most of the cast is introduced in this episode including the students, their teacher, and the military. there have been weird spheres in the sky for the past year, but it hasn’t bothered anyone yet so no one cared? yeah. anyway, the students are all third years in high school (12th grade in american terms) so they’re studying for their csat and stuff like that. their teacher gets called away and then comes back to tell them that early admissions for college are cancelled and that their grade would start military training after school hours everyday. they’re all shocked, but for various reasons (one of them being that this training would give them extra credits/points for college), their parents sign the consent form for it. everyone gets settled into their bunks at school and record videos for their parents, friends, etc. their ‘platoon’ leader lee choon-ho (actor: shin hyun-soo) explains their schedules to them, and allot every student their personal firearms (a colt model 603k which is a replica of korea’s colt m16a1). back at their bunks, some students start theorising that war is coming based on videos and the agreements they signed, etc. when kwon il-ha (actor: kim su-gyeom) gets his phone confiscated (because they aren’t allowed) due to yeong-hoon (actor: ro jong-hyun) snitching on him. they are punished by their platoon leader so they end up running an errand together. they get into an argument again, which chi-yeol (actor: kim ki-hae) saw and tried to stop. but suddenly, one of the spheres in the sky falls right in front of them, and while fighting, kwon il-ha pushes yeong-hoon onto the sphere. it suddenly opens, and tentacles reach out, swallowing yeong-hoon completely. their platoon leader rushes to keep the other two boys safe, and the tentacles disappear, becoming a normal sphere again. around halfway through this episode, in another area, the military was inspecting a similar sphere that had fallen. the soldiers’ company commander ordered them to use a panzer (a medium tank/firearm) to shoot at the sphere. there’s a huge cloud of dust and shit goes to hell (and then the scene changes, so we don’t know at that point what had happened). plus, the last scene of the episode is a ‘flashback’ of sorts (?) to yeong-hoon’s recording where he’s talking to chi-yeol about playing games together (online video games) after the csat. (apparently they were friends before?) so yeah.

omfg I kid you not, I was genuinely shocked that the nerdy guy died first 💀 I assumed he’d go out of commission in like the third or fourth episode but 💀💀 anyway, the last scene was kinda emotional bc I thought nerdy guy was prickly and stuff but it was adorable how mushy he seemed with his friend (the main guy… chi-yeol? yeah) 🥹. the spheres had me creeped out ngl- it looks disgusting as shit 😭☝️i’m so happy i’m watching this on youtube bc the quality sucks, so I don’t have to see the detailed version of that sphere-tentacle-monster-thingie 🤡 episode 2, here I come ig?

Short

Short is a 4 episode mini series about two members of an ice skating race team. Kang Ho Young is an amateur racer and is encouraged to join a university's team where he joins Maeng Man Bok (his best friend) and the star of the team, Park Eun Ho. It's the tipical sports story where two athletes crash and then become friends and teammates. Since it's a mini series, it has the feeling of a movie - the subplots are not fully developed so it leaves you wishing it had taken its time - and the main plot is resolved easily. It's a feel good story and I enjoyed watching it. I liked the friendships made and how the father-son relationship improves between Eun Ho and Mr. Park.

If you like sport stories, this one is a good one.

So this drama is a oldie, 2012 drama but it’s soooo good. It’s a drama about four friends in their forties that have the best bromance ever. They’ve stuck with each other throughout the years with each other even if they disagree with one another’s lifestyles cause well despite it all they love one another. It’s such a fun, hilarious, melodramatic ride. It does not disappoint at all. The series is really well written and I cannot highlight enough how amazing the chemistry is throughout the cast, from top to supporting, to even guests...... (😘Yong Hwa) and on a side note I’ve been going through some Kin Woo Bin withdrawals lately so this was the perfect fix.
