The chilling adventures of Sabrina could’ve been a 10/10 show.

It was dark, campy and creative.

It tackled sexuality, gender identity, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, and to top it off most of the main characters were actually interesting.

Even the mortal storylines at Baxter high were just as engaging as the storylines at The academy of unseen arts… where they studied actual magic and the occult.

And while there were a few small issues that presented themselves in the later parts of the series

the one constant irritation for me throughout all four parts was the entitled, immature, narcissistic, privileged, hypocritical self centered white savior of a main character…

I still think it's a misstep not to highlight more of the queer voices and experiences in the Pride episode.

Those should be at the foreground, not just the backdrop to cram in the multiple plotlines.

The sense of defeat was palpable in the beanery scene. Also the sense of support. Maya felt safe to share about Mason and was told to go home to her wife and baby. But I feel they should have let Ben voice his frustrations to what happened to Rosalind and say something specific about Rosalind as a trans woman or his experience as her brother. Rather than let Beckett reiterate his view that Pride parades were circuses and kind of then deem them not as bad as the fascists' protests?

The struggle and dissent became bigger n louder while the celebration became smaller n quieter. The party at the station somehow seemed like Pride should only be contained in a safe space cos being out and proud is dangerous. Though true, still kind of sad. It is most ironic to have Ross pay lip service to same-sex marriage but have their only married same-sex couple's first scene in their new home with their new baby to be such a small part of the celebration.
