@caemthe asked :
[ jiyan, for yangyang ] A cat, on a tree so tall that the general wouldn’t be surprised if it was found out that it said it had been around since the first Lament. Impressive truly, but now it posed a threat to the safety of the kitten trapped at the top. He stepped back as he looked up, finally spotting the poor pet. “How should we proceed? It wasn’t too fond of the fish I offered earlier.”
unprompted. || always accepting
Tumblr media
─「秧秧」─  it was almost impressive how a creature so small could get itself up upon a tree that tall all by itself. even before she could hear the sounds of it meowing for attention and assistance, YANGYANG was able to sense the emotions that came from the smallest of movement as the tree barely moved with the winds. the general had fetched a delicious looking fish in order to lure it down, however, the feline still wouldn't budge. was there something else that caused it to stay up there despite how dangerous it was ?
Tumblr media
quietly, she reached out her hand and closed her eyes to feel the winds, allowing the flow of the air current to pass through her gloved digits. she heard everything, the rustle of every single leaves, the way the sands and dirt moved underneath their feet, the scent and noises carried with the breeze, and a sign of distress coming from the small creature up and above them.
" it must've been scared of the tacet discords suddenly appearing in the area. " both of them had already dealt with that, but the air itself was still unstable from the recent fight. perhaps that was why the cat refused to come down. she had to make sure there were no other external stimulants to make it go into fight or flight mode. her silver hues finally opened, and she turned to the taller male.
" i'd like to try something. general, could you please hold out your hands and arms for me ? " that was all she gave him, and only when he had decided to comply that the winds around them slowly stilled, like the air was MUTED and with a wave of her gloved digits, a soft current whipped the small creature from where it was and carefully carrying it down onto his awaiting arms. he would be able to feel how warm the breeze was, how gentle it enveloped around the small feline like soft cushion. a smile then curved her lips at the successful attempt especially when the said kitty was nuzzling into his strong hold. a tender giggle escaped her.
Tumblr media
" she seems to be fond of you now. maybe she could smell that fish on you ? "

I shifted and entered the void state and I now live my dream life beyond what I could imagine (:
(I’m your bubble anon but I made this burner to post this bc I don’t want to start a blog on my main account, and I know how success stories go)
Hi Maya. Ur page has been super helpful, and after being in the shifting community for 5 years I shifted to my waiting room using your reprogram method and your lucid dreaming guide. It was a castle with a couple of butlers and domesticated animals of all sorts. I experimented and visited around 15 drs within a week (wr time) and I am so blessed.
I shifted to:
My waiting room
Bnha
A royalty dr where I am a princess
80’s dr
Stranger things
My dr based of my favourite wattadd story
An aot x this reality x avatar reality I created
Mcu universe where I am ironman’s daughter
I shifted as a cat (very fun)
A dr where I am a wealthy Range Rover new money mother
Old money nepo modeling dr
+ some personal ones
I have wanted this for so long so I have to thank you for always answering my dos, and making incredible posts. I am also a permeant shifter/respawner but I was so motivated by your philosophy of living every reality to the fullest, including this one so that’s what I did.
I came back a week ago and shifted back to a reality where I am a master shifter, and a master of the void state.
I entered the void and manifested this as well:
Everyone who reads this enters the void state easily
Having loving parent with a billion dollar net worth(they were poor, abusive, and homophobic)
A beautiful loving gf with supportive parents
Loving lesbian relationship and any homophobia we receive returns into a curse :) fuck you bigots
This Incel named Evan Stevens doesn’t exist. And I checked and he doesn’t but I guess This realities version is Andrew Tate. I will manifest he gets lung cancer or something. Fuck him
Natural head turning beauty, and being a solid 10/10 in every aspect
Having my dream personality, voice, hair, and intelligence
Revising my zodiac from cancer to a saggitarius
Having a popular youtube channel that Will blow up soon and be my career
And so so so much more. Lesson of the story is don’t give up. You can have everything and more so what’s the point of not trying. When it gets hard it can not get worse only better so remember this is the last time you will ever feel this shitty.
I love everything about this. This has to be one of my favorite success stories so thank you for the motivating content. You deserve it all and your success can be attributed to only yourself :)!

“get you on my side.”
scar x f! reader - ww , nsfw ( mature audiences only )
nsfw warnings: tied up , teasing , 😽 eating
Tumblr media
————————— —————————
“cmon, rover. just take my side..” scar said, circling you with his hands behind his back. his eyes were threatening, but the smirk on his face said otherwise. “what must a guy do to get a pretty face like yours to believe him?”
you had more than enough of him, though. “nothing, scar. absolutely nothing.” you shot back at him, preparing to draw your weapon. your fingers lingered softly on your sword, and he was quick to take note of it. his smirk only grew bigger. “no.. i wont challenge you to a duel.” he walked up to you, “i know a much better way to make you vulnerable.”
the moment you tried to grab your sword, it was gone. like it vanished.. out of thin air. you shot your head back up, just for him to be completely out of sight. you clenched your hands into a ball, “show yourself!” you yelled, the volume causing an echo throughout the empty space. your head turned into multiple different directions, never letting your guard down.
and within a blink of an eye, the scenery changed. you were on a bed, stretched out. almost like you had been asleep. almost like you had been dreaming. it didnt make sense, till he came towering over you from the side of the bed. “i had to make the setting more.. comfortable for you.” he smirked, leaning in. his face only a few inches away from yours. you threw your hand over, but he was quick to catch it and pin it above you.
“ah, ah, ah.” scar took your other hand and pinned it above you. he got on top of the bed and separated your legs with his knee. his eyes trailed down your body, “so fragile. so delicate. almost like.. glass. hm?” the words spilled out of his mouth in a seductive manner, confusing you. you didnt know how to feel. you were completely under his control now. no weapon and no fists. all you could do was try to close your legs together — except his knee was stopping you.
“stay still for me, love.” he let go of your wrists, but they were quickly tied up by some sort of chains that appeared out of nowhere. and so were your ankles. your legs were completely spread out, and if you werent at his mercy before, you for sure were now. “get..” you tried to say, but for some reason — you couldnt. it was almost like you wanted this. like you wanted to be his.
“get? get what, rover?” he looked back up at you, his eyes burning with some sort of desire. scar let a chuckle escape his lips, directing his attention downwards. he was eyeing your stomach.. then your waist.. then the spot between your thighs. “cat got your tongue?” he added, leaning down. he placed his hands on your thighs, then pushed your dress up. a cold wave of air hit your core, making you realize that you were soaking wet.
“oh? what a pleasant surprise.. already perfect for me..” he snarked, pushing his face closer to your dripping pussy. an intense wave of heat surged across your whole body, resting at your face. it was embarrassing. you didnt realize you got aroused. extremely aroused. your panties were drenched in juices, and scar found that adorable.
he pressed a finger against your underwear, making sure to add plenty of pressure. he softly rubbed it up and down, making you gasp from the sudden sensation. you shot your head down, watching him stare at your lower part like it was some sort of rare item. he looked mesmerized, almost. like a flame was lit in his eyes dark eyes. “scar…” you spat out, not even on purpose. you were so enchanted by his single finger — you didnt even realize you were beginning to ramble. clearly, you were touch starved.
“hmm? switching sides already?” he looked up, the sparkle still in his eyes. his finger was exploring you even more, slowly becoming warmer from the liquids you released. as he awaited your answer, he took note of every little gasp and emotion you made. figuring out what was sensitive and what wasnt. “this.. you..” the words slowly came out of your mouth. but there wasnt anything you could say. the pressure was harsh, and that was all you could think about. there was no doubt that his question went in one ear and out the other.
“shh, dont say anything else. ill take care of you, doll.” and within a snap, he pulled your panties aside and started pressing gentle kisses on your folds. a shiver traveled down your spine, the softness hypnotizing you completely. you never expected this to happen out of all things, yet somehow his touch was intoxicating. and you felt like you needed it.
he looked up at you, taking note of your look. the lustful desire eating you alive, unable to be resisted. scar took it as a sign of him doing something right, and he began to softly lick around your folds, getting your wetness sticking to his tongue. your thighs slightly closed, getting a chuckle out of him. his laughter ran throughout your body, sending vibrations towards your core. he smiled against your pussy, then started to lick around your entrance. your back almost immediately arched, and your hands found themselves tugging on the chains, wanting nothing more but to grab on something.
he slipped his tongue inside of you, his hunger was far too ravenous. it was overpowering.. and your scent was filling up his nostrils. it was a battle he was bound to lose. he swirled his tongue around you, loving the taste you gave him. as his tongue worked around, he’d let out soft moans. they sent even more vibrations straight through you, and the feeling was electrifying. like nothing you had ever felt before. he kept going and going, needing this. needing you. needing your beautiful, delicious taste. he completely muted out any other thoughts, fixated on what was in front of him.
as his need grew more and more strong, your climax got anticipated more and more. he was picking up the pace, your juices dripping down his chin. he was so fucking desperate to make you feel good. so desperate to make you cum. the look on your face made it quite obvious that he was a skilled man, and that made him even more hungry. hed kiss and continue lapping his tongue at your wet cunt, eager to push you over the edge. your thighs were attempting to close, but he forced them open. he dug his nails into your soft skin, the slight pain sending more waves throughout your body. needy whines and whimpers escaped your mouth uncontrollably, he was too good at eating pussy. and youd probably be amazed by it if you werent drowning in pleasure. completely mind gone.
as you got closer and closer, he began to murmur into you. “cum.. cum for me.” he’d growl, his words slightly slurred by his tongue being out. as his words began to fill your mind, you felt a knot at your stomach. a knot just dying to be let go of. you pulled back at the chains, throwing your head back. his pace was so fast, it was almost inhumane. but he didnt care if it was overwhelming, because he slipped his middle finger inside of you. pumping it in and out as he continued licking and licking. your back arched and you slowly began to form words, which only expressed your need to release. he kept demanding for you to let go, and also continued working his finger and tongue. the sounds coming from your overstimulated pussy were extremely erotic. the slight slapping noise, his tongue working, his moans of need, and your wetness.
it all filled your brain at once, and just as quickly as it all ran through your brain, you released. your whole body went limp, and your efforts to yank your wrists out of the chains immediately ended. you were a panting, sweaty mess. and he was enjoying cleaning you up. he licked the last of your juices around you, moaning and sighing. his middle finger entered his mouth and he swarmed his tongue around it, savoring your flavor. despite you already cumming, he couldnt help but still want more. he needed more of your taste immediately, but he decided it was best to be patient. maybe save it for another session, or for when youre less tired.

🕯️ Mortefi x F!Rover 🕯️The Rover and Her Red Cat Researcher
Mortefi scratched his head in utter confusion. He had absolutely no leads to go off of as a starting point, and even worse was that he had never seen a case quite like this before. Granted, he was more specialized in other fields of research, but denying the opportunity to learn more about the peculiar would be a fool’s choice. She returned seeking answers. He wanted answers himself. Unfortunately for the both of them, basic testing came back completely normal, and Mortefi did not know why.
What he did know, is that he didn’t know anything about the girl who went by the name of Rover. She had the clothes of a foreigner, most certainly a region that he was most unfamiliar with. Without as much of a formal name that could at least provide some clues to her heritage, Mortefi was at a complete loss for tracing back her origins. It was perplexing, to say the least. The thought of contacting senior researchers at Huaxu Academy had crossed his mind more than once, but what would they be able to do, if every result was as average as it could possibly be?
Rover came to him seeking some form of answer, and he was determined to give her something of value. A response along the lines of “I haven’t the slightest idea” simply was not acceptable. Unfortunately, he was stumped. He understood none of this. Mortefi was even sure to run multiple tests, and carry out the exact same procedures on another researcher he knew was average as a control. He could find absolutely nothing.
“Any luck yet?” Rover asked, peeking around his shoulder.
“Regrettably, no,” Mortefi admitted. “All of the tests that I have conducted have yieled completely normal results. You’re clearly a deviation from the norm, yet I fail to determine what factors exactly make you stand out in such a way.”
“But what about my memory loss?”
“No leads in regards to that either. Not even the medical specialists could find anything wrong with your head neurological system.”
Rover sighed, a bit disappointed with his response.
“If it were not for your unusual appearance, as well as the inclusion of that most curious sundial, I would have been led to believe that you were faking all of this for attention.”
“If I had the answers, then I would have no reason to pester you.”
“That may be so, but despite multiple attempts with a control variable taken into account, neither me nor my colleagues can find anything explicitly wrong with you. It’s slightly infuriating, to put it lightly,” Mortefi said, with a slight growl to his voice.
Rover noticed that Mortefi’s once curious expression quickly began to fade away. He exhaled a bit of smoke, clenching his fits as if his frustration was becoming unbearable. With another sigh tinged with smoke, Mortefi pulled out a lighter from his pocket and flicked the cap open. Rover’s heart jumped, and she backed away from him worried that Mortefi was one bad decision away from burning down the entire laboratory, the two of them included.
He clicked the lighter a couple of times, the flame igniting and dissipating, almost as if he was sizing up the equipment around him for the maximum carnage possible with such a small lighter. However, after a good couple of clicks, Mortefi let out a deep breath, this time no fiery smoke to be seen.
“I…apologize for that bout of unprofessionalism,” Mortefi said, sticking the lighter back into his pocket.
“Were you debating burning this entire place down just now?” Rover said, still tense and prepared to bolt.
“I merely find the click of my lighter to be soothing. I cannot let my nerves to get the best of me.”
“I can assume very much so. I could see you exhaling literal smoke.”
Mortefi cleared his throat, and picket up his tablet once more.
“With that being an issue best left in the past, I suppose that this mystery is not going to solve themselves. Shall we proceed?”
Although she was still somewhat shaken up from Mortefi’s actions just moments prior, Rover nodded her head and allowed for Mortefi to resume thoroughly examining her. He grabbed her hand and noticed her Tacet Mark, bringing it closer to his eyes in an attempt to find anything that stood out as unusual. As he squinted his eyes at her hand, Rover awaited the moment where he would be struck with inspiration and shove her under some laboratory equipment for vigorous testing. However, he simply held her had rather tight and continued observing it intently.
“Something super fascinating about my hand?” she asked.
“Ah…no. Just simply conducting a thorough examination.”
He leaned away a little, allowing a Rover a little bit more personal space. Now that he had lifted his head up a bit more, she caught a clear glimpse of his eyes for the first time. His pupils were slit, somewhat like those of the reptiles she had cut down on the way. They, however, felt more curious and alive than just plain bloodthirsty. In fact, they were almost cat-like, giving him the look of a man occupied with a lot of thoughts rather than just a beast whose only thought was what its next victim for a meal was.
Noble, majestic, respectable. It was like she was face to face with a dragon in human form, which made her heart skip a beat every time the light of the laboratory reflected the amber shine in his eyes.
Despite these thoughts of a well-respected dragon standing before her, Rover felt as if Mortefi kept the demeanor of a cat hidden beneath an aura of authority and intelligence. The way he lit up with curiosity while working on his research, his normally calm mannerisms, and the eyes that widened like a curious cat every time even the slightest detail caught his attention all further supported her strange feeling of fondness for Mortefi. Hell, it was becoming mighty tempting to reach out and pet his hair as if he really were a friendly cat.
Just one little pat wouldn’t hurt, she hoped. At the very worst, he would push her hand away, but this nagging urge of hers had to be satisfied. Just one little pet. She could just play it off as a side effect of the brain damage Mortefi insists she doesn’t have.
With her free hand, she reached up and gently pet him. His eyes widened and was a bit surprised by her sudden move, but showed no clear signs of taking any insult. In fact, she could argue that for a moment, she saw him enjoying the attention.
“You really are curious about me, aren’t you?” she said.
“I believe you to be the more curious one, in terms of both attributes and apparently behavior,” Mortefi said, releasing her hand to ruffle his hair back into place.
Some of Mortefi’s lingering tension appeared to have eased thanks to Rover’s playful gesture. Maybe her wild guess wasn’t too far off in actuality. She wouldn’t hesitate to continue if it meant putting Mortefi at ease, but even she had enough common sense remaining to think that petting someone performing tests on you was a bit unusual. Her mind was already upside down, and Mortefi was clearly withholding a great deal of stress, so both of them would have an excuse, should he desire more.
“You look like you’ve lightened up a bit,” Rover commented.
“I believe that I am the one who is supposed to be assisting at the current moment in time. Worry not about me, it’s nothing I haven’t experienced before.”
“Are you sure that you don’t want just a little more? You can think of it as a way of me repaying you for putting all of this effort into attempting to help me.”
Mortefi looked around the lab, as if he was anxious that someone had opened doors that have clearly remained shut throughout the duration of their conversation.
“A subject eager to assist is certainly an usual case. Usually, individuals that do come into the lab constantly ask when the tests are concluded as they get pried and poked,” Mortefi said, puzzled, yet intrigued.
“As we have clearly concluded, I’m not a normal test subject.”
“You are normal, in a sense. In a contradictory manner, that is rather abnormal. Abnormalities in some way are to be expected to be turn up in at least one test. You however, have shown- “
“Normal this, abnormal that, just say that this has been confusing you and you wouldn’t mind another pat to destress,” Rover said, reaching out her hand up once more.
“I suppose this could be a prime opportunity for us to both discover something about ourselves, Mortefi said with a sigh.
He put his tablet down onto the table and glanced at Rover’s hand, nodding to signal that it was okay for her to proceed. With a smile, she once more began to pet him, only just realizing how soft his hair actually was. It was a bit of an unexpected feeling for a man whose chest was partially covered in what appeared to be scales.
“Do you like it?” she asked.
“In the most unusual way possible, I find it to be quite the soothing experience.”
As she continued gently petting Moretfi, she noticed that his eyes were relaxed and he was blinking rather slowly. Rover’s impulsiveness somehow managed to pay off for both of them, though now it was possible that she could be petting him all day if he was this fond of the attention. He was showing no signs of resistance or wanting to stop either, despite the tests waiting to be ran (or, re-ran) on Rover.
“If it helps you keep your cool, I would gladly keep going all day,” Rover said, mainly as an excuse to continue feeling his surprisingly soft hair.
“Are all outsiders like you this considerate for the well-being of others?” Mortefi asked, almost as if he were slowly becoming drunk off of the affection from Rover.
“Maybe. I don’t know how someone like me is normally supposed to think.”
“Right, my apologies,” Mortefi said, lifting his head up. “As nice as that truthfully feels for the soul, we must continue attempting to discern the extent of your…condition.”
“Mortefi, has anyone ever been nice to you in such a way?” Rover asked, completely disregarding his statement.
“I never considered such things as my studies have always taken top priority. An honest answer would be no, up until now, but I find it most strange that a stranger would be the first to think of me in such a regard,” Mortefi said, attempting to piece together his thoughts. “…Let’s resume the operation before I once more allow myself to get carried away.”

Hi! I'm Brek (she/her), I'm 23, and I mostly write stuff. I do occasionally draw, but I make no promises about the quality of my art, haha. If you're a minor and want to follow my tumblr, you can! I try to keep things sfw here, but my ao3 does have some nsfw content (all tagged and rated tho).
Here's some facts about me, I guess:
I collect duck and cat figurines. I've had an obsession with skeletons, robots, and Mars rovers since I was really young. I really like Portal, all the Spyro games, and Outer Wilds (and their soundtracks!). Right now I'm pretty much just posting fnaf and tsams stuff, but who knows what the future holds.
Here's generally how my blog is organized!
#reblog - Anything I've reblogged
#meblog - Any of my own original content. Some stuff has its own tag, but shorter fics and the like will probably end up here.
#brekwrites - stuff I write (tag in progress)
#brekdraws - stuff I draw (tag in progress)
#answeredask - Take a guess. (It's my answered asks.)
#fnanf - Five Nights at Not Freddy's: It's Sun and Moon's Show Now - Big long fnaf dca fanfic I'm writing. My take on the "new handler meets Sun and Moon and maybe they kiss eventually" trope, set after Security Breach and outlined before Ruin came out, so not canon compliant anymore.
#chance4redemption - A Chance for Redemption - Big-ish long-ish Sun and Moon Show fanfic I'm writing. Canon divergent, dragging Eclipse V3, kicking and screaming, through his redemption arc.
I can't think of much else, other than the link to my Ao3, which is right here. If you wanna talk to me about anything I've made, or anything I like, or anything you like, feel free to shoot me an ask or smth.

Population Growing!
cw: fluff, feelings realisation
pairing: Tom Nook/Reader
my first proper fic in a while... a
The train moved along the rails at a comforting speed as you watched the landscape pass by from the window. Finally, you had found yourself able to move into a new town far from the one that you had grown up in. It was a daunting task as much as it was exciting. The place was a bit far out from any major city, but you figured that would give it a certain rustic charm that could prove a pleasant change. Everything felt a little less frightening when you thought of it that way as well. Few other passengers had caught a ride on the train. Really, the car you sat in was mostly empty, barring an old, napping sow.
It was just you and the world.
Until, the door of the car slid open, and a blue and white cat walked in and looked around before spotting you. His red eyes went wide as he waved at you and approached. You perhaps would have felt a bit nervous, but he seemed relatively normal, if not a tad too amicable. “Uh… Excuse me… Do you have a second?” he asked. You gave a nod in reply. He then asked you the date and time to which you gave an answer. His smile was stagnant as he nodded this time and seemingly corrected a wristwatch. Then, he glanced back up at you. “Do you mind if I sit across from you? I promise that I won't fall asleep and start drooling on you!”
With your permission, he down on the seat and glanced out the window for a moment. Then, his attention landed back on you. “Thanks again! It sure is nice meeting friendly folks on the train… You aren't some dangerous criminal, are you?” his lips curled back into a playful expression, “Just kidding!” You gave a slight laugh. It seemed that he really just wanted to talk to someone. The conversation continued with him giving you his name and asking for your own, asking about where you were going and why, and then where you were moving to. Though, his shock was plain on his face when you replied that you had no idea. At first, he tried to laugh it off as you messing with him, but he soon realised that you were not joking.
“WHAT?!” his voice actually raised in shock, “You can't just show up with no place to live-! Oh, duh! A friend of mine runs a shop there. Let me give him a ring and see if he has anything.” The cat gave another look at you as he got up and walked away to step outside the train car for a moment. You watched him pick up his cellphone and make a call out. Listening as best you could on the quiet train, you heard him speaking to someone. A name, Nook, stood out to you. You heard him mention your situation and name to the person on the other end of the line. Part of you did feel a bit worried about this being some kind of situation, but Rover had seemed genuine enough.
Soon, the call came to an end, and he returned to his seat across from you with a comforting smile. “Right, so my friend has some places. Dirt cheap, actually,” he reassured you, “Apparently, he was having some trouble renting him so he is willing to unload them at a loss.” His red eyes met yours. “You have money, right?” he tilted his head. You nodded, not really thinking much of the situation. “Then you'll be fine!” his smile became that amicable one again, “Oh, look!” His attention shifted to the window. “We're pulling in right now!”
Your heart raced as you saw the station's imminent approach. Soon, the train had come to a stop, and the cat waved a goodbye to you as you departed. The cool crisp air of autumn greeted you as the browning scenery of a small town met your eyes. You stepped down from the platform, wondering where you should go when you heard someone shout out. “Excuse me! Hey, hey! Hey, you there — Yes, you!” Your attention went in the direction of the voice, spotting a tanuki rushing over towards the station. He panted when he saw he had your attention and came to stop to regain his breath for a moment. You tilted your head. He rose up his head and asked your name, which you gave.
“Good, good! I just had a phone call about you, hm?” he let out a breath, “Whew, I'm glad I made it in time to meet your train. I'm afraid I'm not in the best shape of my life…” He shook his head. “But, I ramble. My name is Tom Nook. I, uh, run the store here in town.” A look over was given to you as he remarked on your interesting decision to move to a town before deciding on a place to move into, even giving a laugh at the absurdity of the thought to him. You finally supposed that it might not have been the best idea, admittedly. With that, he assured you that he had a few homes that were ready for someone to move into and had you follow him down a path to where four homes stood.
All were a quaint size, but it seemed that it was not irrational for the price it likely was to be. He offered you to peer into any of them to get a feel for whichever you liked. Taking him up on his offer, you headed inside the closest to your right. Nook warned you that the home would be quite “cosy” to which you opted to ignore. Inside, you were greeted by a small space with some dingy wallpaper and flooring. A tape deck sitting on the floor and a box with a journal on top of it sat in the far corners of the room. You let out a sigh. What was this? You supposed this is a bit of what you deserved for making a hasty decision with little forethought. Heading out, you found Nook waiting for you by the door.
He confirmed that it was the one you liked and proclaimed the home to be yours at your second agreement. The tape deck was even provided to you for free. Though, you did hear him mumble under his breath about it not selling in his shop. Assurance about the lack of furniture being a you problem was made clear and a simple explanation about getting some ideas on how to decorate by visiting your neighbours was given. Then, finally, the chatter ended, “And… That brings your closing costs to 19,800 bells!” He nodded. You felt yourself grow a bit nervous. Reaching into your pocket, you offered what you had inside.
At first, he accepted the bag with little worry, but when he opened it, sweat began to pour from him. “That is not nearly enough!” he fretted, “This must be a joke, yes? You cannot only have 1000 bells! You know what happens to those who don't have money, don't you? They can't buy a house!” For a moment, he seemed deep in thought before shaking his head. “... You still need a place to stay, don't you? Hmm… A thorny situation. Yes. Rather thorny…” You felt yourself panicking internally. Really, what had you been thinking? His lidded eyes glanced at you as you shrunk into yourself. “… Then here's what we'll do! You can work part-time at my shop to pay off the rest! Yes, that's acceptable.” You perked up a bit. An agreement was made for you to settle in for a moment then to meet him at his shop to discuss things further.
Thus, you truly began your life in your new town.
Nook proved to be a bit of an ass as a boss, handing you a uniform and giving you some basic tasks to do. One of which had you planting flowers and saplings… To only be paid 80 bells. Deliveries were another one, but they were not so bad. Through your work, you ended up meeting plenty of your neighbours and finding yourself with some budding friendships. Of course, just when you felt decidedly comfortable to keep working away at your newfound debt at the job, Nook informed you that he had nothing left for you to do. You wanted to stand a-gasp at the shopkeeper, but he informed you that you had a good idea now of how to get out there on your own to pay it off.
Though, you supposed it was not so hard. Finding assorted things to sell to Nook and slowly chipping away at the bill was manageable. Various neighbours also dumped items off on you for doing odd jobs that you often sold when you felt uninterested in it. Not to mention capturing fish and bugs — Granted, you still frequently ended up giving the first one of whatever you caught to the museum curator. That poor owl often jumping away as you stood directly in front of him. Fossils were also fun, though having to mail them off made the excitement rise and fall. It had not been long until the autumn days shifted into the first snow of the season.
Winter had come, and you found yourself approaching Nook's shop. The small shack of a shop had changed into something more of a convenience store due to the increased needs of the town, supposedly. As you approached, something made you stop in your tracks. Two little tanuki were playing just outside of the shop, rolling up a snow ball together. You could not recall having seen them before. Did Nook have children? He certainly had not mentioned it. Perhaps they were visiting relatives? But, was this not his home town? Sable of the Able Sisters had certainly told you it was. The two seemed to catch sight of you and lose interest in their snow ball. Running up to you, they both stood up at with big, round eyes. The resemblance was certainly uncanny.
“Hello, hello,” the two spoke in sync, catching you off-guard, “Can you help us… us?” One of the two trailed just behind at the end. You blinked. Well, maybe getting a new axe could wait. Nodding, you helped them roll the snow ball on top of another to make a snowman. A few decorations were added to dress it up as they cheered happily at the sight. You felt a bit strange gazing at the two kids. They glanced back at you. “Thank you… you!” their voices were so genuine and sweet. You could not help but smile in return and reassure them it was no problem. They continued to play around the snowman as you slipped away into the store, seeing the tanuki lazing behind his register for a moment.
Maybe it was a slow day. He instantly perked up at seeing you, switching into his customer service mode. You obtained the axe that you were after but stopped as you were heading out of the store. A question about the two kids outside hung in the air. He was shocked for a moment before letting his guard drop. “… Those two? They are my apprentices, hm?” he replied simply. You blinked. What did… that even mean? Apprentices? He sighed. “No, they are not my children,” he said simply, “… Sometimes I just need extra hands when working.” For some reason, you doubted that. But, there was no need to protest his words, so you nodded. Whatever he wanted to call it, you supposed. Heading out, you waved by to the kids who waved back at you.
Slowly, you found yourself spotting more and more of the little tanuki - Timmy and Tommy as they had introduced themselves. It seemed that they were truly apprentices of the older tanuki, referring to him solely as Mr. Nook. They claimed to be learning how to run a store from him, but you listened to plenty of stories from both that seemed to paint a more familial situation at play. Maybe it was simply some cultural thing that you did not understand, so you simply kept it to yourself. The two were occasionally pulled away from their studies for a break from their dear mentor, which led to you often playing with them between your tasks. They had watched in excitement as you reeled in fish from the river or caught a few bugs to show them. Sometimes, you even unconsciously ended up gifting them something that you obtained, watching their eyes light up brightly at it.
Whatever odd home situation they had, they were truly just kids. Though, it had become a bit more frequent you brought them back to the store after your hang-outs with them. Nook simply watched as you walked them to the door, mostly giving a nod or a polite thank you for watching over them. You had taken to just shrugging. Really, you did not mind. It was a nice way pass around a less eventful day. Though, Nook seemed to soften up a bit towards you, ending the awkward retail worker-landlord relationship that you had.
Entering his store, you sighed as you looked over the furniture selections he had that day. Nothing to suit what theme you had begun to decorate your home with. He caught your sigh and tilted his head. “Do you want something in particular?” You shook your head. It just seemed hard to decide these days. “... I'd be willing to order ahead for you if you did,” his voice was a bit quieter, as if this were some secret, “I do appreciate your patronage… And help.” You glanced at him. That last past had barely been audible. Help… Did he feel as if he owed you a bit for hanging out with the twins? You wondered. Smiling at him, you simply shook your head. It was something that you could only pick out when you looked at it. And, well, having an excuse to pop by the store for a visit was never a bad thing. The boys certainly liked to pop out from the connected family living unit to see you.
“Well, if you ever do, the offer remains up in the air,” Nook nodded. Then, you heard your name shouted as two fluffy forms rushed towards you. They dragged you away towards the door to have you play hide and seek with them outside.
As you went, a small smile crossed Nook's usually unreadable countenance.
Somehow, you ended up in a strange market tent that had come to town. A neighbour had told you the supposedly super secret password to get in, and you ended up having to instantly dump 3000 bells just to shop. Though, you found yourself a bit suspicious of the owner. The fox was up-front with a penchant for calling you cousin. Supposedly, you were getting a discount on account of being “like family.” Granted, you recognised one of the items he had on display as one that you had seen in Nook's shop. The price, however, was a fair bit higher. As much as you wanted to believe the tanuki would cut you a deal, you doubted it. While that should have truly deterred you from purchasing anything, you felt drawn in by the painting for sale.
Really, seeing the Mona Lisa should have been your first red flag, but you still purchased it. The fox assured you that you would not regret it as you stepped out of the tent with your purchase. Knowing that Blathers would simply love an addition for the art section of the museum, you brought it in to him. However, you stomach soon dropped as he recoiled in shock. “Upon a closer look, I must inform you that this is a vile, shameless forgery!” he looked offended that you would even offer him such a thing as he handed it back to you. However, when he saw your expression, he became a bit more sympathetic. Shaking his head, he lightly chided you for buying from such a shady seller and reassured you that it could happen to anyone.
With that, you found yourself trailing towards the dump to toss the fake. Though, you caught a familiar figure as you dropped the item to be taken away. Nook stood there, seemingly offloading a few boxes from his stocking. He blinked at you, having noticed your gloomy state. “What happened, hm?” his voice was gentle. You felt your frustration come rushing out as you ranted to the tanuki about what had happened. He nodded at your words before letting out a sigh. “I see… That does sound about right,” he patted your shoulder reassuringly, “There, there. Foxes should never be trusted, yes, yes. Let this be a hard lesson learnt.” You sighed again. His eyes darted away for a moment.
“Why don't you join the boys and I for dinner,” Nook offered, “It might be a nice change of pace, hm? They have been asking for you today, anyways.”
You felt a bit better at the thought of seeing the twins. At least, they were too cute to let you keep stewing in your frustration. The tanuki led you away to his store for a nice evening in with the strange family.
Though, admittedly, you did not learn your lesson and kept shopping from the fox. Redd did seem to have some legitimate paintings, after all. That, and, well, you did find him a bit funny to see in action.
Another upgrade to the store had come, giving the shopkeeper shorter hours. Though, there had been an unfortunate incident where you had needed something late at night after the store closed. Needless to say, no matter how close you had become to the tanuki, he was not happy to open his doors at two in the morning to you. Still, he sold you the shovel you needed, albeit at a price hike. As you headed out to return to your plans, you heard him scold you for being up and out so late.
The next day, he had insisted that you needed to work on your sleeping schedule, lest you cause him to worry about what you were doing in the middle of the night with a dire need for a shovel. Apparently planting some new fruit trees was not a reassuring answer. He did appear to be over it, however. Especially when the twins popped out and dragged you into the home unit to show you some new show they were into. He simply could only roll his eyes in reply. Your visits to the store had mostly become social ones, but he never had the heart to complain. Your presence had become an expected thing, in truth. It would feel odd for both of you if you had shown up less.
It was during one of these visits, that you found yourself sitting with him during a slow period in the store. His customer service front had been entirely dropped around you. The landlord half had completely vanished with your last payment on your loan, too. Really, you had just become two people. Perhaps, well, you were friends. That was not something either of you spoke aloud, but it was something understood. You watched his “apprentices” and often ended up sharing meals with them nowadays. There even had been a few times you slept over. Though, those were extremely uncommon even still. Toy Day had been spent with the tanuki, having enjoyed watching just how happy the twins become at the gifts you got for them. New Years had also been spent over…
Your head somehow ended up on Nook's shoulder as you remained lost in thought. He did not react nor did he attempt to move you. The two of you just sat like that for a moment. Snow had begun to pile up outside again. You knew he would likely be on his feet to clear a path if it became too much, but for now, he was unmoving. Your eyes felt heavy. Though, you startled awake when a customer entered the store, and Nook got up to greet and tend to them. You found yourself missing his warmth.
During his time off, you both found yourselves at the Roost. You sat at table together, simply enjoying the ambience of the café while a musician played at the stage. Nook seemed entranced by the dog. You giggled at his clear interest. This brought his attention back to you. He blinked. “… What?” he questioned. Your reply made him appear bashful. He scratched the back of his head while his fluffy tail stood on alert. “Ah, well, I'm quite a fan of him, yes, yes,” Nook admitted, “It's very fortunate he was playing during this time…” You nodded. He had another sip of his coffee and stared at you. “… I genuinely wish to thank you for watching over the twins so often,” he started. You reassured him that it was nothing, but he shook his head.
“Ah, no, see, I am finally able to upgrade my store once more, hm?” he explained. You listened in. It was unsurprising. People even came from out of town to shop there, but everyone in town certainly did. His store really was a centrepiece of the local economy. “I plan on having Timmy and Tommy tend to the second story,” his words shocked you, “… I wish to do more hands-on training with them. I cannot have my apprentices under-trained.” You wanted to roll your eyes. Really, the twins had basically been begging to help more. Though, it did make you sad that there would be less time to spend with them. Nook caught on to that quickly.
“… You are still free to join us at any time,” he reminded you, “They would be far too sad if you stopped showing up.” You let out a relieved breath. His hand grasped your own. “… And, I, too, quite enjoy your company.” Your cheeks burned at his words. His attention drifted back to the musician while your heart raced in your chest.
It was natural change that followed.
Really, it had already been basically what you two shared even it was unspoken. The twins had been put to bed in their room while you sat with Tom in the family room. His arm was around your shoulders as you both watched some old show that he had insisted was good. You rested your head on his shoulder once more. A few times, you had dozed off. Eventually, you heard the television cut off. “Ready for bed?” he asked. You nodded and let him lead you to his room. Somehow, you both had just settled into a routine. Nothing needed to established aloud as it was simply understood. You nuzzled into him as the cover came over you both. His arm secured you into place. Soon, you were drifting off again. A gentle kiss was pecked to your head. A declaration of your feelings was said sleepily.
“I love you, too,” was Tom's reply as you both finally gave in to sleep.

My current roommate is like… fine… but it’s almost frustrating the extent to which she apparently wants to pretend we are like. Each living in our own separate apartments, that just happen to be the same one?
Like, we have less counter space because she bought her own kettle instead of asking to use mine. We moved in with separate dish soaps, and she just bought a refill of her own so I guess I have to continue moving two of them around when I clean the sink. She never puts stuff in the dishwasher—I don’t know why not—but basically the only things we do share are forks/spoons/knives, so when I put those in the dishwasher, sometimes she will put them back in the drawer but leave my measuring spoons in the dishwasher. She’s going out of town for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and she hired someone from Rover to feed her cat on days that I will be here so I had to ask for the contact information so a stranger isn’t barging into the apartment without giving notice.
And like all of this is very minor stuff and ultimately doesn’t matter but also. I literally almost went to the police two months ago because she went to stay with her boyfriend (didn’t know she had one) for several days and didn’t tell me, so eventually I was left thinking “I haven’t heard my roommate in the apartment for almost a week, I think that can of wet food has been in the fridge for four days, she hasn’t picked up her mail in three days or answered my text in two days, is this enough to file a missing person’s report?” Even since then, she basically spends all of her time in her bedroom and will speedwalk between there and the door, ignoring me unless I greet her first.
Idk. The whole dynamic is really weird—it makes me feel like I’m being ignored/disliked or that I’m overstepping when I do things in our shared space? Which is probably my own shit to deal with, but also I don’t trust that she would speak up about anything that bothers her, and that also makes it feel kind of fraught to bring up genuine concerns.

Pregnant Rover sadly loses his husband and decides to adopt a white cat with a scar over one side of the face.
Little did he know that he allowed a yokai to come into his home.
Oh I love this! Also, answering from my phone, so sorry if formatting is weird!
'How cute.' long white tail flicking gracefully around his lithe form, Scar bends over the bed curiously.
Yokai were proud creatures, Scar more so than most, and found being coddled by humans rather...irritating. Of course, Scar understands the confusion, he didn't look terribly different from most common house cats. Humans were always taking in those dirty creatures off the street.
Scar had been whisked away a few times as well. Being dropped into a cozy, warm, abode with a bowl of water and some scraps of fish to fill his belly.
If he wasn't such a terribly picky man, perhaps settling into a life of such simple luxuries weren't be so terrible.
However, the bloodlust he felt simply couldn't be satisfied with fish and beef. He craved flesh, blood and bone of humans, the life force they secreted filling him up and giving him power.
'Though,' he thinks, 'This human is rather...cute.' his lips twitch up into a smile as this sleeping human, Rover, rolls onto his back. Deep in sleep, his arms come to rest over the growing swell of his middle, and Scar feels...something.
One long, jagged claw reaches out and runs down the young man's cheek. His soft breaths stop for a moment as he reaches up and swats away at whatever was disturbing his rest before dozing right back off.
"Perhaps..." Scar thinks, an odd feeling of warmth blooming in his chest, "I can stay awhile, just this once."

How many humans have you ridden the train with named things like AAAAAA? Gotta wonder what their parents were thinking...

"Either people don't want to deal with me, are scared of me, or their parents screamed when they were born."
Getting some déjà vu with that response...

@himedachi said (inbox):
"Sir Calcharo... are you perhaps interested in feeding these stray dogs and cats?" The aloof foreigner from the Ghost Hounds who recently made a visit to Jinzhou seemed like an unapproachable person from the outside, but to quickly assume the worst in another would be rather presumptuous for Jianxin herself. "In case you are interested, I can give you some of these spare meats and fishes I have on hand."
Tumblr media
AH, THE MONK. HE had not expected a visit from her of all people. The Rover, yes. Perhaps even the General, but she was an unexpected outlier. Then the question she asked… Looking away from her, he turned his gaze over to the strays in question, his expression still very much unchanged, still quite unreadable as he looked upon them. He was interested, but was he going to tell her this? The answer was a resounding no. Normally he kept something on his person that he could give to any cats or dogs he came upon, although this time, Calcharo had been far too busy throughout the day to ponder such. Not to mention the dried meat he had carried had long since been eaten during his patrolling. ❝…If you want to give me those things, I won’t refuse. However, I can’t promise that I’ll spend my time feeding strays.❞ So he said.

Losing mind at the thought of Neil and Todd's pets being super friendly with each other's owners. Like, Neil has an absolute mountain of a Bernese called some sort of all-American dog name like Rover or Bear, but who also answers to Ajax after that Homeric phase last year, and Rover/Bear/Ajax is obsessed with Todd. He walks him to class. He follows him to poetry recitals and sits politely by a table with his tail wagging like mad. Half of his doggy heart has devoted itself entirely to Todd.
Todd has a sleek grey Abyssinian who is both his ESA and quite possibly considers herself his guardian. Probably she has some very ridiculous fancy name like Mme. Delacroix III but Mme. has a graceful bearing and suits her name very well. Throughout the whole time Todd has had her they have come to an agreement that Mme. will consent to companiable silence and the odd head scritch but will NOT, under any circumstances, cuddle. And then the first time she meets Neil - oops! Lap cat now! In the first month Neil and Todd live together, he hears her purr more than the rest of her life put together. Mme. is unrepentant.
("He has good taste," Neil concedes, gesturing at where Todd is sitting, pinned to the chair by fifty kilograms of sleepy dog. "And I can't blame him. But - really? Five years of brotherhood, Ajax? Abandoned?" Ajax cracks one eye open, huffs at him, and closes it again.
"Yes," says Todd, "I think so."
"I'm disowning him," Neil declares. "It's just - unfair, that's what it is!"
Todd makes discreet eye contact with Mademoiselle, who, in royal fashion, has prodded gently at Neil's arm until he lifted it, and settled herself in his lap with the poise of a diplomat. He is giving her scritches. He does not seem to be aware he is doing so.
"Perhaps I'm just cooler than you," he says, instead of reminding him.)

How To Tame A Sorcerer (50)
Series Master list
Tumblr media
Satoru stuffs his hands into his pockets, ignoring the pointed glare from Sesshomaru as they walked down the street. He wets his lips, the cool, crisp air, does absolutely nothing to cool the fire building in his veins. "So," he says with fake enthusiasm, "since you've so graciously accepted me as Kagome's mate. Does that mean you'll stop trying to claim her as your alpha female?" Now, Satoru is not an expert on demons—personally, he wouldn't be too upset if they just all disappeared one day. Well… Yakeru was growing on him and Buyo Jr. could stick around, but the others could kick rocks.
Especially this Sesshomaru and that wolf he mentioned. Satoru didn't even know the guy yet, and he already disliked him.
Sesshomaru slants him a look that would have Ijichi pissing himself, but he's not Ijichi and it will take a lot more than a couple of glares or threats of violence to make him fear anyone. Satoru rolls his tongue along the roof of his mouth as he notices a flyhead hanging on a woman's arm. Its eyes widen at the sight of him. There is always a surge of new curses around the holidays with all the negative emotions that holidays seem to bring out in people.
Satoru casually stretches his arms out, letting out a large yawn as he does. His outstretched hand exorcizes the curse easily. The woman shakes her head as she mutters under her breath, something along the lines of, "rude jerk."
Satoru quirks a brow at Sesshomaru. He wants him to say something. He dares him to say something, so he has a reason to see why Sesshomaru is so feared.
"You waste time on the weak. This Sesshomaru understands why the priestess is enamored with you."
Satoru smiles. His eyes squint behind his shades. Sounds like a backhanded compliment and he isn't sure if he should thank him or tell him to fuck off. "The answer is yes or no," he says, because in the end, Satoru is a menace at heart, and he has no problem poking the demon.
"Who knew that even the strongest suffered from insecurity," Sesshomaru drawls, the boredom dripping from each word is like a punch to the gut. "This Sesshomaru will not renounce her position as an alpha in my pack. The position gives her power and protection." Sesshomaru leads them to a parked Range Rover.
"S-Sesshomaru-sama!" a bald man exclaims as he rushes from the driver's seat to open the passenger one. "Oh, the six eyes is here. Not very impressive in person," he blubbers on, somehow not tripping over his own stubby legs.
Okay—they aren't that short, but the man insulted him first.
Satoru slides into the backseat, crossing his arms as he stares at the back of Sesshomaru's head. "I take it you know where the school is?"
"That poorly hidden school," baldie squawks as he maneuvers the car in the school's direction. The driver drives like a madman, swerving around and honking at the other cars. A drastic change from the uptight Ijichi, that is for sure.
"Could have teleported there," Satoru sing songs, pulling out his phone to check for any urgent messages from Shoko. He rates this drive a 3 out of 10, mostly because of the company, and somewhat because of how erratic the drive is. They've nearly crashed at least three times now. If he didn't have infinity running at all times, then he would be concerned.
"Jaken is a sufficient driver," Sesshomaru says. The car swerves sharply to the right as Jaken lets out a wail of happiness that sounds like a cat dying. Satoru opens his mouth and then promptly shuts it. His phone lights up before it vibrates.
It's bad news, he thinks. Shoko never calls him unless something awful has happened. Now, Kagome, on the other hand, Shoko calls for the most mundane things like whether she should eat the same salad for dinner as though eating one healthy meal will cancel out all the damage she's doing to her lungs.
"What happened?" he asks, not bothering with meaningless greetings.
"Cho is gone," Shoko replies. She inhales, probably taking a drag from her cigarette. Shoko's up to three packs a day. He'd tell her to find another vice, but the life of a sorcerer is short and with all the shit that Shoko sees, it's a miracle that she hasn't snapped yet.
His chest constricts. Those three blunt words confirm what he already figured from Sesshomaru's reaction. It makes little sense. Tsumiki is still a comatose state, so this must not be the same curse. "You lost a coma patient?" He shifts in the seat, throwing one leg over the other. His hand grips the phone tighter. "I know you cheated your way through medical school, but…"
Sesshomaru tilts his head back. Jaken slows down and makes a turn at the next light, pulling into a convince store parking lot.
"Hilarious." Shoko scoffs, the sound harsher through the phone. "She must have walked out. We would have been alerted if something snuck into the school. Maybe she went looking for her parents or something. She might not believe that they are gone. Trauma affects everyone differently."
"That's a long walk from the school," he says, catching the look Jaken sends Sesshomaru. "Call me if she turns back up." He ends the call. "Alright, what do you know?"
"Naraku wouldn't have attacked your clan without an escape plan," Sesshomaru says. "The priestess has clearly become weak in light of her new domestic endeavors."
"Fuck off."
"Don't you dare address Sesshomaru-sama with such foul language! You—you!"
"The half breed is most likely still alive. What his objective is, is cause for concern. Does the priestess have the jewel?"
He saw Naraku die. Saw the fear in his eyes when he couldn't escape the veil. Saw the finality in his body language as he accepted his fate and now Sesshomaru is saying that Naraku is somehow still alive. Satoru calls bullshit. When he kills someone, they stay dead. No exceptions.
"It merged with her. Let's pretend that Naraku is still alive just for funsies. He's never made a direct move to take Kagome. If that was his objective, then he could have tried a long time ago."
Like during the exchange event.
"Yakeru's sister took Kagome because of the baby and she knew of the jewel. Maybe the Shikon was huge in your world, but it doesn't seem to be that much of a threat here." He scratches his cheek. "Well, I'm supposed to be looking for a jewel that no one has ever seen before," he adds as an afterthought. He's tempted to have Megumi create a PowerPoint for him just so he can keep with who knows what. There are far too many players in this and far too much misinformation.
"Back to the estate," Sesshomaru commands. Jaken backs out of the parking spot and drives around the building. Satoru frowns when Jaken cuts the engine. He blinks at the familiar feeling of being transported in an instant. "Come," Sesshomaru says, striding forward, but Satoru is still stuck on how he can reach out and feel like he's touching the clouds.
Seriously? His estate was in the freaking sky? And did they just leave the car behind? How wasteful.
"Fancy place." He whistles. Satoru likes to think that the guards straighten themselves at the sight of him and not because of Sesshomaru. The gated doors swing open.
"Sesshomaru-sama," the guards greet, bowing. The glamor fades away from Sesshomaru and Jaken.
"Oh, Jaken, you should have kept the human disguise," Satoru complains, looking down at him. What was he? Some kind of imp with green skin? If he had seen him out on the street, he honestly would have thought that Jaken was a curse and not a demon.
"How dare you! I will have you know—"
"Jaken, go prepare the north wing for the priestess and her mate," Sesshomaru kicks Jaken, sending him flying. No one bats an eye. Perhaps Jaken and Ijichi have more in common than he first thought.
"We aren't staying with you."
"How do you plan on keeping the priestess safe from any human attacks? Or worse, you could have taken this Cho home with you, and then what?" Sesshomaru keeps walking. "You cannot always be by her side and the priestess would hesitate to strike down a child."
Kagome is friends with this guy?
"And you would?" He pays no attention to the elegance of the estate that really should be classified as a castle with how over the top everything is. He'd nearly forgotten that he is dealing with demons here, and no matter how much glamor they put on, it doesn't change what they really are. Almost as if Sesshomaru could feel him judging, Sesshomaru looks over his shoulder.
"You dealt with assassins as a child."
He did. His father and uncle thought it built character if he took care of them himself. His hands were stained before he even lifted a finger to exorcise a curse.
"Doesn't make it right," Satoru replies, pushing the memories away and stuffing them down into a box with a lock and chain. His child wouldn't be subjected to such horrors.
"Hn."
He hears the welcome sound of Kagome's laughter as they walk into a library. In the middle of the room, she's there surrounded by pillows, Yakeru, and another redhead that he doesn't know. Her face lights up when she sees him and he hates that he has more bad news to share. Satoru shakes his head.
"What up pops! Or should I call you dada?" The man waves a hand in the air. He's way too close to Kagome for comfort. His words give Satoru pause. Why would this demon refer to him as dad?
"Shippo, knock it off," Kagome says, pinching him on the cheek. "Ignore him. Did something happen with Cho?" Shippo's green eyes water over. His lips protrude out in a fake puppy dog look. Satoru wonders if this Shippo is a fox like Yakeru—they look far too much alike not to be.
"She wasn't at the school. It's possible that she tried to make her way back to the estate." Satoru strides forward, nudging Yakeru away with his foot. "But I don't think she would go back there," he says, sitting down next to her. "I doubt she even knows her way around."
The jujutsu world can be just as cruel as these demons, he thinks. Especially with how they treat women as nothing more than breeding stock and children as disposable.
"Question!" Shippo yells, leaning over Kagome and staring at him with such wonder that his skin crawls. "Can I impersonate Gakuganji and go dig around at the school?"
"How do you know the old man?"
Shippo gives him a blank expression.
Okay. Obviously, Shippo has poked around the school before. Maybe it's cocky of him, but Satoru just assumed that he was well known in the demon circles because he's the strongest.
"Depends. Are you going to be making things harder for me or harder for the geezer?"
"Satoru!" Kagome swats his arm.
"Harder for the old-timer, of course," Shippo says with a big grin. "And the Kyoto school is a little more traditional than Jujutsu High. I bet they have all kinds of stuff I can dig up." He rubs his hands together, sharing a wink with Yakeru.
Definitely a fox, Satoru thinks. Those two seem to share one brain cell. "Even if I said no, you would probably do it anyway," he replies. "We should have gone back to school and tried to retrace Cho's steps."
"How did you know about Naraku's attack?" Sesshomaru questions. His eyes flicker over to Kagome and then back to Satoru.
"I got intel from a subordinate within the estate." Satoru jerks a thumb towards Yakeru. "And he sniffed Naraku out."
"Hn."
"Oooh, I can translate," Shippo exclaims. He clears his throat. "What Sess is saying is that you guys are stupid to think that it would be that easy. Except for Kagome, because you have pregnancy brain and we love you." Shippo rubs the back of his head while Sesshomaru glowers at him. "Okay, he didn't exclude Kagome."
"And here I thought it was just his own hubris," Yakeru mutters. "I did find it strange that he couldn't escape his own veil."
"He's not working alone. They could have betrayed him," Satoru says. His mind races with the possibilities. Those curses took some of the cursed womb paintings, a scroll on the Shikon, and the few fingers of Sukuna that they had in their possession. Were they trying to boost their own power? "He was there when the curses attacked the school."
"Maybe he wants to create a new special grade or resurrect Sukuna?" Shippo throws out there. "What?"
"I can see resurrecting Sukuna," Satoru says, "but creating a new special grade?" He shrugs. It takes a considerable number of negative feelings to create a curse, let alone a special grade. "I don't see what this has to do with Cho."
"Cho is dead," Sesshomaru says with that monotone voice that Satoru is coming to hate. "Clearly, taking Kagome is not his objective."
"So, he's doing it for shits and giggles?"
"Hn."
"The Shikon," Kagome starts, "are there consequences if I were to make a wish on it?"
"Yes and no," Yakeru says after a beat. "Could you wish for anything? Yeah, you could wish for Sukuna's revival or even for all the curses to be wiped out. You wouldn't fall over dead because of a wish, but there would still be some consequences for everyone else." Yakeru glances at Sesshomaru and then at Shippo.
Dread pours into Satoru's gut. "Gonna, take a wild guess and say that someone has made a wish on the jewel before Kagome came along. What happened?"
"Nothing too bad," Yakeru says with fake cheeriness. "The wish only created curses."

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
Rules: answer the questions and tag fifteen mutuals
tagged by @beterparker shgjsghjksl!
1. Are you named after anyone?
according to my mother it’s the phonetic spelling (it is not) of Michaela Quinn medicine woman bc she liked the way Sully, specifically, pronounced the woman’s name but she did NOT want people nicknaming me Mike so fast forward to last year when one of my coworkers nicknamed me Mickey,,,,,momsauce was,,,,devastated,,
2. When was the last time you cried?
*Noir Detective Voice* Thursday, January 5th, 2022, hours before being diagnosed with COVID-19 and unknowingly six days into actually having it,,,,,ngl if i was like, a cartoon character, it would have been adorable and i find it infuriating but i fully did the, eyes swimming, valiantly holding back tears, until momsauce looks at me and FLOODGATES AND “I really don’t feel good” AND *STARTS SOBBING*
3. Do you have kids?
yes i have two daughters, Amicia de Rune and Wednesday Addams thank you for asking
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
i don’t think what i use even counts as sarcasm, it’s too obnoxious
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
usually just that they’re in the room
6. What's your eye colour?
brown
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy Endings, though Bittersweet is also good. I like to have my emotions wrung out and turned into a baseball bat which is then used to ALMOST murder me but then the ending turns out to be a highly competent doctor which then Heals Me and waters my crops and builds me a little house in the countryside to live out my days in peace
8. Any special talents?
i think my developing-stories hobby counts as a talent? it doesn’t really qualify as ‘special’, but i do be coming up with some Stuff and can make some pretty big leaps from very small prompts on the fly, which i didn’t realize until a friend pointed it out.
oh, also don’t know if it counts as a talent since there’s no on and off switch on it but irl people tend to come tell me their problems/backstory/any Drama(tm) they have going on even if we’ve barely spoken before that so
9. Where were you born?
A hospital in Alabama
10. What are your hobbies?
Painstakingly outlining stories and then usually not writing them, daydreaming about Blorbos, analyzing fiction, crochet, painting, sewing, a few little videogames.
11. Have you any pets?
YES i have three boys their names are Norrell, Chellers, and Eggroll. Eggroll is actually the eldest, he is gray and fluffy and smaller than the others. He was an outside cat until last August, when we moved and brought him with us. He has been thoroughly enjoying his retirement from the outside cat life. Norrell is SealPoint and Squishy and has big paws and Chellers is a fluffy black cat with no bones, they’re both four. These three are perfect and silly and i love them so much
12. What sports do you play/have played?
I played Red Rover once. OH!! I did paintball once. I think we used to play foursquare fairly frequently.
13. How tall are you?
Last time i was actually measured it was 5′1/2″ but i think it’s more like 5′2″ now, surely.
14. Favorite subject in school?
Originally it was Math but then we hit that part where Math was work and Language Arts was intuitive and it’s been Language/related ever since.
15. Dream job?
Being paid to live as Madame from The Aristocats

Mortefi x F!Rover 🕯️The Rover and Her Red Cat Researcher
🕯️Cross posted on AO3🕯️
Mortefi was a curious researcher, not letting the unusual stand in the way of finding answers. And answers are what Rover needed most right now, from who she was, where she came from, the list goes on. Despite the fog that still clouded her mind, Rover could not shake the feeling that Mortefi reminded her of something she knew was so dearly beloved. He was calm, noble, intelligent, curious…he just as equally appeared to be a dragon as he was a cat.

Mortefi x F!Rover 🩺Lovesick
🩺Cross posted on AO3🩺
Mortefi is fine. He swears he is fine. He insists that it's just a sickness. Nothing a little bit of Baizhi's medication can't cure. And none of this has absolutely anything to do with Rover. The fact that he feels anxious and flustered around her is purely coincidental. He just has a cold. That's it.

Jiyan x F!Rover 🐉 Dragon's Faith
🐉Cross posted on AO3🐉
Rover has been with Jiyan for a fair amount of time now, and for the most part, she's grown to be rather comfortable around him. Once matters in Huanglong have settled and General Jiyan's troops returned to routine drills, she decided to join him to assist in supervision. After all of this time, why is she all of a sudden nervous around him?

Jiyan x F!Rover ✿ Forget-Me-Never
✿Cross posted on AO3✿
“Our flower has been growing quite well,” Rover said. “You’ve been watching over it this entire time?” Jiyan asked, somewhat surprised. “Of course. Raising one of your favorite flowers is like taking care a part of your soul, and I couldn’t possibly disregard something of that importance.”

F!Rover x Scar 🔪 Tattered Perception
🔪Cross posted on AO3🔪
No matter how pleasurable they may sound, perhaps it is best that daydreams do not become reality. Especially if the guy you have a crush on is a bit…deranged, to put things nicely.

Aalto x M!Rover🐑Matchmaker
🐑Cross posted on AO3🐑
Encore is tired of hearing Aalto daydream and drool over Rover. Encore must take things into her own hands. Encore has a plan.

Xiangli Yao x F!Rover 🌙 The Huanglong Moon is Beautiful, isn't it?
🌙Cross posted on AO3🌙
Even those who are most selfless have a wish that they hope to come true. The Huanglong wishing tree isn't all-knowing; it cannot discern one's wish unless it is voluntarily shared. Some wishes are better saved for the only one who can fulfill it, rather than shouting it at the moon and expecting the heavens to answer.

Baizhi x Xiangli Yao 🌙 Grim Stars
🌙Cross posted on AO3🌙
One arm. One last breath. One woman to bring his end.

Xiangli Yao x Xiangli Yao 🟪 Intoxication, Domination
🟪Cross posted on AO3🟪
When one refuses to seek the assistance of others, it is up to themselves to fulfill their desires, one way or another. Xiangli Yao was a people pleaser. Naturally, "people" included everyone but himself. A taste of his own medicine was the only way to get through to him.

Xiangli Yao x F!Rover 🥚 Two Eggs
🥚Cross posted on AO3🥚
A routine so perfected, that it was practically second nature to him. No disruptions, no room for error.

Mortefi x F!Rover 🛏️ Victorious Defeat
🛏️Cross posted on AO3🛏️
In which accepting a loss can ultimately be a victory for the self.
