I’ve been trying to understand the gun rights arguments. I get that “its in the constitution,” although there’s nothing in the constitution that would bar restricting gun rights without banning them totally. 

Unfortunately, most of the arguments feel like: “Liberals are all poopy heads.”

From outright lies (”The bulk of all mass shootings have happened under Obama”) to unrelated stuff (Democrats hate God) to just goofiness (a president with three names?), there isn’t much here to sink one’s teeth into. 

I feel two arguments, that are somewhat related: 

There isn’t a problem.

It isn’t my problem. 

and when people won’t engage for positive problem solving, there can be no discussion and one side needs to unilaterally solve it for everybody.

This is a sampling of comments on a Politico article that will make permanent the Hyde Amendment, a provision that was passed in September of 1976 as a "rider" on the Medicaid bill that prevents federal tax dollars to be used for abortion. It has been added to the Medicaid budget every year since. That means that every year since 1976, no federal tax dollars have ever been used to fund abortions. The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act will make that permanent unless repealed later down the line. All of this is mentioned in the Politico article. Nonetheless, the overwhelming commenter response was severely anti-choice, hateful, slut-shaming, racist, ignorant, and anti-woman:
