I need to write a big o fic but one idea in my brain I had for a au that I wouldn’t necessarily write yet I can’t get out of my head for some reason is a wizard of oz au and yes this is ONLY because “ahaa what if Dorothy was Dorothy” and yet I can perfectly assigned everyone else’s roles in my head a being:
-Pero is Toto
-Angel is Glinda
-Wicked Witch is Eugene (yes I’m fucking cursed like that)
-Scarecrow is Dan
-Tinman is Instro
-Lion is Beck (since he’s a joke villain)
-Oz is Roger
This is not at all the worse crossover I could think of compared to another dumb thing I thought about but I fucking hate my brain reaching these dumbass conclusions
#meg text#the big o#au ideas#Originally I didn’t wanna include instro cause he’s one off but no one else fits tinman#and I’m also using Pero despite what happens to him💀#I wanted to put Alex and Schwarz into this but they don’t really have anything to do with Dorothy#and Norman would be the servant who leads them to Oz#Alex COULD be oz but it be much more funnier if it was Roger but also the way this could be a meta thing#like this is when paradigm was first funded so Roger was at top opposed to rosewater#maybe Dorothy even human but instro still robo cause theming#god I hate how I’m putting logic into this

You’re the loveliest person Steve's ever seen, making him forget everything—even his own damn feet!
tags: steve rogers x you; established relationship; tooth-rotting fluff; SIMP ALERT!! SIMP ALERT!!; mr. steven grant rogers is a total goner for you.
warnings: none! no gendered language used for the reader.
word count: 729.
a/n: pictures used in header are from pinterest. dividers used here are by @saradika-graphics. mcu and its characters aren't mine. likes, comments and reblogs are highly appreciated!! hope you'll enjoy reading this!! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
The morning air is crisp, with winter's soft chill still lingering even as the promise of a warmer day peeks through. Steve walks beside you, his boots scuffing lightly against the pavement, each step unhurried. His vacation isn't over yet, and this week after New Year's feels like an extra gift. Borrowed time, he thinks, and he’s intent on savoring every moment of it—especially when it means moments like this: walking you to work.
You’re chatting away, your voice weaving a story about your family’s Christmas get-together, the one he missed while he was away. He listens intently at first, catching bits about your cousin’s infamous baking disaster and the hilarity of a chaotic gift exchange. Your laugh dances in the air as you recount your aunt accidentally unwrapping someone else’s present, and Steve finds himself smiling, warmed by the sound.
But then… he gets distracted.
It’s not anything else that pull his attention, but you.
The way the morning sun plays in your hair, turning it into a soft halo. The faint flush on your cheeks from the cold, a shade that deepens every time you laugh. The way your scarf sits a little crooked, like you’d rushed to put it on but didn’t care enough to fix it. Your breath puffs out in tiny clouds as you speak, your eyes bright and sparkling with joy, and suddenly, Steve feels his chest tighten.
God, you’re beautiful.
So much so that he doesn’t pay attention to where he’s walking anymore. He doesn’t notice anything but you. And then, his foot catches—on nothing.
Steve stumbles, his balance tipping for just a second. He catches himself quickly, but the movement startles you, and your hand shoots out to steady him before he fully rights himself.
“Steve!” you exclaim, your voice filled with worry as your hand stays on his arm. “Are you okay? What happened?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” he answers quickly, his voice just a little higher than usual. He rubs the back of his neck, avoiding your gaze as heat rushes to his face. “I, uh… just got distracted.”
Your brows knit together in concern. “By what?”
Steve hesitates, looking down at you. You’re standing so close now, your hand still lightly resting on his arm, and that crease of worry between your brows tugs at something deep in his chest. He could brush it off, laugh it away—but no. Not when you’re looking at him like that.
“You,” he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. “You’re just… really cute, you know that?”
Your eyes widen, and for a moment, you’re completely still, your breath catching in your chest. Then your cheeks take on a soft, glowing warmth, a color that feels as though it could melt the winter chill, and you duck your head, letting out a flustered laugh.
“Steve,” you mumble, half-embarrassed, half-scolding. “You can’t just say stuff like that.”
“Why not?” he asks, the corners of his mouth twitching into a soft smile. He tilts his head, trying to catch your gaze, his earlier stumble forgotten entirely.
“Because…” You falter, your words trailing off as you press your lips together, clearly unsure of how to respond.
Steve watches you, utterly captivated by how adorably flustered you are. His heart feels like it’s swelling in his chest, overflowing with affection, and he knows without a doubt that this—you—is his favorite kind of moment.
But before he can tease you further, you reach out and grab his hand, your fingers lacing firmly through his. “Come on,” you mutter, your voice quieter now. “We’re going to be late.”
Steve lets you pull him along, his hand enveloping yours as though it belongs there. He doesn’t say anything for a moment, content to watch you as you walk ahead, your blush still lingering, your head tilted slightly away from him like you’re trying to hide it.
But he doesn’t miss the way your grip tightens, soft and warm.
Steve gives your hand a gentle squeeze, a soft grin tugging at his lips as warmth floods his chest. He doesn’t need to say it aloud again—not yet. He’s too busy soaking in the sweetness of this moment, of you—
Because you don’t just look cute.
You’re everything lovely wrapped into one, and Steve thinks to himself, not for the first time, that he must be the luckiest guy in the world.

in my ideal super robot wars, Yatterman and Code Geass characters would know memes but Big O, TTGL, Evangelion, and Cowboy Bebop characters wouldn’t.
Gan makes a joke about Rosewater pissing on the moon and Roger just stares at him for an hour in sheer bafflement

3, 6, and 13 for book asks?
3. What were your top five books of the year?
The Glutton - A.K. Blakemore
this is a historical fiction book centered around the story (or the myth) of tarrare. yes, that terrare. the man with the insatiable appetite. this book tells tarare’s story from his birth to his death.
this book touched me in profound ways. this book has breathtaking prose. the artistry on display here makes my head spin.(i was not familiar with her previous work, but a.k. blakemore is also an acclaimed poet). this book is equal parts beautiful and grotesque.
i read this book back in february, which at this point feels like an entirely different lifetime. the book and its themes of alienation, queerness, and deep insatiable hunger seem to have found me at the exact right moment of my life.
and in case you were wondering, yes, he does eat the toddler. i nearly cried, and not for the reason you might think.
Bright Young Women - Jessica Knoll
this story follows two women and their search for justice after their lives were permanently altered by the “All-American Sex Killer”. this book explores the glamorization of serial killers and the misogyny faced by victims within the justice system. very graphic and likely not “for everyone”, but i could not put this one down.
The Honeys - Ryan La Sala
this is a YA horror following Mars, a genderfluid teen investigating a summer camp in the wake of their twin sister’s death. this one was so much fun. the mystery genuinely kept me guessing, and I loved the way the horror elements slowly escalated over the course of the novel. lots of fun and vivid imagery as well, i think this one could be classified as a "daylight horror". definitely recommend for those who are into YA or looking for fun (but still tense!) queer horror.
Certain Dark Things - Silvia Moreno-Garcia
a neo-noir following a vampire (Atl) and her newfound human companion (Domingo) as they plot their escape from a city hostile to vampires. the worldbuilding here was SO FUN. i adored learning about the alternate history of this world, the different subspecies of vampires, and vampire culture. I’ve only read one other book by this author, but she seems to have a knack for writing characters who are deeply lovable. this one was a real good time.
Rosewater - Tade Thompson
a post-colonial sci-fi set in nigeria after the arrival of alien life on earth. I came for the worldbuilding (which IS fascinating) but stayed for the narrator, kaaro. Kaaro is a fascinating protagonist, selfish and “unlikeable” at points, but by the end you understand more about his perspective, and i appreciated the experience of being in his head. HARD recommend for anyone who enjoys sci-fi/speculative fiction with horror elements.
6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?
SO many things 😭😭😭😭
There are many classic/influential sci-fi/fantasy/speculative fiction books that i want to catch up on… dune, parable of the sower, and the lord of the rings trilogy are the most pressing ones, i think.
Some more books i intended to read this year include man made monsters by andrea l. Rogers (YA horror anthology following a Cherokee family across several generations), hell followed with us by andrew joseph white (YA trans apocalyptic horror) and thistlefoot by gennarose nethercott (fantasy following the descendents of baba yaga). Maaaaybe i can squeeze one of them in before the end of the year?
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
ooh… i get to be a hater for a little bit 👀
Lore by Alexandra Bracken
…to be fair, i should have known exactly what i was getting into with this one. yet another YA novel with a “modern” spin on greek myth. Several bloodlines descended from mythic heroes hunt down gods made mortal in order to obtain their power. Despite the somewhat interesting premise, the characters felt like cardboard cutouts. The book was waaaay too long and drawn out, and i was practically begging for it to end. I also remember disliking the ending…… but at this point, i can’t distinctly remember anything that happens in this book. Bland and forgettable.
I also read a funny little novel called “love letters to a serial killer” this year. The library had the audiobook and i decided to listen for shits and giggles. It was just as awful as you would imagine, but shitting on it feels like kicking a dog when it’s down. There were moments when i was listening that i genuinely thought. “Is this satire? Is this a case study on cognitive dissonance? Is this book secretly an intelligent exploration of the warped morality of true crime obsession?” and the answer is NO, I’M A FUCKING IDIOT, the book ends with a paragraph about how the main character is pregnant and she doesn’t know who the father is: the serial killer, or the serial killer’s brother. Kill Me Now.

Are you ready for another western adventure with Roger's unique voice acting talent?
Rosewater is a point-and-click adventure game releasing on PC sometime in 2023 (according to IMDB anyway) from Grundislav Games. Though nowhere near as big and expansive as RDR2, if you are fan of westerns (or a fan Our Favorite Boah™), you should definitely keep it on your radar.
Rosewater also features the talents from other well-known artists in the industry, including Cam Clarke, Dave Fennoy, Cissy Jones and many others.
Story:
"It's been several years since Harley Leger left New Bretagne and headed west, hoping to leave the past behind and make her way as a freelance writer. After arriving in the sleepy border town of Rosewater, a seemingly trivial assignment for the local paper leads to the hunt for a missing man's fortune—and the story of the century.
Harley and her ragtag posse embark on a harrowing journey across Western Vespuccia, encountering bandits, rebels, visionaries, eccentrics, and many more friends and foes on their quest for fame and riches."
Features:
• A thrilling treasure hunt with 5 travel companions. Choices matter, relationships with your companions affect the trajectory of the story.
• Inventory is back, but logical, streamlined, and easy to use—no banging things together to see what sticks. Many situations have multiple solutions based on play style.
• Randomized encounter storylets on your journey, with different situations and outcomes that depend on your previous choices and available resources.
• Fully rotoscoped animations and cinematic closeups emphasize the action.
• High resolution 1280x720 graphics (yes, that's 720p!)
• Full music score by Lamplight City composer Mark Benis, featuring live instruments.
• Meet over 50 professionally voiced characters.

Grande Zero, begin the performance!
New batch of cool Big O cels and sketches! Most are from the first episode, Roger the Negotiator, with a few others mixed in. Not taking the time to source every one, but will do most.
First up, the iconic debut of Big O, rising up through the rubble of a building it is destroying, while coming up to the surface:

After the first Megadeus battle, Dastun notices Dorothy standing near where Dorothy I is about to crash down. He rushes over to save what he thinks is a human girl, only to find out she’s quite the heavy android:

There’s a cool Roger in shades about to walk into the Speakeasy, which is obstructed by the door in the show. Now you can see him in his full glory:

Roger drinking, when Dastun first visits him:

And Roger standing right before he sits down on his couch, when Dorothy also makes her first visit:

A few other nice Roger pieces (with one cel unfortunately stuck to the sketch with paint already peeled off on it, that I won’t separate), before we end with an Angel sketch from Ep. 7, which is basically a match to the cel I’ve already previously grabbed, albeit 2 frames earlier:
