La condition pavillonnaire de Sophie Divry
Ce roman évoque une femme insatisfaite de sa vie confortable, ennuyeuse et répétitive.

Lent 2023
“Give something, however small, to the one in need. For it is not small to one who has nothing. Neither is it small to God if we have given what we could.” St.Gregory Nazianzen

The Friday before Palm Sunday, also called Friday of Sorrows, is a remembrance of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Like Mary, we can unite our suffering to Christ, especially during the Lent season ❤️

Jesus in the Desert
For the start of Lent, here's the project I worked on last Lent (trying to do five minutes a day to stop myself from spending too much time on projects but also to be more regular at it.
I've gone for a Roman era influence, hence the short hair (although I was tempted by the long hair seen in later artworks). I could not resist a beard, but this works for philosophers (I think, less up to date with the Roman stuff) and spending 40 days in the desert. The tunic is natural linen although I went with a long one because I cannot draw knees. The himation is wool, I've gone with a madder dye, but could equally be a natural red brown. I've also drawn a tallith (as a practitioner of the Jewish faith), which is loosely based on the depiction of Moses in the Dura-Europos synagogue.
The sun is rising/setting and this has given everything a purple/red tint

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” —Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Lent Devotional By Gideon Heugh (Tearfund) - Day 2: “Renewing our minds”:
“What is the pattern of this world? It might not be possible to know exactly what Paul meant by this, but looking at the world around us, we can discern some of the ‘isms’ that shape it:
Cynicism. Believing that human nature is fundamentally selfish.
Consumerism. Believing that happiness is found in acquiring more things.
Capitalism. Believing that endless economic growth is possible and should be relentlessly pursued.
Individualism. Believing that we should all be self-reliant – responsible for our own lives alone.
This pattern of the world has led to great injustice, destruction, and sorrow.
Let us renew our minds and believe the truth that all humans are made in God’s image. Let us believe in enough, that less is more, and that simple is beautiful. And let us believe in each otherness, connection, and community.
Prayer: Loving God, form our lives into a more beautiful pattern. Renew our minds, so they are shaped by faith, hope, and love. And help us all to bring heaven here. Amen.”

I summon the angels of the Lord Father God and ask them to build a shield of protection around me, my family and my home. I invite you, blessed Holy Spirit, to fill our lives and our home with your presence, peace and joy. All this I pray in the mighty name of the Lord Father God, to his glory, Amen! 🌹

Like all THE BEST Catholics, I'm a bad Catholic. Even I know Catholics CAN NOT eat meat on a Friday in Lent.
HOWEVER, St Patrick's Day is on a Friday on Lent this year so the pope MAY waive the meat-rule for the Catholic Irish diaspora's celebrations.
Tumblr media
Seems petty, but a previous pope declared beavers were fish for the convenience of French Catholic explorers in Canada.
