McDonald's Happy Meal Despicable Me 3

Introduction:

A Happy Meal is a kid's meal sold at the American fast food restaurant chain McDonald's since June 1979. A small toy or book is included with the food, both of which are usually contained in a red cardboard box with a yellow smiley face and the McDonald's logo. The packaging and toy are frequently part of a marketing tie-in to an existing television series, film or toyline. In this review, it's from Despicable Me 3 (DM3) movie aired in 2017. The line up had 22 toys in total counting from every region releases, unlike it's predecessors the line up expanded by featuring several human characters and a robot with different functions. It features Gru, Lucy, Agnes, Balthazar Bratt, Clive (there's Dru, Margo and Edith as well but, there's no physical toys of them), 12 minions figures, 2 kinds of board games, dominoes and a playing card game. Their gimmicks are very different compared to the predecessors such as shooting toys, wheelie toys, movable parts by button or just simply tapping their head, passing toy, hockey game, board games and playing card. The whole toys doesn't have any electronic gimmicks anymore which I'm quite okay since replacing the battery are kinda pain in the butt.

Human

New to this line, there're 6 human characters in total which 5 toys riding/driving their own vehicles (animal for Agnes). However, I don't have 2 Balthazar Bratt's toys including his robot sidekick Clive since I don't like them. In this review, only 4 of them that I will show, most of them are wheelie toys but, each of them got their own unique feature:

Gru's Hydrocycle, has a shooting feature which you need to attach Gru's Hydrocycle with his sub-marine cover then pull the button to shoot him out of the sub-marine. Gru's head is movable very little due to his head is close to both of his hands. This gimmick was made to recreate when Gru emerges out with his hydrocycle from the sub-marine (Although, we only get to see Lucy performed this while Gru and his minions are shown offscreen). In Indonesia, he can be bought by mcdelivery only.

Lucy's Hydrocycle, is a pull back bike which you only need to roll its rear wheel backward then release it to go forward in fast motion. Lucy's head is also movable and can rotate 360 degrees. Until now, this is one of the few toys made for her. Lucy is only exclusive to Australia and Canada.

Agnes' Rockin' Unicorn, it's Agnes riding her fluffy Unicorn doll. It has one wheel underneath the unicorn, when you roll them, Agnes toy will wiggles due to the mechanism made for this toy. Agnes head is also movable slightly.

Despicable Duo, a wheelie car toys that has rolling drill part by rolling the front wheels. The cockpit can be opened to reveal the interior and there's an attached sticker featuring the twins; Gru and Dru. The actual name of this car is Villain Wheels and was originally belongs to Robert Gru (Gru and Dru's late father). While the car is cool looking but, I really wished they'd made a mini figure of Gru and Dru for driving the car instead of a sticker but, it's understandable for a happy meal toys.

The Minions

There're 12 kinds of minion toys in total:

Minion Tongue, has tongue out feature by the button on his jumpsuit pocket, and he also got movable arms. Most sources claimed it's Dave but, he can be anyone that has similar looks to Dave. The toy packaging doesn't mention the minion's name.

Banana Launcher Minion, it's a shooting toy that is similar to Gru's Hydrocycle and Crab Bite Minion but, this has longer range. While I like the gimmick of this toy but, the banana design is kinda lame despite it fits for them. I was hoping like a gadget just like they did on Despicable Me 2 series. He has combed hair similar to Dave or could be his lookalike.

Crab Bite Minion, has a jumping hat gimmick by pressing the button on his backpack. I think this was meant to be Jerry since he's the only one who wore this kind of hat in the 3rd movie but, the toy got combed hair decal like Dave.

Minion Hydrocycle Surprise, has open lid part on the rear part of his hydrocycle to show an art of presumably Jerry. Which you need to push the button on the front wheel. This toy features Minion toy in mini size due to his large vehicle. They would later released more mini minion toys in Minions: Rise of the Gru line up. Minion Hydrocycle is exclusive to Asian region.

Rocket Racer Minion, this minion has wheels underneath his butt and pull back feature but, you'll have to slide the toy forward to make him go backward and will spin several times showing like a rolling rocket. The minion in this toy got also got messy hairstyle which presumably meant to be a spiky hair so, he could be Carl. I think they don't want to waste more materials to make a separate buzz cut hair part like they did in the previous releases.

Pumping Iron Minion, the feature is simply moving the peg on his back right to left to swing both of his arms to show he's having arms exercise by lifting heavy metal dumbell (since the dumbell was painted silver). This minion is shown with angry expression and he got a tattoo on his left temple. Despite having jail uniform, the uniform still got sculpted "Gru" initials on his pocket. Meaning this was supposed to be a minion with his usual jumpsuit. He looks similar to Stuart since he has combed hair.

Minion Antics, similar to Pumping Iron but, the gimmick is to spin his right arm like he's spinning a chain by pressing the button on his back. This Minion also has messy hairstyle so, he could be either Tom or Phil.

Groovin' Minion, this plump minion is given a swinging 2 arms gimmick by pressing his head to show like he's dancing and his legs will also shrunk down to his body. But, you can still make various position arms for him like dancing or playing DJ. He's wearing green colored headset and has buzz cut hair similar to most of fat minions, he's the only fat minion included in this line up. He could be Jerry the fat one or anyone.

Hillarious Hockey Minion, it's an air hockey toy which has 2 minion toy sitting as paddles and a hockey puck inside the paddles. The 2 minion toys are similar to Dave and Stuart.

Banana Flipper Minion, this toy is kinda special I think... Since he is included with 3 accessories; that is a red hoop and 2 bananas. The purpose of that hoop is for Tim/Kevin holding the hoop for us to flip the 2 banana accessories into the hoop hole. This tall minion can be either Tim or Kevin or anyone that has their looks. He's only exclusive to America and Australia continent.

Pass The Minion, like the name you play pass the toy with your family or friends. In order to determine the winner and loser, there's a wind-up gimmick located on his back which you'll need to spin, then toss the toy to your opponent's hand then your opponent also do the same to you. If the toy starts vibrating on you or your opponent's hand, you or your opponent lose. The vibration came from the wind-up's mechanism but, the trick on how the toy was able to hold up the vibration is because it was locked by the minion's hair sticking up. Another tall minion that has Tim and Kevin's likeness, he's only exclusive to America and Australia continent.

Variety Games

There're 4 kinds of variety games included in this set and all of them were only released in either US and Australia but, I only have Despicable Deck and Despicable Checkers:

Despicable Deck, this isn't actually a toy since it's a playing card, it features many characters from DM3, that is; Agnes as a ace spade, Unicorn doll as a ace clover, Edith as a ace heart, Margo as a ace diamond, Dru as a jack, Lucy as a Queen, Gru as a King, and Balthazar Bratt as a joker. While the minions as respective numbers, kinda surprised on how they designed the numbering cards features different kinds of minion arts. All artworks featured in this set were drawn in 2D style instead of using 3D renders. The card only available in Australia and US.

Despicable Checkers, It's a checkers game which requires 2 players to play the game. However, I don't know the purpose of the minion toy included in this but, we can make him glowing and his hat's headlamp will like flashing a light by putting flashlight/smartphone (flashlight mode) on the bottom of his foot. The glowing part is similar to Stuart Light Up Grabber but, without electronic mechanism inside the toy, and I like how the minion toy came to be in solid color except his foot and his headlamp. I think that's the only feature of this toy has. He may have Dave lookalike but, could be anyone with different hairstyle since his hat is sticked onto his head. He's only available for Australia release.

Thoughts:

Comparing between 2013 to 2015 line up, I gotta admit DM3 was the time where Happy Meal featuring Despicable Me franchise at it's peak as the details of the toys are even better than the previous 2 movies. Although, I kinda miss the electronic gimmicks but, this is a big improvements on the moldings. Minion's jumpsuit has sharper details such as seamline details, protruding Gru logo details, detailed shoes including shoe soles and paint quality is much cleaner for the minions. However, I still prefer the separated buzz cut hair part they did on the previous instead of simple paint dots or simply messy hair. And the variety of the toys are also interesting such as human characters and several board games, I'm amazed that they actually nailed their likeness as well, except Gru's nose😂. It is unfortunate, they went downgrade in 2020 onwards so, I'm nolonger interested collecting them anymore but, I'm interested on the 3 Minion toys featured in Japanese Happy Meal Universal Studios line up. I will review them along with other toys that I'm interested in. So far, Hydrocycle toys and Groovin' Minion are my personal favorite.

aka my thoughts on Falsettos as I actually finally listen to/watch the whole thing for the first time. I love what I’ve heard of of the show but, like with a lot of shows, I haven’t had the time to actually just sit and absorb the whole thing.  Probably nobody is gonna read this, but like what the hell, it’ll be fun to do.  So here I go..

"Four Jews in a Room Bitching" – I don’t know what’s happening but I’m loving the beards and the shimmying.  Also dig the set, I’m a sucker for a simple set.  

"A Tight-Knit Family" – Hearing a lot of bitching but not a lot of funny there, Marv

"Love is Blind" – It’s nice to see the couples set up right at the top here.  Mendel and Trina, Whizzer and Marvin, Jason and a chess board.  Also where I begin to fall in love with Mendel, love the way he says “alibi” and “I admit I admire you”.  Also Andrew’s face during “Hepatitis”, and having Marv and Whizzer just like low key making out in the background.  Good job y’all.  And praise to Stephanie J Block for having to rattle off super fast lyrics, my brain cannot.  I’m starting to realize William Finn doesn’t fuck around here.  

"Thrill of First Love" – The second song I ever heard from the musical because...well my two fav broadway guys are flirting, I looked it up.  I am so very very gay, and Andrew Rannells is so pretty he sometimes makes me forget I’m not into men.  This song somehow manages to make me feel “yipes, maybe you guys shouldn’t be together” and “marvin/whizzer 4eva” at the same time?  Their chemistry is pretty fantastic and this is a hard relationship to portray.  You see Trina so vulnerable in the last song and already feel bad for her and kind of hate Marvin and don’t know what the hell to feel about Whizzer.  

"Marvin at the Psychiatrist (A Three-Part Mini-Opera)" – See this is why family members shouldn’t see the same therapist unless it’s family therapy.  Also if I ever had a therapist do weird hypno-hands at me there’s like 70% chance I would not go back.  Part 3 is probably my fav.

"Everyone Tells Jason to See a Psychiatrist" –  Because of the bad quality of the video I can’t tell if Jason’s shirt is Saturn with a bunch of starts behind it or all of that plus a weird space wizard in the corner.  Kids in musicals tend to annoy me, but I like Jason.  He’s a little shit, but in a believable way.  I wish we got more of him and Whizzer’s relationship to know why he’d want to talk to him, I mean maybe we do and I just haven’t heard it.  And Whizzer’s nervous little wave to Trina is everything.

"This Had Better Come to a Stop" – Yes!  Drag him!  I would conservatively watch like 3 hours of just Trina and Whizzer drinking wine and shitting on Marvin.  Songs like this make think of the fact that this was one of Christian Borle’s dream roles and he’s doing great, but I’m curious what drew him to it, I mean I only know him from funnier roles.

"I'm Breaking Down" – Somebody give Trina a hug please, and give Stephanie awards.

"Jason's Therapy" – This role is pretty demanding for a kid since you have to be on stage constantly and I think he does a good job.  CONFIRM: There is a space wizard on that shirt.  I also wish therapy was as easy as somebody snapping you into a trance, doing air sax, and telling you to feel alright.   And Jason encourage Mendel is the cutest.

"A Marriage Proposal" – And I complete the process of falling in love with Mendel, and Brandon Uranowitz.  For real this song is adorable and will probably be stuck in my head for awhile.

"A Tight-Knit Family (Reprise)" - NOBODY ASKED YOU, MARVIN!

"Trina's Song" – Trina, darling, go chill with the act 2 lesbians.  Fuck these guys.

"Making a Home" – This is pretty and everyone in this song deserves good things

"The Games I Play" – I feel like Act 1 Whizzer is kind of hard to pinpoint as a character, what he’s feeling and what he wants, but this song was beautiful.  I feel like I only ever hear Andrew doing like those big belting songs but this quieter and lower one is just fantastic.  Have all the range, young man.

"Marvin Goes Crazy" or "Marvin Hits Trina" – Jason’s face through this song breaks my heart.  Mendel, kick that man out your house and change the locks.  But I also like that he just holds Trina and Jason, he’s focused on his fam.  And Trina’s reaction makes me feel like it had happened at least once before, and Whizzer’s face made me thing with him it had happened a LOT before.  

"I Never Wanted to Love You" – MARVIN, YOU LEFT!  You’re in demand?  Bitch, calm down

"Father to Son" – Jason things about boobies for the first time, and Marvin tries to say oopsie I love you after smacking his mom in the face.  Ok, but I do like this song.  And I do think this is Marvin trying to change and not be such trash.  You get some points for effort.

"The Baseball Game" – I had heard this song before and it made me cackle.  My poor parents watching me play soccer as a small.  And Mendel being the hardest cheerleader!  Also how often to Jason and Whizzer talk?  What do they talk about?  I want these answers.  And Marvin quit your flirting, you almost look cute.

"A Day in Falsettoland" – The first song I ever heard, cause Tony’s.  Love everything of this song.  No notes.  Y’all keep being great

"The Fight" / "Everyone Hates His Parents" – I love how over it Mendel gets.  His relationship with Jason is one of my fav things in this.  “I’m a psychiatrist!  Get lost!”

"What More Can I Say" – Who knew?  If you’re sweet and not controlling things are nicer in your relationships.

"Something Bad Is Happening/More Racquetball " – DAMN YOU ACT 2 CURSE!  WHY YOU ALWAYS GOTTA BE SAD!  And hey, Tracie Thoms in a musical that actually shows some of the fucked up that was the AIDS crisis?  First time for everything!  (Ok that’ll be my only knock on Rent)  And fuck you for reprising welcome to falsettoland, I wasn’t ready to get teary yet.  Whizzer’s little “I’m sorry”

"Holding to the Ground" – One of the things I like about this show is it doesn’t make anything easy and it lets its characters be real people.  Trina is in a fucked up position when it comes to Whizzer, but she still feels some concern and I like that there’s a whole song for how off everything still feels for her.

"Days Like This" – Songs this bittersweet shouldn’t be allowed to be this pleasant sounding. Everyone is just so kind in this song I don’t know what to do with it but I’m gonna keep staying in this sort of state of almost crying.

"Cancelling the Bar Mitzvah" – Ugh Trina and Mendel are trying so hard.  

"Unlikely Lovers" – And then Whizzer got better and they all moved in together to be fantastic gay housemates.  Yep.  That’s what happened.  Seriously how’d we get from Thrill of First Love to here?

"Another Miracle of Judaism" – God: the big psychiatrists in the sky

"Something Bad is Happening (Reprise)" - Look when I was mad at Marvin last act I didn’t actually want him to die..

"You Gotta Die Sometime" – Again not the kind of song I’ve heard Rannells do before and I love it.  I think that’s what messes with me about this musical, it stars two people I’ve mostly only seen do comedy and now they’re fucking with me and making me cry, it’s rude.

"Jason's Bar Mitzvah" – Oh fuck you Jason.  Not really, you’re a doll I just don’t like crying in my room alone at like 4 am.  Son of Trina, son of Marvin, son of Whizzer, son of Mendel.

"What Would I Do?" – I was ok until Whizzer started singing too.  Then I was less ok.

"Falsettoland (Reprise)" - Marvin finally falling apart was hard, and was he crying because he lost Whizzer or because he knows Jason is going to lose him soon too?  

I really enjoyed this, I’m glad I finally listened to/watched it all.  As somebody who used to really not enjoy musicals besides Phantom of the Opera in middle school, I always like finding more songs to love.  If for some reason you scanned through this and want me to force myself to do it again with another musical, toss a title at me.

Best Present Ever

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary/Prompt: Imagine being pregnant with Bucky's kid-first kid and being super excited for Christmas only to go into labor Christmas eve. Although you're excited to be having the baby, you're sad that Christmas will be in the hospital. So Bucky is there to comfort you, remind you that your child is the best gift of all, and he plays Christmas music the whole time you're there.

Warnings: Pregnancy, swearing (you should have expected that from me) a little bit of sadness but overall fluff.

Word Count: 1118

A/N: I got this idea from @sheriwallace123 who gave me permission to use it. I hope I did it justice. Also I posted two drabbles last night before going to sleep only to realize this morning that tumblr was a dick and didn’t post them so I’ll have them up shortly if it stops being a dick again. Also this story is kind of OOC so just roll with it.

You take in a deep breath, sighing contentedly as the wonderful scent of roasted chicken flooded your senses. Rubbing a hand over your belly you tiptoed behind Bucky, resting your chin on his shoulder to see what he was doing.

This year the two...well three of you would be hosting Christmas at your place, the team would sleep over and the next day you would all spend Christmas together. You had started a tradition with the team after you split up so that you would still be close. Every year each team member would host at least one holiday at their place, although you didn’t need an invitation to visit each other.  

You were extremely excited to be hosting Christmas this year, you wanted to go all out but unfortunately for you Bucky had benched you claiming that you were ‘too far along to be engaging in any stressful activities’ followed by a bunch of military terms that you didn’t understand.

What Bucky didn’t know was that you were an extremely annoying backseat driver when you didn’t have your way. So you ended up instructing him on how to do literally everything.

“That smells so good.” You moaned into his ear as he carved the chicken. Just as he was about to reply there was a knock on the door. Letting out a squeal of delight, you hurried outside to open the door revealing Natasha and Steve.

With a soft squeal of her name, you threw your arms around Natasha’s neck, pulling her into a bone crushing hug. You then moved to Steve giving him the same treatment before letting them inside.

Eventually, to your delight, every single one of them had found their way to your house, even Clint and his family followed by Thor who had shown up very late, his brother in tow. After diner you were in the kitchen with Natasha, chatting and snacking on a piece of cake.

”So, are you ready a mini Bucky running around soon?” She asked, placing her hand on your stomach, smiling as the baby kicked against her hand.

“I’m ready for the baby, it’s Bucky you should be worried about. I mean I love him but he drives me fucking crazy sometimes, he’s always been over protective but since he found out I was pregnant it’s like his protectiveness has been kicked into overdrive. Imagine what he’ll be like once the baby’s actually here.” You groaned, rubbing your hand over your stomach again and gripping the counter as you felt a pain, you’d been getting them all day and they had been getting progressively worse.

“You alright?” She asked narrowing her eyes at you.

“Yeah, I’ve just been getting the practice contractions all day.” You shrug, downing a glass of water.

“How far apart?” You jumped a little as Laura’s voice met your ears, having not heard her enter the room.

“Uh they started at about twenty minutes and now they’re maybe eight, nine minutes?”

“Y/N I think you’re in labour.” Natasha replied, a worried look taking over her features.

“I’m not due for another week, relax.” You waved them off, moving back to your cake when you felt warm trickle running down your leg and pooling at our feet, “Okay, maybe I am in labour.” You breathed, your hand moving to your stomach.

“Let’s go.” Natasha said grabbing your arm, placing one hand on your back and ushering you out of the kitchen and into the living room, “Out of the way people! Baby on the way!” She yelled, pushing Tony and Bruce apart and out of the doorway.

“What?!” Bucky’s panicked voice met your ears as you stopped to put on your shoes and coat.

“Hey.” You said in a slightly commanding yet gentle voice as you grabbed his face in your hands, “Just breathe okay, we’ll be fine, everything is fine, so calm the fuck down and take me to the hospital.”

When you got to the hospital you were immediately greeted by your doctor who led you to your room and spoke to you about what would happen. As it turned out you had been in labour all day as you were already six centimeters dilated.

You were currently sitting in Bucky’s lap, your bump to his chest and your face buried in his neck as he massaged your back.

You let out a soft groan as another contraction took over your muscles, “Fuck Bucky it hurts.” Your soft whimper made Bucky’s heart shatter, he hated seeing you in pain.

“I know doll, just a little bit longer, you can do this, you’re so much stronger than you know.” He encouraged, leaning down and pressing a kiss to your neck.

“I can’t believe we have to spend Christmas in the hospital.” You whined, pulling back and wrapping your arms around his neck.

“Hey.” He says sternly, looking you ivt the eyes with a serious expression, “Don’t you dare beat yourself up over this. This baby is the best gift you could have ever gotten me and I love you so much for it.”

“I don’t know Buck, that sweater I got you was really awesome.” You teased, making him laugh and give you a peck on the lips.

“I have an idea.” He smiled, shifting slightly to retrieve his phone from his pocket. Furrowing your brows, you looked at him, laughing as you heard ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ begin playing before your doctor came into the room.

Seven long hours of pushing and screaming later, your daughter Rebecca Alianovna Barnes, was welcomed into the world to the sound of ‘It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year’ and it truly was the most wonderful, magical time of the year for you.

Masterlist // Plan B (Next Chapter)

It was the morning of December 24th in upstate New York and the inside of the Avengers base had been decked out from top to bottom in ostentatious decorations. Sparkling trees decorated every level, accompanied by garlands, dazzling banners and streamers, and bafflingly intricate and expensive-looking wreaths.

The outside of the base was covered in a thick, fluffy layer of snow; a beautiful winter wonderland, indeed. By the time everyone had cleared out of the base for Christmas, it was only you, Steve, Wanda, Vision, and Bucky who remained.

Both you and Bucky were relatively recent additions to the team; he’d gotten back from Wakanda a year ago, Hydra-free, and you’d been recruited only shortly thereafter.

You didn’t like to toot your own horn too much, but your power -being able to create and control fire and heat- was pretty badass. However, just like fire itself, your powers were temperamental and hard to control. As such, you were assigned a mentor and weren’t put on active duty yet.

They chose Steve for you, which had taken you by surprise. Surely someone like Thor, Wanda, or Vision would have been a better choice? But it had been decided you’d benefit from Cap’s patient guidance and that his level-headed demeanor might even wear off on you a bit. To your superiors’ credit, it had been working so far. You were more likely to think before you acted now and your powers seemed to fight you less as of late. Still, no missions yet.

You were flipping idly through TV channels in the common room, steaming mug of tea clutched in your hand, when Wanda plopped down next to you. The smile on her face was one you knew well; it was full of the promise for fun.

“I know that look, Wanda. What’s going on?” you asked curiously, smirk dancing on your lips as you looked at your best friend.

“Wanda wishes to have a movie marathon with the two of us,” came Vision’s voice from behind the couch. You jerked your head back in surprise, craning to get a look at the red android. He was staring at you, blue eyes trained unwaveringly on your face.

“Vision, stop lurking and come sit down next to your girlfriend,” you ordered good-naturedly, pointing deliberately at the spot on the other side of Wanda from you. He acquiesced, face thoughtful as he considered your words.

Wanda’s cheeks were tinged pink at your statement and she reached for Vision’s hand once he’d sat down. Their fingers laced together and you smiled. They were so cute together; they’d only recently started dating officially. “Steve and Bucky are invited too, of course!” Wanda said hurriedly.

“I don’t think that’s happening,” said yet another intruder on your lovely Christmas Eve morning.

The three of you turned to look at Steve, who looked troubled.

“What do you mean, Cap’n?” you asked playfully, leaning your head onto the back of the sofa so you could stare at him more easily, brows raised in question.

“Bucky’s holed up in his room and won’t come out; Says he wants to spend Christmas alone,” Steve said as he walked over to the couch and sunk down next to you, anxiety radiating off of him in waves.

“No one wants to spend Christmas alone,” Wanda said disbelievingly.

“Data does suggest that most people prefer to spend this time of year with ones closest emotionally to them. This trend is especially prevalent-”

“Viz,” you said tersely, giving him a chastising look.

He stopped mid sentence, looking from you to Wanda, who was giving him a similar look.

“It is as Wanda says. No one wishes to spend Christmas alone,” he said, bowing his head slightly to her in acknowledgement and apology.

“I know that, but I can’t force him to come spend time with us,” Steve said, running a hand over his face in exasperation.

“Well, technically-” you began, finger held up in objection.

“No, (Y/N). Don’t go there,” Steve said, giving you a hard look.

“I wouldn’t actually force him! I’m just saying we technically could!” you said, motioning vaguely at the four of you, especially Wanda and Vision.

Steve groaned and buried his face in his hands.

“Okay, yeah, that’s the last resort. Got it,” you said, resting your chin on your hand while you thought of a better plan.

“No, that’s not-” he groaned. “Why are you like this?” Steve asked despairingly, looking at you as though you alone caused all of his problems. To be fair, you definitely caused at least half of them.

...

Maybe two-thirds.

“I’ve got it!” you said loudly and suddenly enough for both Steve and Wanda to jump in surprise. “Steve! What did you and Bucky do for Christmas in the 40′s?” you asked, turning your excited attention on him.

Steve had been looking at you apprehensively, but his face softened a bit at your question. “After my ma died I spent Christmas at his place. Christmas wasn’t as… grand as it is nowadays,” he said, grimacing slightly. You knew he resented the increasingly-corporate holiday that Christmas had become. “It was a quiet Christmas Eve dinner together with his family and then camping out in his room for the night. His parents were nice enough to get me a gift for Christmas every year and we’d open presents in the living room, then have a nice breakfast together,” Steve said, thoughts 80 years away.

You could imagine that; A young Bucky, who had just hit puberty and was beginning to fill out, and a still-scraggly asthmatic Steve sitting together at the dining room table, the Barnes family treating Steve like a second son. You could see the wide-eyed boys excitedly opening their presents and Bucky’s younger sister, Rebecca (who you’d seen in a few pictures), playing with her new doll.

“I have an idea!” you said excitedly, slightly manic grin lining your features.

A chorus of Oh no’s rang out in the room and you frowned at all of them.

“You have a choice. Either you help me, or you leave me unsupervised to do whatever I want,” you said, turning your sickly sweet smile on each of them.

Steve gulped, eyes widening in horror. Even Wanda looked a bit alarmed; she knew how much trouble you could get yourself into.

Vision seemed to be thinking. “If we leave her unsupervised for twenty-four hours in her current state of mind, the likelihood of the base being burned down before sunrise tomorrow is 91.64%,” he stated.

“Can’t we just lock her up?” Steve asked.

You looked at him, shocked, hand over your chest, betrayal clear on your face.

“At present, Mister Stark’s fireproofing cannot hold out against the highest temperature at which Miss (Y/L/N) can burn. She could escape if she so wished,” Vision said solemnly.

“Can you knock her out for a few hours?” Steve asked, turning to Wanda.

You gasped at Steve, legitimately offended now.

Wanda snorted. “I can, yes, but I won’t. Christmas is her favorite holiday and I won’t be the one to take that away from her. Besides, I wouldn’t use my powers on my best friend, anyway,” she said, shrugging.

You beamed at her, holding your fist out for a fist bump, which she gave enthusiastically, both of you making explosion noises and wiggling your fingers as you pulled your hands away.

Steve sighed, recognizing defeat.

“Alright, what’s this plan?” he asked, sounding less than thrilled at the thought of whatever you were about to say.

You grinned widely, standing up from the couch, and turned to face the three of them, placing your hands firmly on your hips.

“Well, to start-!”

Your plan ended up being a bunch of mini plans rolled into one. You figured that at least one of the things on your list would make him happy.

You knocked on Bucky’s door, practically bouncing up and down on the balls of your feet.

His grumpy voice could be heard through the door a half second later. “Go away, Steve. I already told you-”

“It’s me, Bucky!” you said, cutting across what was likely a well-rehearsed speech.

There was a pause where you could hear him shuffling behind the door before it opened a half second later.

It was only open a few inches but you could see Bucky studying you warily.

“Is Steve out there?” he asked, glancing as far down the hallway as he could in either direction.

“Nope! Just me,” you said, voice downright chipper.

At that, Bucky opened the door the rest of the way. His room was bathed in darkness, making you frown for a second before you plastered a smile back on your face.

“So I know it might not be your thing, but I wanted to make Christmas cookies. It’s a little last minute, I know, but the urge was just overwhelming all of a sudden. I’ve never made cookies before so I was hoping you might help me out, even if it’s just as an extra set of hands because I know I’ll probably end up messing them up or something and I really wanted to have a nice treat for-”

Bucky held up a hand, effectively cutting off your rambling.

You gulped, suddenly nervous. You wouldn’t admit it to anybody, but you had a huge crush on Bucky. You had a feeling Wanda knew, but she hadn’t said anything yet. Although you were prone to rambling, it always seemed worse when you were around Bucky.

He crossed his arms as he studied you and you put on the most doe-eyed, hopeful expression you could muster.

He stared at you for a full ten seconds before he spoke again. “Fine,” he said grumpily before unceremoniously slamming the door in your face.

You stared at the door, confused. It sounded like he’d agreed, but... why did he close his door in your face? Maybe his words had been a ruse to appease you? Confuse you into shutting up? If that was the case, it was working. When he didn’t immediately reappear, you started pacing in front of his door, trying to think of a new plan of attack. You could always-

“What are you doing?” he asked from his doorway, eyeing you with confusion.

You yelped, jumping at the sound of his voice. You hadn’t heard the door open or seen him standing there.

Stupid super-spy-assassin sneaking skills.

You looked him up and down and realized what he’d been doing: getting changed. He wore a cozy-looking maroon sweater and a pair of thick black sweat pants. You had to stop yourself from giggling at the thick pair of dark grey toe socks on his feet.

“Waiting for you,” you said, beaming up at him. “Ready to make some cookies?” you asked jovially, jerking your thumb over your shoulder in the direction of the kitchen.

He shrugged noncommittally and avoided your gaze.

“I’ll take that as a yes!” you said excitedly as you grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the kitchen where Steve, Vision, and Wanda were gathering ingredients from the expansive pantry.

The five of you were chatting idly at the dining room table, cleaning up the giant mess that had been the cookie-making party. The kitchen was big enough that you’d been able to put all of your creations in at once, meaning you’d have plenty of time to decorate them.

“What’s that smell?” Bucky asked, sniffing the air, a look of concern on his face.

You sniffed the air, too, and your face fell in horror. “Oh no,” you muttered, dropping the dough-caked bowl and spoons you’d been carrying as you ran to the kitchen. They clattered to the floor, utensils and bits of cookie dough flying every direction.

The ovens were belching out smoke and you hurriedly shut them off, muttering a string of expletives under your breath. The others peeked in cautiously (probably in the fear that you were setting everything on fire, judging from the apprehension on their faces).

You yanked the trays out of the oven without bothering to put on oven mitts (the heat didn’t effect you and they just got in the way, anyway) and placed them on the kitchen counter before slamming the oven doors shut again. You stared down at the trays in wide-eyed despair.

The cookies all of you had just made were blackened and barely recognizable from the fun Christmas-themed shapes they’d been when you’d put them in the ovens.

“What temperature did you set the ovens to?” Wanda asked cautiously, moving to stand next to you with her shirt over her nose.

“I thought I set it to 350, but-”

“The ovens were set to 530 on broil, Miss Maximoff,” FRIDAY helpfully supplied.

You groaned and buried your face in your hands. “I’m so sorry. I just pressed the buttons and didn’t bother double checking-”

“It’s alright, (Y/N). Accidents happen,” Steve said, smiling kindly at you.

“We have time! We can make another batch-”

“It will take a few hours to clean the ovens of the smokey smell. Using them before this process is over is not recommended,” FRIDAY informed you.

You groaned as you sank to the floor in defeat. Wanda picked through the cookies carefully, looking for any that might be worth saving, but seemed to deem them all ultimately unsalvageable and dumped them into the trash one tray after the other.

Hell, this hadn’t worked. Which meant it was time for Plan B.

No, smart mouth, or dirty jokes for the rest of November lets see if he can get on Santa’s nice list.

12:00pm

For some reason I have an alarm set, and it’s currently making me want to cry. I shut it off and slam my phone onto the bed. I’ll tell you what, drinking is only fun when you remember what you did the night before, the next day. I don’t remember a whole lot, I know that we all took a shot and Tony started talking about proposing to Pepper. Pepper wasn’t at the party last night, Nat says she had work to do but I think it’s because Pepper doesn’t like me.

I roll out of bed, and realize I’m naked. I’m suprised I even got to my bed, but I also got naked? Wow. I throw on my black oversized sweater, and walking out to the living room where Nat is sitting on the couch. “Morning sleeping beauty.” I look at the microwave clock, and back at her. “Yeah, yeah I know.” She smiles big “do you remember anything from last night?” I rub my eyes and sit down next to her. “Not anything past Tony’s proposal.” She sets her empty mug on the coffee table “Well it’s probably best that way than.” She sits back and looks to me again. “Probably, but did you get me into bed last night?” She shakes her head. “Nope, Barnes did I was way to tired.” I raise a brow at her “So you let Bucky deal with drunk me?” “Well I figure if you win the bet he’ll always have to deal with drunk you.”

I roll my eyes, and cross my arms. “He’s winning, 1 day after today. Then he’s homefree.”

“Well lets hope so.” She reply’s sticking her tongue out at me. Bucky walks in and sits on the chair. Nat asks the question we are both thinking “Aren’t you a bit late?” He looks from the tv to us. “Yes, well I had to run some errands.” We both nod and hum in understanding. “So Buck how terrible was I to deal with last night?” He chews the inside of his cheek before answering “You we’re fine, just kept trying to get me to bring you food.” Lie. That had to be a lie, if I don’t eat before or while I’m drinking I won’t wanna eat after. Why would I do that? I stand up and stretch. “Well I better go get dressed, Tony might need me to come in today.” Nat stands up and takes her mug to the sink. “Okay, we might see you around the tower later.” I smile and head to room holler if back. “Sounds good!”

Tony is currently messing with Friday’s programing, I guess I’m only here to make sure he has coffee. “Dear, why don’t you run to the training room and see how everyone’s doing?” I stand up almost immediately. “Alright, I’ll be back soon boss.”

I head down to the training room with a cooler full of waters. As soon as the elevator doors open, I can hear the gym equipment and the music comming from the training room. As soon as I walk in I see Rhodes, Wilson, Romanoff, Barton, and Barnes. There are a couple more farther back in the gym, but I can’t tell who it is yet. Nat and Clint are sparring, and Rhodes is doing pull ups while Barnes is bench pressing. Wilson is doing standard stuff like sit ups, and such. I set the cooler by the bench, and sit it out. Just watching everyone do their own thing is cool, that is until Bucky spots me. “Hey doll, when did you get here?” I shift in my seat, the nickname now has a worse affect on me. “Just a few seconds ago.” He nods and uses his shirt to wipe off the sweat on his forehead. “Why don’t you come workout with us.” I laugh so loud it’s crazy “That’s a good one Barnes. I’d rather sit here.” He smiles “Oh come on, it could be something as simple as what Wilson is doing.” Wilson gives Buck a glare, and gets back to work. “No really Barnes. I’m good.” He tilts his head a bit and lays back again “suit yourself doll.” He goes back to work as well.

I run to the locker room, past that is the showers/bathrooms. I didn’t have to go or anything, I just couldn’t sit and watch Bucky much longer. I sit on the bathroom counter, and think of ways to avoid him. Just as I go to leave, in walks Bucky. “Hey Doll.” I smile and throw a small wave “Hey Buck.” He runs his fingers through his hair and sighs. “Do you remember anything from last night?” I shake me head “No not really, just Tony’s rambling.” I laugh. He nods with a small smile, and it’s quiet for a little while before he speaks up again. “I can’t win this bet.” Knit my brows in confusion “What do you mean?” He slowly walks closer to me as he answers “Well I don’t want to win this bet. I mean I did when you offered it up, because I wanted you to take some training. Now? Well I just don’t want you to think, that I’m trying to win to get a lap dance.” I look at the ground going over his words. “Okay, so you wanna Shut it down?” He sets his hands either side of my thighs on the counter. “Oh god no, because everyone knows about the bet now.” I scoff and shake my head at his arrogance. “You’re such an asshole.” He opens his mouth to speak but closes it immediately, no words now huh sparky? “Doll, I’m not trying to be rude. Just a bet, is a bet.” I roll my eyes and go to push him back so I can leave, but his grip on the counter tightens. He gets closer closing me in. “Sugar, as bad as I’d love to see you dance for me. God would I love that, I’d rather you win so I know you’re gonna be okay every night.” I fight a smile and reply with “So what are you gonna do to lose with witnesses?” He smiles with mischief in his eyes. “Before I tell you the plan, can I take you on a proper date this weekend?” I am a bit shocked by his question, almost forgetting to answer. “Yes, yes!” I hugs him, and wrap my legs around him. He chuckles, and hugs back tighter.

3:14pm

Just about everyone is in the living room, and I walk in with Bucky behind me. I bend over and set a few waters on the coffee table. “God damn sugar, you keep doing that with a skirt on I may have to take you for myself.” I feel my face heat up almost instantly, the words running straight to my core. Everyone kind of quiets down realizing what Bucky said. “Buck, dude you’re not alone here.” Steve says slapping his arm, sam is holding in laughter behind them. Nat looks so shocked, and angry. I stand back up, and bite me lip before speaking up. “Hey Bucky, I think you’re my new body guard.” He pretends to look shocked, and fights a smile. “Well I held out long enough, you’ve been wearing those skirts way too often. I’m suprised I didn’t break sooner.” Everyone just kind of goes back to what they were talking about, only after a few moments of silence.

It was a stupid bet considering, I don’t need to go clubbing anymore. Maybe just out for drinks, but not clubbing.

3 Days later

It’s our first date, and he’s not even here. Typical, I can’t believe I agreed to this. It’s been 45 minutes, and the waiter has been very patient with me. I feel so bad for the kid, I already wanna leave him a $30 tip just for getting me water and checking on me. I think maybe I should just go home, and wait for him there. Just as I go to leave money on the table, Bucky runs in towards the table. “I’m so, so fucking sorry sugar.” He says taking a seat and giving me puppy eyes. I roll my eyes and put my purse back. “Don’t ‘sugar’ me Barnes. It’s 7:56, you owe me a good explaination.” He knows I’m half kidding, I’m angry that he was late but I’m sure it was work related. “Oh doll, you know if I wasn’t stuck at work I’d be here in a flash.” I smile and sip my water. “I know buck, just was starting to feel uncomfortable waiting here.” He gives me a half smile, and holds my hand over the table. “I’m sure it was, the waiter has been taking care of you well though right?” I nod, and run my thump over his hand. “He’s been good, deserves a big tip. Because not only did I have to wait for you, but He did too.” Bucky smiles and nods in agreement.

8:41pm

Bucky paid the bill, and left quite a generous tip. We ate like royalty, and it was amazing. We talked the whole time, about family, friends, exes, and even our teenage years. Which were 100% different from each other considering he’s a man out of time but, I did enjoy learning what his life was like in the 40s. If he wanted to, he could talk about it all day and I wouldn’t mind one bit. We were walking out, holding Bucky’s metal hand as he used is flesh one to catch a cab. I was only a bit tipsy from the wine, so balnce and my words weren’t all there. Bucky held my hand in a way to keep me standing, when we got in the cab I layed my head on his shoulder. The car ride was gonna be a while.

Traffic was terrible, but Buck kept me occupied if you know what I mean. We were outside his apartment about to say our goodnights, but I wasn’t ready to leave. I think Bucky read my mind “Would you wanna-po-possibly stay the night?” I smile big, and nod. “Sounds good to me.”

Corona Capital Guadalajara 2019

Tiene muchísimo tiempo que no escribo una reseña sobre los conciertos a los que he ido, y no es por falta de conciertos ya que en lo que va de este año he visto a Le Butcherettes (gran banda), Kali Uchis, el Festival Catrina en Puebla y el Festival local La Escena Apesta.

La razón de no reseñar ninguno de estos es simplemente falta de tiempo, no les había contado sobre las vueltas de la vida pero ¿alguien recuerda cómo empezó este blog? Yo estaba indignada por un artículo en Noisey sobre las bandas de Cuernavaca y cómo el autor aseguraba  que no había ninguna buena más que Los Blenders. Empecé un blog donde listaba mis bandas favoritas de mi ciudad y la primerita que mencionaba era OLD VVAVE. Resulta que ahora soy su bajista y que sigue siendo una gran banda que ya tuvo la oportunidad de compartir escenario con Los Blenders en Xalapa y todo salió bien, tan bien que el próximo sábado nos toca estar en el Festival Marvin con grandísimas bandas y había que lustrarse los zapatos para estar listos, por eso mi larga ausencia. Punto y aparte.

El Corona Capital de la CDMX ya es un festival con 10 años de experiencia pero en la ciudad de Guadalajara se celebró recientemente la segunda edición con esta chulada de cartel:

El mejor cartel en lo que va del año y  para los amantes del Corona; el mejor cartel en mucho tiempo.

El reto: ir a Guadalajara desde Cuernavaca. Compramos nuestros boletos en etapa dos porque de la uno ni me enteré; $1750 pesos ya con servicios, la belleza de los Festivales es que una podría pagar eso por una sola banda en primera fila, pero por ese mismo precio. También pagamos transporte al aeropuerto, $300 cada Pullman, más Ubers, más $1500 por cada vuelo redondo. 

Fui con @MardeLio, ilustradora genio, actual novia, futura esposa y nueva fan de los festivales; también iba Paco; roomie flojo, buen amigo y llanero solitario. Nos hospedaron Rick y Andy, esposos, excelentes personas, festivaleros máximos y habitantes de Zapopan que nos recibieron en su bonita casa con los brazos abiertos y un perrito con una lujosa cresta mejor conocido como Pachuco. 

El Festival se realizó en la Explanada del estadio Akron (antes Omnilife), un terrenotote llano y polvoso que colinda con una pequeña zona boscosa en el municipio de Zapopan, había estacionamento por $65, una mamada considerando que no te estacionan el auto, no te lo cuidan, no te lo lavan, no hay sombra, no nada.

Nos separamos a la entrada, después de que nos regalaran un paliacate de diferentes colores a cada uno, estos lucieron mucho en los asistentes durante todo el día y noche. 

Yo ya tenía mis planeaciones de horarios en mente y me clave en el KIA STAGE.

Llegamos tarde para Of Montreal pero nos acomodamos en la sombra en The Joy Formidable, (cabe destacar que te vendían áreas con sombra en $500, sí, te vendían la sombra en el festival con un área de baños limpios y sillas, cosas que de entrada cualquier festival te tiene que garantizar sin importar el costo de tu boleto) 

The Joy Formidable

Nunca los había escuchado pero me gustaron, son de Gales y es un power trío (batería, bajo y guitarra) tocan con un chingo de energía pero tienen muy bien cuidadas las voces, las melodías de estas interactúan suavemente mientras la batería hace fills bien estruendosos y el bajo unos graves de esos que hacen que te tiemblen los pezones. El 15 de Mayo se presentan  en el Foro IndieRocks! por si los quieren ver, ésta fue su primera vez en nuestro país.

Kimbra

Habían tantas lesbianas entre el público que esperaba a Kimbra que Mar me preguntó si era banda para lesbianas (lol) 

“Es porque es muy guapa�� le contesté. Kimbra es de Nueva Zelanda y también era su primera vez en tierras tapatías-mexicanas y a pesar de esto nos saludó en español “Hola Corona Capital Guadalajara, me llamo Kimbra y estoy muy feliz de estar aquí, con mis amigos (señalando a sus dos músicos)”

La conoces, te garantizo que la conoces; hizo ese rolón de Settle Down y la colaboración de “Somebody that I used to know”, sí, ella es la voz femenina de ese hit. Súper guapa, elegante con su vestido negro y acompañada de dos hombres con trajes negros; durante media hora nos presentó canciones viejas y nuevas, desde su primer disco hasta su último sencillo. Puros sintetizadores, su voz impresionante y para mi gusto un buen show pero de pronto las rolas son demasiado rosas y destacan las que son más oscuras y más bailables.

Rhye

Mike Milosh y su maravillosa voz de bebé suave se presentaron en ese mismo escenario Kia: un órgano, un violín, un cello, una guitarra eléctrica, un bajo eléctrico, una batería y un mini set de batería aparte que tocaba el mismo Mike por momentos y que constaba de hi-hats, tarola y tom de piso lo acompañaban. Escuchamos el R&B que tanto esperábamos por parte de los Estadounidenses, Rhye. Algo que me choca últimamente es que corten a la mitad el sencillo que más nos gusta al público... lo hizo Kimbra con Settle Down, lo hizo Rhye con The Fall y lo hizo Phoenix con Too Young... lo empiezan y cuando pasa el primer coro lo mezclan con otra rola o lo cortan de tajo, me molesta de sobremanera.  

La violinista nos regaló un solo de violín con efecto de wah que nos voló la cabeza a todos y que considero fue uno de los mejores momentos de la presentación, música suave para bailar y escuchar agarradito de la mano de tu amante. 

Aprovechamos el set de Goo Goo Dolls para ir a comer (la neta) y descubrimos que los precios afortunadamente no eran tan exagerados, pudimos llenar nuestras panzas con dumplings y edamames por $150 en Miau Zedong y nos sentamos un momento en la poca sombra que las carpas nos podían proporcionar de forma gratuita. Necesitábamos agua para bajar la comida, así que hicimos una larga, larga y lenta fila en uno de los puntos de agua gratuita. Los filtros eran lentos, sólo eran 3 y para acabarla de amolar, la gente que llegaba a ellos llenaba su vaso, se lo bebía, se lo llenaba otra vez y se lo bebía para llenarlo una última vez y llevarlo con ellos, los gritos de enojo no se hicieron esperar, pues ya a lo lejos sonaba “Iris” de los GGD anunciando el fin de su presentación y el próximo inicio de los YYY “And I don’t want the world to see me, ‘cause I don’t think that they’ll understand (¡APURENSE CULEROS!) where everything’s made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am (MUÉVANSE, NO MAMEN)”

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Sublime. Karen O es lo máximo y su performance es lo más punk que verás en el festival. Las canciones ya conocidas por todos, son perfectas y el show en su totalidad tuvo un ritmo genial, cerrando con Date With The Night y enloqueciendonos a; Karen metió el micrófono de lleno en su boca para hacer un ruido gutural, para luego meter el mismo por el cierre de su pantalón y finalmente destruirlo tras repetidos golpes contra el suelo, haciendo sonar los golpes mientras el resto de los YYY destrozaban por su parte parches y cuerdas. Ni hablar del momento en que tocaron Maps y los coros, retumbando ecos por parte del público causaron que todo se detuviera un momento para que sonara más fuerte el “wait, they don’t love you like I love you”. Rolota.”It’s Blitz” cumple 10 años de ser uno de los mejores discos que estos oídos hayan escuchado y los YYY una de las bandas que mas les puedo recomendar para ver en vivo porque saben lo que hacen y lo hace mejor que los demás.

Y así llegó el momento mágico de los festivales en el que se empalman las bandas y tienes que correr a través de mares de gente y polvo para llegar a la siguiente banda que ya lleva dos canciones, aguantar las ganas de ir al baño y buscar el mejor spot para ver a Phoenix.

Phoenix

Los ví hace poco, en el otro Corona y sabía que el show visual era una garantía, por lo tanto agarré la mano de Mar y la llevé al centro del escenario, cerca de la cabina de los ingenieros que es donde mejor se escucha y disfrutamos bailando otro de los mejores shows de rock electro que existen en nuestros tiempos. El francés, Thomas Mars aunque es un gran cantante y un frontman serio pero entregado, nos saludó en inglés y re-bautizó la ciudad “Gracias Guadalajaja, I’m sure I mess that up but at least I don’t sound american”

Luego de una hora de show y de no haber explorado ninguna otra parte del festival hicimos otra pausa para ir a los baños más alejados del público. Ya sonaba a lo lejos Chemical Brothers pero de verdad no habíamos visto nada más que el escenario Kia y la fila del agua. Fuimos al Levi´s Tent a escuchar de lejos a Dillon Francis que empezó bien pero luego parecía la boda de tu tío porque recurrió al reggaeton y a Selena para salvar la fiesta. Comimos palomitas y compramos chelas de a $100. Pedimos la devolución de nuestro efectivo de lo que nos sobró en las pulseras -porque ahora todo es cashless- y regresamos a ver la última parte de Chemical Brothers.

Chemical Brothers

La música electrónica es bien chida para la fiesta pero no hay mucho que ver en el escenario, pues son dos hombres parados frente a sus aparatos, sin moverse de ahí, sin micrófonos para saludarte. Forzosamente necesitan visuales para hacer el show y los CB los tienen. Galvanize, Wide Open, y Block Rockin’ Beats son esas canciones que de pronto te das cuenta que las has escuchado ya 10 años y te hacen inmediatamente feliz, además de venir acompañadas de 3 pantallas con un diseño de visuales de maestros y de no sonar nada parecido a los discos, pues es mezcla en vivo. Los CB reventaron el escenario KIA y dieron cierre al mismo, despidiéndose con toda la gloria que merecía.

Tanto polvo recordaba al festival Sonofilia, ese que sólo tuvo una edición pero a donde vino Björk a México por primera vez y eso fue suficiente para abarrotar la Barranca de Huentitan. El cansancio se hizo presente y junto con esto los borrachos y borrachas mala copas típicos que se compraron 8 cervezas y se caen encima de una, la pisan, la empujan y no pueden ni hablar para disculparse, era la hora justo para ver a Tame Impala.

Tame Impala

Siempre he pensado que es una banda para gente en ácidos o en hongos y sí lo es amigos. Empezaron 40 minutos más tarde de lo planeado, que porque problemas técnicos. Es la banda con integrantes más jóvenes y la más nueva de entre los headliners pues la música, letra y voz de Kevin Parker, vieron la luz en el 2007 pero no han parado desde entonces. Kevin hizo una pausa entre las canciones nos preguntó si habíamos visto a los Chemical y a Phoenix; recalcó que eran dos de sus bandas favoritas y a quienes considera sus influencias, dedicó la canción de Let It Happen a los miembros de Phoenix o ¿The Less I Know The Better? ya no recuerdo bien... Rayos láser, cámaras que grababan en vivo y filtraban en las imágenes los efectos que a cualquier amante de los psicotrópicos le hubieran encantado y un sonido monstruoso, eso fue Tame Impala durante la primera hora y media de su presentación. Muy bueno, la verdad que muy bailable y bien fino pero el cancio pudo más. A regañadientes me llevé a Mar y le dije que podríamos escuchar las últimas canciones de salida. Rick y Andy me habían leído la mente, pues también son expertos en festivales y ya nos esperaban en el auto, para salir antes de que se desatara el infierno de la fila de autos, además que ellos no tuvieron chance de comer y les urgían unos tacos. Yo sólo me quería sentar. 

Paco ya estaba ahí, se quemó toda la cara escuchando a White Lies y parece nuevo en esto, pues no se puso nada de bloqueador solar y su nariz estaba tostada.

Los tacos estaban cerrados pero encontramos Hot Dogs, yo comí papas y compartimos nuestras experiencias. Rick y Andy pensaban que hubiera sido mejor cierre poner a los Chemical Brothers, yo estaba de acuerdo porque aunque Tame Impala no me molestó, si me bajoneó al punto de querer irme. Además el transporte público fuera del estadio era inexistente, nosotros de por sí dependíamos del servicio de Uber dentro de la ciudad y los que no tenían la ventaja de un auto debían esperar a que todos los demás también tuvieran su servicio de transporte, esa cuestión hizo extrañar la sede del Autódromo de los Hermanos Rodriguez, pues hay metro y autobuses cerca y baratos.

Nos bañamos para limpiar el polvo y dormimos 3 horas, teníamos que subirnos a un avión temprano y regresar a casa. Llegamos a Cuernavaca y dormimos muchísimo. Valió la pena el cansancio, pues como dije, las bandas de este cartel eran todas increíbles, si van el próximo año les recomiendo ampliamente ir un día antes a visitar el centro de Guadalajara, una de mis ciudades favoritas y no olviden llevar bloqueador solar, sombrero, gorra o sombrilla para el tremendo calor que se vive en el mes de Mayo. 6 Month Update!

I know I’m a few weeks behind, but whats new?!?

This Spring/Summer has been quite the rollercoaster, I’m not exactly sure where to begin...since ya know, I haven’t been updating anything!! For starter, we will begin back in April; my birthday Month. Below is a photo of Holly and I. We went to the Melting Pot in Minneapolis for my Birthday Dinner. It was amazing - the fondue *see photos below*. 

Please note, this is not my favorite photo of myself, but I am trying to be more positive about unflattering photos. It’s more about the moment anyways. 

23 was a wonderful year. I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful celebration. In addition to the Melting Pot, Holly surprised me with balloons and chocolate - WAITING AT THE TABLE when we arrived. Holly also bought me my  favorite perfume and a donut! And during the week, my roommate Sharissa surprised me with balloons and a vegan donut from Glam Dolls. I have two wonderful friends. Furthermore, I spent a wonderful week with Eddie. He spoiled me rotten. We went trap shooting (my FIRST time ever), saw a movie - had sex in a movie theater. SHHHHHH!!! Went to MOA, played mini golf, went out to dinner, had great birthday sex, and went trap shooting again. It was such a relaxing week, spent with the most wonderful of souls. For my birthday, Eddie bought me a 90 minute massage, a candle, chocolate, and the most precious card I have ever received. He said that he loved me in the card. Lastly, Erikka and Alexis took me to see Magic Men for the birthday. What a funny show! Definately good entertainment. 

Flash forward to May! Sharissa and I went to see Wicked at the Orpheum at Minneapolis.

 Preface: The Wizard of Oz is a classic in my family household, greatly due to my GG-Pa. He loved the Wizard of Oz and he definately would’ve loved Wicked AND that it was on Broadway. He was a New Yorker, ya know!  My GG-Pa, loved the story, simply because he believed that everyone has kindness in their hearts, no matter how evil. I am so grateful for the short period of time I had him in my life, he taught me so many valuable lessons that I will carry with me throughout my entire life. I feel like, although my GG-Pa is no longer with me, he was present during that show. 

What a beautiful story. I loved every minute of it and would definitely see it again. It was so much fun to dress up and treat myself to something, extraordinary!! I cannot wait to see Aladdin at the Orpheum in October with Sharissa, Alexis and Erikka. <3

Shortly, a few weeks later, Sharissa and I played hooky from work for 1hr on a Friday afternoon and went to Glam Doll Donuts in Minneapolis to get their one of a kind Mac & Cheese donut. I would highly recommend! 

Here is a cool picture of Holly and I. We went to the Largest Candy Store in MN. It was fucking huge. It was very overwhelming and I probably would not go back. Unless it’s for pie. Their pie smelled amazing. There were just too many people and annoying children and so much fucking candy. I’m not a vintage, classic, flavor extravagant, exotic and rare exported candy type of gal. But if you are, you should check it out. The sign was cool!

Let’s talk about Olive. One of my goals for this year was to achieve potty training. Well, that’s achieved!! Olive is such a wonderful support. It’s such a wonderful feeling to come home to a pet that loves you unconditionally. 

Other than the potty training, not much has changed wit her. She is still a complete badass - see image above. She loves playing at the dog park, playin’ with toys, eaten’ food, treats, and poop, and cuddlin’ with her Mama. Olive can shake, sit, catch, drop, roll over, lay down, speak, and stay. She is quite the catch!

In late May, I went back to Colorado to visit my sister and nephew for the first time since his birth in December! 

We didn’t do too much on this trip for tourism, other than visit Garden of the Gods. See images below. It was such a wonderful trip to spend time with family and bond with my sister and nephew. It was a trip full of laughs, food, and marijuana. I am so blessed that my sister came into my life. My nephew is such a (cliche) bundle of JOY!

WOW! I am just realizing how far behind I am on documenting my goals and adventures. This is a lot. 

In early June, Eddie and I went to a Twins Game at Target Field. I had an absolute blast. The game went into the 15th inning. We definitely got our moneys worth, that’s for sure! It was so fun to laugh, cuddle, eat nachos out of a baseball hat, attempt to caught foul balls (There was at least, AT LEAST, 20 foul balls during that particular game), and yell at the refs and teams. It was fun to go to the game with someone that actually appreciated baseball and could get into the game with me. I cannot wait to go again! We are trying to plan another time to go. Maybe in September... I cannot believe that we will have been dating for a year come September 8th!

A few weekends later, Eddie and I went to my cabin in Stockholm, Wisconsin TWICE in June.  It’s along Lake Pepin. If you haven’t ventured down to that area to complete the River Scenic Drive along the St. Croix, I would HIGHLY recommend you complete it ASAP. It is absolutely breathtaking in the summer and fall, plus it is only a 45 mins drive from the Twin Cities. As an added bonus, you can stop by the Stockholm Pie Shop. Its one of the 100 best restaurants in the United States. You heard that right, one of the one hundred best restaurants! Here are a few pictures I took from our weekend together.  See below. It was so amazing to have a *normal* date with Eddie. We cooked together, watched movies, went around Lake Pepin exploring the nearby cities, went for walks, ate pie, etc. I would classify it as he most normalized date we have ever had, just considering that he has a child and we usually are doing things around the cities; like baseball games. It was a nice reflection as to what could come if we ever choose to live together or go on trips in the future. I cannot wait to spend more time together in Stockholm!  

Here is a photo on me, stepping out of my comfort zone! See the swimsuit image below. I was super shy and mortified to wear this swimsuit in public for fear of looking fat or not fitting into my “mold of fashion”, but I wore it and I ROCKED it. This is a swimsuit piece that I never would’ve bought, but besides for the fact that I convinced myself that I need to step out of my comfort zone this year and try new things, which includes edgy clothing. I must admit, I still feel shy rockin’ that swimsuit in public, and this photo is somewhat posed, but in my opinion; this photo represents a girl who is taking a risk and loving what she is and what she has. I was to see her more often. 

Furthermore...haha. I got a new tattoo on my hip.  See the image below. I’m not in love with it, but I am getting there. I don’t feel like going into the long details of what happened, because then I get all worked up *arms flailing*, but long story short; the guy didn’t do exactly what I wanted him to do in terms of shading the pieces, but I have decided that I am going to let the piece heal and then determine my next steps of action. 

My current thoughts: I would like to have the bottom two leaves removed and potentially attempt to correct some shading to make it more gradual and then add more - different - flowers in the future to make it a huge piece. I am trying to let this *mistake* build character. Is it working? I’m not sure, ask me again in six months. I think this piece has potential, in many different aspects of life: healing, removal, character, adding, beauty. 

Lastly, I have been researching Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. I was dx at the age of 15yrs old and placed on birth control because I wasn’t getting a regular period for over a year and when I did get my period it would be incredibly painful. Unfortunately, PCOS is a very rare disease and many women live with it.  And even more unfortunately, it is the number one leading cuase of infertility in women. At the age of 15 I didn’t care. I thought birth control was a magic pill. I thought it solved all my issues; I was getting a normal period again. I was fine, right? No! 

I had never once thought that PCOS could be the leading cause of my weight gain, until about 3 months ago when I watched an instgramers youtube vlog, which detailed her life long struggle with PCOS and weight loss. It was very eye opening, enough so much so  that I began to research PCOS day and night. In women with PCOS you can develop cysts on your ovaries, have irregular periods, have increased testosterone (all the reasons I was placed on birth control to begin with - to manage those symptoms), acne, weight gain, hair loss, mood swings, depression, and increased risk for diabetes and cervical cancer. Luckily I do not carry too many symptoms, but from my personal research I discovered that cutting out dairy (which I did back in October - fully) and gluten can really assist in managing symptoms of the syndrome. So, since mid-June I have been dairy, whey, soy, and gluten free. Obviously, this is incredibly difficult, but I really try to eat clean and eliminate those ingredients as much as possible. 

Furthermore, I even went to see a doctor. Luckily all my labs and ultrasounds came back positive, except for the A1C - which looks at you blood sugars for the last 3 months and my fasting blood sugar. Unfortunately, this syndrome has a genetic link to diabetes. I do not know anyone in my family that has this syndrome, but there is a possibility. So, going forward, after I complete one more lab, my PCP has determined that he is going to put me on metformin to assist in managing my insulin resistance, because I am on the boarder of being pre-diabetic. I am not thrilled about being on a long-term medication, but if it’s going to keep my insulin levels regulated and assist in my weight loss and overall healthy journey; then I am interested. At this time I am not diabetic or even pre-diabetic, but the medication will assist in helping me lose weight by managing my insulin - as my body cannot do it due to PCOS. Furthermore, I must take a daily multivitamin, Calcium Cirtate - as I don’t eat dairy, and a probiotic - digestion issues. In the future I may also take Fish Oil to assist with my omega-3, which can also assist with my insulin and blood sugar levels, but I would like my body to acclimate to the other medications and vitamins prior to introducing more. I really have high hopes for this medication, food lifestyle change, and clinical monitoring. (If you have any further questions about PCOS, my labs, blood test results, how to diagnose, etc. Please ask. That was an incredibly shortened version and really was stretched out over 2 months as I am still completing lab work) :)

Now, I just need to reintroduce exercise. I have decided that I am going to complete the 21 Day Fix exercise videos for the next 21 days. After I complete that, then I will decide what I need to do next. But for now, its the 21 day fix videos. I plan on waking up at 6:15am to complete the videos. Here are my before photos:

Hips/Butt: 46inches

Bust: 43 inches

L Arm: 14inches

Fun fact: I started therapy! I love it an plan to continue going throughout the rest of the year. I do not plan on disclosing any personal information about my sessions on this page. 

Flashback to my goals - I have revised again:

-Continue to lose weight - goal 170lbs. I have lost 12.6lbs this year. I would like to weight 188lbs by the time Holly and I go to Italy. 

-Olive should be potty training by the end of the year - complete

-Stop biting and picking my nails - complete (Always on going)

-Save Money - ongoing. I would like to have $3000 in the personal saving by the end of the year. (All together, personal, HSA, paying for Italy, etc. I have saved, roughly $3000 this year)

- Eliminate Credit Card debt - I suck at this. It is back up. I am disappointed in myself. But I haven’t spent on it in over 1 month and have a plan to pay it off. I’m not worried. Although I am worried about that health bills I will accumulate from the doctors visits that I had these past two months. I am hoping the amount of money that I put in my HSA will cover the entire cost. 

-Read 12 books this year - HA! I will read as I fucking please. I don't like this goal. 

-Research grad schools - I don't feel ready for Grad School. I feel stuck. I want more time to determine what I would like to study. I want more field experience, I NEED more money. These are all things I can work on in the next year. My original original original goal was to apply for grad school in the fall of 2018, which is still achievable, soooooo lets start there. This subject stresses me out and it shouldn’t it; it should feel fun!

-New goal: drink more green tea with cinnamon - it’s good for my syndrome!

I can't remember any of my other goals.....I will need to look back and refresh this update once I have revisited my first post. Obviously they were not as important as the ones listed above...hahahaha!

In June of 2014, Moose started with Season 1, and the popularity of Shopkins has skyrocketed since then. Having already collected Seasons 1 through 6, we couldn't wait to add more to our growing toy collection.

Each of the Season 7 Shoppies is themed around a different type of party. Rosie Bloom is party of the Picnic Party and comes with her own brush, 2 exclusive Shopkins, a stand, and a VIP card that unlocks bonus characters in the Shopkins app. 

The colour palettes and details of the Shoppies are just gorgeous. Their outfits are fun and whimsical, and the dolls are a small enough for little hands (or serious collectors).

Rainbow Kate is my favourite of the bunch. From her multi-coloured hair to her rockin’ red shoes, she’s got style coming out of her ears. The stand is a nice touch too, as it works for play or for display.

Tiara Sparkles looks like the belle of the ball with her crown and regal dress. I love how each of the dolls has a really unique look and personality.

Likely no more Equestria Girls dolls?  Sad...  Some of the lines were really excellent (like Rockin' Hairstyle), but I'll admit that they mostly haven't been grabbing my attention as much lately.  I'm glad that Equestria Girls will still be continuing in Mini form at least though, and I am happy to hear that we're getting quite a few new characters, like Derpy, Roseluck, The Great and Powerful Trixie, Sweetie Drops, Daring Do, Starlight Glimmer, Princess Celestia, Photo Finish, and Adagio.  I'm hoping the stands that the Rainbow Rocks ones come with actually work because one of the things that makes me kinda meh about the Minis is that they can't stand on their own.  They can't really sit very well either, so displaying them is a bit awkward (mine are just kinda leaning against stuff).

Man though, it seems like so many lines I like are either gone or seem on the verge of going away: the new Bratz, Ever After High, now Equestria Girls... also maybe Star Darlings?

On the positive side, DC Superhero Girls seem to be doing well, Monster High is hanging in there, and I'm loving both the Fashionistas and Made to Move Barbies.
