for the kin aasignjng: louis louis louis louis louis louis
Louis Patriarch is...Riprap! ☕⚡
Both of them are hot-headed, irritable, and grumpy people who hide their emotions under toughness, and eventually learn to open up through understanding their partner in ways unexpected. Sadly, in the main story Riprap does *not* go through getting eaten just so he can learn to be a nicer person, but he does eventually figure it out anyways. I don't think either of them would like each other much due to the fact that they are pretty much mirrors in personality, motivations, and even the Experimented On By A Villain backstory (absolutely not intentional-- I just so happened to like the trope of character back when I made Riprap in Middle School, and Louis being so similar was just a happy accident!), but I think it would especially annoy Louis that Riprap is almost four or five years younger than him and still carries quite a bit of immaturity. Both of them will figure it out eventually, but considering where they are at in the beginning of their stories it would probably be a bad idea to stick them together until both of them learn to cool off a bit.
Louis Patriarch is from @peachnewt 's series, Getting in Deep, and Riprap is my own from the story Their Scattered Hosts!

Riprap is defined as broken stone or boulders that are placed compact or irregular manner on shorelines or riverbanks to protect the earth again action of waves or currents. These rocks work as a natural barrier against constant wear that comes from water movement and weather. They can effectively absorb and disperse the energy of waves, currents, and runoff. Rocks used in riprap projects can vary in size from 4 inches to over 2 feet.

A quail and probably bobcat tracks from our hike today too. We also filled one bag with rocks.

Types of River Protection Works by Water Resource Engineering
Rivers play a crucial role in shaping the landscape and supporting ecosystems, but they are also susceptible to various natural and human-induced threats. Water resource engineering encompasses a range of techniques and structures designed to protect rivers from erosion, sedimentation, and other potential hazards. In this article, we will explore the various types of river protection works…

Kin assign Reese do it he is my favoritist boy
Reese Carmichael is... Eddie! 🔓🌹
They are both charming thieves who enjoy overindulgence-- Reese with his snacks, Eddie with partying and alcohol/drugs. They both have a partner in crime they work with who they care about deeply and they're humorous additions to the main cast of their stories, constantly providing a positive upside for other characters to lean on. They even both constantly try to rizz other people up by flirting. It's adorable.
However, Eddie is reckless, and Reese is cautious. Eddie's tendency to become too closely attached makes him clingy and vulnerable, many times being overly emotional when people reject him, and he craves authority to praise him. Reese, on the other hand, is far more secretive, keeping his cool and finding that he trusts himself far more than the people who try to control him. I think if they interacted, it would go fantastic at first, but the more Reese ends up showing him new tricks and turning up the showmanship. Well. He's quickly going to learn Eddie is far more excitable about Other Types of crime and does not put Nearly as much thought as he does into making sure people are safe.
Reese Carmichael belongs to @peachnewt and her series, Getting in Deep, while Eddie belongs to me and my series, Their Scattered Hosts!

Exploring the Diverse Techniques of River Erosion Works
Introduction Rivers, with their ever-flowing currents, have the incredible power to shape the landscape over time. However, this natural force can sometimes pose a threat to human settlements, infrastructure, and agricultural lands. To mitigate the adverse effects of river erosion, various engineering techniques have been developed over the years. In this article, we will delve into the different…

An intertidal habitat for marine life constructed by the company Living Seawalls
Seawalls are causing intertidal habitats to vanish as ocean levels increase. But eco-entrepreneurs say artificial rockpools and crevices can save wildlife
“Species that inhabit the intertidal zone have evolved to live in that environment,” said Pip Moore, a professor of marine science at Newcastle University. These animals find the world’s rising temperatures very stressful, she says. “Lots of organisms use the natural heterogeneity in the rocky shore to hide away from those stresses – [but] a seawall or even a “riprap” boulder don’t have that complexity of habitat.”
Exactly how badly coastal wildlife is affected by coastal squeeze is not entirely clear, but scientists have found that structures such as Artecology’s Vertipools (above) show a “significantly greater” species richness when compared with a normal seawall after five years. One Bournemouth University team found species of crab, fish and periwinkle living in them that had been absent before.

What you see is not what you get. Here's a home in Juneau, Alaska, a standard looking house priced at $399,900. But, walk around to the other side.
And, WTH? I was NOT expecting this.
Apparently, the Mendenhall River right next to it overflowed, but according to the description, it's been professionally riprapped now, (is that like to stop it from overflowing?), b/c it means a range of rocky material placed along the shorelines.
Anyway, this looks like a big hole that would have to be filled, and the house is condemned, although the part that's still standing is in good condition. So, what does the buyer get for $400K?
The buyer gets a kitchen w/outdated cabinets.
A large open-concept dining area.
A rec room that has weird nooks w/big lanterns on each end that opens to a terrace.
1 bedroom is left and it's VERY open concept since the wall is missing.
And, one remaining standard 3 pc. bathroom. Nothing special about the house.
Also, the buyer is responsible for removing all the debris. I think this calls for a price reduction and I still wouldn't trust that river.

Recently I’ve started fossil hunting, and I’ve found several things on the surface of boulders in riprap along the Chicago river. I have no idea what species any of these things may be, but I know it’s at least mostly stuff from an ancient ocean floor. This includes things like bivalves and corals—many corals. These are pictures of a handful of the things I’ve found with a ruler for scale.
