OH BOY DO I?!!

Strap ur selfves in, cause I got a lot of lore I wanna talk about :D

(I’ll be sticking to my main 6 tho cause I got way too many aus lmao)

General Lore:

Barrierfall:

Barrierfall is my angstiest AU as many of you know, what some people don’t know however, is that it’s also one of my only True Pacifist a Surface AUs (which kinda makes the fact that all but 3 die sadder but meh)

Magic in this AU is more of a solid thing, it’s why Monsters can create Magical Attacks and Magical food, and in the AU, instead of loosing the ability to use magic, Humans just loose the ability to cast magic themselves and instead have to use items to channel the magic they naturally produce (which is why the items left over by the other human souls have magical aspects)

In Barrierfall Monsters can freely use magic but can’t create it as easily, and Humans create it but can’t use it, this was originally a symbiosis the two species had before the war,

But being locked underground means the monsters were slowly using up all their magic resources, weakening their magic, this is why Frisk has the Reset ability, because they’re not fighting any other magic,

But with the monsters underground, the Humans have a whole lot of magic build up that they’re not using.

So, what happens if you break a window in a submarine?

All the pressure of the water floods in and the sub implodes,

Now, what happens if you break a barrier that’s been stopping any of the magic getting into a basically magic-less cavern?? What happens when a tiny lightbulb is compared to the sun? What happens when a drop of determination is compared to a world of magic??

In other words, here’s the answer to your question everyone who’s been asking why the underground falls and why the reset button is destroyed :D

Spoketale:

The residents of Spoketale know they’re in a game, they’re not supposed to, but when your player is a hacker a few glitches can occur.

386 neutral runs, with various hacking/glitches, Player is curious about how far they can push the characters before something changes, they have however, never done a Genocide or Pacifist route, these glitches can be minor things like; switching item pickups (this is an important lore point to Spoke himself), GodModing and taking no damage, to more impactful glitches,

Like, let’s say… deleting entire characters?? Spoke was right, his papyrus isn’t dead (:

But a side effect of all the glitches is different characters gaining awareness, the story of Spoketale actually takes place where Sans meets Player at the ruins to distract them and buy Alphys and Undyne time to evacuate the underground because they know about the resets and Player (it’s also where Spoke gets the crack in his skull)

Idletale:

If you’ve read the prologue of my fic for Idletale you’ll probably have pieced this together already, but Idletale is set in an AU where Gaster tried to create fake human souls (similar to Handplates) by taking a 16th of a human soul and injecting it into a Host’s soul, after various tests it’s found that a single trait being injected will just overwhelm the soul and kill the host, but with two human traits they cancel each other out allowing the 3 souls to synergies

The three survivors of these tests are Sans (Idle) Papyrus and Undyne,

Sans getting Patients and Justice

Papyrus getting Bravery and Integrity

Undyne getting Kindness and Perseverance

All of them are able to summon the items attributed to the soul traits (yes Idle can summon a gun whenever he wants and yes it’s a horrible idea- who let him do this-)

Another side effect of these tests being that each host can see their soul traits (they can’t see the others only their own)

Sans calls herself a Pb&J Sanswitch much to the chagrin of Patients and Joy of Justice

They’re also able to switch out with their hosts (not this is not DID, I’m not trying to make it an allegory for any disorder) which strengthens certain attacks depending on who’s at the helm

Furcatetale (Rivper):

Not too much lore to tell here, but Rivper himself was the first Sans to receive one of ‘The Keys’, the Integrity Key, given to him by his River Person (due to his Gaster being a massive dick (and the reason Rivper ended up with a half melted Integrity Soul) Riverperson basically adopted Rivper as their own)

The key and internship as a riverperson is why Rivper acts as a multiverse taxi, being able to take anyone to any AU they want (as long as either Rivper or the Passenger have been there before) for 5G,

Their Ferry is also a Gaster blaster (I’ll draw a sketch of it or smthn if y’all r interested)

Helicaltale:

Heck yeah I love this world so much,

Basically helicaltale takes place where after the war, instead of being sealed underground the Monsters were chased away from the safety of MtEbott and instead took refuse in the desert, setting up basically a tent city,

The Humans then placed a curse on them that they can never touch sunlight (I though of this after 47 hrs straight of Minecraft playing so think of how hostile mobs burn in sunlight and that’s basically what happens)

When Sans was 12 (Papyrus being 7) a sickness ran through the camp (it was called ‘The Sunlight Sickness’ cause I thought it sounded cool but now I can think of a better name :/) and during that time the cost of medicines rose 10fold (there’s more lore here but I’ll mention it later in the TW side of this post)

Climatetale:

First things first- basically the polar opposite of Barrierfall where everyone is alive!! Including the human souls

In the AU all the Souls including Frisk and Chara are alive and around the age of 23 (THIS IS FOR JOB/DRIVING REASONS- NOT FOR SHIPPING YOU DEGENERATES. do not use the characters ages as an excuse to ship, both Chara and Frisk are Asexual/Aromantic in this AU, don’t be nasty.)

And all of the Souls work for their Collage newspaper/as reporters, aiming to uncover the truth about the Monsters of Myth.

There was no war in this AU, and similar to Reapertale, a Climatetale monsters are based off ‘things’, Natural Phenomena and Natural Disasters, for Example Sans is based off a Lightning Sprite, Papyrus is based off lighting, Unydne is based off Tsunamis and Alphys is based off Asteroids (cause I think a Dino adjacent character being based off meteors hilarious)

Also, instead of an underground, Mt Ebott erupted Centuries ago (thx Asgore) and its basin cooled and became a massive sinkhole oasis that all of the Monsters live in peacefully,

Frisk and Chara being the first humans they meet in decades

And now onto some of the sadder stuff,

This is bits or lore that are much more confronting, not all my AUs have this,

None of this is too integral so you can stop reading here if the following Trigger Warnings are too upsetting

TW: Suicidal Ideation, Child Abuse/Neglet

Barrierfall:

Despite his vitriol to Ink, Barrier actually blames himself for the loss of his AU,

He was also forced to kill his Papyrus, so survivors guilt and just guilt in general eats at him,

He was the one given the warning by his future self that he didn’t listen to, he was the one that entrusted his AU’s safety to a stranger, he was the one that got himself permanently banned from the Omega-Timeline cutting himself off from the only two other survivors forever,

He says he blames Ink and he’s hunting the creator down for revenge, but honestly, he’s looking for an easy excuse to end up dead,

He knows he can’t beat Ink, he just hopes going into an unwinnable fight would be a step forward in making up for his sins

(Which is stupid cause it’s not his fault but the dumb dumb can’t get it through his thick skull)

Spoketale:

Spoke is cannonicaly dead, while his Papyrus isn’t, Spoke is,

He died when confronting the Player in the Ruins, taking a knife to the eye that killed him near instantly,

Only due to a glitch caused by Players hacking was he able to use a monster candy and restore his HP, leaving him at 10/1HP permanently, but he’s never mentioned it too anyone, not even his papyrus or any of his other friends, too scared that as soon as he acknowledges it, the game codes will realise the glitch and kill him for good,

Never telling anyone about his fears bring mass paranoia making him much more likely to attack when getting defensive

He’s also deathly afraid of reaper sans (pun intended)

Helicaltale:

Remember how I brought up the Sunshine Sickness?? Well it shouldn’t be too bad, their Gaster works in a top level lab in the city with humans to try and find a cure for the curse, making more money then he could ever want

The problem is, he’s always in the city, surely sans is old enough to look after himself and his brother, why would they need a parental figure to take care of them? Phone calls? No, only an email once a month, if lucky

Sure, maybe Gaster doesn’t even know how old his kids are, but it can’t be that bad right??

Papyrus gets sick.

With not enough money for both food and medicine, sans is forced to seek out help from the black market, eventually selling his right eyelight (using it allows the buyer the same teleportation ability sans has) in exchange for the medicine for papyrus,

He’s 12 when he looses his eye, his father never notices, he doesn’t tell anyone, papyrus gets better

This is what inspires Papyrus to join the Royal guard, wanting to protect sans the way he protected him, it’s also what inspires sans to become a magical items trader in the black market (with a strict rule that he doesn’t deal with anyone who hurts kids)

It’s also how he eventually ends up with his own Key, the Bravery Key was given to him in a box along with the orange Glass Eye (this was actually a trade he made with Frisk who needed medicine for their sibling Chara who got sick with Sunshine Sickness as the two had first come to the Underground Tent City)

Anywayssss that’s it for this lore drop

I’m too lazy to actually create in-depth and we’ll thought out lore but I hope this is interesting none the less :D

‘wait, wait, wait- you’ve been using it without having any idea what this does?’ Rivper’s eyelights fizzled out, near silent pop as his magic rushed into a churning pit where his stomach would be.

Helical shifted uneasily, glancing at the now softly swaying key dangling from the brim of his hat, orange gems glimmering softly.

‘well, i suppose… i never really thought about it, came with the eye,’ his hand waved non committedly around his right eye socket, the cracked glass of the prothetic eye light, a matching shade of orange. The panicked whine that escaped Rivper’s throat was, under most circumstances, quite impressive, currently though, Helical new better then to push the Sans that had survived multiple encounters with Nightmares gang, even earning a few G during said encounters. Helical himself had met the gang a few times, though he’d never been payed for his hospitality, escaping, barely, with his life being the most compensation he’d ever received from the cutthroat group.

The Sans equivalent of a multiverse taxi pressed the palms of his hands into his sockets, groaning,

‘you’re a magical item merchant, you literally deal with magic items daily, if anyone were to grasp the concept of unbelievably dangerous artefacts it should be you.’

Helical shrugged, gaze falling to the wayside, slightly left of Rivper’s hip, as he avoided eye contact,

‘well, i don’t, but i do enjoy learning about any magical item i may or may not have gotten myself cursed and soul-bound with.’ He tried for a reassuring smile, the act quickly falling at the others shout.

‘you what??!’ Rivper’s hands moved in a motion betraying his desire to strangle the salesman,

‘no, no, one thing at a time.’ Taking a deep breath he steadied himself, letting his shoulders slump along with the resigned puff of air.

‘that,’ he flicked the key, sending it swaying once more, ‘is a trans-dimensional gateway skeleton key, a tsk for simplicity, and it’s not from our multiverse.’

Helical, who had been snickering at the skeleton pun, choked on air,

‘w-what? how the hell is this thing not from our multiverse? and if so; how did i end up with it, surely one of the star sanses, or heck, even nightmare’s lot, would have gotten to this before me.’

Rivper shifted awkwardly, feet digging into the damp grass, of Idletale’s Waterfall, below them as he rubbed the back of his neck self consciously,

‘t-the thing is, i don’t think the stars are aware of this, only people who get a key really know about them, apparently they’re supposed to be passed on by hand, but it’s not unheard of for them to simply disappear from one au and reappear in another. and, as to how they’re from a different multiverse,’ Rivper paused, trying to remember exactly what his predecessor had told him.

‘as you know, there are multiple universes, aus, but there are also multiverses, like, a multiverse like ours except all our personalities are swapped.’

Helical nodded along, dimly aware of the concept after overhearing a few AUs in the Omega Timeline discussing something along similar lines.

‘well, this one multiverse, never got told the name, only had seven aus in it, and even that was too much, it quickly got overcrowded and started collapsing in on itself. the ones in charge of that multiverse, uhh they were riverpeople by the way, not sanses, decided the only way to survive was to escape to a different multiverse.’

‘our multiverse, right?’ Helical butted in, not particularly liking where this story seemed to be heading.

Rivper nodded, he had temporarily forgotten that, despite his antics (read: habit of creating disasters) Helical was a sans, and a bloody smart one at that, so it shouldn’t be too surprising he was catching on.

‘exactly, seven aus, and a key for each, i’ve, uhh, never been exactly told what happened to the original key owners, and honestly, i’m not planning on going looking. the point is, all seven keys ended up in our multiverse somehow, and, with a surprising amount of sentience for keys, keep finding themselves keymasters.’

Helical’s face scrunched, confusion bright in his one real, teal, eyelight,

‘okay, while that does sound thoroughly confusing, and upsettingly morbid, i’m not really seeing the danger here, so far all i know is that this key allows me to travel between aus and that’s pretty much it.’

Rivper bit his knuckle, humming in thought to himself,

‘okay, i will admit, not the best explanation, uhmn, okay, so, yes,’ he stalled, struggling to unjumble the wire mesh of words bubbling in his throat.

‘these keys have the ability to rip holes through space time, like a sort of wormhole, except they can travel between universes, between multiverses if really pushed, but like any tool, can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly. each of the seven keys is based on one of the seven human traits, yours is bravery,’ he paused, slipping something silver with a dark blue glean to it from his robe, ‘mine,’

He steamrolled over the gasp Helical let out at the information of Rivper owning his own key, ‘is integrity. this is why i can only use the key to a place i say i’m going to, no changing my mind halfway through, the reason i’m a great multiverse taxi is because i have to stay integral about my intentions, gotta stick to my rules, 5g and i’ll take you wherever you need no matter what no questions asked. thinking about it, i suppose it’s also why you can never know where your key will take you, you’ve got to brave about going somewhere you don’t know for it to work, overcome the fear of the unknown.’

Rehiding the key into his clothes, Rivper made eye contact with Helical,

‘however, no matter how cool they are, these keys only work with someone who has the same main soul trait of the keys, that’s why they usually find themselves aligned with a human, but,’ he paused, the risk of showing his soul weighing heavily, before sighing, drawing out the glowing culmination of his being, deep royal blue, pools of integrity dripping off the shaking soul, ‘i happen to have the soul trait of integrity.’

Helical’s gaze never left the soul, peacefully floating in Rivper’s grip dripping through his fingers unnaturally, his own hand moving to his chest where he knew the cracked and dimly flickering orange of his own Bravery adjacent soul lay.

‘it’s just as well, because, if anyone who didn’t share the soul trait with their tsk attempts to use the key, it would eat their soul whole and then everything else in their universe and, thusly, anything their universe touches.’

‘what?! are you telling me this whole time I’ve had a literal black hole waiting to happen attached to my hat like a decoration?!’ He shook Rivper’s shoulders in distress, the blue clad skeleton pushing his hands off with ease,

‘do you understand where my distress was coming from now?’

‘oh stars- and nightmare nearly used it-‘ Helical ignored Rivper at the memory of the negative skeleton, dark oily tentacles curled around his only escape, hand tightening around his throat as the king pondered the key curiously. If he hadn’t hit Nightmare with one of his platforms, effectively distracting him, he may very well be dead, deader then dead, and possibly have taken half the multiverse with him.

Rivper sighed, gripping Helical by the arms,

‘look, it’s- well, not okay, but you weren’t aware, and now you are, you’ll be more careful right? hey, we can even teach eachother about what we know of with the keys and any necessary safety protoco-‘

‘there you guys are, I thought we made it a rule not to wander off for more then five minutes.’

The two broke away from their conversation as a fatigued but content voice called out to them, belonging to a shorter skeleton. Barrier, stood at the end of the path, left hand gripped tightly around Idle’s right, betraying the fact that the taller of the two had probably been attempting to get himself into more trouble. Next to them stood Spoke and Climate, the two having a pleasant conversation from the looks of it, Spoke explaining the intricacies of echo flower tea while Climate nodded along sagely, likely not actually understanding anything the other said.

Rivper, despite himself, hadn’t noticed how long they’d been gone, having separated outside Gerson’s empty shop, the after-Genocidal quietness of Idle’s AU allowing for time to loose meaning relatively easily. Helical took the sudden interruption with stride,

‘ah, sorry bars,’’don’t call me that.‘i’ve spent the last twenty minutes trying to convince ripver to let me have a spin at his ferry.’

Helical was unsettlingly good at lying, something Rivper didn’t fancy looking deeply into,

‘and i’ve spent the last twenty minutes telling you over my cold dust. i’m not letting anyone take my pride and joy for a ‘spin’, least of all a sans that somehow causes more destruction then idle without even trying, and idle is a maniac that can summon a gun out of nowhere whenever he so pleases.’

Idle’s offended gasp at the, honestly quite just accusation, added the needed humour to break any remaining tension in the conversation, the six sanses quickly falling into familiar ease as they formulated their next plan, running out of supplies as they were it was looking likely that they’d have to send someone to the Omega Timeline to restock.

As the conversation drifted toward’s why it wasn’t a good idea to allow Idle alone in the AU unsupervised, Helical couldn’t help his thoughts lagging on one small problem.

If Helical and Rivper each had one, where were the other five keys.

A few people have asked about Helical’s key, and I actually have a lot of lore set up for it, so I thought I’d write a small one shot thingy explaining it, also revealing that Rivper also has a key!!

The key idea is completely mine, I don’t think anyone else has done this(??) sorry if someone has lol,

But I’m also leaving it as an open thing, as in, if you wanna give your AU one of the five keys go wild, free reign, as long as they share the soul trait with their tsk key they’re pretty much open for interpretation and you can use them however

Here’s a little sketch of Rivper and Helical’s Keys as an example:

Oft, aight- this is a hard one

For Barrier, he doesn’t really let himself grow close to people anymore, too scared of loosing them to actually become friends with anyone, so the people he’s closest to are probably a tie between his Frisk and Alphys (them being the only other two survivors of his AU)

Which sucks seeing as he’s banned from the Omega Timeline where they’re staying thus can’t see them anymore /:

For Idle, (not including justice and patience), he doesn’t really have time to make friends as he’s busy hunting someone across the multiverse but is on pretty positive with most AUs he comes across, he would say he’s closer to both Barrier and Spoke then other AUs tho

Spoke: Papyrus

A: you can’t choose papyrus

Spoke: but papyrus is my favourite someone

A: someone- anyone but papyrus

Spoke:… Papyr-

(He’s friends with Birdtale sans and is trying to become friends with every AU that has a crack in their skull so they can make an ‘epic crackhead team!’ but horror keeps trying to bite him so it’s slow going)

Now the Disaster trio is over time for the next 3

Rivper isn’t really friends with too many people, but he’s also not really on negative terms with many, even Nightmare’s gang are okay with him after they brought the gang back to their castle after a fight where NM was rendered unconscious

He probably wouldn’t say he has any favourite people but he cares about a lot of people anyway

Helical would also struggle to not answer Papyrus, but he’s actually super close to his Undyne as well, all three of them having a sibling dynamic where they would die for the other,

If we’re talking about AU’s tho, he’d probably have to say Spoke (Spoke let’s him get away with a lot) and Rivper (key buddies)

Climate has to say Lapsed,

What are your boi's pronouns?! (Main Sans OC's)

Ah!! Ty for asking!!

Here are their pronouns and a lil bit of info for flavour

Barrier uses He/Him but he won’t correct you or mind if you use the wrong pronouns,

Idle uses He/Him and She/Her, he’s Bi-Gender but is also completely okay if you just pick one pronoun and stick to it (but will secretly be ecstatic if you switch her pronouns up)

and Spoke uses any pronouns but just defaults to He/Him because he’s too lazy to explain that to everyone he meets

(Also, not part of the disaster Trio but imma tell ya Rivper, Climate and Helical’s pronouns too UwU)

Rivper uses He/They but always forgets to actually tell people their pronouns

Climate uses He/Him but when first asked what his pronouns were, asked ‘what are pronouns? Can you eat them?’

And Helical refuses to tell anyone his pronouns and just say’s ‘guess lol’ (he’s comfortable with anything he just thinks the reactions are hilarious’

Not creative or knowledgeable in the music department but some people have been asking what each of my AUs battle themes would sound like,

So here are the closest I can get to describing main five at least lmao

Barrier: basically imagine “Credits Song for my Death” mixed with Megalovania, no idea how that would work in reality but it works in my brain

Idle: a mix of Megalovania with overlapping Justice and Patience (from the Omega Flowey Fight) themes that echo in time with it in the background

Spoke: much closer to Errors theme than anything, Megalovania that’s glitchy and missing chunks of it just filled with static and a disconcerting mix of “But Nobody Came” and “Ruins”, actually super creepy

Helical: there’s actually a theme that already exists that gives me helical vibes, so very much something at least similar to this

Rivper: actually uses “A Song That May Play When you Fight Sans” but Reversed and played at like half speed, also supposed to echo like you’re in a cave and just be creepy in general

Climat(e): Megalovania but Major Key because it sounds funky

do you associate any of your sanses with certain soul colors? like based on the attributes- or mechanics or whatever

Yes yes!!

I feel Helical, Rivper and Idle are the most well known, but I try to associate all of my AUs with a soul trait, even my smaller ones, as a way of character design to make them feel more real and understand their personality

Again, Helical and Rivper are both key holders (if you don’t understand I’ll link the post that explains this here!!),

So Helical’s soul trait is Bravery and Rivper is Integrity

And Idle’s whole schtick is having his soul spice with Justice and Patience (he’s actually one of the few of my AUs that didn’t have a soul trait of his own at the start for lore reasons, I have a fic about this AU here)

Spoke’s soul trait is actually a mix of Perseverance and Integrity, It’s never actually stated in his story but it’s there IG \[•–•]/

Climate doesn’t actually have a soul so he’s actually N/A in this situation

Barrier is the first AU that uses a non standard Soul Trait (not on of the main 7) which is the trait of Desperation (Seafoam Green)

Now this is my own personal soul idea, so it’s not based off the original or any other soul traits so it doesn’t make much sense srry (,:

I have a few Lesser known AUs that also have nonstandard soul traits like Beans sans who has Survival as a trait (it’s very confusing to explain I’m so sorry-) which is a Maroon and sort of a middle ground for determination and perseverance

Anyway, yes, I do try to give my AUs a soul trait even if it’s not one of the 7

Had a dream about Rivper meeting an AU for the first time and accidentally invented Carrion (BirdFell sans) so have a tiny comic of him and Rivper being besties and definitely not threatening each other (: (/sarc)

(Yes Rivper is threading him with a Boat Paddle and yes Rivper’s 5’1 self kicked Carrions 6’4 ass)

Also, I’ve never seen another version of Birdfell, it’s probably already an AU, but here’s my take on it anyway (Carrion is a Bearded Vulture)

Back to me pretending I’m a productive artist when I’m actually just rewatching BBC Ghosts for the 18th time cause I’m sad and need some found family content

N E Ways, more doodles :D!! (I am actually working on things my ADHD just wants to mess around during the in betweens of projects)

First up, my continued struggles of trying to draw on FlipaClip with only 2 layers (technically 3 but the Sketch Layer doesn’t count), and shading can go choke on a corn kernel :)

An AU redraw from one of my very first AUs back in 2016 (I believe there are only 2 AUs I have that are older then this one, Raintale and Spoketale) but have some Skeintale doodles,

It’s not based on Birdtale btw cause I made this AU before I ven knew about Birdtale, they do all have wings tho so hushhhh

Next up, another animation, these are progress shots of an animation meme I’m drawing of Barrierfall (it’s angst cause I refuse to let Barrier be happy)

Keeping the animation theme going, have some shots from a massive animation I’m working on with multiple AUs (it’s two minutes long- why do I do this to myself-)
