I had managed to hit the exact perfect setting on our dumb-ass upstairs thermostat to keep it within a few degrees of 70 for an entire-ass week, and then downstairs decided to adjust their thermostat by 5 degrees (which, fair, they had it at 65 before and it was a little chilly down there) but now it's thrown the upstairs one off (because the upstairs thermostat only senses the temperature from downstairs, not upstairs where it's affecting the temps) and I've been trying to find the perfect setting again but so far it's either swinging up to 80 when I'm trying to go to bed or dropping down to 60 when I'm trying to get up (or work on my paper, which I'm not very motivated to do when I'm cold).
Ideally we would just get some sort of remote sensor in one of the two rooms being affected and be able to set the thermostat at the temperature that we want rather than some random number, but I'm not sure how many more things I should be pointing out to the landlady when I've not even been here half a year lol

I pretty much did nothing but rest all weekend and yet I am still feeling so sick :( the sore throat in particular is killing me. I have to co-facilitate yet another team retreat tomorrow to process this report, followed by a bunch of other meetings, but I’m hoping I can sneak out a little bit early and get a strep test at urgent care before I have to pick up the boy. I have a long history of being convinced I have strep throat and then not having it so fingers crossed I’m just being a baby about some post-nasal drip that will clear up on its own. hmm okay I’m kind of in a mood about having to go into work tomorrow (our building is SO COLD and I just feel like if I’m sick I should be allowed to work from the warmth of my own home!!!) but I gotta shift my attitude or I’ll just make myself irritable and miserable. I can make it through three days! and then I’ll have four days at home.

only got 4 hours of sleep bc somehow our heat turned on overnight instead of the AC (none of us touched it) and I woke up in a puddle of my own sweat in an 82 degree room

No crafting updates today because it was over 70 degrees out and I temporarily forgot air conditioning A. exists and B. needs to be turned on because C. my brain stops working well when it gets too hot* *I have some dysautonomia issues that make me like one of those plants they recommend to people who have never had houseplants that wilts dramatically when it needs water

Okay, everybody say a prayer that my theory about the dry air situation in my room is correct and that the terrible DIY job I just did using tape to seal off the air leaks in the adjoining room that’s connected to my room by a vent does the trick, because I am sick of the daily winter choice between “refill a giant humidifier that warps the wood of your furniture and could potentially cause you to breathe in carcinogens” and “feel like you came down with the flu during allergy season within literally 15 minutes of just sitting in bed unhumidified.”

I did the ‘foil shiny side out over your windows’ trick today because it was gonna be hot and I feel like a genius. I can’t remember the last time it was this hot and I went from the hallway to my room and my room actually felt colder - especially in the afternoon.

For the extra good experience, watch it with someone who hasn't yet. Then get really excited every time a new revelation hits you and confuse the fuck out of them.
I think it's a sign of good media when you have to reread or rewatch it to get the full experience. First time is for getting your brain blasted by the story and being confused second time is for knowing who's who and what's what and willingly getting your brain blasted again.

Crafting update! - I set out to make a teddy bear (either a memory bear or a Bucky Bear, whichever, both are on my to-make list) - I did not do that - I have a baby quilt almost done??? I mean I’d already had the quilt top done, but I made the quilt sandwich, pinned it in place, and quilted it - I’m pausing to cool down because it’s currently hot* in the room where my sewing machine is, but once I’ve cooled down all I need to do is trim the backing and batting to size and add the binding. Almost done!! :D *it’s not that hot I am just a delicate plant that thrives in a very very narrow temperature range
