Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake launches October 24 - Gematsu
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake will launch digitally for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on October 24, publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Kou Shibusawa announced.
In Japan, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake will be available both physically and digitally in standard and limited editions across all platforms.
Get the latest details below.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake is based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII with Power Up Kit, complete with both the “All Officers Play” and “All Periods Scenarios” features, as well as a host of new content to deliver the most complete Romance of the Three Kingdoms experience to date. Among the new additions, the number of playable officers has been increased from approximately 600 to 1,000. With newly added officers and forces, players can discover new events and relationships between officers for an even more authentic experience. The “All Periods Scenarios” feature has also been updated to offer over 55 scenarios, including fictional ones, making it the largest number of scenarios available in the series history. From the end of the Eastern Han dynasty to the final age of the Three Kingdoms period, players can choose any officers and which period they’d like to play, creating numerous possible combinations for an experience unique to each player. Through the evolved “All Officers Play” feature, players have the option to take control of the powerful rulers and the officers who serve them or be a free officer and join a vagrant army. This enables players to explore the Three Kingdoms with a fresh and unique experience every time through thanks to the incredible amount of new features and the variety of associations formed both on and off the battlefield highlighted by both “Symbiotic” and “Antagonistic” relationships. “Symbiotic” relationships are established when the player interacts with other officers through situations like commands or events and a certain number of “sympathies” occur. When a player is in a “Symbiotic” relationship with another officer, the officer will join and help the player in many situations, including domestics, councils, and battles. On the other hand, if the relationship is “Antagonistic,” the officer will not accept visits from the player and may even hunt them on the battlefield. Another unique strategy element to Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake is the addition of the powerful and unique “Traits.” Helping officers stand out, “Traits” is an ability possessed by some officers with exceptional achievements or memorable anecdotes in history. For example, Cao Cao is able to act twice in council and Liu Bei is able to meet with officers without fail. The variety of relationships built up throughout the experience are now dramatically displayed through a number of new elements. Players will be able to check on the constantly changing dynamics of each relationship through the “Relationship Chart.” The “Relationship Chart” not only shows relationships like “Sworn Siblings” and “Spouses” but also depicts special relationships such as Destined Partners,” “Rivals,” and “Sworn Enemies,” as well as displaying the various “Symbiotic” and “Antagonistic” connections. As relationships deepen with others, “Linked Forge” may even occur during battles and missions. These special links allow for a better performance beyond individual capabilities in various situations. In addition, many events in the game, ranging from major historical incidents to anecdotes of officers can now be initiated by officers through “Tales.” This allows players to selectively participate in the events of their choosing. Additionally, some events offer choices and the player’s decisions will dynamically alter the lives of officers and the Three Kingdoms.

i had no idea that your lu bu design was from wo long, it looks so cool!!
Thankies! Yeah Wo Long has amazing character designs and Lü Bu has such a peak design. Only complaint is how his face is half hidden behind that mask for most of the game because it makes my job harder :(
So I’m basically giving him facial reconstruction surgery. Have a doodle.
Goddamnit Lü Bu not again. Man needs better hobbies, like crochet or something.
I love his characterization, how intimidating and mysterious yet undeniably human he is. And he’s a rather difficult boss fight. Because of course he is. 10/10 would get my ass kicked 40 times again.
#Jokes on him I have beaten him without taking any damage armed with a whip and my character dressed in a pretty princess outfit#Shenanigans aside I recommend Wo Long its take on RotTK is a blast to go through#I might do some rambley post about it’s story and how I would improve some elements#But for now it’s just brainrot#also apologies for the late response I had a chaotic day#request ask

Re: Boku no Hero and the ending debacle.
I can't really agree with other anon more. The people who wanted bkdk and tgck together keep forgetting what the demographic/genre for the things they like. There was another ask on here some time ago basically saying something along the lines of "Just because you like something doesn't mean the target demographic or genre magically changes." Yeah. That's it. Sure, there are some queer relationships in battle shonen, like Sensui in YYH, but there are so few that it's still pretty laughable to expect that to occur in every battle shonen, especially one from WSJ. Yeah, Deku and Bakugou's relationship is the most developed because it's a staple of the genre/demographic category. It comes from old stories like Water Margin and Romance of the Three Kingdoms that emphasize the interpersonal dynamics and loyalties between men in an idealized fashion. In RotTK, there's even a scene where Liu An sacrifices and feeds his wife to Liu Bei, and this is presented as a heroic, filial, honorable action. The relationships between men and women, even if they're already husband and wife, aren't as important as those between men. It's just a staple of the genre, and things like battle shonen and seinen carry on the torch. It's not even like the epilogue says Deku and Ochako have a little mini van full of kids. They're just going to likely flirt and date. What's wrong with it? Again, it's a battle shonen. It's made for 12 year old boys with the expectation that very few want to read about romance--which they don't! It doesn't matter if Deku and Ochako have a deeply fleshed out relationship because it's not as necessary to sell to the demographic, unfortunately, because one is a woman.
Still, bkdk was never going to become canon. Just like sns, or any HQ!! ship, or anything between Mikey and Takemicchi, etc. never became canon. What you guys want is fantasy action bl. Read that. There's plenty of it. It's not even hard to find with the internet nowadays.

one of my funniest experiences with gpt was getting it to finally understand counterintuitive word problems ("when I was six, my sister was half my age...") not by explaining them, but by forcing it deep into a RotTK roleplay and randomly springing the question on it at a dying liu bei's bedside
making it speak in drawn-out prose, for whatever reason, made it actually work out the problem instead of just using the numbers

32in24-10.wad: 32in24-10: MAPS FOR THE MAP GOD MAP19: Doublequick (-736, -464, 0) Author: The 32in24 Team! Date: 2010-11-01 Description: "In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Yeoman Engineers and Designers of Software." Their assignment this week was to produce 32 levels suited for 4-8 player free-for-all deathmatch within 24 hours. Thanks to a timely ambush by dastardly terrorists, it took them 48 hours to accomplish this. In spite of this, YEDS hopes that this megawad will be worthy of your perusal. The levels in this iteration of the series are: MAP01: Lawn Wake IX by esselfortium MAP02: Grayscale by Mechadon MAP03: Wood, Stone, and Steel by The Green Herring MAP04: Techbase, Bloody Techbase by Tib MAP05: Baseheads by Melon MAP06: Boxed In by Solarn MAP07: Lord Assburger's Manor by Craigs MAP08: Perfect Blue by Walter Confalonieri MAP09: High Roller by Icytux MAP10: Terror Towers by TrueDude MAP11: Eat Dirt by Jimmy91 MAP12: See and Hunt Thy Enemies by Philnemba MAP13: Mithanthaya by tm512 MAP14: Delirite by Mechadon MAP15: Five Piece Chicken Dinner by Revenant MAP16: Abandoned Mining Complex on Tiberius Alpha by RottKing MAP17: Stretch Mark Labs by 40oz MAP18: Need That Soulsphere by Forty-Two MAP19: Doublequick by Icytux MAP20: Canyon Target by kuchikitaichou MAP21: Stoned Grasshopper by Xtroose MAP22: Big Trouble in Fuzakistan by Walter Confalonieri MAP23: Oh No! You're welcome. MAP33: The Fly by Joshy MAP34: Ballistic Base by KingLunar MAP35: Symmetrical Shit by ClonedPickle MAP36: Welcome to the DWANGO by Walter Confalonieri MAP37: Hell Arena Deathmatch XL by RottKing And last, but not least, here's a pair of levels that were made for previous 32in24s, but didn't quite make it. Think of these as 3.5th anniversary bonus levels! Or don't! See if they care! MAP38: MILITARY BIJW by Bucket (originally for 32in24-8) MAP39: Filler Techbase by Icytux (originally for 32in24-9)

That did not work as well as I had planned.
Evidently, if I don't have Tumblr to waste time on, I just roll around bored, play Cookie Clicker, or use my phone web browser to find entertainment (i.e. YouTube).
I am not willing to delete my PDF viewer app to stop myself from reading RoT. Absolutely not. I will get off my phone once I finish the 70+ volumes-then maybe I would just read RotTK (source material) to resolve the cliffhanger.
Bold words from a man on volume 33, who promised himself to stop after "one more arc", who is still addicted even after the guy previously mentioned to refuse to die has died to plot and canon reasons.
(Bonus: incomprehensible acronym translation because this blog is getting out of hand on these due to me being a lazy fuck. RotTK is always Romance of the Three Kingdoms BOOK unless otherwise stated. The RoT I use is not present on the acronym finder because nobody would talk about it in English, it is always The Ravages of Time, comic series. RotK is unrelated to all previous and means Return of the King, LotR. I cannot type in Chinese. Forgive my insolence.)
And no, I will not be reinstalling the mobile app and making 30 posts an hour.

#44: Double Impact (2011)
Double Impact is tough for me to say too much about, but on the whole I would agree it deserved its 2011 Cacoward. This, in my eyes, is what id Software had in mind for Knee-Deep in the Dead had technology been advanced a bit at the time. It's E1 on steroids, arguably even more to an extent than WADs like "Doom the Way id Did" or (in hindsight) entirely different ancient beasts like "Fava Beans". There is no beating Double Impact in the E1 mimicry-but-better department. I won't deny that.
On HNTR, it's not too bad, I hear stories from other Doomers that on higher difficulties there's a lot of rockets involved and way more D1 midtiers, but for the most part it was just incidental goofy fun exploring for well-hidden secrets.
That's another thing I can give DBI its flowers to - the exploration and secrets. All of these spaces feel lived-in, secrets are properly Doomy and nothing ever feels like it borders on realism for the sake of trying to make something logical - it's still a video game at the end of the day, but it does its job well and still provides some nice Vanilla setups like with E1M6's dark MIDTEX maze or the penultimate E1M7's nukage lowering that affects (I believe) all nukage in the map.
There's touches of Hell in here, namely Doom E2 - in fact, the secret map of this set might as well be from E2. Aesthetic is immaculate in this set, and at least on the difficulty that I played on, it never felt overbearing, maybe a souped up E1, sure; but nothing out of my depth. That was the case until I got to the boss map.
It would appear that Rottking and Ralphis wanted the player to end on a bang here, as you're tasked with clearing out (I believe) 6 Cyberdemons and a Spider Mastermind WITH the Doom 1 arsenal sans BFG (there's a secret plasma - good luck getting ammo for it!). It's a roaming switchhunt and I kept having to resurrect myself in GZDoom, secrets are weirdly overlain at the very start of the map; it's the most abstract and challenging this set gets, and for 2011 (the dawn of a more experimental era for Doom mapping) you have to admire that it took until the final map for things to get batshit crazy.
I'm not gonna hold E1M8 against this set even if it wasn't for me. On the whole, Double Impact is a must-play for Doom 1 fanatics that want a little bit more out of their IWAD experiences - while not straying too far from the blueprint. Don't be afraid to cheat on the final map though - I wouldn't blame you! ;)

One thing that always kind of confuses me about most Koei ROTTK games is that Jiangdong is always shown as being totally uncontrolled by any warlords in the 189/190 start date. Is there any historical basis for this? If not, who should be the major power in the area?
In 193, Tao Qian tried to assert his control over the region. After Dong Zhuo's death he tried unsuccessfully to establish an allied regime in the capital, and he tried to extend his control north and south of Xu province. To the north, Kong Rong in Beihai became a vassal. To the west he installed Liu Bei in Pei. He appointed his subordinate Wang Lang to Kuaiji and allied with local leaders in Danyang and Wu. However, his grip on power was tenuous.
Not long after Tao Qian began these efforts, Yuan Shuw as driven east by Cao Cao and took up residence in Shouchun. This cut Tao Qian off from Yang; and because the two were allied against Yuan Shao and Cao Cao, Tao Qian could not fight about it. Then Li Jue's regime appointed Liu Yao as the head of Yang province. Tao Qian's various southern affiliates turned to him as their leader from 193 onwards.
Prior to all of this, these territories were under the control of Han-appointed governors and local strongment.
Danyang was governed by Zhou Xin in the 180s until he was driven out by Sun Ben in 194. A local Yue leader named Zu Lang was also prominent during this span.
Wu was governed by Sheng Xian in the 180s. In 193 he was replaced by a local strongman named Xu Gong, who then allied with Tao Qian, then Liu Yao. The Yue leader White Tiger Yan (Yan Baihu) was also prominent throughout.
In Kuaiji, Wang Lang was appointed in 193 and does not seem to have encountered any difficulty in establishing himself there. The position may have been vacant before his arrival. The Han population was small there, and there is no particular strongman among the Yue tribes to point to as a leader.
