Once Upon a Pixar (2026)
Hello. It's me, and this is the Pixar version of Once Upon a Studio called Once Upon a Pixar.
(The film opens with the headquarters at Pixar as the employees leave for the day.)
Pixar Intern: It's so incredible to think that George Lucas started Pixar back in 1979 until it was founded by Steve Jobs in 1986 40 years ago today. To think of all those talented animators and unforgettable characters who have been a part of the studio over the years.
Pete Docter: Yep. (as he and the intern turn around one last time) If the characters could talk to each other.
(Pete Docter and the intern leave as the door closes while the title comes up: "Once Upon a Pixar". The camera zooms into a photo picture of Woody, Jessie and Bullseye running on a record player. Woody glances back as everything seems quiet in the lobby.)
Woody: Psst! Atta. Princess Atta. You there?
(Princess Atta flies into the lobby and over to his picture.)
Woody: Is that it? They all gone?
Princess Atta: Yep, they're all gone.
Woody: Yee-haw! (he, Jessie and Bullseye leap out of the picture) Come on, Jessie, this is it.
Jessie: Let's get everyone. Yodel-ay-hee-hoo!
Joy: (gasps) There's the signal! All right, everyone! (she, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust jump out of their production cell) It's picture time!
Elio: That's tonight?
Joy: That's now.
Ember Lumen: The 40-year group photo. (she and Wade jump out of their production cell as well) And the sun's going down. Come on, Wade, let's feel the burn!
Wade: Ooh, a fire pun. (chuckles) Got to like that.
(Suddenly, Arlo and Spot come out of their production cell as Wade gasps and goes against the wall.)
Arlo: (chuckles nervously) Sorry.
Woody: Picture time, gang!
Mei Lee: (chuckles) Okay, here we come!
(Mei Lee, Miriam, Abby, Priya and Tyler jump out of their production cell while they laugh.)
Abby: Wake up, everyone!
(The Oozma Kappa come out of their production cell as Squishy yells while Russell, Carl and Dug walk down the hallway.)
Russell: Whoa!
Dug: Awesome!
Russell: Oh, Mr. Lightyear! Get the folks upstairs!
Buzz Lightyear: Roger that, Russell. To infinity and beyond!
(Buzz Lightyear flies upstairs as Lightning McQueen drives happily down the hall with Mater.)
Mater: Yee-haw!
Merida: (jumps out of her production cell) It's picture time! (runs to the lobby) We're meeting at the lobby!
Flik: Okay! See you there!
(Miguel Rivera and Riley Andersen ride on Dim as Dim flies to the lobby.)
Miguel Rivera: (hollers)
(Francis gives a fun ride to Dash Parr.)
Dash Parr: Whoa! Higher! (laughs)
(Francis chuckles as Remy and Emile slide down the stairs as Luca Paguro lands on the floor and sighs as he catches Nemo.)
Nemo: Water.
Luca Paguro: (shudders and rushes to the counter)
P.T. Flea: No, no, no, there's no time for snacks!
Luca Paguro: Uh, Andy! A little help here?
Andy Davis: Oh, uh, let me see here. There we go, a nice bucket of water.
(Luca Paguro dunks Nemo to a bucket of water.)
Nemo: (grunts)
Linguini: (chuckles) Oh, waiter! There's a fish in the bucket! (laughs)
(Ernesto de la Cruz tries to get candy from the vending machine while he curses in Spanish as Mr. Incredible and Frozone walk down the hall.)
Mr. Incredible: Yikes! Do you think all the villains might catch up?
Frozone: Hmm. (freezes Syndrome in his frame) Not all.
Syndrome: (strains)
(Rex goes to the elevator with Imelda Rivera, Manticore, Ian, Barley and Laurel Lightfoot.)
Imelda Rivera: Going down?
Roz: Hold the elevator. I'm going to the lobby.
Rex: Huh? Oh, you've got to be joking.
(Joe Gardner hums to "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" while he draws Hector Rivera.)
Brook Ripple: Hey, black man. Shake a leg, will ya?
Joe Gardner: The leg won't make a difference, it's all in the wrist.
(Hector Rivera bursts out of the drawing as Joe Gardner shrieks in surprise.)
Hector Rivera: Ay! I haven't seen a fall like that since Spain. (fixes the chair) Oh! Much better.
(At the men's room, Hopper, 4*Town and Chef Skinner freshen up as Chef Skinner blows a kiss and chuckles. Suddenly, Tuck and Roll appear in front of his eyes, laughing, as Jessie opens the door.)
Jessie: Let's move it, gentlemen!
(While Lorenzo Paguro tries to free his wife Daniela Paguro from her picture, Giulia Marcovaldo walk with Buster, Mr. Mittens, Larry and Machivelli.)
Giulia Marcovaldo: Uh-huh. Meeting at the lobby. Don't eat the rats.
(Scud tries to eat Remy and Emile but Dante pops up and scares Scud away, thus saving the rats' lives. While Izzy and her team walk by, Mei Lee and her friends watch a cartoon on a TV.)
Izzy Hawthorne: Come on, everyone, you're gonna have nightmares.
(Zurg pops out of the TV and scares Mei Lee and her friends away, laughing. Back at the elevator, Roz makes it in time.)
Roz: Thanks very much for holding the elevator.
Rex: (groans)
Evelyn Deavor: I'm also going to the lobby as well.
Rex: Huh? Oh, come on!
(While M-O is being followed and annoyed by Dot, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson follow down the stairs, where Mr. Anderson is the one to drop his wallet and they laugh. Buster picks up the wallet and runs off with it.)
Mr. Anderson: Hey, Buster! Andy, get your dog!
(Woody follows up the stairs as he looks amused when he sees Underminer leading Colette Tatou with his hypnosis watch.)
Woody: Underminer? Underminer! You-- You stop that now, Underminer!
Rosie: Don't worry, Woody. (chuckles) I got this.
(Rosie hits Underminer offscreen unconsciously.)
Woody: Huh. (gasps) Wow.
(Woody looks up at photographs of John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich and Joe Ranft while he takes his hat off.)
Buzz Lightyear: Oh, Woody, where are you? We're at the lobby!
Woody: (chuckles) Got to go, but thanks. (puts his hat back on) On with the show.
(At the lobby, Woody rides on WALL-E with a fire extinguisher)
Woody: Yee-haw!
Mike Wazowski: Coast is clear, Sheriff.
Woody: Great! (holds the door open) Right this way, everybody.
(Sulley bumps into the door.)
Woody: Oh! Sulley, are you okay?
James P. Sullivan: (grunts) Never better, Eastwood. (accidentally trips the trash can)
Stinky Pete: I knew I'm surrounded by... (gets startled by Slim who rides on EVE) Idiots!
Slim: Tallyho! Whee! I'll show you the world! (laughs)
Woody: Oh, great, the ladder.
(Buzz sets the ladder while he hums.)
Mr. Dicker: Every time it gets hard. Money, money, money.
Woody: All right, everyone. Get-- Get together now. (to Tinny) Oh. After you, Tinny.
Emile: Oh. Pardon me.
Francis: (holds up a camera) Here's the camera, Lightyear.
Buzz Lightyear: (takes a camera and chuckles) Thanks, Francis. (climbs up the ladder)
Woody: Buzz, be careful!
Buzz Lightyear: (makes it to the top) All right, now where's the timer button?
Molt: Oh, oh! Three, two, one! (Randall Boggs grins)
(Buzz accidentally falls off while he screams and breaks the camera. As Buster walks to the broken camera, Buzz recognizes it.)
Andy Davis: Come on, Buster. (Buster runs back to Andy)
Buzz Lightyear: Huh? Oh, no. It's ruined.
Anger: Well, that was fun!
Sadness: Maybe we can try again in another forty years.
(The characters sigh disappointedly and are about to leave.)
Woody: Oh, no, no, wait. Come back. It-- It-- It'll be fine. It'll be...
(Just as the characters are about to leave, Randy Newman appears from nowhere while he plays "You've Got a Friend in Me" on piano with his orchestra.)

The Bromacker Fossil Project Part VII: Eudibamus cursoris, the Original Two-legged Runner
Holotype specimen of Eudibamus cursoris, the most complete bolosaurid reptile known. Photo by the author, 2013.
Stuart Sumida discovered some small bones in the Bromacker quarry in 1993, the same year that the holotype skeleton of Diadectes absitus was found. Dave Berman told me that when Stuart showed them to him, he couldn’t see anything because they were so small. Upon closer examination, Dave, Stuart, and Thomas Martens identified them as those of the captorhinomorph reptile Thuringothyris mahlendorffae. Thomas’ wife Stefani, whose maiden name is Mahlendorff, discovered the first specimen in the Bromacker in 1982, and Thomas and a colleague named it in her honor in a 1991 publication.
The fossil was exposed in several pieces of rock, which Thomas shipped to Carnegie Museum of Natural History (CMNH) along with the large block of rock containing Diadectes. I didn’t prepare the specimen until several years later, as other projects, including the Diadectes, overshadowed it. Once I began working on it, though, Dave and I realized that it was not Thuringothyris. Indeed, we had no idea what type of animal it was, and our puzzlement grew as I exposed more of it. The identity wasn’t revealed until I had uncovered some very unusual, tiny teeth, which under the high magnification of the preparation microscope appeared to have a bulbous cusp towering over a basin. They looked vaguely familiar to me, but because I couldn’t immediately put a name on them, I rushed to get Dave from his office. Once Dave saw the teeth, he realized that the specimen was a new genus and species in the rare, enigmatic reptile group Bolosauridae.
Tiny teeth of a bolosaurid reptile, Bolosaurus striatus, in lateral (side; left) and occlusal (chewing surface; right) views. The specimen is in the CMNH Vertebrate Paleontology collection. Photos by Spencer Lucas (Research Associate, CMNH).
Until the discovery of Eudibamus cursoris, bolosaurids were represented in the fossil record by two genera, Bolosaurus and Belebey, which were based mainly on poorly preserved skull and fragmentary jaw fossils from Texas and Russia, respectively. Even though bolosaurids had been known since 1878, their relationship to other reptiles was not well understood. The nearly complete anatomy of Eudibamus allowed our team to determine that bolosaurids are the oldest member of the ancient group of reptiles called Parareptilia. This group has no living relatives, except possibly for turtles, a hypothesis that is highly debated by scientists.
Closeup of front and hind legs of Eudibamus. The hind leg, folded upon itself, is considerably longer than the front leg. Photo by the author, 2013.
When our study of the fossil began, we realized that Eudibamus was very different than other reptiles from that time. Proportions of the limbs and positions of the articulation surfaces on the upper and lower hind leg bones indicated that, in terms of posture, Eudibamus resembled a bow-legged human with a bad back instead of a typical sprawling reptile on four legs. It could stand and locomote on its hind legs in an upright posture (bipedal) with its legs held close together and in the same plane (parasagittal).
Dave was in constant phone communication with team member Dr. Robert Reisz (Professor, University of Toronto at Mississauga). One day Robert called Dave to ask if all the tail had been exposed, because he learned that modern lizards that are able to run bipedally have a long tail to help maintain their balance. The specimen was in Dave’s office and he immediately uncovered more of the tail and then let me finish the task. The tail was indeed very long and extended close to the edge of the block, which I had previously reduced in size. Additionally, we determined that the third, fourth, and fifth toes of the hind foot also were greatly elongated through lengthening of some of the individual toe bones, and that the first and second toes were extremely shortened by the reduction in size of individual toe bones. We hypothesized that when Eudibamus ran bipedally, it would rise on its toes, so that only the tips of the third, fourth, and fifth toes would contact the ground.
Drawing of the hind leg of Eudibamus cursoris (left) and the roughly contemporaneous reptile Captorhinus (right). Leg drawings are scaled to the same torso length of the whole animal. Illustrations of the animals are not to scale. Hind leg drawings are modified from Berman et al., 2000 and animal illustrations are from Wikimedia Commons.
Eudibamus occurred at least 60 million years before other bipedal, parasagittally-running reptiles appeared in the fossil record. This is reflected in its scientific name, which is derived from the Greek “eu,” meaning original or primitive, and “dibamos,” meaning on two legs. “Cursoris” is Latin, meaning runner. Examples of other reptiles using this locomotion mode are the dinosaurs Allosaurus fragilis and Tyrannosaurus rex, which you can view in CMNH’s Dinosaurs in Their Time exhibition.
So, what was the advantage of being able to run bipedally instead of running on all four legs? Lengthening the hind leg and foot would greatly increase stride length, especially if only the tips of the toes contacted the ground, which is an efficient way to increase speed. Eliminating arm to ground contact while running removes forelimbs from the path of the long-striding hind legs. The bulbous teeth and jaw structure of Eudibamusindicate that it was herbivorous. It seems likely, then, that Eudibamus used its ability to sprint to avoid becoming a tasty meal for a pursuing predator.
Peter Mildner (exhibit preparator at the Museum der Natur, Gotha) made a surprise visit to the Bromacker one afternoon to show us a model of Eudibamus cursoris he’d made. This image shows the model in the present day Bromacker quarry, part of the region it inhabited 290 million years ago. Photo by the author, 2006.
One of our laments is that a fossil trackway preserving Eudibamus walking quadrupedally and then switching to a bipedal gait has yet to be found.
Next time you are at CMNH, make sure you see the cast of the fossil skeleton and a model of Eudibamus that are exhibited in the Fossil Frontiers display case in CMNH’s Dinosaurs in Their Time exhibition. Stay tuned for my next post, which will feature the herbivorous mammal-like reptile Martensius bromackerensis.
For those of you who would like to learn more about Eudibamus, here is a link to the 2000 Science publication in which it was described: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/290/5493/969.

Songwriting H.W.: Alex Berman Format: Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus Song Info/Credits: Written, produced, and performed by Rex Orange County (a.k.a. Alex O’Connor) and it’s Rex Orange County’s single “Sunflower.” Arrangement: The electric guitar is amplified throughout the song over a soft drumbeat. The song also features a saxophone solo toward the end of the song. Lyrical Notes: Rex utilizes assonance throughout the entire song. For example, in the First verse, he says “you don’t have to feel this emptiness” (rhyming the “e” vowel) and “I love you till the day that I die” (rhyming the “i” vowel). Throughout the song, Rex uses a sunflower to metaphorically describe the love that he has for his girlfriend. Although sunflowers need sun to grow, he basically says that even at night when the sun is down, his love for her proceeds to grow. Opinion: I personally love the songwriting and upbeat blend of instrumentation and mellow vocals. The sunflower metaphor expresses Rex’s pure and everlasting love for his girlfriend, and I thought that was a unique way to portray those feelings and emotions. The way Rex’s voice is muted in the intro over simple chords of electric guitar and a soft drumbeat and then transitions into the first verse with more open and clear vocals over a louder drumbeat and electric guitar works so perfectly. Production Moves: A hi hat is used in the intro of the song to create a mellow beat. In the chorus, trumpets are incorporated into the song to brighten it up even more. The saxophone solo toward the end of the song also adds to the jazzy vibe of the song. Overall, the brass blend that Rex incorporates into the song makes it a very joyful and optimistic song. Songwriting Success: The bridge is unique in that it is a speaking part as opposed to him singing. It adds to the authenticity of the song and what he is saying. Also, in part of the chorus, Rex uses a doo-wop lyricism, which contributes to the catchiness of the song. The song is very well-organized as well; after the saxophone solo toward the end, the chorus comes back in and it flows very smoothly.

Inside ESPN’s Super Bowl Coverage: From Rex Ryan and Odell Beckham Jr, to the Patriots and Politics
The NFL’s biggest game of the year has long graduated from being Super Bowl Sunday to Super Bowl Week. While ESPN won’t be airing the matchup between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons (that honor goes to Fox this year), they do dominate coverage running up to the 3:30 p.m. kick-off Feb. 5, and post-game analysis the days after it. And there’s a lot more to it than debating whether…

Community Voice Response: Dec. 10, 2019
From the Nov.15 Numismatic News E-NewsLetter
Do you collect medals in addition to coins? If so, what types? If not, why?
Here are some answers sent in from our E-Newsletter readers.
Rarely would I collect medals.
Mark Cooper Address Withheld
Yes, I collect silver medals as of six months ago to go along with my world coins books I’ve made up. I have three that are from Italy which are mid-1800s I believe, basically Papal States (popes). Why do I collect them? I don’t know, lol. I like that they’re old, silver and beautiful to look at.
Montague Bakasy Address Withheld
I can honestly say that I’ve never seriously considered medals. But at the same time, I have limited resources so I have to choose whether I want to spend my money on coins (which I am already interested in), or on medals, which I don’t currently collect but am interested in.
None of the coin stores in my area stock a selection of medals, so it’s difficult for a new person who is interested to really know where to start or see what is available. Some websites such as eBay and the major auction houses are useful for reviewing what’s out there and selling. I refer to websites such as Numismatic News, CoinWeek, or Coin World, which occasionally provide interesting articles on medals, but it’s still hard to know where to start with a collection. Also, at least for me, there seem to be few local resources such as mentors or other collectors who I can talk with about collecting medals.
Matthew Kable Address Withheld
I collect all types of numismatic items, including medals. I basically collect medals that were struck for a reason or place I can relate to or have lived. Specifically, I collect items such as Assay Commission medals and Lesher dollars.
Gary Lewis Cape Coral, Fla.
I collect medals that go along with classic commemoratives such as the 1893 Columbian Exposition, 1901 Pan Am and the 1915 Pan-Pac Expos.
I also collect the occasional medal that catches my eye on a historical or artistic subject. I do not collect sets or modern arts medals. Some of these are pretty but way overpriced.
In foreign coins, I collect a few coronation or historic events medals that are artistically done and reasonably priced.
Rich Vatovec Trussville, Ala.
Yes, I do collect medals also. I collect Fairfield County Connecticut and Monarch who did not issue coins.
Allen Berman Fairfield, Conn.
I collect medals as a dealer, not a collector. I collect original silver Indian Peace medals and rare Civil War and earlier military campaign medals and awards.
Rex Stark Gardner, Mass.
Yes, I love to collect exonumia, including Civil War tokens, Hard Times tokens, and so-called dollars and medals. I think it enhances my collecting experience because of the history usually associated with these pieces.
I usually collect medals that commemorate a historical event or person and have a beautiful design. Truly, one benefit of collecting medals is the vignettes and designs. Since they are usually larger in size, there is more room for intricate and bold designs on the pieces.
Richard Tritz San Diego, Calif.
While I do own some U.S. coins, I collect U.S. exonumia generally and medals specifically. I prefer medals to coins because I find that, by and large, they are far more varied and interesting than coins.
It also appeals to me that many individual medals are far more likely to have been actually handled by famous individuals than individual coins are.
For instance, the Indian chief’s photographed wearing Peace medals or numismatists such as Farran Zerbe, well-known as a medal maker in his own right, and Thomas Elder whose medals continue to charm and offend (see Delory) to this day, and of course Benjamin Franklin, whose medallic design of the Comitia Americana medal one hopes is for the ages.
A. Kim Address withheld
I do collect so-called dollars in addition to coins. Their size (similar to a silver dollar) is substantial enough to capture details. The variety and rarity of medals are so much greater than that of true coins. It is a challenge to hunt and find SCDs, yet the costs are a mere fraction of similar-rarity, regular-issue items. I especially enjoy medals from the World’s Fairs held in the United States. These are well known and cataloged among so-called dollars. Medals from the 1892 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago are relatively plentiful and affordable. Take a detour from the U.S. Mint. Investigate so-called dollars!
Jim Chudd Fort Collins, Colo.
I collect all kinds. Right now I have some Presidential, Apollo 11,12 and 13, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and others. I have a catalog on medals but from 1991. I hope to collect more.
Jim Casto Houston, Texas
I collect some medals which meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. Commemorating a historical person or event of significance to me
2. Of exceptional artistic merit
3. Of historical importance in and of itself (e.g. Lusitania medal)
4. Having a close connection to my other numismatic interest (e.g. British coronation medals)
Additionally, it must meet the criterion of economic viability, i.e., costing relatively little in respect to my perception of its “true” value
Jack Lloyd Panama City, Fla.
I started collecting medals about 10 years ago, being impressed by the artistic quality of the designs and engraving. I am particularly fond of French and Belgian medals from the period 1900-1950.
Martin Mettee Ellicott City, Md.
I collect medals and medallions dealing with “outer space” and astronomy, which are my intense interests.
Greg Gonia Franklin, Wis.
I have never really been interested in collecting medals as much as I do U.S. coins, which I’ve been collecting for over 25 years since I was a teenager.
Emil Bley Catonsville, Md.
I only collect medals that happen to come my way.
David Wyndoze via Facebook
I like European art medals. I collect most Art Nouveau with female figures.
Wayne Aldrich via Facebook

(http://www.MaritimeCyprus.com) State-owned Turkish bank Halkbank has been criminally charged in an indictment for involvement in a multibillion-dollar scheme to evade U.S. sanctions against Iran.
Prosecutors in New York on October 15 alleged the bank had protection from high-level Iranian and Turkish government officials as it engaged in widespread fraud and money laundering using a vast, complex network of front companies to help Tehran shift billions of dollars in oil revenue illegally.
Senior Halkbank management’s participated “in this brazen scheme to circumvent our nation’s Iran sanctions regime,” U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement.
Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers said the scheme was one of the most serious violations of Iranian sanctions his office has seen.
Prosecutors in particular said that between 2012 and 2016, the Turkish bank enabled Iran to spend proceeds from oil and gas sales on international markets in violation of U.S. sanctions.
The charges mirror those that one of Halkbank’s former executives, Mehmet Hakan Atilla, faced and who was found guilty and sentenced to prison last year.
A star witness in the case was Turkish gold trader Reza Zarrab, who said he had helped Iran access funds from overseas oil sales that were frozen in foreign accounts.
After he was taken into custody in 2016, Zarrab included Rudy Giuliani, U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, to his legal team.
In that capacity, Giuliani tried to get Zarrab exchanged for an American pastor, Andrew Brunson, who was being held in Turkey.
He also in 2017 urged Trump to ask then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to have the Justice Department drop its case against Zarrab, Bloomberg News reported last week.
Giuliani, a former New York mayor and prosecutor, subsequently has said his role as Zarrab’s lawyer was ethical and legal.
