rin cried when she overheard him. she came and clung to her tattered school uniform and sputtered snot across her knees, begging her not to go, to become happy; to stay with them forever and become a family. at first, that idea had disturbed her. everything about this world frightened her, especially sesshomaru. ( what did he think of her? what would he do with her if she could not heal his wounds with the shikigami? jaken insisted that's all he kept her around for ).

kaname finally turned to look at him, unable to fight the fresh tears that welled in her eyes. tentatively, gently, she folded the photo and placed it back inside of her undershirt; close to her heart. ( 𝚒 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 𝚋𝚛𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 ) . ❝ i won't slow you down much longer once i find my brother . . . we'll return to our time. ❞ the smile she gives was all but forced, ❝ ⸻ or if we see kagome and inuyasha again, maybe i can break off there. i'll be sure to explain to rin . . . she'll understand, she's a smart girl.❞

but did she want to go? did she want to leave them . . . ( no ). the truth was that something was blooming inside her, but how selfish was she? when her brother was somewhere, suffering . . . when her soul was at risk from being ripped from her chest, and here she was; falling in love.

@inuyashapridemonth I present to thee... ramblings. And a drawing of a demisexual icon napping with the (sun) light of his life. I could scream for hours to myself with the idea of demi vs ace sess. Because...he’s proven time and time again that he loves his people (caring enough to bring Jaken back to life after he was cut down, admitting that power was not worth Rin’s life, and even getting angry enough to break his sword over Kagura.) But! Platonic love is just as strong as romantic love and InuYasha risks his life for his friends all the time so it isn’t like the concept isn’t explored in canon. 

So he does love, but that doesn’t mean he does so romantically and because he is a side character and thus has no love interest... I will likely scream into the void forever and always. 

But I’m just rambling now. So. Demi Sess with his person cause i feel that demi is the perfect middle for my personal fanfic needs

I will say despite having SO much fun theorizing SessKagu tomorrow’s episode we’ll get to see Setsuna and Towa interact a lot more. If they’re relationship is supposed to mirror their parents we’ll be able to see more clearly from here on out.

I saw so many comparison between SessKagu and SessRin in that scene. Many shippers choose the one where Sess catches Rin, right? His figure and especially face is soooo bad in there 😂

I'm surprised shippers move on because they seem to cling to every single SessRin content they can get.

They do their best to ignore the awfulness of the art they get, but despite their skill in mental gymnastics, sometimes reality is impossible to deny 😭 The PedoBin flower field moment is fugly as hell and they know it. Where's that old "Chanel vs Walmart" SessKagu/PedoBin flowerfield comparison pic when you need it???

How Roaches Are A Cult

I have a list by Cult Research as a handy analytical tool for signs you may be in a cult. I’ve highlighted the bulletins that Roaches have demonstrated and the fact that so many are highlighted is alarming. I’m going to break down how each of these have been demonstrated.

The group displays excessive zealous and unquestioning commitment. Now this is mostly an “ideology” related one. Not leader. But they treat this as law and heaven help you if you don’t agree. If you do not ship SessR*n the way they do, you’re out. Anything that might contradict, even fact (Like Takahashi outright stating Sess is Rin’s dad), is disregarded or they make something up. They are so massively committed to their “ship” that they will ignore FACTS. FROM the AUTHOR. Who CREATED the characters.

Questioning, doubt, or dissent is discouraged. Yeah if you even hint that you think Rin might not be the mom to the twins? You go on the blocklist. Which if you’re a member of the group, is a horrible thing. B/c it means you’re not “one of them” anymore. And the block list is used for stalking and doxxing and they will harass people.

The Leadership dictates how people should think and act Yeah. They have a leadership. And it’s fucking creepy that they do. I won’t name them here but both the main leader and co-leader will tell people that they’re not devoted enough. Or they should do certain things.

The group is elitist, claiming special status Yeah how often do they yell “OUR SHIP IS CANON” in our faces? Trying to flaunt their false sense of superiority? Speaks for itself there. And they think they are special for their “ship being canon”.

The group has a polarized “us vs them” mentality Do. Do I really need to go into this one? They literally stalk and harass us b/c they see us antis as some big threat to their personhood. And they exclaim it on a daily basis.

The Leader is not accountable to any authorities They’ve stalked, harassed, doxxed, and even tried to get people fired for disagreeing with them. They think they’re above the law and have committed several crimes in their actions. Both their leaders and the members.

The Group Teaches That the Ends Justify The Means They really believe that it’s OK to do all this b/c we don’t agree with them. That it’s okay to harass us, come into OUR safe spaces, falsely accuse people of crimes, try to get them fired. All b/c we don’t agree.

The Leadership uses guilt and shame and induces it in members as a tool of control We know that they do. There’s a very active one on twitter who ridicules others if they don’t “fall in line” or think even slightly different than they do.

The Group is pre-occupied with bringing in new members They try SO HARD to get us to like what they like, try to convince us the ship’s not gross. They fail b/c they have no leg to stand on, but good GOD do they try to get us to drink their kool-aid and join them.

Members are expected to devote time How many weeks have they tried to get their people to do? To devote the time an energy into such a thing to wave around their “superiority”. How often are they expected to try and convert us in DMs and on twitter? There’s a clear expectation there.

In conclusion, Roaches check off 10/15 bullet points on something that analyzes cult behaviour from a cult research website. This solidifies to me that they ARE a cult.

And before any roaches get any ideas on twisting this back on Antis, no. We don’t check off these boxes. We have no leader, no one is expected to do anything, we even respect some people who ship SessR*n b/c they hate how abusive it’s portrayed in Yashahime and wanted an actual adult Rin with agency.

We do not shame each other. We do not expect anyone to sacrifice time or money or effort. We don’t try to bring in new members. We don’t need to. People ask us about it, we explain our POV, and that’s about it. We question each other on a regular basis too. And we keep each other accountable on the rare occasion something DOES happen.

Still not an inuyasha blog, but we all need some laughs. Here's a list of popular Sesshoumaru pairings and why I think they're great.

Context: Sesshoumaru has always been my fav character. However, I ended up becoming a multishipper because I AM SO DESPERATE FOR A SHRED OF EMOTION out of that fucking plank, that literally any other character having any sort of romance or interaction with him was a slippery slope. These are in no particular order cause they are all, for the most part, great.

Sesskag: my O.G O.T.P! I always saw Sesshoumaru as a more mature Inuyasha (I say that lightly cause they're both dense), and I always felt kagome was too good for inuyasha 😆 (I mean she still is, but I'm good with inukag cause now we have moroha). This pair is a good balance of demon vs priestess. I mostly blame @youkaiyume for her beautiful art and storytelling. She had me hook, line and sinker. Will ship this until I die.

SessMir: also a good balance, similar to sesskag. These men could learn alot from each other, and it could have been oh so tender. Also its hot and has dope fan art 🤷‍♀️

SessSan: This pairing is dope because of the juxtapositions of demon vs slayer. Extra saucy, physically strong characters, and has great fan art.

SessNar: I actually dont like this pairing, but I'd be lying if I said I couldnt see why it's a thing. I just dont like naraku, honestly. Theyd probably go to sephora alot together, though.

SessKagu: the waaaaayyy better version of SessNar. Also kagura was so underrated. Rumiko did her dirty. This pairing could have been so beautifully toxic together, but it would be dope if it wasn't, too (they found d healing together or something). Not enough fan art of this, but some really good gems out there. I would have loved to see this become canon, and will ship it till I die.

SessRin: Oh the controversy. Personally? I never saw romance between them in the show or Manga (mostly because there never was anything beyond platonic interactions- in fact, I always assumed sess saw rin as more of a pet in an ironic twist of species?), but I did figure they'd end up together simply because of Rins influence over Sesshoumaru's character arch...which is all I ever wanted, really. Something. Just a little emotion that wasn't anger. I don't love the age difference (mostly because it's a low hanging fruit for people who dont like the ship), but despite some peoples claims, there really is no tangible toxicity in this relationship that we as fan actually witness. In fact, we only ever really see a mutual love, respect and dependability for one another, which is just plain lovely, and again, everything I wanted out of sesshoumaru's character. Also, rin being sassy and roasting Jaken often brings me great joy. Has great fanart. Will ship this until I die (now, more than ever, out of spite lol).

SessJak: I dont blame anyone for this. All the evidence is there, low key. "Beautiful Master" 😏

Sesskik: a very aesthetically pleasing pair, although emotionally speaking, it's like stacking bricks. Has great fan art.

SessInu: I mean...I've never actually been a fan, but they were always on each others ass, so...🤷‍♀️

SessKae: Pure Hilarity and underrated. Best age based pairing of all. No one appreciates kaede enough, and honestly? I'm not sure she can even die. Perfect for an immortal demon lord 😂

SessKog: This one is just hot 🤷‍♀️. Not as good as SessMir, better than SessNar. They'd probably kill each other because communication skills are lacking on both ends here. They're both dumb though, so who knows. Not enough fanart, but a handful of gems.

Sess x no one: now, the whole point of this post is self-serving ships, but sesshoumaru with no one is also very believable! I could totally see him has never learning how to be in a relationship, or never NEEDING to be in one. I dont believe being in a relationship was the only way we could've gotten emotion from him, but that would require better writing, so it was never gonna happen that way, unfortunately.

I hope over the next few weeks, despite all the commotion, the fans can at least just enjoy the show for what it's meant to be: a shitty anime sequal that is our only renewed outlet for nostalgia. If not, stop watching it and find inner peace 💖 life is hard enough these days.

HnY ep 18

Ok, finally I had the chance to watch this week’s episode, and I loved it. I understand why people may be dissapointed, but I think we are getting somewhere.

Spoilers ahead!

Let’s start with the not so good:

The pacing, while it wasn’t the worst, it could definitely be improved. There was so much condensed into one episode, it could have been splitted into two, but oh well

Konton’s dead was kind of anticlimatic? I actually was in denial hahaha. Again, if it was two episodes instead of one, maybe that would’ve helped

While I think the animation is not bad, and the fight scenes were pretty good (I’m used to TOEI’s One Piece disasters, so I have a high tolerance haha), sometimes the drawings seems off

Now the good, which i LOVED it

The girl’s relationship. From Towa and Setsona fighting together, to Moroha being worried about her cousin’s well being, their relationship is a whole lot more solidified and it makes me so happy, because overall the first half of HNY had some issues with the characterization of the girls, and now we have three totally diferent people that organically care for each other. I specially loved the finale scene where they share the same sentiment of frustration after what happened.

KIRINMARU (like damn pls step on my face), ok he was the highlight of the episode, it’s amazing how powerful he is, everytime he’s on screen I love this character even more

Sesshoumaru vs Kirinmaru. Amazing battle, amazing sountrack, it gave me chills, do I need to say more? I knew the first time Sess would meet his daughters, he was going to save them and show everyone who’s boss

Papa!Sess.  Ok, ok, ok I know lots of people are dissapointed in the fact that Sess was on screen like 4 minutes, said two words and left again, buuuuut in his defense, it appears Kirinmaru has some kind of leverage on him, this is perhaps related to Rin’s actual state and the dream butterfly, and also the well-being of Towa and Setsuna. He clearly isnt “allowed” to be near his family for their own safety, the question is, what do zero/kirinmaru are threating him with? To me, he looked at his daughters with such softness and nostalgia excuse me while i cry Bonus:Jaken is a sweetheart, he sounded so proud of the twins!

The final scene, it was very emotional to have the girls share a common sense of frustration and confusion, but also the fact that the twins are with their mother without realizing it’s so tragic...I love Rin so much, I hope she wakes soon, and the soundtrack was *cheff kiss*

When I got the Inuyasha and Kagome nendoroids I thought of the manga color scheme in a new way.

Pink (Inuyasha's original color) and green are opposites

Inuyasha has white hair, Kagome has black

Inuyasha has golden eyes, Kagome has grey almost silver like eyes

He has weird ears, she doesn't

They are seemingly opposites, but when Inuyasha turns human, he too has black hair and grey eyes. Signifying that they aren't that different after all.

(if you wonder, of the nendoroids I have Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikyo (half so Kagome can have her miko outfit but she's good for horror photos). I have pre-ordered Sango, but not Miroku, and refuse to get Sess for now until the mess in cleared up. I might get him if Kagura comes. And I didn’t think of that ☹️ that’s actually kinda cute they’re opposites but the same objectively inukag’s romance isn’t anything TOO special it’s classic enemies to friends to lovers (good shit) but idk fuck rumiko but when I was 10 they were THE romance it felt organic to me and even on my rewatch it still feels that way idt Kagome needed anyone but she was really just what Inuyasha needed and if we excuse Inuyasha’s asshaterary at the beginning of the series (and sunrise inuyasha) he’s emotional, sensitive, loyal, and authentic and ☹️ I won’t call him perfect but manga inuyasha it’s so hard not to love him sometimes (sorry for the rant)

And…oh god if they pair child! Rin with him…….

Richard Cox the voice actor is vehemently against sess/rin and has been for years. So if an actor who worked on the show doesnt see a clear romance, i dont see why the shippers expect everyone else too. Also in an interview takashi said sess would be with someone like kikyo so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, you know what shippers would say about Richard Ian Cox and his "Western" (though it's demonstrably not and East vs West thing at all) attitude toward the pairing, lol! But I do appreciate that his opinion resembles ours. It's nice to have folks who actually are involved with the creation of the show express a view similar to your own, especially when that viewpoint is gaslit just about every time you mention it.

I WOULD say that the interview when RT described Sesshoumaru's ideal woman as Kikyou-like wasn't really confirmed to be real, but in her most recent interview, she said a similar thing about his diet possibly including "fruits" if he eats traditionally at all, so I think it checks out now.

What doesn't check out is what kind of DOG eats FRUIT anyway, but I digress. 😒

I’m going to skirt around the Sess/Rin issue since both sides are so charged, BUT I just wanted to chime in that if you compare the original manga with the original anime, it’s obvious they care about the Western market, because so much stuff was toned down in the anime compared to the manga version, and if the anime was also going to have a primarily Japanese audience, or they didn’t care about what the Westerners would think, then I don’t think they’d have bothered making those changes. The manga was originally intended for a Japanese audience, but if we translate it ourselves to read it, well then that’s on us. Until VIZ already had license to make the English dub version of the anime there was no *official* English translated manga. In fact I think it happened much later, after VIZ caught wind that there was a fan version floating around. I still remember when Onemanga had to pull it because VIZ complained.

But anyway, a few quick examples of changes between the two, where the horror or sexual content was toned down to be more acceptable to an International audience: First and foremost, the manga shows Kagome’s breasts, complete with nipples, and the anime doesn’t. They knew they could never get away with that in the anime. In the manga Kagome first notices Yura’s hairs because she bisects a bird, which was changed to a leaf in the anime. I’m pretty sure the disembodied heads growing on the tree were changed to human-faced fruit because the heads were deemed a little overboard, and Inuyasha was also swallowed whole and had to escape Tokajin’s stomach rather than his gourd, so that was more grossness and violence significantly toned down. And a major one that comes to mind is in the manga, Mukotsu just straight up tries to rape Kagome, vs. the anime which had him performing this really weird fake wedding ceremony where he tries to ‘marry’ her, instead. (Presumably this would lead to him raping her after she’s his ‘wife’ so it was a way to portray the same horror while delaying the actual physical assault.)

And when it comes to things that can be changed when dubbed into another language as stated above, which is obviously real easy to do in a cartoon, I distinctly remember that when the bandits first captured Kagome, one of them grabbed her skirt and made a lewd comment either implying she’s a prostitute or that she would at least provide a good time, whereas in the English version he’s only talking about the ridiculousness of her short skirt, and when Kagome whirls away from him, instead of whatever she said in Japanese in disgust of the man’s gross comments (I only saw it once in Japanese years ago, so I can’t remember what the subtitles said exactly, but it was something like keep your hands to yourself or whatever, making clear Kagome understood very well what he was implying) I can still hear the English version loud and clear in my head of Kagome going either let go or don’t do that but then also “it’ll rip” meaning her skirt, which is hilarious. A pervert fingering your skirt for a minute will rip your skirt? That’s some cheap ass fabric, girl, maybe you shouldn’t traipse across all of Feudal Japan in it, then, LOL. But point being, they changed it in English, which Sunrise knew they could, so they were toeing the line like “What can we get away with that the Westerners can change for their audience?” Of course, that skirt grab scene doesn’t even happen in the manga, LOL, but they probably added it to the anime to make up for the other stuff they had to remove. Because one other major way in which that scene is changed is that all the bandits get decapitated or dismembered and shit when the crow is controlling their boss and he’s swinging the sword around like a puppet, whereas in the anime I’m pretty sure it did not have all that blood and gore. I remember he decapitates a statue.

So yes, they definitely take the Western audience into consideration.

do you think that Japanese studios care about what Western audiences feel? I see a lot of people saying that SessRin is really popular in Japan, and that's why it became canon, and that they don't care about what western audiences think. Do you think that's true?

Think of it this way:

Homophobia is not really acceptable throughout North America and a ton of Western Europe. That's not to say it doesn't happen or it's not a reality for people in these countries, just that it's slowly becoming less and less okay for people to hold these views. But, why hasn't there been a gay kiss in a Star Wars movie that isn't a blink and you'll miss it vibes? Why is it such a struggle for cartoons like Steven Universe to push for LGBTQ romance? Why has Disney had 32 first gay characters?

People will be quick to blame the manbabies who scream about wokeness, but it's actually mostly other countries. Other countries (and their governments) are the reason why. Because in the world of globalization and the free market, the millions that the domestic box office for the Rise of Skywalker brought in 2019 (about 500 million) wasn't enough, they wanted to hit that 1 billion range. And that wouldn't have happened without the international market, which isn't as accepting as North America. This is why any scrap of LGBTQ representation is going to be hollow and easily cutable or dubbed over by another actor in another language.

Yeah, they care. The international market for anime is growing. Currently, it's worth about 24 billion, with over a third of that coming from overseas. It's predicted to be worth almost 50 billion by 2030, and the international market will likely overtake the domestic one.

Yeah, they care. And if they don't now, they'll start soon.

SessRin became canon because of its supposed popularity in the fandom because fandoms don't really care about platonic relationships. They don't. Like you can't talk about a platonic, not-blood-related relationship in fandom for 10 minutes before somebody is like "they should fuck!" This isn't a dig, this is just how it is.

Nobody was celebrating dad Sesshomaru until after romantic SessRin was confirmed, not really, unless it was used as an accessory to another ship.

They looked at the SessRin community and took it at face value. how do u feel abt sesshomaru now after ep 15? honestly i was pretty disgusted with him and the writers after i heard the news since he's my favorite character and at the time i just couldn't even bring myself to watch the episode since i'm a csa survivor and it made me think of bad past experiences - i was unconsciously relating sess with my abuser and it hurt so much, especially when rin looked so young, oddly resembling her 8 year old self.

i don't really like the sequel because i'm not a fan of sess's character resolution and still, they added a lot of things that would require way more development to him in order to make sense to happen (i really am not a fan of him having hanyo kids too because it seems like too dramatic of a character development? and i personally do not like the concept of hny writers forcefully and lazily making him follow his father's footsteps by marrying him with a human when bakusaiga was the resolution of him standing proudly as a daiyokai, free of personal attachments to toga's heirlooms and the expression of his overall independence outside of his father's shadow) but i keep up with it online because my major fear was that they would make rin the mother of his kids (i was already expecting it though). anyways, last night i decided to watch the ep because even though i was absolutely disgusted, i wanted to see it how the writers got it done still. so i watched, and, personally i think the characters, especially him, felt kinda off? like despite the events of sess in the underworld saving rin's life and later offering protection to kohaku in the magatsuhi fight, him entering the hut and not sparing rin even a glance after her childbirth felt uncomfortably ooc. i understand he was in a rush, but still, he casually talked to kagome - it's just that he felt indifference towards rin, as much as everyone tries to deny it.

anyways, after my watching the ep, i just couldn't relate the og characters to the hny ones. it just doesn't feel like them at all; and i realized that i still like sess just like i used to after all because my subconscious does not relate him to what hny is doing because it simply doesn't seem like him at all. i understand that RT approved it, but i don't quite care since she's been apathetic towards inuyasha for so long that she doesn't care what they do to the franchise as long as she gets the bag. if she had written it though it would be another story, but she didn't.

if there were any hints in the og series of him potentially trying to groom rin i'd have noticed, but there wasn't any. everything felt quite familial, especially when he had so much authority over her and and she would obey any of his commands.

I don’t like sesshomaru I guess I never did but I didn’t hate him I didn’t start to like him until he got Rin I found it endearing it felt like he found a stray dog who always came to comfort him and when the dog followed him around he let it happen then it grew into a pure protector role I loved that character development on him really pre HNY I just hated how he become more monotone ? Rewatch anime he’s kinda dramatic in his own way I wish rumiko would have kept it with that basically I found him interesting and am disappointed b/c I felt he had even more potential

The HNY episode was horrible and that was one of the reasons they weren’t characters Miroku didn’t even show up but that could be b/c his voice actor passed but if no one told me I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference his replacement did a really good job Sango wasnt too present either but she didn’t really seem? Like herself Kagome was even worse throughout the series she has shown to be super empathetic and she didn’t care that Rin was crying to herself after her husband took her kids and she was so much younger than Kagome since they lived in the same village there’s no way she didn’t take on a big sister role inuyasha lost a lot of maturity imo but I guess have him yell and scream and that’s him sesshomaru ... it’s like he didn’t a fuck at ALL someone pointed out he always went out of his way to protect Rin and did it because “he’s the best” the final battle went on as long as it did b/c he wanted to save her just a complete 180

Idt there are any hints either like ppl defend it with “it happened later” which 1. how do you know that and 2. That doesn’t make it better like to me Rin was a pet then he grew found of her presence since she unconditionally trusted him kinda like? He learned humans aren’t bad they’re weak but not boring things I also think she took care of him when he was in a low spot too (even when he told her to leave) so he has some respect for her I wouldn’t be surprised if he never had someone do that for him Ik his mom loves him but idk how loving she is ? She might have just given him things vs just listening to him? Idk

With rumiko idk if that’s just her personality but I wouldn’t be shocked if IY was one of those stories you do and don’t care abt so when it bangs you’re just like “?? Why??” There are a lot of similarities to Ranma actually so she might have half assed inuyasha then it blew up so then she was like 😭 oh or after she finishes smth she yeets it either way she doesn’t seem to care too much abt it
