Another random pencil sketchdump while I wait for my laptop to charge.
Oval-shaped faces are personally tricky to do digitally compared on paper. And guess who has an oval-shaped face??
On the third pic's bottom left, I tested giving Connie a little heart-shape to see how it looks because heart-shapes are relatively the easiest to me digitally; maybe I can cheat a bit there, you know? (And it works great for others.) And to be honest.. I'm really not sure about it. :/ I definitely like the one on the right more. But how the heck is it so hard to do on the tabbbbb?
Oh! Also skitched @pogostikk's short-haired Connie and clown boi Steven. I love them. 🥺💕

I wanted to create a little bouquet, to speak for me. It's a shame that my mind is a little too fried to remember any meanings... A little nosegay of weeds is the best I can manage, it seems.

There was a rose dress that @creep3r-chan made that looked so cute, I had to draw little Bluebell, and her Grandma Magnolia wearing them.
Tumblr media
But since the rose dress wasn’t coloured in, I thought that maybe it was okay that the petals can be different colours.
I did add a little overcoat on Bluebell, sorry :3
Here’s the link to the Original Post:
It was really fun to do.

Ok new thing, rb and put in the tags:
Do you have the game cats and soup
If you have it, do you name your cats anything specific (I name all of mine after flowers, my friend names his after musicals)
If you do, how do you name them
Examples! Tell me the names of your cats and soup cats

Native wildflowers collection pt 2
Continued from part 1
Wild white indigo. These grow seed pods and then break off and tumbleweed around to spread their seeds.
Tumblr media
Blazing star. There are several species of this and I think this one is prairie blazing star
Tumblr media
Culver's root
Tumblr media
Daisy fleabane. This was burned and the ashes were used as a flea remedy.
Tumblr media
Joe Pye weed
Tumblr media
Elderberry. You can chop up the branches of this, put them in the ground, and as long as there's enough water, they will grow into new bushes.
Tumblr media
Wild petunia (left), wild geranium (right), and wild hyacinth (bottom). I like them more than the ornamental cultivars
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Showy tick trefoil. These seeds are easy to collect. Walk through the prairie for a while and you'll have a few hundred stuck to your clothes.
Tumblr media
Tall bellflower
Tumblr media
Heal-all
Tumblr media
New England aster or aromatic aster. I don't know how to tell them apart. Usually purple, but sometimes you find a bright pink one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Evening primrose
Tumblr media
Wild onion
Tumblr media
American bush clover
Tumblr media
Rose mallow (left) and halberd-leafed rose mallow (left). The latter gets smaller flowers and different shaped leaves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tall boneflower, which is a name I'm totally using for an undead plant in D&D
Tumblr media
Great blue lobelia
Tumblr media
Smartweed. These are absolutely tiny.
Tumblr media
Spring beauty, a cute little spring ephemeral
Tumblr media
Bloodroot. These are cool, they have giant rhizomes and bright red sap.
Tumblr media
Wild violet. These are usually purple, but sometimes you find a yellow one
Tumblr media
Trout lily.
Tumblr media
Virginia bluebell
Tumblr media
Trillium. You don't get as many of these around here as we'd like because the deer go absolutely wild for them
Tumblr media
Woodland phlox
Tumblr media
Wild hawthorn

Round 1; A bouquet of dandelions and buttercups Vs A bouquet of marigold, yellow and white zinnia, phlox, bluebells, cornflower, gladiolus, rosemary, dark crimson rose and purple cyclamen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you know who they are, or are pretty sure of it, please don't tell until this poll has ended!
First, let's talk about the bouquet of dandelions and buttercups
Meaning and why this flower was chosen: Dandelions! They're associated with her in the original source, and she and the protagonist have a bonding moment over them. They symbolise strength in adversity, change, and innocence, as she acts as a foil of sorts to the protagonist. In the semi-canon sequel this is changed to buttercups, so I'm including those also. They symbolise joy, youth, purity, happiness and friendship, which are key aspects of her character. Description: She's one of the only characters in the source to actually make the most of life. Unlike everyone else who slowly wastes away, she enjoys what she does, and teaches the protagonist to do so also.

Now, let's talk about the bouquet of marigold, yellow and white zinnia, phlox, bluebells, cornflower, gladiolus, rosemary, dark crimson rose and purple cyclamen
Meaning: Marigold - Grief Yellow and White Zinnia - Thinking (or in memory) or an absent friend Phlox - Our souls are united Bluebells - Kindness, constancy Cornflower - Hope in Misery Gladiolus - Integrity, Strength of Character Rosemary - Remembrance Dark Crimson Rose - Mourning Purple Cyclamen—Resignation and good-bye Description and why these flowers were chosen: Marigold, Yellow and White Zinnia, and Phlox: This character lost a dear friend. The loss affected him so deeply that when he laying his friend to rest, his soul fragmented and part of it remained in the resting place Bluebells and Cornflower: As a consequence, the character unknowingly granted themself immortality. He has not resigned themself to this eternal fate, though, and continue searching for a way to obtain long-deserved rest. Bluebells, Gladiolus, Rosemary, Dark Crimson Rose: The world they live in is decaying, with death but no new life. Yet, instead of letting the situation overwhelm and warp him, he chose kindness and dedication to his role. When beings who took advantage of the broken cycle of life and death in the world pass, this character is there to lay them to rest, frankly acknowledging their flaws but highlighting their good (or interesting) aspects and wishing them peace beyond life. Purple Cyclamen: Who is there to mourn him, to do for him as he did to others when he finally become whole and is able to rest? Only you.

Meet The Flower Guardians
Tumblr media
Angeline Kemp/Guardian Rose: 15 year old Angeline Kemp is a sweet and dramatic girl who has an undying passion for the performing arts, but she is particularly adores the world of acting. Both on the stage and behind the screen. She always where's her emotions on her sleeves and doesn't try to hide them (Not even the negative ones.). But she also has a heart full of love and compassion. Especially to her friends and family. With her flowery companion Rosie, she transforms into Guardian Rose, the spirit of the flower of love and friendship.
Tumblr media
Colleen Rollins/Guardian Bluebell: Colleen Rollins is Angeline's best friend and aspiring singer and songwriter. A shy and timid young lady who's not used to being in the spotlight, she struggles putting herself out there, as well as having self esteem issues she struggled with as a child. She has a talented singing voice. But doesn't really let it get to her head, and is more likely to congratulate others for their talents before she does herself. With her flowery companion Azul, she transforms into Guardian Bluebell the spirit of gratitude and humility.
Tumblr media
Isabel Nelson/Guardian Sunflower: Isabel Nelson is one of the two campers Angeline and Colleen meet when they first arrive at Camp Orianna. She is a former basketball player who gave it up to pursue her true passion for dancing. Tired of having to suppress herself in order to be the "son" her father wanted her to be instead of the girl she really is, she had spent the last three years living with her mother and stepfather and adjusting to new aspects of her life. Still having the "in it to win it" mentality she had during her basketball days, she is prone to being super competitive and doesn't know how to take losing well. But she's also fiercely loyal to her loved ones and will always have their back. With her flowery companion Sunshine, she transforms into Guardian Sunflower, the spirit of the flower of loyalty and adoration.
Tumblr media
Victoria "Tori" Williams/Guardian Violet: Victoria "Tori" Williams is Isabel's childhood friend and one of the two campers Colleen and Angeline meet when they first arrive at Camp Orianna. Having moved in with her two uncles and cousin after her parent's messy divorce and being cut off from her inheritance, she has turned to painting and drawing to cope with her emotions and using her creativity as a form of escapism. On first impressions, she comes off as cold and harsh like any stereotypical "stuck up rich girl" on first impressions. But she is capable of kindness and compassion and only uses the "mean girl" aspect of her personality to protect herself. She is the most mature of the flower guardians. And often acts as the voice of reason to the other girls (Although she can be a bit to blunt and harsh at times.). With her flowery companion Viola, she transforms into Guardian Violet, the spirit of the flower of wisdom and creativity.
Finally managed to share some more OriGuard content. Starting with introducing the core four girls Tori, Isabel, Colleen, and Angeline.

Hey, just wanted to say that I really love Bluebells are Forever and Melting Gelid Roses! I found both of them by accident years ago and would every-so often come back to check your progress. (I’m currently writing this in the middle of my 3-4th reread).
I just wanted to say thank you, you gave a lot of hope to a young gay man when he didn’t have any. So, thank you.
Hi there! Thank you very much for writing in to me!
It's delightful to learn that you stumbled across the fanfics by accident. Part of me wonders how often that happens to my readers and I haven't a clue. Very fun to consider though!
Anyway, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed both BAF and MGR so much. Those were two very enjoyable fanfics to write and helped me expand my skills in world-building. For Pokemon fanfics, they became something very enjoyable to create, and the audience interactions were something that I don't think I can recapture with any other piece of work that I've done or perhaps ever will do.
The stories themselves feel enchanting to work on, and I love the amount that I was able to research when I was younger. I think that, because the world itself had to be built up with outside references from the franchise, that gave more creative freedoms than I had worked with previously.
Also, making many couples as gay as I wanted was great fun, lol. But, I think there was a sense of wholeness to their characterizations too, and that made their journeys more compelling for readers to follow. Plus, since the leads are gay, that allows readers to relate to them better than they're given the opportunity to do so normally.
At any rate, I've rambled enough. You're welcome for the stories, and I'm honored to hear that they gave you hope when you faced bleakness in life. I do hope that things have turned around for you, and that there are many more beautiful things in the world that can inspire hope, joy, love, and wonder in your life.
If there are now, and you're doing better, that's delightful to know, and I hope it continues to progress along nicely! But, if not, then I do want you to know that there are going to be moments that will feel overwhelming and awful, and I want you to keep in mind that they are just that: moments. Life is full of ups and downs, and that mostly remains out of our control.
However, those downs will not last, and as long as you remember to find even just the smallest joys from the ups, those are worth it. I've been to dark places before myself, but, I've come to learn as I grow that they are not permanent. Some can even teach us and help make us stronger; you don't realize the challenges you can face until you're coming out from the other side of them.
So, I wish good luck and well wishes to you, and hope that your days are better more often than not. Again, it was a pleasure to hear that my stories were able to bring a little light to your life, and that kind of response warms my heart more than you realize.
Hope you enjoy your latest re-read! And I'd like to imagine that I'll update the 3rd story this year for the series' tenth anniversary come December, but, we'll see about that. But that's neither here nor there as much; I hope you have a wonderful day/week, and please take care as well! All the best!
