Currently Reading Welcome to the O.C. By Alan Sepinwall
My love for this show never died.
Season one is pure solid gold, it captured a time, a place and created a cultural imprint that still resonates today.
The O.C. debuted over 20 years ago and it's still being talked about today, whilst reaching a new audience via various streaming networks.
It helped bring indie rock such as Death Cab for Cutie, The Killers, Modest Mouse et al to the masses and it kinda made awkward alternative kids like me, cool.
This book is a great deep dive into the show with some fantastic interviews and insights, many of which were completely new to me (a self professed super fan).
Although, it was a shame certain people didn't contribute as there's no Oliver, Johnny or Volchok. It would have been nice to hear the 'villains' perspective or how they felt bearing the brunt of the fandom all those years ago. Yet despite their absence all the key voices were there and incredibly honest.
It's not going to 'spill the tea' on all the gossip some fans will want to hear, but for a 30 something year old like myself, this ticked all the boxes.

(From the WIP game you posted) asking about both 13RW fics!!!! 🫶🫶 Tell anything u wanna say about them!! This fandom is a graveyard :(
I’m new to the fandom, so I’m still catching up! Both of the are very Clay and Justin centric since they are my favorite part.
We Don’t Share the Same Blood (You’re My Brother and I Love You)
This is basically just a very self indulgent cross over with the OC examining the parallels between Justin and Clay and Seth and Ryan (PS if you haven't watched the OC you totally should).
Summary: Clay makes friends with a girl named Summer Roberts and quickly learns they have more in common than he ever could have imagined.
Snippet:
Clay had recognized something about the set of Summer’s shoulders, like the weight of the world rested there. It reminds him of home and friends who knew his grief like the back of their hand.
The Stairs Creak As You Sleep (It’s Keeping Me Awake)
No summary yet, but here's a snippet:
“Clay?” it’s supposed to sound casual, but his voice cracks in the middle, so clearly, he can’t even do that right.
“Mph,” Clay groans, rolling over and folding his pillow over his ear.
Justin winces, closes his eyes, tells himself it’s fine, he’ll just wait ‘til morning, but … his skin crawls and his throat is tight, and Clay is dead to the world. It would be easy, so easy, to sneak down the stairs, steal Clay’s bike and head to the docks. He’d be back before anyone even knew he was gone, and nothing would hurt anymore.
“Clay,” he says again, louder.

I am very late to the OC party in spite it being the defining show of my generation, but I have to know, am I the only one who ships Ryan and Theresa?!
I also ship Ryan and Marissa as well. But I can have two ships if I want.

My final thoughts on the OC:
Julie Cooper had the best character development on the show, shout out to my queen definition of strong independent woman (wait till the end of the series)
Season 4 was my favorite, Ryan could finally stress less and ended up with a girl who loved him and treated him the way he deserved to be treated, yes Ryan and Taylor FTW.
As much as I disliked Marissa ( due to the way she was written the writers handled her poorly sadly ) I felt bad that she couldn’t experience her mom becoming independent and successful!
They should have written Marissa to been able to work on her mental health issues while also moving on with her life, and away from Ryan etc I don’t think killing her off sent out a good message to those who are working through their struggles.
Overall I really enjoyed the series, more than gossip girl honestly, but I absolutely hated how that is totally Ryan’s biological son and Teresa never tells him even though he knows and I get why but that ending was so sad ugh.

Take a shot every time these two hit on each other. As if to save me from having to do Henrik’s route, Solmare have suddenly dropped Rami’s route and I played a good chunk of the first two chapters today. Instead of doing my usual daily posts, I’m going to dump everything into one post today, since otherwise it’d take ages. Sorry for the long post, folks.
They start the common route by doing something I’ve been expecting them to do for a while - putting off Julia going to work. While I personally don’t mind the stories about her job (mostly cuz I get to see Timo), there’s only so many ways you can retell this setup, so I wouldn’t be surprised if more routes postpone it somehow in future. There is a scene where she briefly goes in to talk to Moses, but Timo and Paul don’t appear at all that I’ve seen.
Instead of starting to work, Julia’s going on a cruise and some of the cast have turned up to see her off. I can’t stop laughing at the thought that this could be someone’s first Love Tangle route and the only introduction they’ll get to Lex and Silvan are “Don’t set fire to your cabin” and “tap water is bad”. :’) They also make a point of saying “some” of the cast are joining Julia on the cruise. But by that they mean almost bloody everyone. Here’s who I’ve spotted so far:
...There are very few people missing from this line up. 32 dateable characters is A LOT lol.
Anyway, Cornelius wants Julia to be the ship’s vet, because that’s apparently a thing that he needs. So he takes her down to this... place, that’s where all the animals are being taken care of on this ship. Because “veterinary clinic on a ship” is TOTALLY the first thing this background makes me think of lmao.
These two have more chemistry with each other than they do with Julia.
Even Julia seems to think so.
Can we just skip to their Taste of New Love route already? Let them date each other instead of the MC. Solmare, I will give you money.
ANYWAY, this post has gone on way too long, so I’ll wrap it up here. So far no sign of the new upcoming love interests, but I’m sure I’ll post about them when they happen, unless someone else finds them first, in which case I’ll just reblog their post.

“What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool? You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave, chatting and socializing and not getting anything done.” Dr Temple Grandin, American scientist, academic and animal behaviorist
“My autism is the reason I’m in college and successful. It’s the reason I’m good in math and science. It’s the reason I care,” – Jacob Barnett, sixteen-year old maths and physics prodigy
“Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.” – Frank Zappa
“Autistic people have probably done so much for hundreds of years without any credit.”
― Elle McNicoll, author of A Kind of Spark
“We just need to be kinder to ourselves. If we treated ourselves the way we treat our best friend, can you imagine how much better off we would be?” Meghan Markle
“I’ve been searching for ways to heal myself, and I’ve found that kindness is the best way.” Lady Gaga
“I am different, not less.” Dr Temple Grandin, American scientist, academic and animal behaviorist
“Universities are renowned for their tolerance of unusual characters, especially if they show originality and dedication to their research. I have often made the comment that not only are universities a 'cathedral' for worship of knowledge, they are also 'sheltered workshops' for the socially challenged.”
― Tony Attwood, author of The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome
“When I was diagnosed, it just gave me permission to be kinder to myself, to not always take responsibility for being a bit clumsy around other people, and allow me to start to tell people, ‘I’m clumsy, but I [don’t] mean to be.’ And being more open about, ‘I need you to tell me what I did wrong, and then we can move on from there.’ Hannah Gadsby – Comedian ‘Nannette Douglas’
Steven Spielberg (dyslexia)
Legendary film director Steven Spielberg wasn’t diagnosed with dyslexia until he was in his 60s. School administrators thought he was lazy. He was bullied by classmates, and his troubles in school played a part in his career. Not only did making movies give him a place to channel his energies, but feeling like an outsider helped him co-write The Goonies, a hit movie about a quirky group of friends who didn’t quite fit in at school. He said finding out as an adult that he has dyslexia was like “the last puzzle piece to a great mystery that I’ve kept to myself”.
Cher (dyslexia and dyscalculia)
Ryan Gosling (ADHD and difficulty reading)
“I think over the years, what I’ve come to learn, thanks to some great therapists, is my depression is created by a severe level of ADHD.” Trevor Noah
“Although people with autism look like other people physically, we are in fact very different in many ways. We are more like travelers from the distant, distant past. And if, by our being here, we could help the people of the world remember what truly matters for the Earth, that would give us a quiet pleasure.” Naoki Higashida
“I have Aspergers and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And – given the right circumstances - being different is a superpower.” Greta Thunberg
“Having ADHD, and taking medicine for it is nothing to be ashamed of, nothing that I’m afraid to let people know.” Simone Biles
“As an artist, I think it’s a self-evident truth that not thinking like everyone else is positive and beneficial.” Florence Welch, lead singer from Florence and the Machine

Completed Love Tangle Routes
I saw @northernscruffycat do this, and I’m not sure I have done something like this myself but I may as well since I have been posting a lot of screenshots lately from Yangzi & Lumiere’s route. Plus, it was fun to go back through and see what I have and haven’t completed.
COMPLETED SUPREME/HAPPY
Ryan Gray
Nolan Zarek
Naoki Hozumi
Timo Salminen
Henrik Kaled
Oliver Cowell
COMPLETED SUPREME
Cody Gray
Miguel Hernandez
Carlo Mazza
Paul Morgan
Andrea Lee
Carter Harris
Lumiere Rousseau
Yangzi Sun (+ currently on track to complete HAPPY ENDING :D)
Ike Barnes
Moses Jackson
Celina Winter
Valentin Blom
Silvan Glanzschmidt
Ivy Attwood
Maxim Morozoff
COMPLETED HAPPY
Earl Olsen
INCOMPLETE
Dean Price
Wylder Kelly
Lex Caraballo
HAVEN’T STARTED
Jonas Kuklas
William Moss
Alexey Morozoff
Even though I have a handful that I haven’t started (not to mention rage-quitting Dean/Wylder three different times LMAO), I went back to Yangzi to get his Happy Ending because I didn’t want to pay for it separately plus I saw a video of Lumiere’s but not Yangzi’s and really want to see how it is because Lumiere and Yangzi are my favorites lmao. So by the time I finish Yangzi they will likely be on the 2nd guy of Angelo/Yamato so that will be the one I do next.

I moved home to my heart city of Montreal! So much has happened! I am setting up a winter studio in a cozy and comfortable place with my now husband Ryan Backer. And I am so grateful to have free health care again!
I was in a show just as we just arrived, curated by fascinating Franco millennials. I went to the finissage at le Cheval Blanc and got to meet Sophie Latouche and my wonderful curators Eli Larin and Alexandra Tremblay. It was the first show I was ever in that was named by emojis only – no text!
🍆😂🤳 [Emoji d’aubergine/Emoji de visage riant aux larmes/Emoji de bras tenant un cellulaire]
After this show I was in Festival Phenomena for my second time curated by D. Kimm on the Rialto main stage!
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
We created the first Montreal edition of FAKE ORGASM CHOIR. Betty Pomerleau, Ryan Backer and I created two new songs in addition to the song the Berlin choir created.
The iteration of the choir starred Ryan Backer, Eva Crocker, Ruby Kato Attwood,Christeen Francis, Sunny Doyle, Susie, Seagrid Patterson, Ash, Kelly Rea and the amazing Betty Pomerleau. Thanks to Shayo Detchema for documenting!
Earlier in January my partner Ryan, my best friends Winnie Superhova and Natasha Hargovan, and my gay husband Troy Davis created another successful Queer Healing Event. The next one will be at an accessible venue in November– we hope! More info on the event here. Please contact any of us if you would like to be involved in the next one. I feel this event is deeply linked to my social art practice in many ways.
BEFORE I LEFT BERLIN…
I managed to pull off two massive curations on the weekend of August 17 and 18th. One was a video curation, and the other was a performance curation.
Description: Coral Short deconstructs privilege within the genre of film. Videomakers decipher the notion of luck as privilege within our white cis supremacist society. This is unpacked through landscapes, ideas of heteronormative “beauty”, as well as signs and signifiers for luxury. Anti- authoritative aesthetic strategies are implemented to question the often unquestioned status quo. In this brand new program full of world premieres, playful political performance art unravels ideas, and film artists infuse old medias with intention to speak in new visual languages. From covering colonial statues with piss, to performance princesses, a wide range of different focuses emerge and visually unfold.
Thank you COVEN for such a packed and smooth event. And to artists Imogen Heath and Tami T for coming out! Other filmmakers on this bill included Claire Arctander, Divide and Dissolve, Sab D’Souza, Daniel Embree, Shon Faye, Gwendolyn Audrey Foster, BB Gunn, Winston Hacking, Virginia FiveNames Joseph, and Yasmeen Nematt Alla.
The performance curation was a successful fundraiser for a 3 day event around the senses called Sensorium organized by Calu Lema, Caritia Abell and myself. Huge gratitude to all the amazing performers. Big thank you to Adi Brief and Alex Tsoli for producing this fundraiser event with me and also to everyone who came out! Included was a screening room dedicated to a magnificent retrospective of Eva Wo‘s life work.
Around this same time Angela Gabereau and I were in a show in Montreal with Future Visions yet again!
ELO 2018 PERFORMANCES Eastern BlocExhibition Uchronia|What if? 6 PM – 10:30 PM For ELO 2018, curator Lisa Tronca presents a selection of Uchronia | What if? artists, some exhibiting their work for the first time in Montreal. By proposing different modes of reception of hypermedia works, this exhibition questions the gaps and connections between physical and virtual worlds.

Right now travelling in the bay area with Ponderosa people from Berlin. I gave a workshop on my new project Choir of Emotions and performed with the Fresh Festival. I am staying in San Francisco right now with an old friend/cultural connector who I have the most inspiring conversations with called Ernesto Sopprani.
Before I left to San Francisco, I was on the french radio being interviewed by the legendary Michelle Lacombe! I did my first ever interview in french. Click here to hear the interview. I am looking forward to being on another french podcast soon to talk about Queer Healing Day.

Back to Germany in the Spring…. I am the international cultural connector of Betonest in April! Please feel free to write to me to see if we can offer you a residency there just outside Berlin. You are very welcome to come for a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or the whole month! I am running a multi media residency with Caitlin Fisher called THAW April 23-May 3, but you are welcome in April. Please tell your maker friends who need time and space to work. I also hope to create a ritual residency there for October.
WWKA (Women With Kitchen Appliances) is reforming for VIVA. It will be our 20th year anniversary and we will be performing with 10 old and 10 new members in late September!! I founded this project in 1997(ish).

My french seems to be flowing more easily this time around which I am grateful for. I adore my francophone feminist queer community around me . I am grateful to be home and surrounded by my old and new communities in Montreal, New York and the Bay!
Coming home I moved home to my heart city of Montreal! So much has happened! I am setting up a winter studio in a cozy and comfortable place with my now husband Ryan Backer.

I take back my old OC post where I talked about my ships being Ryan/Theresa and Ryan/Marissa...I would like to officially claim Ryan/Taylor as my new OTP (and yes, I can have three Ryan ships).
I just love that...for once, Ryan is with someone that doesn’t make him want to go punch on with everyone.
Again, this is my first turn on the OC roundabout.

I rediscovered the O.C this weekend. The horrendous early 2000s fashion, the music that became the soundtrack to my teenage angst and Ryan Attwood. Ahhhhhh the nostalgia
