My favorite four tools for running a game:

Yes, And: most people are familiar with this. You accept what the player is doing and add to it. "I go to open the door." "You open the door and a large friendly dog jumps out, pinning you to the ground."

No, But: a lot of people know this one, too. You aren't letting the player Do The Thing, BUT something else happens! "I try to stab the shop keep." "The shop keep dodges your attack, but trips and falls to the floor, dropping the key he was palming."

Yes, But: much less used but fun! The player's choice works, technically, but there's Unexpected Consequences! "I go to smash the box." "Your mace falls squarely on the chest but it deforms, absorbing the blow and revealing a massive row of teeth!"

No, And: use with caution, for moments when the Fuck Around has occurred, and now it's Find Out's initiative. "I'm going to try and seduce the guard." "Unbeknownst to you, the guards are all eunuchs under a vow of celebacy and he takes significant affront at your presumption."

I don't use these for everything, but they're great tools for when an action needs a bit of back-and-forth.

Have fun, don't die!

"Seriously? Do you think I would pick something stupid like that?" Riley asked as she took her phone back and slipped it into her pocket. "If I am gonna choose an artifact, I am going to pick something cool like maybe a scythe... I think that would suit me very well, actually!" Riley said happily. She hoped she could get a scythe as her artifact now.

"As much as I like books....I wouldn't choose one as my artifact unless it could help me with casting spells...." Riley said wrinkling up her nose.

"But while we are walking, tell me a bit about yourself. I'd like to get to know the other people in my house, captian or not." Riley said as she took notice of some first year's who were watching them walk together. The way they turned their head and whispered to one another made Riley roll her eyes. She hated rumors.

Riley walked through the school with her head bowed. She was texting wildly on her phone then laughed loudly at one of the things her friends had said. "God that one was good." Riley muttered to herself then sighed.

She was one of the new ghouls belonging to the Sinostra house. Her golden eyes were stunning and her personality was infectious she seemed to be fitting in well.

Her head bowed towards her phone again to see just who it was that was messaging when she brought up solid in another body. Her phone clattered to the floor. "Well shit!" She exclaimed as she bent over to pick up her phone not even bothering to look up at whoever she smacked into.

"Anyone ever tell you that you need to watch where your going." Riley said turning her gaze to the male in front of her not even bothering to apologize for what was her fault in the first place. When her eyes met with a certain red hair individual, the 3rd year and the captain of the Sinostra house. "Well....fuck...."
