Twins Take Series From Padres!

The Minnesota Twins have been disappointing in May, but a walk-off win from Alex Kirilloff might have changed the luck in the clubhouse. The Twins looked to take the series from the Padres this afternoon at Target Field. The Padres got cooking right away as Fernando Tatis Jr. smoked a Bailey Ober first pitch fastball out to left for a lead-off home run in the first. The Twins would answer in the second as Alex Kirilloff led-off with a base hit to right and Jorge Polanco lined a single to center. Kyle Farmer was hit in the arm by a pitch and Joey Gallo drew a bases loaded walk to even the game at one. San Diego got back to work in the fourth as Manny Machado led-off with a double to center and Juan Soto doubled him home. The Twins countered as Kyle Farmer knocked a Yu Darvish slider out to left for a solo homer to tie the game at two all. Rougned Odor put San Diego back on top with a solo blast off Bailey Ober. Both starters finished off six solid innings and it was up to the bullpens today. the Twins had one more rally in the seventh as Joey Gallo lined a one-out single to right and Ryan Jeffers was hit by a pitch. Byron Buxton drew a walk and Max Kepler reached on a fielder’s choice that plated a run. Carlos Correa plated a pair with a double to left and the Twins led 5-3 after seven frames. Brock Stewart got in and out of trouble in the eighth and Jorge Lopez had a 1-2-3 ninth as the Twins took the series from the Padres this afternoon. 

-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober looked good against a tough lineup. He threw six innings and allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Emilio Pagan had a scoreless seventh and Brock Stewart loaded the bases then got out of the jam in the eighth. Jorge Lopez had a perfect ninth for the save. Joey Gallo led the offense with two hits and the team hit 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. They left six men on base. The Twins have taken series against some good teams, including the Astros, Yankees, and Padres. The Cubs come to town for a three-game series tomorrow night. Drew Smyly faces Sonny Gray in the series opener on Friday night.
