Okay yeah I am actually gonna write some meta about why Hermione & Hiram’s toxic relationship works for me and 🪑 doesn’t. a) Riverdale never romanticizes the Lodge marriage. There isn’t endless scenes full of bad dialogue where they declare themselves to be “epic love”. b) Riverdale’s narrative (often using Veronica as a mouthpiece) is very aware that Hiram has the power & control, and that while Hermione has certainly done her fair share of bad things, her badness is nowhere near comparable to Hiram. c) unlike 🪑 who have constant sex scenes seemingly for shock value more than anything else, the Lodges only have one (I assume we’re not getting another one). It’s not there for shock value, it actually serves a purpose - to show us why Hermione keeps going back to Hiram. By showing us only once, it packs a much more powerful punch (also it helps that both actors are actually hot 😏).

Day 22: Time Problems

Dot Cahill's cousin Teddy Green and Paisley Monaghan's cousin Dilton Doiley created a time machine by accident, but they never intended for Dot to be taken back to Riverdale in the early 1990s. But this is exactly what occurs. Dot is suddenly surrounded by all of the grownups she has come to know as her and her closest friends' parents. except they are all teens and quite different from who they are now. She observes her parents with utter scorn for one another, only to be pulled together in the end by a game they all played and the tragedy that ensued. Her aunt Tina and late uncle Collin were just beginning their growing romance. Dot tries to steer clear of them, unable to control her sadness. Then there are Kippi's parents, Jack and Rebecca, who seem so distant from the catastrophe that awaits them in the future. It takes all of Dot's strength not to warn them about the it. Paisley's parents, Grayson and Audrey, appear to be the only ones who take Dot's warnings seriously. But by the time they convince their friends to listen, it may be too late to prevent the worst from happening.

unfortunately i did workshop this with the army gc and i think i have a proposal. it doesn't totally work because of gender dynamics and the way the universes of corporate-competitive art performance and riverdale aren't really quite aligned, but i think i got somewhere.

RIVERDALE MAINS AS BTS MEMBERS:

jughead = rm / kim namjoon. iconoclast. the lyricist-narrator of the whole deal. the link to the big corporate-bureaucratic metaplot in the sky. a typewriter kind of guy. there are so so so many of him and sometimes they interact. queerbait-complicit and yet sidestepping it.

reggie = jin / kim seokjin. the negotiator. the big-city boyfriend from the hallmark movie. the nation's son-in-law but DID flirt with your grandmother and your dad at the function. fed that mean old man from his bare hand. schemes and scams, less opportunistically than as a vocational calling. second place to karl marx and knows it.

betty = suga / min yoongi. she's resisting her idol image with her gratuitously-edgy secondary persona but she's still your poor little meow meow, your baby. she's alert! she's fractured! her amygdala is working sooo hard. her shadow grows and grows and she's avoiding it she's looking at it she's avoiding it she's looking. don't say tangerine.

veronica = j-hope / jung hoseok. idk it's about perfectionism. it's about how CRYING 👏 DOES 👏 NOT 👏 FIT 👏 WITH 👏 HER 👏 LIFE'S 👏 VIBE. it's about lean-in girlbossism. it's about success not creating psychological safety (but she wants more anyway bc what else is she here to do). she's nice but she's ruthless but she loves you!! and on several tragic levels iykyk: she da bus driver all of a sudden.

kevin = jimin. compulsive joiner. compulsive people-pleaser. compulsive flirt. compulsive. mapplethorpe fanboy. gender outlaw. a smoke-show, now. most likely to charm a late night talk show host. queerbaiter of the cruising-coded-crowd-scene variety. most likely to put it all on the line for a little cabaret ♥

Is it 2 years in the making? Almost but not quite 👀

Midway through his first class back at college for semester two, Jughead found himself completely unable to concentrate on his professor.

Instead, his computer’s cursor strayed away from the poem he’d downloaded as he grit his teeth and opened up Google. He typed into the search engine: Can you hallucinate seven months after a concussion? And waited for the instant flow of information.

The results weren’t giving him much optimism, but if the insanity of his life the previous year had taught him anything it was that he had to accept everything for what it was. And right now, his life was forcing him into the path of a person who had tried to frame his girlfriend for his murder.

Elle stirred in his arms and blinked up at him. When he looked down at her, he saw the tell-tale signs that she was about to start crying. Almost automatically, he reached into the side of his backpack and pulled a bottle out of the warmer. Elle hungrily accepted it just as she made a gurgle of annoyance.

He noted the side-eye glances some of his classmates gave him, but their attention quickly went back to the projector screen with which the professor attempted to explain her poetry analysis. He snuck a glance at Donna - but she wasn’t looking at him, merely smirking ahead.

don’t get me wrong i love that season seven is letting us relive the beginning of choni, but i really wish more of it was from toni’s pov, we got cheryl’s the first time and we already know she’s struggling with comphet mainly because of her family/upbringing (which is totally valid of course) but i really wanted to see more of toni’s perspective this time around since in all six prior seasons we’ve rarely seen it
