Remembering Rick Parfitt, rhythm guitarist, songwriter and vocalist with Status Quo, who passed away December 24th, 2016, aged 68.

The top video is a great front-row perspective with a closeup focus on Rick's playing, in which he gives a masterclass on rhythm guitar, and shows that Quo's music was never a simple sequence of the same few chords.

It's interesting also to note that Rick's guitars were strung so tightly that the guitar techs referred to the strings as 'tram tracks', so, over and above Rick's undoubted talents, to keep this level of work up for two hours a night took a huge amount of discipline and stamina...even so it must have been knackering...
