One of the biggest heartbreaks I have experienced was when I first realized that I would never be able to experience Freddie sing The Show Must Go On live, not even on a video.

I need everyone to watch Queen's Live Aid performance.

Freddie was ill and had been warned not to sing at all -- instead, he's singing in a way that protects his vocal chords. He's not at 100%. There are multiple mistakes, from his guitar on one of the songs not starting loud enough to Brian May missing a chord and even Freddie is not absolutely spot on pitch with every single note. But who the hell cares?

There is inborn talent involved in this level of greatness -- only Freddie Mercury could have been Freddie Mercury. (He was shy in private life, btw, as well as being a huge cat person.) But there is also practice and practice and so much practice and then some more practice. Experience doesn't stop you from making mistakes. It teaches you how to recover from them.

Perfection is incompatible with great art and with life itself. Don't try for it; it will suffocate you.

1) personally I think Clay Colloway should have been played by Brian

2) My rant about this was going to be hinged on the fact that of all the people in rock history to have a SILVER lions mane of hair and is fittingly a Leo came crumbling down when I remembered that Brian May is in fact a Cancer, not a Leo. Damn it, Brian, you couldn't have waited a week to be born????

3) my first point still stands though. Of all the people to look like the character, Brian is closer than Bono.

4) Addendum.

Roger. Roger is a Leo. Guitar player. Silver hair. Bushy beard.

And!!!!! Red suit.
