As the final hiring confirmation meeting faded into its close, Riku Tazumi, my new boss, gazed at me with a sincerity that took my breath away. “友達になってくれませんか?” he asked, his voice soft yet heavy with unsaid truths. The words, “Would you like to be friends?” were more than a simple inquiry; they were his way of requesting a raw honesty, an assurance that I wouldn't soften my truths to spare his feelings.

In the midst of NijiSanji's storm of criticism, he needs someone who can pierce through the static and deliver the stark reality of what's best for the talents. Meeting his earnest gaze, I replied with unwavering resolve, “最善を尽くします,” my voice a vessel of hope and determination.

We exchanged our goodbyes and my heartfelt thanks, and as the call ended, a profound weariness settled into my bones. Yet beneath that exhaustion was a bubbling excitement for this new chapter in my career. I couldn’t predict how fans and talents would respond, but I knew one thing for certain—I needed to share this news with someone special.

I moved slowly into our shared living room, where I found a familiar figure slumped on our old gray couch. He fidgeted nervously with his nails, tapping his foot to an unrecognized beat. “Michael, guess what just happened,” I said, trying to maintain a neutral expression, though my excitement fought to escape.

He looked up, bounding off the couch to envelop me in an impossibly tight hug. “You have to guess! You need to guess! You can’t just assume, dude!” His fervor was so palpable I struggled to breathe.

Eventually, he pulled away, his gaze drifting from my face. “I know you too well,” he said, guilt lacing his voice, “I know what you’re thinking and everything you’re going to do, so I’m sure you got the job.”

Tears brimmed and spilled down my cheeks as he stammered, “Oh shit, dude, was I wrong? Fuck…” He scrambled for the half-empty tissue box, grabbing it from the coffee table with a look of sheer panic.

“No, dude, I got it. I’m literally the best person ever—of course, I got the job. I’ll be working as a court jester when my boss’s ideas get weird and dumb, and I’ll protect people and...and...I’m so excited,” I choked out through sobs, overwhelmed by the emotion of it all.

Michael’s eyes softened with understanding as he saw me, his emotional cousin/housemate, unraveling. “Yeah, okay, dude, let’s order Indian food. My treat,” he said, patting my shoulder in a gesture of comfort. We ordered our meal, and as we waited, I continued to spill my excitement.

After our meal, we said our goodnights and retreated to our separate rooms. I sat at my desk, the computer screen still aglow, and opened YouTube. Sonny Brisko was streaming, but a tight knot of unease formed in my stomach. The thought of soon meeting, and inevitably managing, the very streamers I’d admired made my heart sink. I shuddered at the fear that my enjoyment of their content might be forever changed by this new role.

Resolute, I typed “ASMR loud talking sleep” into the search bar, clicking on the ‘watched’ button to sift through my previously viewed videos. As I scrolled, I sought solace in the comforting hum of the ASMR, allowing myself to drift into the soothing familiarity of past favorites. Yet, even as I tried to escape into this sanctuary, a fleeting thought lingered: perhaps these people are even more extraordinary than I ever imagined.

Hello and welcome to the start of Mellz Plays Kingdom Hearts Re:CoM on the Playstation 2; Riku’s campaign

If you haven’t seen my thoughts on Sora’s story, why not start with Part 1? For the 5 of you who’ve been following along since then, welcome back! Check out the rest under the read more! I’m playing on standard difficulty so if I’m having a hard time, I just suck.

So we, as Riku wake up in the basement of Castle Oblivion. How did he get there? Sora just waltzed in like it was no big deal. Riku has to materialize in a cold basement and be woken up by the disembodied voice of an all too familiar bastard… Who has a new voice.

Thanks for the card, voice of Ansem, “Seeker of Darkness”. That ain’t him. It’s been almost 10 years and I don’t remember much of this game but I know that new Richard Epcar voice ain’t Ansem.

Riku’s got no time to waste, he’s a man on a mission.

So we get a melancholy scene with Riku happening upon the room Maleficent gave him during his association with her in the first game. Memories he’d rather forget.

After progressing a bit, the disembodied voice returns once again to taunt Riku. “You cast aside your home, your friends, the darkness. What else do you have? Nothing. Your heart is as empty as your old room.”

It’s so weird playing as Riku but I hope we get more of that beyond KH3 (ReMind hasn’t released at the time of writing this)

Alot of this game so far has been me saying “I don’t remember this”… …So I don’t remember Riku’s level up system being this different to Sora’s.

…well that’s bullshit. I vaguely remember that. The fact that I can’t even edit the order my cards appear to me in battle is even more bullshit. I like to organize my cards by type and value until I’m forced to use a different method.

So I dont have to wait for the reload gauge to count down, it’s immediate and I dont lose a card on every reload like I thought I remembered… What’s the catch? I don’t trust like that.

We meet up with Maleficent at the end of the map. She’s 100% aware she’s a figment of Riku’s memory. Riku is none too pleased to see her.

Riku’s ready to kick the asses of everyone corrupted by darkness, including his own, he says. Time for a dragon fight because otherwise Maleficent isn’t a threat apparently lmao. I don’t think the mcguffen card even showed up.

Ooh first scene with the boys in the dark room. “Don’t I even warrant a hello, Lexaeus?” I don’t remember seeing this as funny before but now, like 10 years later I appreciate how funny it truly is. Zexion sounds so insulted.. Lexaeus is a man of few words. Then Vexen shows up and he’s getting right down to business. Zexion’s like “Nice to see you too. We all used to be so close, what happened?”

Vexen’s all offended about that and gets pissy about “rank this, rank that, ooh I’m number 4, you shrimpy child.” as if your number indicated rank. Xigbar is the 2nd member but Xemnas’s 2nd in command is Saix (from my understanding) so sit your ass down, Vex.

So Zexion’s special talent? He smells people.

Riku smells people too?. Oh ok he can smell the darkness in his skin. Take a shower! …When was the last time he even got the opportunity?

Mickey appears before him and tells him some words of encouragement. He’s transparent because he can’t fully manifest in the castle right now. So where’s the other 50% opacity hanging out at?

Let’s go to Neverland first yay. I did a team attack with Mickey. I remember that!

Imagine being in Riku’s stupid, dumb, giant, anime boy shoes… addressing a giant, bipedal mouse as “Your Majesty”……….. Actually my sister and I used to do that back in the day when we both were obsessed with the series. Regardless of context we’d call him “King Mickey”. It makes me cringe thinking back on it.

Oh I was gonna try to challenge myself to avoid using the dark power but I guess I dont have a choice but to use it. Might as well put points into it if that’s the case.

uses Key to Beginnings, is immediately thrown into a battle with Captain Hook oh I guess we’re not focusing on any events in these worlds they’re literally just to pad out Riku’s story. Riku is officially less Disney than Sora.

How does Zexy know who Riku is? “Riku is here because Sora is here”. Vex that makes zero sense. What else is new?

Agrabah. Uneventful. Riku is not good at hitting small targets. Had a hell of a time fighting Jafar, or rather beating Iago to a pulp, in comparison to playing as Sora.

Next scene, and immediately like NO breath between the fade in and the scene itself, Vexen appears. And in even less time after he appears, “I take it you’re Riku?” This mofo has no time to waste. He’s a busy man.

Riku’s already tired of his bullshit and is ready to FIGHT. Same, Riku. Same.

I had him stun locked during most of this battle.

I JUST LOVE RIKU’S COMPLETE LACK OF FUCKS GIVEN HE’LL BEAT VEXEN’S SHIELD WITH HIS FISTS AND POMMEL

Vexen is a fucking twerp. And seems alot more crazy, mad scientist-y when interacting with Riku than Sora. Emphasis on “mad”. He cray

Why do they hang out in the dark? I mean, why no lamps? All I can imagine is them hanging out and barely able to actually see each other. The only way anyone knows who’s there is because Zexion can smell people, everyone else just assumes Lexaeus is there, Vexen won’t shut up about something something science, and Axel likes to hear himself talk.

Zexion and Lexaeus are talking about what’s going on,  I’m still not sure what they’re doing here. Like, do they want Sora for the Organization? But Marluxia wants Sora as his personal puppet? What about Roxas? Isn’t he like, in a coma or something? Just kill Sora, Roxas will wake up, and SOMEONE’S got a Keyblade wielder again. Lex says Vexen hates Marluxia and things with the replica could turn out disastrously because of it. What IS Vexen’s beef with Marly?

Ok I know it’s to pad out a second campaign but why does Riku go to SORA’S memory worlds? Unless Riku stalked him throughout the entirety of KH1, or had so visit them for darkness missions, and those are his memories as well? Idk, it doesn’t have to be explicitly stated

So at this point he’s aware hes a copy? Does he forget later? With Namine’s meddling? How does Vexen create a living, breathing entity out of battle data? Like, where did the body come from? Did he have it on standby for a while until the right moment?

“You’re afraid of the dark” Repliku states.. Lmao yeah, Riku- he still sleeps with a night light. Don’t tell Sora.

Repliku is like, a worse Riku as far as personality goes. The punk-ass bitch Riku from KH1 but worse. Repliku is quick to ditch the double pants with suspenders and ankle belts for a muscle suit and grass skirt. I’m not sure which one’s worse.

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! I got two level ups out of that!

I high key love Repliku’s laugh here when Riku tries to attacks him again RIGHT AFTER THEIR FIGHT. It’s adorable, hilarious, and creepy. GG David Gallagher! Check out that video if you want. [video]

Dutch angles make everything more dramatic. Unofficial rule no. 1 of cinema. Repliku peaces out and we give chase up another flight of stairs and another cutscene plays. Repliku joins Zexion, Lexaeus, and Vexen in the dark room and they talk about introducing him to Sora.

Riku finds himself alone on the next floor, yelling at empty air. Ansem shows up to taunt Riku again. This dude just doesn’t quit. God forbid he learns no means go the fuck away.

Oh hey we’re in Atlantica! Maybe Riku can wash that darkness smell off his skin. Oh wait the water doesn’t really exist. And hes just a human, not swimming like a mermaid. Give me mer-Riku, you cowards. Twiggy mer-Sora is funny, twiggy mer-Riku with buff arms would be HYSTERICAL. I had a difficult time with Ursula because poor card management and I’m avoiding battles to get this game over with, which kinda shoots me in the foot as I’m not leveling up.

Yeah I was right, he ends up thinking HE’S Riku. I honestly feel bad for the guy… he’s so scared and betrayed. I know I was shit talking him just a bit ago but I need to protect Repliku. [video]

Kingdom Hearts AU or not possible?

I say that no AU is impossible. 

With that said though...I’ve never TOUCHED a Kingdom Hearts game. I know the basic premise and the infamous scenes and few of the plot twists but...being a Nintendo child and owning like NO Sony game systems has pretty much screwed me over for this. 

I’m thankful that people have pointed out that you don’t have to play ALL the games in order to get the whole plot but even so, I’m kinda stuck and I haven’t looked up playthroughs because I DO want to play and get into this series (I gotta get my BF to let me play KH1 at his place, he said he would >:/ )

But enough of that, let’s get the basics out of the way. Character-wise, I’m torn between Sonny or Usnavi for Sora, since he, according to ALL sources, is the most precious fucking ball of sunshine to ever grace this green earth, so I think either one of them could work. Or they could split it :/ I could see Pete or Benny being Riku, mostly because having that hidden darkness shit could be interesting for both of them, which leaves Nina or Vanessa as Kairi. And hey, if we gotta pick one or the other for these, that means the rest could be Terra, Ventus, and Aqua, and I’m gonna stop there so I don’t give myself a headache thinking about how these guys end up as the story goes on. Ironically, Xehanort is the easy one; evil villain = OC in ITH AU land.

As for the rest of the Disney characters and worlds, I’m thinking we could make those different Broadway shows. Like one world is going through 1700s America in Hamilton, another could be 1930s New York in King Kong. I mean heck, Frozen and Aladdin are Broadway shows right now so we could totally add them in too! We could just go wild just like the plots of these games XD

I’ll leave it there for now. If any KH experts wanna take a crack at this, be my guest, but until then, I wanna experience these games myself so I’ll just have to wait :/

I was watching Big Daddy a little while back, and I thought ‘this would be a perfect Eiri and Riku Gravitation Ex AU.’

Let’s face it: Eiri would be an absolute disaster of a dad, especially if he had to do it alone. And so much of this movie would be damn perfect for these two.

movie opens with katsumi being like ah shit im stuck,

goes to narration “i’m minato katsumi and if u wanna know what happened we have to start with yesterday, its been one year since kaiju stopped appearing in ayaka city”

more introduction stuff, isamis still doing nerd shit that katsumi doest understand, dads same as always, asahis studying to become a nurse and mom’s taken over aizen tech i think. over the past year everyone’s taken big steps forwards. but then katsunii thinks about himself and kinda goes “.....”

girl from farewell icraus episode shows up again. shes here to talk to isami, apparently hes been invited to a study abroad program. katsu didnt know about this but like everybody else did

isamis worried about leaving katsumi to protect ayaka all by himself but katsu encourages him to go pursue his dream, and isami is finally convinced that its really ok. before he goes off, he tells katsu that its ok for katsu to follow his own dreams now too and katsus like “....my dream?”

back at home hes like. what the hecks my dream. i guess i could become a businessman? fishmonger? pet groomer?? while hes doing this he doodles this like weird cat... fish thing and dad sees it and is like  OHO and katsu is like JFHDSKG DAD NO GIVE IT BACK

they accidentally knock down some of katsus high school baseball memoribilia and he sees a baseball with the word dream written on it

flashback time with toi. he says that he heard that katsus decided not to go to college even tho he got a lot of schools scouting him, and katsus like, yeah, i cant leave dad to manage the store all by himself. toi’s planning to become a game developer because he wants to make kids smile and stuff like that. he gives katsu the ball with dream written on it and waves bye. flashback over

the next day katsu decides to visit toi and finds out that toi quit the game company because they just made him do menial jobs which isnt what he wanted, he wanted to do something that only he could do. katsus like.... youve changed a lot. and toi says that honestly katsus lucky, he inherited his dads shop and is handsome to boot, anything he wanted he could get (i swear im not making this up) and katsu brings up that well, he doesnt have a dream tho

tois mom comes up, small talk nothing too important. after she leaves katsu shows toi the ball and tois like LOL that shitty thing? put it away, its embarrassing and katsus no!! you were aglow with enthusiasm whyd you let go of ur dream. toi interrupts by pointing out that katsu let go of his dream too, and he then leaves

call from dad its an EMERGENCY aparently

back to toi. hand comes out of his moniter and voice goes “i know what you want to say you want to fight(i think?)” basically hes here to fulfill toi’s dreams

alright back to the minatos. its basically a comedy moment theyre doing like secret agent roleplay or smth but, as kasumi points out, for some reason theyre all Eagle 1 and only about 3 ft apart in broad daylight. they see asahi in the distance talking to somebody and theyre like !!!!!, the mystery dude leans in and theyre at an angle where it looks like hes going for a kiss and they all screech “AAAAAA SECOND BASE?!?! NO??” sprint over there like WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS TOWARDS ASAHI. asahis like o hey guys whats up. and dads “listen. we love and respect you but also youre our baby and u cant do this yet.”

mystery person is riku. he just met asahi here, and hes looking for a shadow. (dad: UHUH I BET YOU ARE, SONNY)

monsters appear. the bros are like alrighty its been a while, lets go, dad take care of asahi. really funny scene where the bros and riku like. immediately out themselves as ultraman but like. fail to notice.

after transofrming they notice geed and are like ???WHO?? (isami: oh jeez he looks scary- katsu: don’t point! its rude! riku: ah, no, dont mind me)

(2) begin headache: yuki uses an onomatopoeic word for crisp/dry, but it can also mean someone who doesn't get bogged down/is refreshing. casually inserts both meanings 4 emphasis/representation i guess. BUT THE MOMO PLAYS OFF OF THE "DRY" meaning and.............
