#Revali is just here because I like to imagine if Link talked the two of them would have excellent banter

Incorrect Quotes of the Kingdom Pt. 2
Link: I'm never donating blood again. The second you walk through the door, it’s just one invasive question after another! ‘Where did you get it?’ 'Why is it in a bucket?’ I mean... do you want it or not?
——————
Revali: Any idiot would know that.
Link: I knew that!
Revali: See?
——————
Revali: Could you be any more annoying?
Link: Definitely.
——————
Purah: Ew, what kind of tea is this?
Link *sipping tea cup with pinky in the air*: I boiled Gatorade.
——————
Link: Ok so, apparently the "bad vibes" I've been feeling are actually severe psychological distress.
——————
Tulin: I’ve become a bread crumb dealer to four crows at the lake. They pay me with a bit of everything. Like shiny things, fabric, or pens. But recently they paid me with a 20 dollar bill they found somewhere. So I decided to buy them some more expensive bread. They loved it. So they understand what to do. Give me money. I’ve probably racked up about 200 dollars at this point. Is it morally wrong though, I mean. They’re the ones who steal the money from others. Or perhaps they just have a big pile laying somewhere. Should I keep on doing this?
Riju: You sound like the start of a Batman villain.
——————
Zelda: What are you two arguing about this time?
Purah: They're always using common phrases incorrectly!
Link: Cry me a table.
——————
Link: Fight me!
Ganondorf: Ha, look at your size! What are you gonna do, kick my ankle?
*Later*
Ghost Sonia: Why is Ganondorf crying?
Ghost Rauru: Link kicked them really hard in the ankle.
——————
Zelda: Please could you go to the shop and get a carton of milk, if they have avocados get six.
Link *coming back from the store with six cartons of milk*: They had avacados!
——————
Link: Rauru, I screwed up big time.
Rauru: Link, given your daily life experiences, you’re gonna have to be more specific.
——————
Link:  *About to do something incredibly stupid*
The sages: I know I can't stop you, but I won't let you go by yourself.
——————
Sonia:  I have been tricked, I have been backstabbed, and I have quite possibly been bamboozled.
——————
Purah: According to the footage here, you shook the vending machine and when the shake alarm went off, you punched the glass and broke it.
Link: ... I was hungry.
——————
Sonia: Not gonna lie, I'm kind of afraid of Link...
Rauru: As you should be.
Sonia: No, for real. They're kind of-
Rauru: As. You. Should. Be.
——————
Ganondorf: Life is like Link. It's short.
——————
Link: Don't worry, I have a few knives up my sleeve.
Yunobo: I think you mean cards.
Tulin: He did not.
Link *pulling out knives*: I did not.
——————
Link: The risk I took was calculated, but man am I bad at math.
——————
Link:  Like they say, "If you can't beat them, curl up in a ball and protect your organs."
——————
Purah: When will Ted himself...finally show up to the talk?
Tulin: The final boss.
Riju: You guys know TEDtalks stands for technology, entertainment, and design talks, right?
Link: I will not let Ted hide behind these lies any longer!
——————
Link: Yum, thanks!
Ganondorf *puts more tape over Link's mouth*: I said, stop eating it.
——————
Purah: Didn't you die?!
Link: That was weeks ago. Things change.
——————
Purah: Wake me up...
Tulin: Before ya go go
Zelda: When September ends
Link: WAKE ME UP INSIDE
——————
Sidon: What if mayonnaise came in cans?
Link: That would suck because you can't microwave metal.
Riju: Good morning to everyone except these two people.
——————
Ganondorf: I've been expecting you, Link.
Link: How did you do that without turning around?
Ganondorf:  Let's just say the first few people I did that to were not you.

Bored with nothing to do so I’m requesting streamer au again 😕🏃🏻‍♀️🤙
ask and ye shall receive ☝️😌✨ i mentioned in the tags that the last time i posted about streamer au that i wanna write the champions going to twitchcon and sharing an airbnb together sooo 👹
i'm actually not too sure how to incorporate the location of twitchcon into this au, because (1) i've never been to twitchcon actually KJDJFKKJS and (2) it depends on whether or not hyrule is divorced from the u.s. & the rest of human society e.g. a universe where hyrule is the country analogous to the u.s.... for purposes of this au, i've been kind of writing hyrule as a city that all the champions live in, so maybe it can be somewhere in the u.s.? what state does the city of hyrule give LOL
reading the wikipedia about twitchcon tells me that most of the cons have been held in san diego, CA so all the champions fly there together for the con, and could you just imagine them at an airport 😭 like you know those tiktoks of people either traveling with their family or their friend group and in each case there's always like the dad/dad-friend who's in charge of everything, from being there super early to holding all the passports, etc? because i can totally see daruk being that guy HAHAHKDJHFDKJ
outside of being a streamer, daruk is a dad irl and the oldest of the champs so he quite literally sees all of them as his kiddos 🥹 the flight will be at like 5pm but daruk insists on being there at the airport at 9am, he'd write labels on each of the champions' luggage with their contact information, he would put all their plane tickets into a manila folder and keeps a death grip on it until they reach the desk for boarding 😭 the dad instinct has been Activated ✅ and then when they get on the plane, daruk gets his little travel neck pillow on and conks the fuck out once the plane takes off 😄
before i continue, here's the plane seating configuration i was thinking of in my head:
Tumblr media
most planes are usually three-seaters instead of two but for purposes of this ficlet idrgaf 🤞🤓 move along and get with the fantasy 🙏❤️
urbosa will just be chilling to herself (i have this image of her with earphones in and also knitting? no one knew that urbosa was a knitter including me), sidon is talking to zelda's manager impa, and mipha and zelda are talking and giggling to themselves bc they're gfs now <3 but link and revali? woof. these homos are totally going to be shyly holding hands on the plane the whole time, and then when they land, zelda will post a selfie of her looking extremely unamused on the plane next to mipha giggling, with link in the background looking at revali with wide eyes blushing while revali is holding up their intertwined hands to his lips.
in my head, this is gonna be set after the LOH show from the last streamer au ask, but before the date that revali had planned during the show. so throughout the entirety of the event, from the plane rides to and from twitchcon to the sitting together at their panel, revali and link have Hella Tension with each other. since the date that revali had planned during the LOH hasn't happened yet (they have a day in mind though hehe), they're both anticipating it and are also in this limbo stage of being exclusive but not really having an actual label on their relationship. all they know is they really enjoy each other's presence and perhaps they'd like to be around each other more often :>
but link is still insecure and still quite surprised that revali even returns his interest, that the date has been planned and is on an actual, real day and that revali wants to go out with him, and oh goddess revali wants to go out with him. it has him sitting tensely in his seat, nearly sweating because this has to be some sort of fever dream, right? revali, a streamer infamous for his rather arrogant, brutal words and attitude, who has had all the disparaging insults to say about link, and doesn't miss a single chance to rag on him. this couldn't have been the same revali who looked at him so fondly through the camera on the LOH stream, who has taken note of everything link says offhandedly, who sent him a heart in their discord dms (and revali never uses emojis). this has to be some elaborate prank on link and—
he feels a sharp tap on the side of his head, knocking him out of his downward spiral, and he looks up, rubbing his head and ready to bicker with zelda, but it isn't zelda who's hit him. revali stares down at him, one knee on the plane seat and his hands on the headrests in their row and in front of them.
"stop thinking so loud," revali says, before finally sitting in his seat properly. "it's painful to watch."
link scoffs and rolls his eyes. "any more painful than watching you fall in the xp farm while you were making it?"
"maybe don't hit me while i'm building next time and i won't fall in," revali snips back.
"you were wearing an elytra."
"and with what space, pray tell, could i have used to gain altitude? it's a vertical column, you absolute fool, the only way was down."
"and down you went, so i could take all your xp," link replies cheerfully.
revali rolls his eyes as he finishes settling into his seat. "and you'll still use all of that on the worst combination of enchantments possible." they both fall silent, the quiet din of voices around the plane their background noise.
"what were you thinking about?" revali then says quietly, suddenly. link glances at him and is surprised to find the other man staring at him with genuine concern. butterflies come to life in link's stomach, so he averts his eyes, down at his fidgeting hands in his lap. there was no eloquent way to phrase his worries about their date to revali, of all people.
"don't tell me you have flight anxiety now," revali murmurs. it sounds like it was meant to be a joke, but it misses its mark when link doesn't answer, fingers still fidgeting in his lap. "link?"
"i'm not worried about flying or the plane," link mutters. "i've traveled by air before plenty of times, it's not that."
"then what's got you all locked up like this?" revali replies, in the same quiet voice. link still doesn't say anything. "link..."
then, revali reaches for the blond's hand, smoothly intertwining their fingers and bringing it upwards, propping his elbow on the armrest between them. link's eyes widen, blinking, and he slowly moves his gaze from his lap to their intertwined fingers, and then to revali's face. he only stares back, a rather soft look in his eyes, and the butterflies in link's stomach burst to life again.
"you don't have to tell me if it's something personal," revali says, and his tone is so gentle, link thinks he's going to melt in his seat right there. is this the same revali who called him a fool less than a minute ago? "but don't bottle it all up or you'll end up exploding. it'll only make things worse and we wouldn't want that, would we?"
link stares at him with the same wide eyes for a moment longer, and then nods once slowly. "yeah, i guess you're right," he whispers, and after another second, he squeezes revali's hand softly. it seems to make revali's gaze soften even further, and he squeezes back.
"is there anything i can do to help?" revali murmurs. link blinks at him, and suddenly, it feels like the floodgates have opened and he can't stop himself from telling the truth.
"it's the date," link blurts aloud, his cheeks warming and turning pink. shit.
revali's head tilts to the side slightly. "the date?" he repeats. "the one we—?"
"yeah," link whispers. under revali's gaze, filled with such genuine concern, he feels shy again and he looks back down at the other hand in his lap. "it's just... i know we talked about it already, but it just doesn't feel real, like it's all some prank, you know?" he giggles nervously, his left leg beginning to bounce. "knowing you, i wouldn't put it past you to plan one as elaborate at this either, but even if it wasn't a prank, i can barely wrap my mind around that it's actually going to happen."
revali doesn't say anything for a couple moments, and it makes link more nervous, his leg bouncing a little faster, his heart pounding a little harder. please say something, he thinks to himself.
"you know," revali says finally, still in that ever so gentle tone, "we don't have to do the date." and link's heart drops to his stomach. "it was never something i was going to force on you, especially not on that pathetic joke of a show. don't feel like you have to go on a date with me to please your fans if it makes you uncomfortable—"
"no," link says, whipping his head to look at revali with wide, horrified eyes. "th-that's not what i was trying to say, i do want to go on the date with you." admitting it out loud makes link blush and he wants to melt into a puddle in revali's surprised green gaze, but he can't keep shying away. so link steels himself and maintains eye contact with revali, taking a breath before continuing. "i do want to. please trust me on that, i do. i'm just nervous about it because..." link swallows. "i like you, like a lot, and this date is like, confirming that you like me back and actually planning to go on it is insane, because i never thought you'd really return my feelings and what if you back out? because i'm not gonna stop you if you don't wanna go on the date anymore, but i want to go on it so bad 'cause—"
"hey," revali cuts him off, with a strangely soft voice. "breathe for me, darling."
link blinks and then lets go of a long breath he didn't know had accumulated in his lungs. revali nods reassuringly and squeezes his hand again. "one more time," he says in that same soft voice, so link does, breathing in deeply and releasing it slowly. he feels much calmer now.
but then, revali presses his lips to their intertwined fingers, to the back of link's hand. "i want to go on the date with you too," revali murmurs to the skin, and link nearly shivers. "and believe me, i won't be backing out unless you do, because i like you too." he tilts his head slightly to the side. "do you think i'd be so cruel to drag this out if i truly didn't want to go? if anything, i should be worrying about whether or not you want to go through with it since i was the one who planned and proposed it."
"well, sometimes you're too proud to admit you're uncomfortable when it's about being better than me," link mumbles. "i would have been doing us both a favor..."
"i'm not uncomfortable," revali says softly, reassuringly, "but it's good to know that i wouldn't have been the first to back out." he smirks a little, but the fond look in his eyes betrays him.
link's stomach erupts into yet another swarm of butterflies, but he tries to play it off and scoffs. "this isn't a competition, revali."
"perhaps i'll make it into one, if that's what'll get into your stupid little skull that i want to go out with you too." the blond blinks and suddenly, revali's lips are grazing the tip of link's oh-so-sensitive ear. "first to back out of the date loses," he murmurs, the vibrations of his voice tingling into the shell of it.
in an instant, a million thoughts race around inside of link's head, and at the same time, he can feel his face reddening and dripping off of his skull like lava. his mouth drops and his eyes bulge out of his head, but no words come out as revali gently takes the tip of his ear between his teeth, and link all but short circuits—
"boys, i hope you're behaving yourselves back there," comes urbosa's voice. revali immediately pulls away and sits stiffly in his seat, hands in his lap, looking down. link blinks, missing the warmth though his face still burned, eyes still wide staring at revali, whose cheeks were beginning to match link's. "we have a fairly lengthy flight ahead of us, and i would hate to have to deal with you two causing any sort of trouble."
"like what, joining the mile high club?" zelda snickers across the way, only for mipha to gasp in shock, the both of them erupting into giggles.
link rolls his eyes and he catches revali's jaw tense, but the other man doesn't move from his position. letting out a breath through his nose, link sits back in his seat and looks out the window, watching the ground crew scurrying around and preparing the plane for flight. he's glad to have gotten reassurance and confirmation of their relationship now, at the very least.
but then, he feels revali's fingers slip back into his hand, warm and firm against his palm. link looks back, but revali isn't looking at him, his cheeks perhaps a couple shades darker than when he last looked. the blond just smiles and squeezes his hand, looking back out the plane window as the pilot announces readying for departure in the speakers above. revali squeezes back, and their hands stay intertwined for the rest of the flight.
TEHE THEY'RE IDIOTS IN LOVE. the ground crew are the koroks btw they flew on Great Deku Airlines 🙏 zel n miph definitely take pics of revalink holding hands and also when they fall asleep, link's head on revali's shoulder and revali's head leaning on link's... when urbosa wakes them up during landing, link only groans and tries to curl up closer to revali's side, mumbling about having another five minutes and urbosa is recording the whole thing for the champions vlog later 😹 when they get off the plane, revali is grumpy and glaring down anyone who tries to talk to him, but he adjusts himself when link leans on him sleepily, clinging to his arm 🥺 even in the rental car, link's head falls on revali's shoulder again as he snoozes and revali just stares down the rest of the champions, daring them to say anything as his own cheeks color pink 😄
by the time they get to their airbnb, link has regained some consciousness, but he keeps his head on revali's shoulder blinking sleepily until revali gently taps at his thigh to tell him to get up. there are four rooms in the airbnb, so roomies get assigned as (daruk & sidon), (impa & urbosa), (mipha & zelda), and of course, (revali & link). everyone rolls their eyes when revali and link blush at getting assigned to each other, glancing shyly at each other before looking away 😄
after that, the group begins to explore the airbnb. "this is a very nice place," mipha says politely, running her hand along the wall decor. "however, i didn't expect so much winter-themed decor in midst of summer."
zelda shrugs, following after mipha. "this place is owned by a man named pondo, who appears to have an affinity for the season." they come across a pair of bowling shoes mounted on the wall, surprisingly shiny and clean. "among... other things."
revali rolls his eyes as he follows urbosa down the similarly wintry-themed hallway to the room him and link have been assigned (where did link even go?), rolling both of their luggages along. why is revali taking link's luggage with him, you may ask? it's not like anyone asked him to take link's stuff with him either 😹
urbosa stops before one of the doors nearer to the end of the hall, leaning against its threshold and cocking her head at it. "this one's yours," she says, somewhat amused. "behave yourselves. you might be sharing a room, but we're sharing a whole house."
revali's face flushes and burns like a forest fire. "we're not going to do anything like that," he mutters, unable to meet urbosa's gaze. "we're not even official yet."
"but you're officially holding hands in public," urbosa lilts, pushing herself off of the threshold. "so that's official enough."
he makes a face at her. "i bet you're not even going to tell mipha and zelda the same thing, will you?"
urbosa sighs. "i have to keep a closer eye on both of them, actually. those two are complete menaces now that they're official." she pats at revali's shoulder. "i'll leave you to unpack."
and so revali enters the room, beginning to unpack some of his things and leaving link's stuff by the foot of the bed. when he finishes up, he flops onto the bed, staring at the ceiling of their shared room.
their shared room... revali blinks and sits up as it truly settles in that he and link are going to share a room for the week they're here. oh gods. they're sharing a room for a week, and sharing this one bed in the room. well, revali could always offer to sleep on the couch or make link do it, but he thinks about the warmth of link's hand entwined with his, link's soft sleepy expression gazing back at him, link's unruly blond hair spilling like silk all over his skin and the pillow he's laying upon— revali shakes himself out of his reverie, desperately willing himself not to blush. he shouldn't think such things when they haven't even put a label on their relationship yet—
suddenly, the doorknob turns and clicks open, and in steps link, dripping wet and dressed in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. his modesty (is it modest if you're already wet and half-naked?) is protected with only a gentle one-handed grip to hold the towel together and with his free hand, link pushes his wet bangs up and over his head. oh goddesses. it's like everything is happening in slow motion. revali's lips part, his eyes widening, and he can't look away. he should, because that would be the logical, gentlemanly thing to do, but alas... the droplets of water sliding down the ridges of link's abs are rather... enthralling...
"um," link starts, "hi. i, um, forgot to bring clothes with me to the shower."
"the shower," revali repeats dumbly, and it takes his entire will to force his eyes upward to link's face instead of his very grabbable slim waist, or the v-line slipping under the towel. link's cheeks are tinged pink and his eyes are averted as he scratches at the back of his neck.
goddess, he's adorable, revali thinks immediately before catching himself. he can't say things like this when link is practically naked!
"yeah, i needed to refresh after the flight," link says, biting his lip.
"to refresh," revali repeats, blinking. it feels like his brain is melting and reforming and melting again into a searing hunk of unintelligible meat. he can't form a single coherent, logical thought right now, completely transfixed by the enticing droplets of water sliding down link's pretty throat. refresh... oh goddess, revali needs to get out of here right now. "right, okay, shit, sorry, i'll just—"
revali makes it out of their shared room and into the backyard of the house in record time. urbosa and impa are going over plans at the breakfast nook as he zooms by, beelining for the sliding glass door that leads to the back of the house, but not before urbosa can call out, "i told you to behave!"
revali could behave, alright. but it seemed like revali jr. was going to need a little more restraint.
KFDHUSKDJFHKSDJHFFKH WELL ANYWAYS. idiots to lovers is my favorite trope for these two, like they are the ultimate little freaks ever <3
after link gets his clothes on and revali jr. calms down, the champions have a shitty little dinner composed of various fast food places that were nearby 😹 idk the last time i stayed at an airbnb, i went to get mcdonalds with my cousin in the middle of the night and now it's like a core memory, so i'm passing it onto the champs. i do love me some fries and chicken nuggets though 🤍 impa is outside taking a call at the time, but i'm thinking ab daruk n urbosa with double double burgers and animal fries from in n out..... sidon n mipha with five (5) filet-o-fish sandwiches each 😭 zelda dipping fries into her sundae :] link absolutely would have gotten something from dennys, he's chaos incarnate returning to his homeland (dennys), and revali kind of gives me the vibes that he doesn't fw fast food at all LOL, so he just gets whatever link gets to make it easier on himself, but grumbles and blushes a little when urbosa smiles knowingly at him. hehe >:]
after dinner, they all slowly file off into their rooms to wash up and get ready for bed. there's two bathrooms with showers between the four bedrooms, so they divide the two between the guys and girls. revali takes his shower after sidon, and takes a much quicker one than he's happy with. he totally seems like the type of guy that has an intricate hair care ritual/routine and would hog the bathroom for more than an hour, but link still has to take his actual shower and y'all already know down baddd revali is for him 🤣
revali comes back to their shared bedroom, his hair wrapped up in a towel, dressed in pajama pants and a large plain shirt. link is flopped on the floor of the room as he scrolls through what revali assumes to be tiktok.
"shower's yours," revali says, walking around link and sitting on his side of the bed. he takes off the wrap and bends over to towel dry his hair. "why are you on the floor?"
"my clothes are dirty so i don't wanna get in the bed with them," link says, sitting up and staring at revali. "and i'm sharing with you. i would have thought you would complain if i was in bed with my dirty clothes."
revali fights the heat crawling up his neck and swallows. goddess, they're actually going to share the damn bed. "do whatever you want," he manages in a mumble, sitting back up and throwing his hair back, grabbing the brush he left on the nightstand. "that's... very considerate of you, though."
link hums, before jumping to his feet and taking his stuff with him to the bathroom. when the door shuts with a click, revali glances back at it before letting out a sigh. can he really make it through the night sharing the bed with this heavenly creature of a man that's become rather fond of in the last few weeks?
revali is finishing up with the last of his braid when link comes back from his shower, thankfully fully clothed this time, dressed similarly with pajama pants and a shirt. but instead of practically breaking down the door, link opens it slowly and peeks inside, meeting revali's eyes and neither of them looking away, for several moments.
"are you going to come in or will you stand there the rest of the night like a ghost?" revali says finally, breaking the stare and tying the end of the braid. the only light on in the room now is the lamp beside revali on the nightstand.
link finally opens the rest of the door and shuffles quietly inside, closing it behind him before sitting at the edge of the bed. when revali looks back up, link is looking down at his lap and fingers fidgeting again, like he was in the plane. it makes revali soften, recalling why link had been anxious then.
"getting cold feet?" he says, as softly as he can. link's head shoots up to look at him, eyes wide with terror like he was on the plane when revali suggested that they didn't have to go forward with the date.
"no," the blond answers immediately, but revali can see the way his lip trembles when he says it.
"i can sleep on the couch—" he begins to offer, but link quickly shakes his head and crawls onto the bed to properly sit on it.
"no, i want to—" he starts before cutting himself off. link's cheeks pinken. "i want to... i want to share the bed... with you..."
"you don't sound very confident," revali tries to joke, but his tone is still so unbearably gentle.
link shakes his head again, and this time when he looks at revali, his face is set in an adamant expression, his brows furrowed. "i do want to share the bed with you," he says. "i can. i swear. please trust me."
for some reason, it makes revali's heart skip a beat, but he just snorts and shakes his head before settling into the bed, turning the lamp on the nightstand off. "sure," he says, tugging the blanket underneath link up. "and if i wake up in the morning with you on the floor or on the couch, i'll definitely still believe you."
link wrinkles his nose at revali (cute, he thinks), and then follows after him under the blanket on his side of bed. revali sighs as he relaxes, lying on his back as he stares at the ceiling. link shuffles beside him onto his side, and revali can practically feel those wide blue eyes staring holes into the side of his face.
"want to take a picture?" revali mumbles, already feeling drowsy. the travel fatigue was starting to get to him. "it might last longer."
"sorry," link whispers. "you're just so... beautiful."
revali almost has the energy to blush. almost. "thanks," he says instead. he shuts his eyes, and listens to the sound of link's breathing beside him. they're both quiet for a while, until revali continues in a much quieter voice, "you are too." he swears he can hear link's breath catch as he lets sleep claim him.
and it's the best sleep he's ever had in his life. usually, revali wakes up at the crack of dawn, when the light is barely creeping over the horizon, no matter what time he slept. but when he wakes in the morning, the sun is already fully above the horizon and shining through the curtains. link is curled into his side, head on revali's shoulder and an arm thrown over his stomach, revali's own arms cradling link's body, keeping him close. the blond snores lightly, but sleeps like a rock atop revali. dimly, he realizes their legs are tangled together under the blanket, but he's warm and he's comfortable. revali closes his eyes; maybe staying in bed a little while longer like this wouldn't be so bad...
but that thought is cut short with urbosa knocking on the door to their room. "wake up, lovebirds, breakfast is ready!" she calls. "make sure you look decent before you get out here."
even closed, revali rolls his eyes and lets out a soft groan. link mumbles and shifts under his arms, trying to snuggle closer to revali, who dares not move an inch as the blond makes himself comfortable once more. only when link settles, still curled around him, does revali speak again, opening his eyes.
"i'm surprised you're not jumping out of bed for food," he says softly. "i'd have thought of you as a ravenous beast with an endless hunger, or perhaps a garbage disposal unit."
link hums at him. "comfy," he murmurs in response. "still sleepy too."
fortunately for revali, he's also still too drowsy for his heart rate to pick up and link hearing it. "a couple more minutes wouldn't hurt then," he replies, letting his eyes fall shut. "breakfast can wait."
they get a max of 7 minutes cuddling together under the blankets before zelda and mipha bust down the door together, saying they're taking too long and the food is going to get cold, and i don't care if you're being cute and gay and snuggly GET UP ALREADY!!! this time, link groans and throws the blanket over their heads, clinging to revali, but he sighs and decides it's time to actually wake up. after all, revali is well-acquainted with link's large diet and he needs to make sure the blond is always eating well, right? 😁😁 link will still be sleepily, grumpily clinging to revali's arm as they make their way to the dining room since he was so comfy in the bed, and only fully wakes up when the smell of food hits his nose 😹
a couple days later, the champs have their panel at twitchcon 👁️ i don't really care enough to write a whole scene about what the champs get asked, because it'll probably just be standard questions like, "what kind of group content do you guys have planned?" or "are you guys going to make a twitchcon vlog?" ("yes") or "zelda please marry me" ("security please get this person out of here") and i just am not feeling creative enough to write all that
HOWEVER. HOWEVER. revalink during the entire panel. ooughh. oughh man. they're sat together towards the center right of the panel table (from audience pov/stage center left), giggling and whispering to each other as questions are asked, chiming in here and there to crack jokes or answer as needed, stealing glances/side-eyes at each other whenever they can. they're so silly :3
at some point, The Question gets asked; "okay this one's for link and revali. have you guys gone on the date that revali planned from the love or host, or has this all been an elaborate ruse to make us all think you were dating?"
the question catches both link and revali off-guard, the both of them blinking dumbly at it. i mean, they were expecting to be asked a question about their relationship, seeing as it was a bit public and anyone could see it from their collab streams & videos, the way they bantered on twitter or in the comments of each other's instagram posts. they weren't subtle about it at all, but of course anything could be an act on the internet.
link's cheeks begin to pinken as he glances at revali, before turning back to the questioner to respond. "well, um, so—" and finally, the sound of link's voice makes revali's brain click back into place.
"have you any decorum?" he cuts the blond off smoothly. "it's not anyone's business how our relationship is going, actually. but if you desperately wish to know, then all you have to know is that it's plenty real and though we haven't gone on the date yet, it's planned and it's happening." revali looks at link, whose head is fully turned to look back at him, utterly flustered, eyes wide and cheeks fully flushed pink. his heart softens; cute.
suddenly, revali gets an idea. as subtle as he can, he reaches under the table and takes link's hand into his, sliding his fingers down the blond's palm before lacing their fingers together. if it's possible, link's eyes get even wider, his face even darker with blush, revali's heart practically melting even more from the look on his face. "link will not be seeing anyone for a while," revali says softly, but making sure the mic catches his voice as he keeps his eyes on link, "and he's very content with our current predicament.
a chorus of "awh"s and cheers rise from the crowd, while the rest of the champions groan or roll their eyes at the display. link gives revali a small smile and squeezes his hand. revali returns the smile with a fond look and squeezes back.
"i hope you guys know they're holding hands under the table right now," comes zelda's voice through the speakers, haughty and prim. the crowd screams and shouts and cheers even louder. "it's very rich of revali to complain about you not having any decorum and then continuing to have no decorum himself in public."
"oh shush, zelda, you're holding hands with mipha under the table too," urbosa replies. zelda shrieks in opposition, mipha bursts out laughing, the crowd gets louder, but link and revali are still staring at each other, still blushing, still holding hands stuck in their own world.
and of course, people were taking videos during the panel. the entire scene from question to zelda's shrieking is recorded and posted and made edits of and retweeted and qrt'd to death, until they're #1 on trending. it's a little embarrassing; this is the most attention revali and link's relationship has ever received, especially outside of their community. but neither of them regret it. next time, maybe they'll even post a picture of them actually holding hands. <3

this is probably the most delusional I've been but hear me out ok,
imagine modern revalink in the movie all the president's men, with link as bob woodward and revali as carl bernstein 😊 specifically from the movie, not the actual ppl from watergate!!! 😭 idk the actual guys but in the movie idc their dynamic fits revalink perfectly and the potential chemistry should be explored
first of all here's a picture of the two guys
Tumblr media
the one with blond hair is woodword (aka link) and the one with brown hair is bernstein (aka revali)
ough revali and link as "rival" reporters at the hyrule post, and there's this emerging mystery/scandal about.. um,, uhh... some guy, idk it doesn't really matter, but they both want to investigate to uncover and report on the truth, but they're sort of competing to be the reporter who works on the story, and revali is critiquing the way link is presenting the facts in his draft while link is just trying to keep to himself and do his job
then their manager zelda is like, "if you're both going to be so obsessed with this case then you should just work on it together. I'm assigning you both to the story"
revali and link are like ???? they do not want to work together (well, link doesn't really care. revali is v pissed.) and things are turbulent at first. they both have different aspects they want the story to focus on, they have different methods for finding + interviewing sources.. it's a mess
but one day link makes a call to someone which ends up giving them a lead in the story, and revali makes a follow up call to confirm their suspicions, and they're so relieved they finally made progress!
from there they're able to collaborate better, they under each other's different strengths in reporting so they divide up the tasks a little more, revali is really good with words so he takes the lead in drafting their articles, while link is able to get more information out of people they talk to, so he spends more time contacting sources and interviewing ppl
there's this one scene in all the president's men where they both go to the library of congress and sort through all the check-out cards from the past several years because they're trying to find evidence to support their suspicions, and they're sitting at one desk in the library, literally leaning right against each other, and I'm like hm that's a little suspicious 📸
so yeah imagine revali and link in that kind of scenario, just sitting so close to each other, no noise except the sound of their breathing and the flipping through catalog cards 🙏 peak homoerotic tension
uh anyways it's actually been a while since I've seen all the president's men, this idea has been sitting in my drafts for a while so I can't really remember all the things I wanted to say about this au, but yeah it was a good idea and idc if my irl friend thought I was delusional for this ✋

5 LoZ Details You Might Have Missed in the LU
You know… I’ve seen a couple posts about Zelda lore recently and it got me thinking… it’s fun to write head canons and explore theories and stuff (I definitely indulge in the theory side of the fandom quite a bit) but I also really want to show my appreciation for canon and how well Jojo incorporates it into the LU.
Jojo really understands the source material. There’s obviously more references than just these five, but these are a few that I think are really cool. Also... I've been wanting to make something like this for awhile… just been lazy.
1. Time uses a mix of OoT's spin attack and TP's jump strike to protect Twi.
When wolfie goes down, Time is pissed. He demolishes a horde of monsters like it's nothing by combining two iconic zelda moves. The jump strike in particular is cool because it's one of the Hero Shade's Hidden Skills— moves he describes as "forgotten ways that do not leave our bloodline."
Love little details like this. Twi doesn't use magic, so it seems the shade actually adapted his techniques when teaching them to fit Twi's fighting style better and I kinda love that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Sky's mannerisms
From friendly jabs at others hair, to talking with his hands, to how he holds adorable creatures that want to maul his face off, Jojo nailed Sky's character.
Sky's handling of tiny creatures in particular is quite funny to me, because we went from Twilight-Princess-Snow-White-Link-Animal-Whisperer-Extraordinaire to Skyward Sword Link holding the little gremlins as far away from himself as possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Time's pose mirrors his statue from the Wind Waker
Within Hyrule Castle in the Wind Waker there's a large stone statue that is meant to be a monument to the Hero of Time. Wind grew up hearing the legends of the hero and it's part of the reason he's so in awe of Time.
Seeing him mirror the pose, it's no wonder why immediately after he began questioning Time about his original adventure.
Tumblr media
4. Hyrule's magic
Taking a 35 year old game and trying to transfer details over isn't exactly easy, but the way Jojo worked around some of this is pretty cool. For Hyrule's magic Jojo modeled it after the Champion's abilities from BotW (which Nintendo modeled after the spells in zelda 2, so full circle!).
Healing magic in past games was usually pink, but Mipha's magic emanated blue from her hands and so Hyrule's magic followed suit. Urbosa summons lighting with a snap of the fingers, and so does Hyrule. I imagine the jump spell is meant to be Revali's Gale (which Jojo did great job of transferring an 8-bit model over for), and if Hyrule ever performs his shield/reflect spell, I'd bet you anything he'd achieve it by either clenching his fists and holding them out or pounding his fists together like Daruk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Two Master Swords?!
Interesting how Legend hasn't said anything about this... because he has to know, right? (gonna be delving a tiny bit into theory territory here)
Unless you've played his games, you probably wouldn't be able to tell that the sword on his back is the Master Sword. But it's an... upgraded(?) version of it. Well I suppose within LU context it's more like a patch job. ALttP was the debut of the Master Sword but it's iconic design didn't come around and stick until OoT.
The small hints that Jojo has given us that the Master Sword wasn't in "perfect condition" for Legend is super interesting! Looking at the way Legend found the sword compared to Twi, it appears like much of the blade had to be redone. The cross-guard is missing its little spike, and the grip has already been covered by what appears to be cloth or leather. The rain-guard (the part that connects the blade to the hilt) seems to also be missing a piece.
Legends sword is now called the Tempered Sword, but there's still hints as to what it was. The cross-guard had to be replaced but it's kept its blue hilt. The pommel is the same and of course the sword still bears the mark of the Triforce.
It also freaking glows when in the presence of the fully powered Master Sword!
Now why is this? My theory is because the previous hero died. The whole reason Legend and Hyrule exist is because there's a universe where Time fails to beat Ganon and dies.
I want to really delve into this deeper in a future theory so... shameless self promo. Stick around, check out my other LU theories in the meantime!
And of course let me know your thoughts and favorite zelda references! I'd love to hear them! <3
EDIT: Here's that Legend's sword theory!

Hiii do you still take requests? If that's the case, could I ask for an Revali x reader where Revali was mean all the years to reader, but now they have to dance together on a festival because Revali's old dance partner broke her leg? (And the chief from the Ornis sad that revali have to dance with reader?) Thank you for reading ^^
The return of tsundere birb?????
I want tsundere birb.
Sorry if this took time, I was going back to my Otaku phase and I watched all Attack on Titan. Ngl, it's pretty cool and I believe in Mikasa and Levi supremacy. I'm not lying
Also, my teachers really said: don't let her rest, because I just had work after work every fucking day, but writing these was kinda refreshing.
I put a little bit of angst in this one, sorry~
I hope you like it ✨
Reader replacing Revali's old dance partner
I still have problem naming this hcs, help me please
Tumblr media
Another appointed knight of Zelda, Revali can't treat you the same as Link.
But he can actually, he doesn't treat you any different, except he doesn't insult you... That much.
If he doesn't like you, well, you neither.
You, nearly, respect him.
But you still are in a clearly inferior position then Revali.
So you don't have another choice to respect him.
He teases you every day.
Making you angry makes him kinda happy.
He thinks you look funny when you're angry.
He doesn't take you seriously 99% of the time.
Basically, Link and you must go for, kinda, the same treatment.
The worst part for you is that you past for this for literally years, since your parents were travellers, you visit a lot of places, and you lived near of the Rito village.
So, you had to see Revali's face for a long time.
Something amazing is that everyone thinks you are close to him.
Y'all got it wrong.
Couldn't be more different.
At first you did wanted to be friends, but he treated you kinda like a joke.
Going back to the present.
Revali still treats you like a joke
But now that just makes you annoyed so you keep your distance from him.
You can't do much when you, literally, are with Zelda all the time and she's always working with the Champion's.
A festival is coming to Rito Village, the elder invites all the Champions, including you.
You weren't sure to go, but even if you didn't want to, you had to, because if Zelda is there, you'll go.
You already went to that festival, it was colorful, vivid and had a great sense of home.
But when Revali was there, all of that fun go away, you may have left the festival on the moment he appeared.
You helped with the decorations, you lived almost all your life there, so you weren't a stranger to them.
Revali, surprisingly, took part of the preparations, he did loved his people.
Every Champion helped with the preparations.
Zelda was excited, she tried to hide it though, Link was... Happy? He didn't care that much, he seemed happy for Zelda.
Urbosa was interested, she had never go to one, Daruk was as much excited as Zelda, he's just always happy to be part of the celebration, Mipha was also interested in the festival, maybe she can buy some gift for Link.
Revali explained to them what they do in the festival, some archery games, for starters and professionals, a lot of traditional food and a music.
You talked with Link if he wanted to try the archery games, he agreed.
Revali just entered the conversation out of nowhere.
“Oh you want to participate on the archery competition? Be aware that I always participate and everytime I end on first place, there's no use on trying” I think I got carried with it
“Whatever you say big cucco, let's go Link, I haven't seen Zelda for a while after she went with the Rito children”
What he said to you... Kinda hurt.
You tried not think much about it.
At the day of the festival, you were always with Zelda y Link, the Champions sometimes followed but the go to something else.
Daruk and Mipha was with some kids, playing with them, Sidon was also invited so he stayed with her all the time.
Urbosa and Impa were looking everywhere, they liked the decorations.
Revali was showing off in the competitions, nothing new.
Zelda asked what you and Link wanted to do.
“Well, we were thinking about participating on one of those archery competitions but, princess, you are our priority”
“May you please forget that? Just for today, have fun, you can take this as you training time”
Link was surprised and conflicted, so do you.
“Are you sure princess?”
“Of course! I'll watch and cheer for you two, I'll tell the others, wait here” and she stormed off.
“Wait! princess- And she's gone... I think we should prepare” and Link just nodded.
Zelda returned with all the Champions, Sidon and Impa, except Revali.
They all go to the competition place, Link and you registered.
I like to think that the reader used something like the stealth mask, just because.
“Come to lose? I'm not blaming you, it's cute you want to try”
You tried to ignore him.
The competition was rather simple, you had to hit the target on the center of it and you gained points, some of the target were only available while flying, some other target's were constantly moving, other were so far away that you couldn't even see the center.
The competition was hard-fought, the three of you were almost tied, but in the final, Revali won.
“Very well... What a pleasant surprise, I could never imagine me losing to any of you two, after all, I'll be always the number one”
Now, that hurt.
Link was, as always, unbothered, but you were... Sad and really mad.
I don't think losing was the reason.
I think I making him really mean
You and Link got back with Zelda, the others noticed you were feeling down, Zelda tried to cheer you up.
“What if we go to see more of the festival? I know there's gonna be thing's you like” you appreciate her attempt's
Y'all continue walking through the festival until they announce a special dance is about to start, you and the others go to see.
You see Revali there and your mood immediately change to chill to about to go feral.
Zelda go where he was, Revali ease up when he sees her, it's the princess after all.
“Something's wrong Revali?”
“Of course not, just thing's aren't going as expected”
“What happened?”
“You are aware of the dance isn't? Well my dance partner broke their leg and nobody knows the dance except me and them”
Well... You knew the dance, you had see it since kid, but there's NO way you're gonna save his ass from embarrassment.
“Actually, I think there is someone” Urbosa stepped in the conversation.
“Really? Who?”
“Is someone you were disrespectful with no reason whatsoever, maybe if you start treating them with the respect everyone deserves and truly apologize, they might help you”
Revali got the hint immediately... And you knew.
Now, this is the moment you'd been waiting, let's see how long can he go to be honest and respect you truthfully.
Urbosa just smiled knowing that he didn't have any choice, is that or announcing he failed, and Revali hated that.
“Tsk... Fine, if it goes wrong, it's all your fault”
“You sure? Why mine and not the one who was disrespectful from the start?”
And that's how you attack the ego of a Rito.
Revali started walking towards you, he seem kinda awkward and upset.
“Not a step closer Rito champion, I know what you came for.... I have a question”
“What now?”
“You are really sorry or you just want to save yourself?”
Revali stayed silent some minutes, he wanted to say something but it didn't came out of his mouth.
“I thought so... If you're not really sorry, then don't even bother, also, you have to apologize truthfully with Link”
What? I wanted that too
“Wait.. I'm actually sorry...”
“And...?”
“It's just, I'm not used to this, I'm not use to have friends, alright? And you at the start really wanted to be one of them, and I panicked, I didn't knew how to react”
“Alright... You're leaving someone”
“Yes I know, I'm sorry Link for what I have tell you, you're... Not that bad...”
You looked at Link and he just smiled a little and nodded.
“Good try cucco, alright, I'll help you with this dance”
“You'll have to change clothing”
“...What?”
After a quick change to Rito clothing, you and Revali positioned on their places.
When the dance started, the elder was surprised, he'll have preferred a Rito partner.
But let me tell you, none of you care about it.
Revali had really smooth moves and you were light on your feet.
You finally had some fun with him.
When the dance finished, everyone started cheering and clapping, the dance was perfect!
You two went to the champion's, everyone was happy.
“What a show you two did!”
“Thanks your highness, I wasn't aware the cucco was able to dance”
“Are you kidding me? I'm better than you, obviously”
“What improvement you did”
You weren't his friend yet, but things were looking well.
“I gonna regret this... But you actually look pretty on Rito clothing”
Now, that was unexpected.
Every single one of the champions just stared at Revali completely confused.

I watched a few clips from ‘Black Widow’ and this au just popped into my head. (Be warned, this whole is incredibly messy and disjointed. I apologise for that. I’m just writing this as it pops into my head in a stream of consciousness because I’m kinda tired rn.)
Black Widow/Winter Soldier Wild AU
Can you imagine if when Wild’s really young and is discovered to be the hero, he’s just ripped away from his family and life to be trained as the hero. Except the training is pretty much just training him to be an obedient assassin who does whatever he is ordered to. He’s essentially got the training of Black Widow and the Winter Soldier and is just used by the royal family for whatever they want him to do basically.
***
I imagine parts of his training be things like…
1. The obvious weapons training. He’s trained with pretty much any weapon you can find in Hyrule until he’s a master at all of them. Sword, spear, bow and arrow, bommerang, etc.
2. Hand to hand combat as well. Again, he’s pretty much mastered it.
3. Pain resistance. He’s basically trained to ignore pain and they did this by beating him over and over until he learned not to flinch and show a physical reaction.
4. He speaks pretty much every language in Hyrule (Hylian, Goron, Gerudo, Rito, Zora, and Sheikah) fluently.
5. Any other stuff you can think of that he could be trained in basically.
***
Of course, as the hero he’s still Zelda’s bodyguard, they just never get along like they start to in the game before the Calamity awakens. Mainly because Wild has to follow her father’s every order and, like in canon, she hates that she has to be protected and feels useless because she can’t access her goddess given powers. And because Wild literally doesn’t even have the freedom to even think for himself, there isn’t really anyway for them to bond, so Zelda never ends up becoming nice to him like she is after he rescues her from the Yiga attack in one of the memories. (Yeah, this AU probably isn’t going to be super Zelda friendly, basically for more angst purposes when the LU boys come in).
A way to make the situation worse is by having all the champions, even Revali as much as he teases, be deeply uncomfortable by the way Wild is treated by the royal family. (I kinda imagine Revali still being a prick but he’s a bit nicer to Wild then he is in canon.) When they all first visit Hyrule Castle and see how he basically is treated more like a tool than a person, they are all absolutely furious. They all end up volunteering to train Wild in their various fighting styles as a way to get him away from the castle and his orders for a bit so that they can actually treat him kindly. But they treat him so differently to how he’s treated back in the castle that he’s actually confused by them treating him kindly. They’d all gotten back to their respective quarters that night and shed a few tears, the boy didn’t even know proper kindness.
The champions just see Wild as a member of their family and, although he doesn’t say it, he becomes fond of them too. He’s like a brother to all of them. They hate having to leave him to go and prepare the Divine Beasts and pray they see him soon.
Calamity Ganon rises.
The champions are killed in their respective Divine Beasts, and the makeshift family they had with Wild is broken apart.
Wild runs across a muddy field in torrential rain with Zelda’s hand in one of his and the Master Sword in his other. He’s running on nothing but orders and adrenaline. He has several cracked ribs, his left arm is broken even as he grips Zelda’s hand, there is blood pouring out of several cuts and gashes across his body, but still he keeps running. He has too, his body will not allow him to stop as he was ordered to run and protect the princess. She is his mission and he cannot fail.
But moments after Zelda finally unlocks her powers as she shields them from a guardian, he fails his mission. He collapses under the weight of his injuries and moments later, he dies in the middle of Hyrule Field. He has failed his mission and Hyrule has fallen. (Sorry, I don’t really know when I slipped into story mode there?)
But Zelda still manages to have him placed him the resurrection shrine as they still need him, and so, 100 years later, Wild wakes up.
The whole thing gets sadder if you imagine Wild’s training being so strong that it sticks after his resurrection. He doesn’t even understand it, he just hears a voice in his head yelling at him to not do this and not do that. (Extra sad thing, the reason he does all the side quests is because Zelda is the highest authority figure in Hyrule, but as she’s trapped in the castle and unable to give him orders, Wild just obeys anyone because he assumes that they’re a higher ranking than him, even though they are just normal people. And most of the time, they aren’t giving him orders they are asking for help, but he just doesn’t know the difference.)
Anyway, Wild completes his mission and defeats Calamity Ganon and everything seems okay. He’s still at Zelda’s side as she’s the current ruler and part of his programming is to obey the current monarch. They still don’t really get along, but Zelda is trying to be kind to him now, but I imagine that it’s just kind of too late for that now.
However, everything changes when the LU gang turn up (finally!) and look for this Hyrule’s hero, they do find him. But they just don’t expect him to be an emotionless 118 year old assassin. They talk with Zelda to discuss their quest and she says that Wild can go with them, blah blah blah. So they take Wild with them on their quest and just get more and more outraged the more they find out about him (oh, also Wild is mute in this and uses sign language.)
Since Time seems to be the leader of the group, Wild starts to treat him like he treats Zelda. Listens to whatever he says as Wild sees it as an order, protects him more during fights, that kinda stuff and it breaks Time’s heart when he figures it out.
Also i imagine that it’s also really strange for Wild to visit the other Hyrules and meet the other Zelda’s who have great relationships with their respective Links, because he doesn’t have that with his Zelda. (Although, I do see Malon immediately taking a liking to him and wanting to hug the poor boy, which would be super emotional for him as he hasn’t been hugged in years and can’t even remember his own mother).
***
But there are two times that the gang really learn how much his training messed him up and oh boy, are they fucking fuming!
The first time happened when Wild gets stabbed during a fight and doesn’t even flinch. Nobody notices until after the fight when they all sit at the camp fire that night and Wild just starts sewing his wound up as they all watch in horror. Hyrule asks why he never said he was injured and Wild says ‘it wasn’t important.’ And doesn’t understand why they make a fuss and insist he wastes a healing potion on himself (yes, Wild has an absolutely crap self-esteem here and doesn’t actually think he’s worth anything other than what he can do for people.) Hyrule has to be stopped from tackling Wild to check on the wound himself.
The second was when Wild put himself in danger during a fight to protect the others and when the fight was over Time yelled at him. It was out of concern for Wild’s wellbeing and asking why him had put himself in danger, but Wild thought he was in trouble and asked if Time wanted to punish him. Everyone, especially Time, was horrified and confused. Time asked what Wild meant by punishment and then almost wished he’d never asked. Wild just went into explanations of various punishments he’s had. They were all incredibly harsh, including being whipped, having to stand outside holding a sword outstretched in his hands all night while not being allowed to lower his arms, having to fight other full-armoured and equiped soldiers without any armour or weapons himself, etc. Wild is then the subject of a very big cuddle pile.
***
Basically this AU can be summed up as Black Widow/Winter Soldier Wild gets treated nicely for the first time in years and is very confused/uncomfortable, while the gang all immediately see Wild and are like ‘ahh yes, our amnesiac assassin now’ while they try to convince him that there is more to him than just being a puppet for people. Of course, while the quest with the black blooded monsters takes place as well.

Hey! I'm so glad your requests are open, I love your writing and I would love to suggest something. In my opinion, everyone noticed that Link and Zelda liked each other even before they knew. I imagine Urbosa, Revali, Daruk, or even Purah or Robbie would constantly be teasing them about that, only for them to quickly deny it and blush with embarrassment. But maybe this could lead the blondies to having interesting conversations, don't you think?
Firstly, I am SO sorry at how long this took. Life is really getting ahold of me, and it’s only getting worse. I decided to experiment with present tense in this oneshot, so I hope it turned out to your liking despite the experimental nature! Thanks for your request.
Rumors
Zelda rolls her eyes. “Please,” she groans. “I don’t like him.”
“Come on, Princess, you totally do!” Impa lightly taps her on the shoulder and wiggles her eyebrows. The princess reels back in playful disgust and smiles.
“Impa, I really don’t. We are just...” she searches for the right words. “Acquaintances...?”
“Friends,” Impa offers. “Maybe more.”
“There is no maybe, Impa. It’s simply false. The implication I like him, that is.”
Impa runs a hand over her face and rolls her eyes, too, following Zelda as she continues down the hall. “You guys go everywhere together!”
“He is my knight.”
“He held your hand that one time—”
“We were about to be blown up by a raging Guardian,” Zelda scolds, and she stops to face Impa. “It’s his duty to protect me, and he grabbed my hand to help me keep up with his speed.”
“Sure, Princess.” Impa crosses her arms. “But you can’t deny that—”
“Besides,” Zelda interrupts unintentionally, her voice soft and low in the castle halls, “I don’t think anyone would want to be with a failure like me.”
Impa blinks. Once, then twice. “Um...” she’s caught off guard by the sudden shift in mood. “That’s not true. I, for one, would love to be with you!”
“Impa!” Zelda scolds, her face burning scarlet. “I simply mean that I have much to worry about and don’t have the time to think about relationships. I need to fulfill my duty.”
“Everyone has a little spare time for love, Princess.”
Zelda gazes out the window next to her into a small green courtyard. “Not me,” she disagrees. “He is fulfilling his duty beyond what is expected. I need to figure out how to do the same.”
A guard approaches the pair of women and tells Impa that she’s needed elsewhere in the castle. Impa walks off with the guard after saying goodbye to Zelda, making sure to turn around and make kissy faces at her as she walks away.
Zelda chuckles quietly, but it really does bother her. The endless questions, assumptions, the never-ending looks she receives when she’s out with her knight Link. Ever since he was appointed as her knight, the rumors ran rampant. Part of her wishes that she would’ve been left alone to train day and night to appease the Goddesses that refuse to answer her even now, but the other part of her appreciates the support, however silent it is.
Zelda continues her stroll through the castle only to run into the Champions returning from the throne room at an intersection in the hallway.
“Hello,” she greets politely, still a little uncomfortable around them and in awe of the sheer power they each held individually. She feels that it would be rude to get too friendly too fast, given their statuses in their homelands.
“Hey, Princess!” Daruk bellows boisterously, his mouth positioned in a never-ending smile. “What’re you up to?”
Revali tuts and crosses his arms. “What a foolish question, Daruk. She lives here. What do you think she’s doing?” Zelda frowns and tilts her head ever so slightly in disapproval. Each of the champions has a strong personality, she knows, but Revali’s is arguably the strongest.
“I’m just on a walk,” she explains to Daruk with a small smile. “How about you?”
“Well, we’re—” his smile drops when he realizes he forgot.
Urbosa claps him on the back and a few sparks light up from her hands. She laughs heartily, deeply, warmly, and looks at Zelda. The Princess Zelda always found comfort in Urbosa. When her mother died, Urbosa was the only woman in her life that was there for her, especially in her younger years.
“We just got our next mission from the King,” Urbosa tells her. “We’re on our way to vanquish some monsters from the Breach of Demise.”
“By ‘we’, she means ‘I’,” Revali cuts in. “We all know I do all the work.” Urbosa shoots him a glare and its enough to silence him for a little while.
They talk a little while longer about boring, menial things, like how it is back home or what their plans are after they defeat the Calamity. Zelda wishes she could think like them.
“Mipha, aren’t you craftin’ some armor for someone?” Daruk asks loudly, and Mipha turns even redder than her skin.
“I— well, yes, I am.”
“Really?” Urbosa says in surprise. “There’s a special voe in your life, little vai?”
Mipha only nods.
Suddenly, Revali groans, and it’s an unheavenly and demonic sound. He turns to face the wall behind him, arms still crossed. “Look who it is!” he yells. “The great knight!” His voice is riddled with notes of sarcasm and disdain.
Zelda’s gaze shifts away from the proud Champions and to Link, who is still approaching them. His face is the same; mouth flat and eyes dull. He always looks bored, but perhaps indifferent is the better word. Zelda doesn’t quite know the words to describe his demeanor. It crosses her mind then that she’s never seen him smile.
She doesn’t realize it, but her face glows pink.
“Princess, are you alright?” Mipha’s soft voice breaks Zelda’s trance and she blinks out of it. “You’re red.”
She realizes.
“I—I am not!” she says defensively, fanning her face. Daruk is puzzled, but Mipha and Urbosa share knowing glances. The tall Gerudo warrior strides over to the princess and puts a hand on her shoulder.
“The princess and I are going to talk for a moment,” she says with a wink at Mipha, who blushes. “I’ll meet up with you outside the castle.” The Champions walk away, and Revali doesn’t miss his chance to send a searing glare at Link. As usual, the knight doesn’t react, and it makes the Rito even angrier.
“Link, you can be on your way as well,” Urbosa tells him. He looks at Zelda and back at Urbosa, and his gaze makes the princess feel a little weak. “Oh, I see. Come along, then.”
Zelda and Urbosa walk side by side while Link trails behind a little ways, unable to hear their whispers.
“You make it so obvious,” Urbosa says. “You like him, don’t you?”
“Please, I just had this conversation with Impa. I don’t know if I can make it any clearer that I have no romantic incline toward Link.”
“Your mother was a very busy woman.”
“My mother? What does she—”
“She often overworked herself, much like you, little bird.” Urbosa’s voice is warm and comforting, a stark contrast from the strong inflection she uses when giving commands. “She never allowed herself time off.”
“I do not overwork myself.”
“She also had a habit of denying the obvious. I see you inherited that as well.”
Zelda grumbles under her breath and Urbosa smiles. “When she made time for herself, she found someone. Your father.”
“I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.”
“Zelda, it’s okay to indulge a little. To want something. Even when your father demands that you train, it’s okay to be a little selfish.”
Zelda stares up at Urbosa in admiration. “I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone now,” the chief says. “Sav’orq!” Urbosa walks down the hallway and turns a corner quickly.
Zelda groans. “We are not lovebirds!” she calls after Urbosa, but she’s long gone. She stops walking and turns to face her knight whose expression is still blank. “And you... I assume you don’t have much of an opinion on the matter?”
Link tilts his head, a silent show of confusion.
“Surely you’ve heard the rumors.” She steps closer and hisses, “We’re secret lovers.”
His expression doesn’t change, but his cheeks do. They flare a bright red like she’s never seen on him before. “It’s just silly,” she sighs, “and frustrating. Because I don’t feel that way about you. I think.”
He doesn’t say anything.
“Tell me what you think about it,” she demands. “I want to know.”
He doesn’t say anything still, but he’s thinking, and she can tell.
“I don’t mind,” he says plainly.
“You don’t... what?” She’s surprised, maybe a little disappointed, but she dwells more on the sound of his voice—soft and the exact opposite of what she imagined. “Why wouldn’t you mind? The rumors are wrong in every way! I simply don’t have time to have a lover and how scandalous is the mere idea! Other than that, you wouldn’t want to be with me. I can’t do the simplest things.”
“I think they’re sorta true.”
She squints at him. “What?”
“I like you. And I think you can do more than you think.”
Before she can say anything, someone calls his name down the hall. He mutters an apology, bows, and runs away.
Alone in the hallway she sighs and cups her cheek with her hand. She giggles, brushes a strand of hair behind her ear. “He likes me.”
Maybe the rumors hold some truth.

Desired Fate, Chapter 14
Read on ff.net
Read on AO3
Zelda and the others were transfixed as they looked up at the spirit of Calamity Ganon writhing around the castle. The anguish of all Hyrule hung stagnant in the air along with the ambient gurgling sound of malice.
"It's here…" Impa was the first one who managed to speak. "The Calamity has already begun…" She said, at a loss.
"No, No…." Zelda gasped when she noticed malice enter one of the nearby Guardians and became animate. It made a horrible mechanical sound as it turned its 'eye' towards the princess, a red laser appearing on Zelda's chest. Link immediately sprang into action, deflecting the Guardian's blast back at it in a brilliant flash of light.
"Calamity Ganon is taking control of the Guardians!" Zelda lamented. "It's going to turn them all against us!"
"It can do that?" Said Revali in surprise, realization starting to dawn on the Rito champion, as well as the three others. The Calamity was far more cunning than any of them had imagined.
"There are still more on the castle grounds. It's too dangerous. Everyone, protect the princess as we make our retreat!" Impa called.
"But…"
With that, Link grabbed Zelda's hand, pulling her roughly behind him as he ran down the brick path away from the Castle, which didn't go unnoticed by Astor, feeling an intense wave of sullenness he couldn't shake. They disappeared down the path and the Champions and Sheikah aide followed, no one paying him any mind in the frenzy the Calamity had created.
Astor remained, feeling out of sorts and alone, but determined to fully embrace his new destiny. Hyrule really was on its knees… Especially Zelda, who was being crushed under the weight of her duty. How had he ever been so blinded by Calamity Ganon to want this? To want to harm her? He had almost killed her for the sake of Calamity Ganon… HER! He was barely aware that his fists were clenched, wanting to make her his and spare her all this pain and suffering. The back of his neck was becoming sore as he glared up at the beast he'd once dedicated his life to serving. Calamity Ganon opened its maw to a right angle, and a thunderous roar of rage issued forth as if demanding the prophet make a blood sacrifice of himself to atone for his disloyalty.
Astor smiled up at the beast spitefully.
I wasted so many years of my life on you…. But serving you led me to her… I must thank you… I'm going to live on and create a legacy for myself, and you… You're going to be sealed away… Forever perhaps.
Astor's smile faded as he noticed King Rhoam emerge from the castle's sanctum.
"You're coming with me…" Rhoam said in a stern, matter-of-fact way., The King wielded a huge claymore single-handedly, flanked by three knight attendants.
Astor scowled at the older man, raising his hand to summon his orb, but then thought better of it, giving only a huff of defiance.
"I'm glad I have your cooperation, Astor," Rhoam said, coming close as he brandished his claymore in a vaguely threatening way. The sword was almost as big as he was.
Confident that Astor would not run or fight back, Rhoam nodded to his attendants. "Alright men, retreat!"
"Yes, Sire!" The three knight attendants said in unison. They were looking around wildly, in horror at the destruction the Guardians were bringing and a bit miffed that their king had apparently decided to take a prisoner at the worst time possible.
The five quickly, but carefully made their way down the path, Rhoam staggering a Guardian that blocked their path with a single swing of his sword. Astor could almost feel the brunt of that swing.
"Astor, I'm afraid we're going to get to know each other whether you like it or not. Had the Calamity not happened when it did, you would be in lockup now. However, since my castle is currently overrun with Guardians and all manner of Ganon's monsters, I will be keeping an eye on you myself. Suffice to say, I am not in a good mood."
Astor kept his gaze forward as they moved forward. The king's tone did not bode well for him. It wasn't lost on him that he was in a precarious situation. Still, this could be amusing.
"I know I'd rather not," King Rhoam continued, "but given that I fear you are encroaching on my daughter's divine duties, I must go above and beyond to perform mine as her father and as king." Rhoam noticed Astor's attention was elsewhere. "Look at your king when he's talking to you, you piece of filth!" Rhoam raised his voice, finding the younger man infuriating, despite knowing so little about him. The prophet had already left the worst impression on him, not that he stood a chance in hell of making a good first impression all things considered. Why would Zelda consort with this man, let alone trust him? He was scrawny, deathly pale, and dressed in rags. Everything about Astor was… off-putting. How had he and Zelda even met? Was the young knight he'd appointed to Zelda slacking off?
Astor turned his attention to the older man slowly, giving him a look of intense spite. He then saw the king's eyes widen, looking at something beyond him. Astor turned to come face to face with a Guardian's laser trained on him.
Rhoam and his men stood back, apparently obliging the Guardian to make short work of Astor.
The Guardian's laser rested on Astor for a moment, moving over the malice eye on his circlet before fading and readjusting to focus on the king.
Rhoam wasted no time in raising his claymore and bringing it down on the Guardian, giving a grunt of effort. Bolts and gears flew out of the busted machine, littering the brick pathway.
"Why did the Guardian disregard you?" Rhoam mused aloud. "How disappointing..."
"Thank you for looking out for me, Rhoam. Such a caring king and father, too… You're going to make a fine grandfather someday..." Astor said darkly, facetiously.
"How dare you!" Rhoam bellowed, giving the young man a ruthless slap across the face, causing Astor to stagger and fall. Astor simply returned a perverse smile despite the stinging sensation on his cheek. Astor began to laugh, chuckling at first and then breaking into an intense round of laughter, his yellow eyes going wide in a way that unsettled the old king - as if seeing beyond. "Yes, my children. Go harass King Rhoam and do not disappoint me!"
Rhoam was fuming. Astor was either very insane or intentionally provoking him, perhaps both. Either that or he had injured the prophet's mind when he struck him. Astor's antics were making it very difficult for the king to maintain his composure.
"You're very fortunate I am not a crass man, or I'd tell you what I think you deserve… Now tell me, how well do you know my daughter?"
"Well enough to know she is terribly lonely." Astor replied. "She despises you."
"What nonsense… Everything I've done has been for her! She was supposed to be Hyrule's pride, but it seems that the gossipmongers' words are coming true... Look around you. Hyrule is on fire. What sort of future does she have? 'Heir to a throne of nothing' if she does not awaken that power very soon. I can tell you're a lousy prophet by that alone."
"Bold words from a king who does not carry the blood of the Goddess."
"I may not carry the blood of the goddess, but I am still the rightful king of Hyrule in my late queen's stead. I was born into a noble family and my union with her was arranged by the former king and queen. The only thing I'm going to be arranging for you is an execution. Know your place, Prophet."
"An execution?" Astor almost laughed. He couldn't imagine what Rhoam's reaction might be when he learned he had formerly been trying to bring about Calamity Ganon's revival. "On what grounds?"
"Interfering with the Princess awakening her power to seal Calamity Ganon away for one. Also because it would bring me personal satisfaction. Now, get up, before I change my mind and grind my boot into your head. You're slowing down our escape."
Slowly Astor got up, dusting himself off, raising his chin to the older man in a testing manner.
"Wipe that smirk off your face. Move!" Rhoam said, giving Astor a shove with the side of his claymore.
oOo
Zelda looked back over her shoulder, her hair whipping in the wind as she ran. "Wait… Where are Astor and my father? We can't leave them behind…!"
Nobody seemed to acknowledge her question or nobody heard.
They ran through the chaotic town streets, witnessing horrifying scenes as the Guardians wrought havoc upon Hyrule's capital. Guardians were climbing the walls of houses and shops alike, some not being able to bear the weight of the mechanical wonders and the rooftops beginning to crumble.
They finally reached the main gate, crossing the threshold into Hyrule Field, as the Guardians had completely overtaken the castle and even the surrounding town. They stopped to look back, now a safe distance away. Zelda's eyes widened in horror when she realized more Guardians were appearing, being methodically ejected from the five columns that had suddenly risen out of the ground to surround Hyrule Castle. The same columns she had tried so hard to locate just days ago.
"Where did he go…?" Zelda said out of breath and sick at heart, but trying not to break down again. Hadn't she already cried all the tears she thought she had at the realization of her failure? She knew the Calamity was eventual, but experiencing it was beyond her worst nightmares.
"Little bird… How do you know he wasn't the one to summon the Calamity himself just by being present?" Said Urbosa.
"T-that can't be… " Zelda said, exasperated, not even willing to entertain the idea.
"His Majesty is missing as well… Did he remain behind on purpose?" Impa mused.
"The two are probably still bickering for all we know…" Revali quipped. "Hylian males…"
It would have been a humorous mental image in any other circumstances: Astor and her father too entrenched in their argument to notice as Guardians flooded into the Sanctum, but Zelda was vaguely aware that Astor had at least left the sanctum when the Calamity appeared.
Zelda turned her gaze elsewhere. Watching Castle Town burn was too much to bear. She happened to catch Link's eye, the boy wearing a severe expression.
You're fated to unlock your power because of him.
Zelda looked away from him and then at the back of her hand, giving an inaudible sigh, doubts about so many things clouding her mind.
This didn't go unnoticed by Urbosa, who came to stand behind Zelda, placing her hands on the princess's shoulders. "Don't give up! It's not too late."
"I know… We can't let the Calamity win. No matter what…" Zelda said, sounding downtrodden, but resolute.
"All is not lost. As long as I live I will fight. Just as you must." Impa reassured Zelda.
All the champions agreed one by one.
The group lifted their heads when they sensed others making their escape into Hyrule Field and out of Castle Town. Zelda's breath caught in her throat when she saw Astor standing in the shadow of her father's sword. He was unbound, yet it was clear from their expressions that he wasn't standing there on his own volition. Astor held her briefly in his gaze and then looked away, in shame. His face was more bruised than before.
"Champions, go to your Divine Beasts!" King Rhoam called in an official tone. "Astor will be coming with me, lest he interfere any further. Link… You are the knight to Princess Zelda. I trust you understand your duty." Rhoam said, shooting a disapproving look at Zelda.
There was a flicker in Zelda's eyes as they began to sting. "Where are you taking him?!"
Suddenly their hands held her back before she could rush forward. Zelda cried out for Astor as Rhoam and his attendants turned to leave, giving Astor another shove in the direction they were going.
A million horrible possibilities rushed through her mind. She was under no delusion that her father would deal with Astor kindly, especially if he were to ascertain Astor's former ties to the Calamity.
"What are they going to do to him?! Please, Someone, do something... Don't let them take him away!" Zelda implored pitifully, despairing because she knew none of them were going to defy her Father. Zelda dropped her head. "He's all… He's all I have…"
It was very soft, but everyone heard. Her pleas sounded all too familiar.. Rhoam halted, just for a moment to look back in irritation instead of pity as he had when she was young.
"Dammit, Zelda, show some self-control!" Rhoam said, angrily. "Your whining didn't work back then, what makes you think it will work now?"
Zelda looked hurt by his response, her shoulders shaking. Rhoam wondered if she remembered when he had confiscated the little Guardian she had named Terrako in a bid to get her to focus on her training. A decision that regrettably hadn't borne any fruit. Rhoam had almost cursed the late queen. Damn her for instilling such a love for Sheikah technology and relics in her daughter, which only proved to be a distraction for Zelda in awakening her divine power. That had been the most grievous flaw Rhoam saw in his wife.
Astor knew this was his moment to act. While the king was distracted, Astor phased past Rhoam like a restless spirit, knocking Rhoam off balance for a moment.
Zelda looked up and exhaled in surprise.
Astor came to a stop in front of Zelda, making a show of pulling her close. She clutched tightly to his robes, and for a moment everything else ceased. She was his and he was hers. She would have given much to live in that moment forever, relieved tears cascading down her cheeks.
"Her Highness is mine now. Have fun fighting the Calamity, Rhoam. You don't deserve her."
"Hylia on her throne! Stop him!" Rhoam ordered his knight attendants.
The men hesitated, fearful of the prophet's magical abilities. And in the blink of an eye, Astor raised his orb high, vanishing with Zelda in tow. Those that remained looked on in silent disbelief.
A short distance away, the scene was reflected in the 'eye' of Harbinger Ganon. Ganon knew it was winning, though that did not satisfy the being's intense all-encompassing rage. Its plans had still been disrupted. The weak-minded, disaffected Hylian man it had chosen to do its bidding in this age had somehow seen beyond the illusion of importance and power it had engineered for him. High above, the spirit of Calamity Ganon gave a shattering roar of detest for the goddess it knew was at work. And because of that vile goddess, the foolish bag of flesh was stepping out on him, even after all the power it had bestowed upon him. Ganon would simply take the man's ability to wield malice away. It would make sure the seer suffered tenfold for betraying him and choosing the girl who bore the goddess's blood. That pathetic mortal was supposed to remain loyal until his dying breath at its hand, for Ganon hated all life and showed no partiality even towards those who swore allegiance to it. It had been over ten millennia since Ganon had been mortal, and any memory of its past humanity or semblance of understanding human emotions had long perished. Calamity Ganon's inhuman hatred burned against the Hylian seer, rivaling its hatred for the hero and the young woman who bore the blood of the goddess. And so, the corrupted Guardian began to plot.

Honesty
Hi, again. Here is more content for all you lovely people because you deserve it and also because I need my distractions. Unless, of course, my downward spiral into mental unhealthiness is making my writing and quality complete strangers. Let me know if that’s the case and I’ll stop.
Anyways, here’s a one-shot that’s kind of long. Pre-calamity fluff is always fluffy until I remember that Link loses his memories and then it’s sad. I make everything sad, don’t I?
Zelda’s fingers were interlaced where she sat at her vanity, watching as her thumb brushed up and down the opposite finger. She tried to focus on the small tickle it produced, not the unsettling feeling in her chest, her flighty and unrestrained heart, her thoughts and feelings she couldn’t get a hold of.
“Your Highness,” Urbosa said with a few casual knocks on the open door. Zelda looked up as she came in. “You requested me.”
“Yes, yes,” Zelda said, turning in her chair. “I...need some advice.”
Urbosa’s eyebrows twinged upwards in surprise.
“It must be important,” Urbosa said. “Your father’s banquet starts soon.”
“This won’t take long,” Zelda insisted. “I…”
She exhaled a shaky sigh.
“I have a friend,” Zelda said. “She likes someone, but...she doesn’t know what to do. He’s below her station by quite the amount and although she doesn’t care...she knows everyone else will.”
Urbosa smiled warmly and knowingly.
“Sounds like your friend is in quite the situation,” Urbosa said.
Zelda forced a small smile.
Urbosa sat down in a nearby chair.
“Do you know how courting works in Gerudo culture?” Urbosa asked.
Zelda nodded.
“Once a Gerudo comes of age, she leaves the town in hopes of finding love,” Zelda started. “She explores Hyrule, gets to know herself, and finds someone who matches her.”
“When she finds that person,” Urbosa added, “someone she likes. She doesn’t delay anything. We as Gerudo are accustomed to be very outright with our feelings. A Gerudo interested in someone, whether they are male or female, comes right out and tells them.”
“Seems rather direct,” Zelda said.
“Gets the job done,” Urbosa said. “And it’s what I recommend to your...friend.”
Zelda peered at Urbosa’s expression. She knew. She absolutely and completely knew.
“Is it that easy to tell?” Zelda asked.
“You are blushing profusely, Your Highness,” Urbosa said with that hearty Gerudo laugh. “Come on, who is it?”
Zelda hesitated before her head bowed.
“The knight,” she said quietly, “the one with the sword that seals the darkness...Link.”
She wished she could dampen the way her heart swelled at the utterance of his name, the heat in her cheeks.
Zelda looked up to Urbosa to see her reaction, and she was smiling from ear to ear.
“You have a crush on your knight attendant?” She asked rhetorically. “That’s adorable.”
“I can’t stop thinking about him,” Zelda explained. “And I don’t want to stop, but I must have to. He is far from acceptable as a member of the court. My father would never approve.”
“You don’t know that,” Urbosa said.
“And with this whole calamity thing...I already can’t access my sealing power. He calls my studies frivolous, but an affair with my knight attendant really would be frivolous. Link has his own duties as well, not to mention the public already has marked me as a failure. I can’t add anything to their arguments.”
Urbosa nodded along.
“But…” Zelda continued. “Sometimes...sometimes when I see him...his blue eyes, his smile...sometimes all I want to do is forget everything and just sink my lips into his.”
“You and half of Hyrule,” Urbosa jived, a small mumble.
“Urbosa…” Zelda said despite the joke. “I don’t know what to do.”
Urbosa took a pause with pursed lips.
“You already know what I suggest,” she said. “Be upfront. Maybe after Calamity Ganon appears and is defeated, Link’s commendation will be enough to officially court you.”
Zelda looked down at her hands. Her hands that lacked the sealing power of the goddesses, her hands that were necessary to defeat Calamity Ganon. Until then, the prudent option would be for her to bury her feelings and focus solely on the power.
“Good call, though, little bird,” Urbosa said, Zelda tilting her head back up. “You two would make an adorable couple.”
Zelda inhaled to tell her to stop, knowing her heart could only take so much, but she was interrupted.
“Reporting for duty, Your Highness,” they heard outside. Urbosa stifled a laugh at how much Zelda blushed, the panic in her expression like a doe that had spotted its hunter.
“She’s decent,” Urbosa replied, completely amused by the way Zelda composed herself, standing up, smoothing out her dress, brushing away strands of hair that escaped from her updo.
Link, in contrast, was the complete opposite as he entered the room, the very picture of a royal guard. Not only was he in the uniform, but he was standing straight as a log, expressionless and waiting to be an escort to the banquet and nothing more.
At first it really was nothing more, the King worried of Yiga assassination so much that Zelda walking from her quarters to the dining hall was a worrisome affair. It was only after Zelda reminded the King that Link was a champion along with Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa that Link was invited to the banquet. It also helped that Zelda acted like she was worried about assissination at the banquet as well, telling her father that it couldn’t hurt to have Link around and reminding him of the incident with the pot lid. Her father praised her wisdom but behind all the farce, she just wanted to spend time with Link.
“Hi,” she said with a nervous chuckle.
“Hello, Your Highness, Lady Urbosa”
His greeting was much more formal.
“Don’t worry, Link,” Urbosa said as she stood up. “You won’t have to escort me tonight. The Yiga know to stay away by now or else their numbers would decrease exponentially.”
She stopped before the exit.
“I do have a question for you though,” she said, Link turning his head.
“If someone had a crush on you,” Urbosa asked, Zelda’s eyes widening. “What would you want them to do?”
Link scratched the back of his head.
“Uhm.”
“Thank you, Urbosa,” Zelda said as she pushed her out the door. “I’ll see you at the banquet.”
Zelda returned to Link, averting her glance as she walked to meet him.
“What was that about?” He asked.
“Nothing,” Zelda replied.
She imagined telling him, him smiling or laughing with that chuckle, or hugging her, or kissing her. But he may very well show no reaction, his lips straight and unmoving, his expression warping to express confusion or, worse, disdain or disgust.
But for now he offered his arm with a small smile, something she wagered was the only thing that could pull her out of her flustered state. She remembered them talking at length at how he no longer shows his emotions outwardly. Zelda questioned why that was starting to change when it was just them alone before she realized she was staring into his eyes.
She latched her arm into his, them taking a stroll along the hallway as she looked anywhere else but at him. It proved pointless though, a blush adorning her cheeks at the mere thought of whose arm was linked with hers, his eyes, his smile, the way his blonde hair was messy under the cap, the thought of running her fingers through it…
Goddesses have mercy on her heart. Someday it may swell right out of her chest.
“It is customary for me to offer my compliments on your appearance,” Link said. “Escorting royalty to formal gatherings is an honor paid with those compliments. They told me so yesterday, briefing me on all sorts of things to say like ‘I hold envy towards the man who steals your heart’ or ‘No creature but you could take my breath in such a manner’.”
“Those sound familiar,” Zelda stated.
“And a bit outdated, don’t you think?”
Zelda laughed.
“You’re telling me,” she said. “Did they tell you about ‘In just one glance I know the meaning of lust’?”
“Yikes,” Link said with a similar laugh. “They must have left that one out.”
“The entire practice is outdated,” she said. “The whole thing is a precursor to courting. Most of my escorts are esteemed knights that are later suitors. It doesn’t seem so bad but when I have men twice my age doting upon me...it unsettles me to the core.”
“Also, like,” Link started. “Why is it only your appearance that matters? Why not your character or your intelligence?”
“Exactly!” She said excitedly. “Goddesses, I’m so glad you agree.”
“I’m just glad you finally got someone who isn’t going to say that stuff,” Link said. “And I’ll beat up anyone who has in the past. I’m serious, give me names and provinces.”
Zelda laughed again. It was so easy with him.
“That’s not necessary, Link,” she said. “But I appreciate the offer.”
The conversation lagged as they continued along the hallway.
“I hope you don’t mind that I give my own version,” Link said. “That you are gorgeous, inside and out.”
Zelda smiled. It wasn’t rehearsed. They were his words. He didn’t have to say them.
“No, I don’t mind,” she said.
They stopped, facing the large doors that would lead to the dining hall.
Zelda could already hear the bustle of straggling conversations, the clatter of plates and silverware, the shuffle of maids and kitchen staff as they prepared for the banquet to follow. Just one push, one crack of the towering doors and their time would become everyone else’s.
“When we go through these doors,” Zelda said quietly. “You’re going to go silent and stoic again, aren’t you?”
“I told you it’s my default,” Link replied.
Zelda shook her head, looking to him.
“Not always,” she argued. “With me it...it’s like you come alive.”
“You understand the pressure I’m under,” Link said, turning his head as well and Zelda praying to any goddess that her impulsiveness remains curbed. “It’s easy to just talk to you. When I’m with you...I feel like maybe everything is going to be okay. I feel my stoicism fading quickly when I’m around you, even though I know it should increase, you being royalty. Perhaps I should apologize.”
“No, no,” she implored. “Please don’t apologize. Your candidacy makes me so happy. I like you a lot when you become yourself.”
Link tipped his head with a smile.
“Really?”
“Well, yes,” she said. “All those emotions and thoughts you hide, of course you’re not yourself when you hide them. After all, haven’t we established that it’s what is on the inside that really counts?”
Link looked to the doors, Zelda tracking the movement with her eyes.
“Not to them,” Link stated. “You know the stories better than I, of all the heroes before...their unflinching bravery and how because of that, they overcame so much. I must be that image, for the public, for the King, for the champions, for me. Hyrule can’t afford for me to be anything else, especially now.”
“How do you do it?” Zelda asked. “Restrain your actions that act on empathy? Hide the deepest parts of you and show nothing? I used to think you were void of emotions, thoughts and feelings you had to have but simply didn’t. You convinced me so well that my frustration overcame me. How...how did you do it so well?”
“You wish to emulate it,” he stated. His voice was sharp and dark.
Before Zelda could voice her affirmation Link voiced a,
“Don’t.”
Zelda didn’t know what to say before they heard her father’s voice shout something from the inside. Authoritative, the muffled exclamation surely signaled the start of the banquet.
In silence, the Princess and her escort pushed upon the doors, pulling the eyes of all in attendance. Murmured conversations ensued as the guests took their chairs. Link tried not to listen and so did Zelda, the knight guiding her to a pair of empty chairs close to the head of the table.
Zelda was closest to her father, who was the head, with Link next to his charge. Link knew the champions were on his other side, but paid them no mind. The only thought that occurred to him was that he was glad to see smooth red skin closest to him instead of prickly blue feathers.
“You shine too bright,” Link said, whispering in Zelda’s ear. The volume and closeness made her blush. She listened intently, but watched her father, ensuring he didn’t see the overwhelming evidence of her infatuation. “To dim yourself would be a sin. Silence is a lonely and dangerous road to take. As your knight attendant, I must protect you from it.”
“So you value honesty, then?”
“I’m unaccustomed to the practice myself,” he said. “But I appreciate yours, how you go on about this or that. It’s an enthusiasm that fascinates me. If this burden stopped you from the happiness you find in that, I would be very sad for you.”
Zelda smirked, anticipating words in her head of teasing her knight attendant for that comment.
“Greetings, all!” the King boomed, Zelda’s focus going from Link’s stoic profile to her standing father. “We celebrate another year of prosperity in our kingdom. We are stronger than ever and with my daughter on the cusp of a great breakthrough, the goddess Hylia will strengthen us further.”
His words were laced with a commanding tone, a subtle reprimand and demand of Zelda that only Link seemed to catch. The King shot Zelda a distinct glare of discipline, to which Zelda bowed her head and Link furrowed his brow.
If it weren’t against his sworn duty, Link would have protected Zelda from her father.
“Tonight,” the King continued as Link took Zelda’s hand under the table. From the point of view of any of the other guests, Link and Zelda showed no change, even as their grip tightened. “We welcome you all to celebrate Hyrule together. Enjoy!”
“I’m sorry I can’t protect you from him,” Link said as the food was served. “His words.”
“No one can,” Zelda said. She didn’t look at Link, but her voice was hushed and her focus was on the food. Link similarly reacted, or rather, lacked reaction, his hands going through the same motions of handing to the next person a plate of food. Any more obvious conversation and hushed whispers into each other’s ears and they knew onlookers and gossip-mongers would cry affair.
“I want to,” explained Link. “But it’s hard for me to be honest about some things, given the situation. Not honesty in the strictest sense of the word, but...it’s more a problem with speaking openly and frankly than actually flat-out lying. As much as I want to, I can’t defy the King. Hylia knows what will happen to my commission and I doubt he’ll let me protect you anymore. I’m sure you understand.”
“I do,” Zelda said. “You have a duty, like me. Speaking where it isn’t our place is something else we can’t afford. We must focus on defeating the calamity first. Nothing else matters.”
Link took her hand again, the connection hidden under the wood of the table, away from the eyes of those who look to scorn.
They spoke no more words to each other that night. Their hands stayed connected until the sweat made Link withdraw, not wanting to disgust his charge when in reality Zelda missed his touch.
Link exchanged a conversation with Mipha and one with the King where his voice wavered a bit, but otherwise he was a man of few words. He was praised for his heroism and resisted speaking once again at the King’s comment that Link specifically has done everything he can to fulfill his destiny. King Rhoam went on to hope with a fervent heart that the calamity will be defeated. Link always knew he intended well with his words but that didn’t mean they stung Zelda any less.
But as far as formal gatherings went, there was only really one good thing about them. The attire was thick and scratchy, always a size too big. The eyes were numerous and weighed heavily on them. The way he felt closed off, the silence he was accustomed to made him feel trapped. Every time he opened his mouth, he felt as if he would be better off closing it, that the wrong words would escape it.
So Link was glad when the one good thing about these kinds of gatherings fell asleep on his shoulder.
He looked down and smiled at the way she breathed, cooed with a peaceful sleep. It was more than an excuse to get him out of there. It was something that warmed his heart.
The King acknowledged that it was getting late and told him to take her to her chambers. Link nodded and gently picked her up so that her bent knees drooped over one of his arms, the other supporting her back.
With a soft concern he handed her over to her waiting handmaidens and the door to her chamber was closed before him.
Something rose within him, something hot and cold and good and bad. He stood, staring at the intricately carved doors as he realized, for better or worse.
He was in love with her.

stew
Or: It’s been two days since Calamity Ganon fell. Link has some thoughts, and he and Zelda have dinner.
The princess sleeps a lot.
Zelda, he reminds himself. She wants to be called Zelda.
He’s in the middle of making an Endura Shroom Stew and opened his mouth to ask if she likes carrots, because he can’t remember if she does, and found her asleep again, slumped back against the tree like she has been for the past thirty minutes they’ve spent camped on the edge of Hyrule Field, crawling their way to Kakariko to see Impa.
The moon is full, and for the first time in his second life it isn’t dripping red. The monsters in the surrounding area all vanished after she struck the final blow, and have yet to reappear.
Link sighs. She’ll just have to eat around the carrots.
It’s been two days since the death of the Calamity, since the princess-Zelda, her name is Zelda-asked if he remembered her, since she smiled at him. Really smiled, not just a polite half-grimace whenever she said, Thank you.
May I ask...do you really remember me?
He told her, No, not really. I’m sorry, and watching her smile fade was like watching the clouds smother the sun.
He likes the sun.
Oh, she had said, bowing her head and tucking a strand of her golden hair behind her ear. Well, that’s all right. I wasn’t expecting you to.
Forty eight hours later, and Link finally realizes she was lying.
She’s small, smaller than she was in the snippets of memory the slate showed him. He can see her ribs through her prayer dress from where he’s kneeling over a cooking pot a few feet away, and her skin looks like paper. Her eyes are sunken in her face, the shadows beneath them like bruises even though she’s spent the majority of these first two days unconscious.
It’s not like he can blame her, though. Only one of them spent the past century fighting eternal darkness to save the world, and it wasn’t him.
No, not really. I’m sorry.
He wishes he were a liar.
The stew has been simmering for however long he’s sat, and he decides it’s finished, splitting it between the only two bowls he has with a century-old ladle he stole from the castle. The back of his right hand-his sword hand, he had identified it as when he woke up in the Shrine-tingles. Behind him, laying next to his shield on top of his bag of “stuff”, the Master Sword hums in its scabbard. Link frowns, doesn’t know why it’s calling to get his attention, until-
“Link?”
His eyes snap to hers. They’re a dull green, the color of grass in the shade, but he knows-he remembers-that they’re usually much brighter, especially when she’s holding a frog to his face and excitedly telling him to, Go on, try it! He likes her voice better when it’s in his ears and not echoing in his head, even like this. It’s weak, hoarse, and trembling, like she’s afraid to speak to him, and maybe she is. From what he can gather, they were friends Before. Maybe even more than that. After all, according to Kass, it was her love for him that unlocked her power.
He wonders what she thinks when she looks at him. He isn’t who he was Before, that much is obvious even to his blank slate of a mind, and he imagines it’s like seeing a stranger with the face of a friend and wondering why they aren’t your friend, why they’re different.
Why they’re not her Hero.
“Hey,” Link tries to smile, keeps his voice soft. He offers her one of the bowls. “Endura Shroom Stew? I hope you like carrots.”
“Yes,” her polite grimace flickers onto her face as she takes the bowl. He notices how her hands shake beneath the weight of it. “Carrots are fine.”
She can barely walk on her own, her muscles atrophied from the century she spent frozen, battling Ganon in a war of magical wills. Even standing up or sitting down seems to leave her sore and out of breath. But Zelda is stubborn and proud, Link has noticed. She doesn’t like to admit her weaknesses or failures, at least not to him. Not now. Not even when what ails her is just the weight of her dinner.
He’d hold it for her if she asked, but she won’t ask.
“I think…” he falters, staring ahead at the Dueling Peaks. “There’s a stable just past the Peaks. I could use the slate, teleport to it, and bring back my second horse for you to ride. We’ll get to Kakariko by tomorrow night.”
His first horse, Spots, was killed in the fight against Dark Beast Ganon. When he took his final shot, leaping off of her saddle with the help of Revali’s Gale, Ganon released one last wave of dark energy. It tore straight through Hyrule Field, splitting the ground beneath him, and turned Spots to ash. The only reason he wasn’t caught in the crossfire was Rhoam’s paraglider; One last save from the dead man who helped him gather his bearings on the Great Plateau, who trained him to use the slate and save his daughter.
His daughter, Zelda, who nods and says, “All right.”
“I’ll do it in the morning,” he tells her. “I don’t want to leave you alone out here.”
The monsters may have vanished from Hyrule Field, but there’s nothing saying they’ve vanished from all of Hyrule. They tend to wander in packs, especially the silver and black bokoblins, and who’s to say they won’t come here, looking to avenge their master and instead find the princess who killed him?
“Thank you,” she murmurs, looking down at her bowl. “I don’t like being alone anymore.”
Link holds his breath. “Neither do I.”
There’s a weak breeze that makes Zelda’s teeth chatter. She clings to her bowl of stew, bringing it close to her chest, curling around it as if it’s the only source of heat she has.
“Here,” Link gets up and walks over, sitting next to her under the tree. He’s always run hot, and the way she gravitates towards his side makes him smile as he starts drinking his stew. “I’d give you some Rito gear, but then you’d be sweating instead.”
“Thank you,” she repeats, and sips some of hers, humming in what sounds like surprise. “This is quite good.”
He’s just surprised she ate. This is her first time in a hundred years. “Was I not a good cook?”
She breathes a laugh. “Goddesses, no. Neither was I. Impa made and packed our meals like we were her children.”
He hums, trying to imagine the ancient woman who sits on a tower of pillows handing him a brown paper bag with his name written on it.
“Endura Shroom,” she says, covering her mouth as she talks with it full. She swallows, then continues, “Do we need energy for something?”
“So I can keep watch,” he explains. “Look out for any straggling monsters or Yiga Clan that might have seen that you’re free.”
He doesn’t add that he wants to be up in case she wakes screaming like she had last night, so he can get to her and calm her down quickly, or so he knows she’s really safe, that he succeeded in his task, and that the Calamity is finally gone.
“Oh,” she nods. “Do you really think we’ll be attacked?”
“I don’t know. I’d rather be paranoid than dead.”
It’s blunt, he knows it is, but she takes it in stride, nodding again and taking another sip of stew.
They finish their meals in silence. Link takes Zelda’s bowl when she’s done, notices she’s only ate half of an already small portion.
“I might throw up if I eat any more,” she’s quick to explain, as if she thinks he’s offended she didn’t lick the bowl clean like he’s done with his. “A century of starvation, no water or rest...It’ll take me a while to get used to eating and drinking, walking, needing to sleep, being...real again.”
He nods, sets her bowl aside to finish later, when he needs a boost. Who is he to question her? “Okay.”
Zelda’s eyelids are already fluttering, her head coming to rest on his shoulder. Link watches her fight it, wants to wrap his arm around her and hold her close or guide her head to his lap so she’ll at least sleep in a comfortable position, but that’s a privilege he’s sure he only had Before. To do anything but what he’s doing now would be torturing her.
Zelda sleeps, her breaths deep and even, and Link stares up at the stars, praying her slumber is peaceful, and waiting for the sun to rise.
He can’t wait for her to meet Spots Junior.

You said you were looking for writing prompts so how about a reverse AU type of thing where Prince Link enters a Rito archery competition disguised as a Rito (in a rito mask because the King doesn't want him fighting or competing so he does it in secret) and beats Revali (by one point) before disappearing. Now Revali is obsessed with finding out the identity of the Rito who beat him because he may or may not want to settle the score (ie court him.)
Oml I love this so much. I kinda deviated from the og idea a little bit just to work with what was going on in my head. I hope it’s okay. Also thank you to my Revalink discord friends for helping me some ideas for how to link (hehe, link) scenes, i was mega stuck for a hot minute.
I decided to split this into two parts.
(low key should I put this on Ao3?)
Italics is sign language
Word count: 1595
Ship: Revalink, Revali/Link
"Are you sure this will work?" Link asked, surveying the merchants many elixirs.
"Positive! I've tested them me'self. That elixir there will turn you into a Rito. Twenty four hours guaranteed."
Nodding, Link dropped a bag of rupees onto the counter. "I'll take five."
The merchant grinned, inspecting his new riches. "Pleasure doing business with you young man."
Link pocketed the elixirs, and hopped up onto his rented horse. The steed pulled against the reigns willfully, and Link wished Epona wasn't as recognizable as she was.
It wasnt hard to miss his royal steed, and if he had brought her he would be caught for sure.
No, he couldn't be caught. He needed to know whether his nightly training was worth it. He needed to know if he could beat the greatest archers in Hyrule.
~~
Seeing the tall rocky formation from the stable was a great relief to the prince, as the long ride had tired him out. He dropped his horse off, and walked to a nearby pond. He squeezed his eyes shut and drank the elixir.
He probably shouldnt have been as shocked as he was when he looked at his reflection. Golden feathers speckled with light blue covered his whole body. Lifting his hand- or his wing to his light blue beak, he opened and closed his mouth in amazement.
Backing away from the pond, he stumbled a bit on his taloned feet. "How do Ritos walk like this?" Link thought, as he started his way to the village.
~~
The older inspected the small boy up and down. "You're quite small to he in an archery competition... are you sure you can even pull back the string?"
Links feathers puffed up, embarrassed. "Yes I can..."
The Rito laughed. "Whatever you sat kid... What's your name?"
"Link." He said without thinking.
"Ah... same name as the pretty boy prince of Hyrule huh? Not exactly a common name is it?"
Link hesitated. "Right.".
The Rito waved him past the check in, towards the range. "Good luck."
Sighing, releaved, Link went over to pick out a bow. The range supplied bows so that no ones would have an opportunity to cheat.
"These are worthless pieces of crap" a voice announced near Link.
Turning to see who had spoken, Link saw a dark blue Rito, inspecting the bows.
"My bow is far superior to any of these... used bows..." the words dripped from the dark blue Rito's mouth as if he was talking about some muck on the bottom of his shoe.
"Isn't that the point though? That we all have the same quality bows?" Link inquired, curious as to why this Rito found used bows so repulsive.
"Tsk, and I suppose you also believe that it's not about winning it's about having fun." Sarcasm leaked from every word.
Link flushed, choosing to just pick up a bow and walk away. As he walked away he could feel the blue feathered Ritos eyes burning a hole in his back.
~~
Link lined up with the other Rito, feeling utterly dwarfed by their height. He somehow kept his julian height, and was at least a head shorter than most others around him.
The blue Rito he'd ran into before was a few spaces away from him, also looking quite short next to his competitors.
The older Rito he'd talked to earlier stepped in front of the lineup. "The rules are simple. Furthest away from the target is eliminated. Missing the target is automatic disqualification, as is cheating. Good luck."
Taking a deep breath, Link adjusted his stance. This would be where he found out whether all of his training in secret was worth it.
Adjusting his stance, Link lifted the bow. It was heavier than he was used to, but his feathers seemed better adjusted to hold the weight. He pulled back the string, and let the arrow fly.
His arrow slammed in the second outer circle. Link smiled, proud that he was still in the competition.
"Tsk." Link heard to the left of him. That Rito he'd talked to earlier was looking at his target with distaste.
He had hit in the center circle, closer to a bullseye than any of the other targets. Yet he looks disappointed.
"Oh c'mon Revali, you'll get it next time." Teased the Rito next to him.
Link looked away, this Rito was too cocky for Link's taste. He nocked an arrow, preparing for the next round.
~~
Round after round passed, Link becoming more and more comfortable with each arrow.
At last, he and one final Rito, Revali, were the only two left standing. The Rito shot him an overexaggerated, unimpressed look.
"Well I suppose we should just pack it up now... I can't imagine this will be too difficult."
Link clenched his jaw in annoyance.
"Nothing to say oh short one? Very well then." Revali turned back towards the target, tugging on the bow string lightly.
Link shook his head, turning back to the targets as well. He wouldn't let this overconfident Rito ruin this. He took a deep breath, pulling back the string.
Thunk
The echo of an arrow slamming into a tree. But it wasn't Link's arrow.
Revali was staring in shock at his arrow, stuck firmly in a tree a few feet away from his target. Link's own arrow was planted less than an inch from the center.
He had won.
"No! That was a mistake, I demand a redo!" Revali insisted, feathers fluffed up in annoyance. It might have looked cute if Link didn't know it was him the Rito was angry at.
"Revali you missed... meaning you lose... just accept it." A Ritos voice popped up from the side.
Shooting a glare that could kill, Revali slammed the bow back into the stand, and took off in the direction of the village.
After a moment of awkward silence, Link was crowded in a large mass of Rito congratulating him. He tensed, not used to having to being so crowded. Life in the castle was mostly him doing his duty of preparing to be king someday. His assigned knight and best friend Zelda and his father were the only company he was used to having.
~~
Revali POV
Landing in the flight range, Revali cursed under his breath. "Those ridiculous bows... they're not the right adjustments... it's their fault."
He supposed the small Rito was a good opponent. Certainly was interesting compared to the usual supposed competition he crushed.
The way he held the bow was interesting as well, it resembled the bow hold of a Hylian. Perhaps he grew up near a Hylian settlement. Though that was highly unlikely. Not many Rito strayed from the village that they grew up in. Many would leave the roost and travel for a few years, but they most always returned to the village to let their family grow.
Revali smiled as an idea came over him. “Perhaps I could convince him to a rematch. Certainly he wouldn’t want anyone questioning the legitimacy of his win.”
Climbing into his hammock, Revali was satisfied that this would solidify his win, and prove that he was still the greatest archer the Rito had ever seen.
~~
The village the next morning was buzzing with news that the great Revali had finally met his match. It took everything in him not to stop and tell the gossipers the truth, that the yellow Rito’s win was nothing but a fluke on the fault of his bow.
He took a deep breath and steeled himself. Find the Rito first, then prove that it was a mistake.
“Would you happen to know where that Rito would be? I would like to apologize for my outburst yesterday.” Revali lied through his beak.
“You just missed him.” The gossiper said, looking at him with- Oh dear Hylia that better not be pity he saw in her face. “The lad checked out of the inn not an hour ago, walked in the direction of the stable.”
Nodding, the blue Rito climbed up to one of the landing decks, and flew in the direction of the stable. Surely he would be able to catch his competitor before he got too far away. After all, not all birds had his gale.
~~
Revali was frustrated. Not only was his competitor not at the stable. But no one had actually seen him leave the stable. The only thing to go by was that apparently his name was Link.
The last sighting of him was when he arrived at the Rito stable, yet no one had seen him leave.
Eventually Revali gave up. Moved on, he claimed. If anyone asked, he would deny that thoughts of the mysterious archer graced his thoughts every day.
And it was definitely because revali was angry about his mess up, not because he wanted to know how soft the others feathers were. It definitely wasn't because he was attractive. No, definitely not.
Shakes head head, Revali turned over in his hammock. It did no good to lose sleep over someone hed never see again.
But here he was, the day before he was to depart for Hyrule castle, thinking about that elusive Rito.
As the winner of first place seemed to be long gone, Revali was supposed to show off his skills to the royalty in Hyrule castle for winning second place. Perhaps king would be impressed and offer him a place in the castle.
Who was he kidding, of course the king would be impressed, he was the great Revali after all.

and even more revalink hcs from this post part 6
previous hc part 5 x i'm too lazy to tag the other ones, just go through this one 😭 i haven't done one of these in a bit so i'm doing this for funsies 😹
who's the primary protector of the two?
hard to say, since they're both warriors with protective instincts, and link had to have learned some survival skills & instincts in botw
neither of them ever rest really, constantly on their guard because they're not letting anyone get the slip on them
i imagine that maybe they bicker over who gets to protect the other, always insisting that they'll be the one to save the other 😹
who sleeps in and who is the early bird?
i think we should know by now where i stand on this 😹
i am the self-proclaimed #1 sleepy link x coddler revali enthusiast. you know damn well i am tucking that blond twunk into a soft comfy bed (the bed being revali)
who is the least patient?
hard to pin down as a generalization, because it's circumstantial between the two of them imo
like we all know link would stare into a campfire all night just to be able to hunt the best game at the exact crack of dawn
but revali is very thoughtful and methodical to me. i just reviewed his diary and the cb memory, and it's clear that his dedication to the craft warrants a lot of strategy, perseverance, and patience. he can be incredibly patient for the things that matter most to him
(i also really like the idea that revali would be very patient with fledglings 🥺 gordon ramsey type beat)
that being said, both revali and link will have a breakdown trying to assemble a single chair from ikea. they insist that the furniture is cursed but zelda assembles it in less than five minutes
which of the two listens to old music and which one is more into the newer stuff?
to me, revali seems like he would enjoy classical music, and classic pop & rock in general. anything before the 2000's, revali can get into
projecting a portion of my own music taste onto revali, he fucks with songs like 'stitches and burns' by fra lippo lippi, 'i melt with you' by modern english, and 'true' by spandau ballet. i will not be taking any criticism at this time 🙏
meanwhile link's playlist is jumping from 'good lookin'' dixon dallas to 'planet of the bass' to 'ETA' newjeans. and he finds all of it unironically genius
who's the first one to quit a new hobby because they're not great at it on the first try?
my instinct was to say revali, but the thing is, revali holds a great insecurity in wanting to be the best, and it's difficult to do that when you're dating Mr. Link Master-At-Everything-He-Tries over here
so if he's not automatically good at it but link is, you better bet your entire ass that revali is learning that shit out of spite to be better or at least just as good at it as link is
bitches can't even have like a couple hobby, everything turns into a competition if it's revali and link ✋😭
who holds a grudge the longest?
revali of course
a while ago, i made a post about how i hc'd revali to be a capricorn sun virgo rising, and i kinda still stand by that. he'll take anything to be a personal slight against him, will block you on everything, and talk shit about you to anyone. petty ahh mf
link just doesn't seem like the type to hold grudges, he's kinda goldfish brain. he'll forget he was even mad at you 15 minutes later
who secretly knows all the lyrics to the other's favorite songs but refuses to expose themselves?
revali actually 🥺
link soaks up melodies and lyrics like a sponge, so he has no problem picking any one of revali's playlists and knowing every single song on there, he will sing his heart out to each song on that damned playlist
revali is a bit of a music snob and isn't always the biggest fan of link's taste in music (as per #4 in this list LOL)
but he tries really hard to memorize link's favorites even if he fucking hates the song, which results in revali practicing korean just to be able to sing fucking 'gangnam style' psy with link 😭
who's more likely to cry about a plant dying?
link hands down. this guy gets overly attached to inanimate objects fr
bro is the type to bump into the corner of a table and be like "oops, sorry mr. table, didn't mean to hit you"
zelda once sent link a bouquet of flowers she had grown herself, and link put them in a nice little vase, made sure they got sunlight and water every day, and gave each flower names
when one of the flowers started wilting, link was about to have a whole breakdown
revali comes home to link trying to perform surgery on a flower, like why it got a whole iv drip bag now???
which of the two is the most outspoken? which of the two is quick to speak and which one is quick to listen?
these were actually two separate questions but i decided to mix them, bc i think it's pretty clear who's who
revali is more outspoken and quick to speak, he's confidently opinionated and will mansplain to you unfortunately. he's not afraid to tell you what he thinks, because he thinks he's always right. very much the type to tell you he's just being brutally honest as an excuse to a dick skjdhfkdj
link is soft-spoken, reserved, and a listener, he'll let you take the lead on the conversation or listen you out completely before saying anything.
as such, revali is the one berating the cashier for putting pickles on link's burger when he said he didn't want any 😹
and honestly? link just likes hearing revali's voice, so he's content with letting revali talk his head off as long as they get to cuddle or hold hands.

Yo what if the Champions’ spirits stuck around long enough to train the next gen? Hcs for that?
*blows dust off of ask* Sorry this took so long, hope you weren’t too comfy sitting in my inbox there. Alrighty! Time for some
Training Montages *Rocky Theme Plays* (Headcanons)
Credit to @champion-of-the-sky for some help with the hcs
Ok, the first part of this post it just gonna be some of my thoughts into how the Divine Beasts actually work, because that’s kinda of necessary information if you wanna train them. So here is another one of my big boi head canon posts because sometimes I can’t shut up.
So firstly, the Divine Beasts can draw immense power from Hyrule which is stored over time and charges their giant laser thingys (Naboris draws power from the earth and makes electricity, Ruta takes in water from the atmosphere, Rudania is fire boy, Medoh has wind and thermal (from the atmosphere) generators, etc. etc.)
The Ancient Sheikah were like “hey wow these are really powerful beasts so maybe we should make sure that no one unworthy gets their hands on them”
Their solution was to have a spiritual bond between the beast and the pilot. Each Divine Beast has their own “soul” or personality and can judge someone of being worthy of piloting them. And only that person would have the power to use the Divine Beast to its full potential (AKA use the giant Anti-Ganon lasers)
Ergo, the Champions
When the died 100 years ago, their spirits stuck around because Ganon need to trap their spirits in order to get the Divine Beasts to actually work
[And then this would be a good segue-way into that cool idea where the Link has to fight the Champions taken over by malice, instead of the blights. BUT we’re not talking about that today]
Ok, so you know the story. Link frees the Divine Beasts from Ganon’s grasp. The spirits of the dead Champions command a legendary blow against the blight of Hyrule. Zelda and Link help save the day. Yay!
HOWEVER! The Champions are still there, their spirits persist.Turns out their spirits cannot go away, because the Divine Beasts don’t really wanna go without an owner, considering they’ve been controlled by Ganon for 100 years, so fair.
Basically, the Beasts wont let the spirit of their old pilots go until they find a suitable successor
Enter, new gen Champs!
Daruk/Yunobo
Training with a Divine Beast is not unlike trying to form a bond with a real animal. In fact, the Beasts do behave with a mind of their own, so that might as well be an on point analogy
Daruk struggled with Rudania because its personality was very stubborn and blunt, much like the Goron race anyhow. As said in my other post, Rudania’s personality clashes with the playful and loving nature of Daruk
The only reason Daruk even got the handle on things was becuase Link forced him to spend a whole day in the Divine Beast. We can only speculate that from that time, Daruk must have somehow formed a mutual respect or protective bond with the giant lizard
So essentially, when he’s training Yunobo, he does the exact same thing
“You just gotta walk around for a bit, Yunobo. Get a feel for ol’ Rudania. They’re a grump, but you’ll get along.”
“G-get a feel? We’re surrounded by lava! What if I mess up? What if your Divine B—”
“Your, Divine Beast”
“Right, right… but what if it doesn’t like me and tips my into Death Mountain’s core!”
Daruk gives a hearty laugh. “Kid, you helped save ol’ Ruddy from Ganon, remember? You’ve already got a good bond going. So just walk around for a bit and just take ‘em all in. Good luck!”
And he slams the door behind him, leaving Yunobo in the dark
But he’ll eventually get around to forming a bond. But Rudania’s probably a little grumpy that they’ve gone from reckless pilot who laughs too much, to timid teenager gifted with a powerful champion ability that he is self-conscious about
Daruk is hella encouraging with Yunobos training. The kid will eventually be the second best with his Beast. Daruk is patient with Yunobo because he sees himself in him. And he also teaches him some cool tricks like if you tilt Rudania just right, you get a cool slip and slide ramp that’s perfect for the hot springs
Urbosa/Riju [not a lot for these guys bcs I’m lazy and this post is long anyway]
Urbosa would be playful with Riju when they train, making goofy jokes about things, letting out a quick joke to lessen and tension Riju might feel from her anxiety to lead her people. At the same time, she also explains things with good detail
Riju is third best with her beast. Occasionally, she’ll be intimidated by Naboris’ strength and power, especially considering she had an incident with Patricia the Sand Seal back when it was shooting lightning everywhere
However, she’s the one to ask the most questions, half of which Urbosa can’t answer. She’s got that childish curiosity that serves well in her understanding of Naboris
Mipha/Sidon [also not a lot because using your imagination can be hard]
Mipha and Sidon just act like siblings, much to both of their delight. It’s less of training, and more of catching up on everything over the last a hundred years on top of a giant elephant.
Because they’re siblings, Mipha pulls little pranks on her little brother on purpose. But neither are really annoyed by it, as they both laugh it off
Like Mipha will tell Sidon to stand in a certain spot to see how the parts of Ruta move. Then she makes Ruta move in such away to splash the poor prince in gallons of water
You’re gonna ruin his handkerchief Mipha!
Sidon is the best at managing his Divine Beast out of the four, for not only does he have a strong bond with the previous pilot, but he gets along well with Ruta’s playful personality
Revali/Teba
Local birds butt heads because they’re both egotistical idiots
Revali continues to be as dramatic as usual, while also maintaining his image by claiming that Teba will probably never master Medoh as well as him
Teba respects Revali given that he was his childhood hero. Yet at the same time Revali isn’t exactly what he expected, and he’s not down to take this sass from a teenager
Perfect storm of dumb banter, because both have reluctance in the whole situation
Teba gives out a groan, frustrated. “Argh! This damn bird wont start its propellers. How do I get it to work?”
“Perhaps Medoh is still tired. After all, you’ve been complaining none stop all day.”
“Right, my voice is the problem.”
“Why don’t you sing her a lullaby, she’s probably so sleepy.”
Teba scoffs, “You’re kidding. There’s no way that would work. Beside, there’s no way I’m sing—”
“Why don’t you hold your tongue, my dear apprentice,” another groan escapes Teba, “You’re going to hurt Medoh’s feelings with that attitude. Tulin is your son, yes? Surely you’ve sung a tune or two back in his fledgling days?”
“Sure, but I’m not gonna—”
“Medoh wants to hear you s i n g~”
Revali is strict with his training, and Teba probably struggled with Medoh the most out of the four, considering that before Link came along, he had the mindset of killing Medoh.
Teba still repescts everything Revali is doing, making sure to call him “Master Revali.” And though he would never admit it, Revali’s feathers would always fluff with pride at the notion of it
Also he’s gonna call Teba his pupil/apprentice throughout the entire session
Angsty moment: when each Champion thinks their apprentice is ready, THAT’S the time they get their final rest and their spirits move on. Like, imagine Sidon wanting to Master Ruta to make his sister proud, but at the same time the day he does is when she is gone for good.
That looks like a good note to end off of! So yay :)

Mutual Feelings Pt. 10, [Revali x Reader]
Summary: Read it yourself, lazy
The sun was unbearable. It had been a minute since you last visited Gerudo and the desert was even hotter than you last remembered. The City was cooler, but when you couldn’t bear to be within the City walls knowing you would have to sneak out at night, it was off limits. There was no way you were going to have the guards stopping you as you left only for Urbosa or one of the others to find out what you were doing. They’d think you were insane. To risk your life in the Yiga and monster-infested desert, especially at night, for a mythical flower would be idiotic.
Kara Kara was as lively as you recalled. With tired travelers lining the oasis, horny boys looking to sneak into Gerudo City, and hustlers insisting you purchase their goods it made for quite the atmosphere. Urbosa and Daruk greeted everyone with open arms as you pulled a small container from your satchel and handed it to Mipha. She cocked her head to the side, eyeing the thick liquid quizzically.
“It’s for your skin. It’ll protect against the sand and heat. Plus, you’ll be able to safely travel in the desert if needed without worry of dehydration.”
She nodded, securing it to her side, before turning her attention to the princess who was laying out the game plan. Zelda spoke quietly, wanting the conversation to remain as inconspicuous as the group could possibly be. There was no way to ensure clan members weren’t around and listening.
“I think we should split into two groups. One led by Urbosa, one by Revali.” Revali agreed with the princess, the suggestion inflating his ego. “Urbosa knows the desert better than anyone and Revali can easily navigate the skies if you get lost.”
“Sounds good t’ me!” Daruk pounded his hand on his chest.
“I’ll be traveling with Urbosa and Link… Mipha, would you mind joining us?” Mipha opportunely agreed to her request. “That leaves Revali with Daruk and [Name].”
“A good choice in pairing.” Urbosa noted, a knowing smirk on her face as she eyed you. “We should leave as soon as possible. The desert gets cold at night. I suggest we meet at the Outpost before sunset to report what we find.”
Traveling with Daruk and Revali proved to be difficult. Daruk could easily work his way through the sand but threw up large clouds in his wake. It was just your luck that you happened to be behind him. No matter the direction you stood, you struggled with the bits of dust and dirt that were attracted to your burning tear ducts. Revali flew from above, remaining suspended in the air just out of the sand’s gritty grasp.
Your shoes weren’t crafted for desert travel. They sunk down with each step and pulled a pound of sand up with them. At some point in the day, you became separated from the two. You could see Daruk’s cloud appear and disappear as he rolled through the desert. He stopped a few times near what looked like shrines. They shifted and waved in the excruciating heat. Revali vanished in the sky too, dipping down every now and again as he likely did what Daruk was doing.
You were perfectly fine being alone at this time. You had a different mission, a different undisclosed mission. Sand had not yet permeated the pages of your journal. By the end of the day, you imagined you would be brushing the thing out. You can only imagine how long you’ll be finding the stuff crushed and stuck down in the page’s crevices.
According to the book Sopho gave you, the flower should bloom in or near an oasis. It should be uplifted from the ground, on a plateau for example. This is to provide it with the best possible protection against those who wish to harvest its power. You squinted, brushing the line of sweat that dripped from your brow as you studied the pages. It was almost impossible to read your handwriting in the blinding daylight.
“Studying on the job, eh?” Revali appeared out of nowhere, taking his wing to block the sunlight from your eyes as you pivoted to see him. He wore his typical smirk. “You should be searching for shrines.”
“It’s hard to when your whole team leaves you in the dust,” you rubbed your eye, “literally.”
“I am surprised Urbosa assigned you to join Daruk and I, considering we’re the fastest travelers of the bunch. And you, well,” he put his other arm on his hip, “you’re a bit slow.”
“My bad Hylian’s don’t have a fast travel system. Some of us can’t fly or roll really fast.” The hand at your eyes continued rubbing.
“Stop doing that.” Revali scolded, moving to hold on your arm. “You’ll scratch your eye.” Still seizing your arm, he rustled through his own bag to pull a small canteen of water. “Look up at me, keep your eyes open.”
Doing as he said, you focused your gaze on him as he worked diligently to remove the cap and grasp lightly under your chin. He steadied your head, eyes flickering from yours elsewhere. When the chilled water poured from the cap, you flinched.
“Hold still, or I’ll leave you with sand in your eyes.” He instructed, grip tightening on your chin. “I imagine the walk back would be difficult when you go blind.” His hold lessened as he washed the dust from your eyes, and finally let go when he was pleased with his work. He stood back, moving to return to his former position of sun-blocker. Blinking the remaining water away, you wiped your face and dried your eyes with the loose fabric of your shirt.
“Thanks.”
“My pleasure.”
“Revali?” You started, waiting for an acknowledging hum in response. “What did you want to say a few days ago at the castle?”
His head rose, chin lifting to aim his gaze upward. He took a deep breath as if thinking over the events of that night, before deciding against it and exhaling loudly. “Nothing you need to worry about. Some things go better unsaid.”
“It’s not good to keep secrets.”
“Interesting that you’re the one lecturing me on that. It’s not a secret, just,” he stopped, biting the inside of his mouth, “an observation. Anyway,” he motioned to the vast desert ahead of you. “Shall we?”
Traveling with Revali while he was on foot was strange. He walked slower to match your pace strutting about with his arms behind his back. The majority of his time was spent with closed eyes, not even attempting to locate anything. Maybe he actually enjoyed the heat. Daruk was nowhere to be seen, and likely wouldn’t be rejoining the group. He had told the two of you he may go rogue but be assured he’d find his way back. If not, Revali could find him with ease.
“Why aren’t you searching for shrines?” You asked, folding your book closed before tucking it back into your satchel.
“Why aren’t you?”
“I’m trying, but like I said… it’s kind of hard.”
“You and I both know,” he stopped walking, “we’ve identified all the shrines in this desert.” He continued on toward a rock in the distance. “So why are we all out here today? Simply to waste time? Or mayhaps to appease the princess’s desire for adventure?”
“I’d say the latter.”
“Well, at least we’ll be returning with some information.” He pulled out his own notebook and tossed it in your direction. You scrambled to catch it, becoming annoyed to a chuckle that escaped his lips. “We’ll turn this in and call it a day. The princess can barely comprehend my calligraphy anyway.”
“Is it because it looks like you coated your talons with ink and stomped on the page?” You twisted and turned the pages this way and that, trying to read what on earth he wrote. It looked like chicken scratches. “Is this really the best you can do?”
“No, but it’s the most work I’ll put in on something we’ve already done.”
“Thank Hylia, I’m not receiving letters from you.” You handed it back to him. “I would never figure out what you remotely wanted to say.”
“Like you wouldn’t want letters from me?”
“I’d want legible letters.”
“So, you admit that you would enjoy receiving a letter from me.” He hummed to himself, pleased with his ability to talk circles around you. “I’ll have to drop one in the post when I return to the Village.”
“I don’t,” you defeatedly sighed, “shut up.”
The sun moved slowly through the crystal blue sky, hiding behind clouds every now and again before peeking back out to warm the land. Walking with Revali was becoming unusually relaxing. He spoke every now and again, bringing up the few oases that littered the dry sandy Sahara. You took mental notes of their locations, deciding that the Southern Oasis matched the description of where the flower would bloom. It was only 6 hours until your window of opportunity would open. You wouldn’t miss it.
“I’m calling it a day.” Revali said as he spied Kara Kara in the near distance.
“I don’t feel like we accomplished anything.”
“I could leave you out here if you truly wish to continue this hike.”
The rest of the Champions waited at the Outpost. Gathered outside, they were enjoying a platter of refreshing fruit purchased from a delighted hustler back in Kara Kara. Zelda and Mipha both looked exhausted, lying on their backs next to one another, shielding their eyes from the now-setting sun. Daruk was content, chattering away with Link about how “the food is good, but not nearly as good as what Goron City has.” Urbosa sat quietly, satisfied with the sounds of the palm tree leaves rustling against one another as the nightly breeze set in.
“You two enjoy yourselves?” She asked, the same smug smirk on her lips. “You took quite the walk out there.”
“We gathered what information we could.” Revali handed Zelda his notebook, appeased when she interestedly started ruffling through the pages.  “I, for one, would greatly appreciate turning in for the night.”
“I second that!” Mipha laughed, sitting up and resting her arms on the ground to support her. “The desert is so different from the Domain.”
“Well, it’s made of sand, dear.” Revali noted, bringing a hearty laugh from Daruk who slapped Link on the back, prompting him to politely join in.
Zelda, Urbosa, and Mipha all retired to the safety of the City after a small feast was brought out to the Outpost for everyone. Daruk and Link wanted to sleep outside near the door, resting on the large rock that served as a foundation for the Outpost. Revali opted to claim the tower as his, cozying up at the top. That left you with the one bed inside.
“Are you sure you don’t want to join us inside?” Mipha asked, pulling the loose wool blanket closer to her body as she, Zelda, and Urbosa started for Gerudo. “It will be much colder out here. You should join us.” Zelda added.
“I want to go over my notes once more tonight. I’ll be less of a distraction out here. I don’t want my candle-light keeping you awake, especially after today.”
The girls nodded understandingly and left, but not before Urbosa could add her take. “Try not to spend too much time up on the tower, tonight. You’ll catch a cold.”
You pressed your hand to your blazing cheek, your hands cooling the skin to the touch. Why did she always have to make comments like that? She took enjoyment in making you blush.
Quietly, you closed the door to the Outpost, ensuring you hadn’t woken the two sleeping nearby. You watched as your footprints disappeared behind you as the harsh winds filled them with sand. Tugging the strap of the backpack up, you trudged forward. The Southern Oasis wasn’t too far away, maybe an hour’s walk at leisure, thirty minutes at a fast pace.
During the day, no group had reported on any sightings of the Yiga Clan or other dangerous monsters lurking in the desert. Night proved to be no different as you made your way peacefully to the oasis with no threats but the blowing wind and icy winds. It was different, the desert, at night. The moon illuminated each and every shadowy hill that you had to cross. There were no heat-caused waves or illusions of waterholes. There was only sand and sky.
The Oasis was difficult to climb, but you made it up after a few struggling minutes. There were glowing flowers all over the grassy plain. A small trickling stream cut through the middle of the plateau that hot-footed frogs took to with their chirping croaks melding together in the lively area. Crickets hopped from bushes into trees, hiding in the deep green brush.
The plateau was small, small enough to take off the carrying case for the flower and have no worries of losing it. You placed it down at your feet, twisting it into rest supported by the little sand that was up here. Opening it, you began examining each flower. The first had no gold speckling, as did the second, the third, the fourth, and fifth. The sixth was yet another silent princess, and the seventh was no different.
You sighed, having worked up a slight sweat. At this rate, you’d never find it. It had to be here. All signs pointed to this being its location: the oasis, the plateau, hell… even the desert.  After an hour of carefully inspecting the flowers, your eye was caught by the slight gold glitter of something in the corner of your eye. It shone and sparkled like a diamond, the moonlight bounced off its petals, reflecting like a thousand mirrors on the palm leaves. There was something almost ethereal about it. The way it gave off light where there was none was magnificent. That had to be it.
Carefully, you scooped your fingers into the dirt, unbothered as it dug beneath your nails. Carrying it slowly, you lowered it into the case and gathered water from the oasis to pour into the bottom compartment. The walk back would feel longer than that out there. You had no more drive now that the mythical flower was in your possession. You felt like you could finally relax. She would be okay.
Your feet hit the ground below the plateau, indenting in the sand. Each step back seemed longer and longer as you slogged back with a considerably heavier pack attached to your back. When the ground rumbled, you shrugged it off as exhaustion finally getting to you. When it rumbled for the second time, you assumed it to be a small earthquake. They weren’t uncommon in Hyrule. A guttural growl alerted you to it being more than a natural occurrence. The large lump that slunk below the sand, causing you to rise as it swam below, confirmed it wasn’t natural.
There were no monsters lurking in the desert, at least there were no monsters you knew of other than lizalfos and the occasional bokoblin that lost its way. A monster than used sand like water was new to you. You watched as it swam away, only to turn in your direction and charge at full speed.
You ran faster than you ever had before. Adrenaline pumped through your veins as your legs threatened to lock beneath you. Your knees ached from the trek you made at day, and your ankles burned to high hell. It felt as if your shoes had been set on fire. Your arms weighed down on you, quickly turning to ten-pound weights that threatened to topple you over. The Outpost was still a mile away. You could vaguely make out the outline of Daruk peeking out from the front corner.
The strap to the case harboring the flower loosened, prompting you to swing it to the front of your body. You hugged it tightly to your chest.
You continued running.
Your knees locked.
You fell.
The monster approached fast, the sound of sand falling like water was the only thing you could hear.
You closed your eyes.
A horrific, excruciating sound of agony howled through the desert. The sound echoed off the mountain walls in the distance, bouncing around in the canyon. The ground shook once more before all was still. Opening your eyes, you pulled the case closer as if to hide behind it. There stood Revali, breathing heavily as he lowered his bow. His back facing you.
“What on earth were you thinking?” He asked calmly, not daring to look in your direction. His voice slowly rose becoming furious. “Are you brain dead? Sneaking out at night like some foolish teenager. Leaving the safety of the Champions. For what?” You could see the rage in his eyes when he finally found the courage to face you. “If nothing, this proves you aren’t meant to travel among us. This type of recklessness will not be tolerated any longer after your last incident. What is so important it means dying?”
You opened your mouth to speak but was met with him cutting you off.
“No, I don’t want you to speak.” He huffed. “You’re an idiot.” He pursed his lips, eyes tearing away from your fallen figure. “Come on.” He began walking back to the Outpost. “Come on or I’ll leave you here for the next thing to kill.”
Silently, you pushed yourself from the ground, not bothering to brush the dust from your clothes. Revali walked ten steps ahead, turning briefly now and again to make sure you were still following. He was fuming. You were tired. The eventful night only accelerated your exhaustion, making every movement feel like the last.
“I’m going to save you.” You reminded her as she beamed brightly at you.
“I know you will!”
“Oh yeah? How are you so confident?”
“Because you’re a Champion. Champion’s don’t let people down.”
The Outpost was quiet, unbothered by the shaking ground or loud sound that settled over the desert. Slinking inside behind Revali, you held your head low.
“Go to bed.” He instructed, folding his arms over his chest after he threw the blanket back. “Did you not hear me? I said,” he stopped.
Water streamed from your eyes, soaking the hem of your shirt as you focused on the still-glowing flower. Tears fell in big drops, leaving slick trails as they raced down your face. Everything came collapsing in as the mental barrier you had set up months ago fell. You promised yourself you wouldn’t cry no matter how difficult things became. The emotions, everything, you felt from the fear to the joy and the sadness that was pooling in your chest finally burst. The dam that contained this calamity of passion was crumbling. It felt good.
“Why are you crying?” Revali said in a hushed, more calming, tone. He crossed the room, taking the case from your quivering hands and placing it gently on the desk. You crashed to the floor, your knees giving out.
“She’s going to be okay.” You got out between sobs.
“She?” He contemplated before it all snapped into place. The puzzle pieces finally matched up. “Keumi.”
“She’s so sick, Revali.” Wiping at your eyes was futile, but you continued to do so. “She’s so sick, and that flower is going to save her. It’s going to cure all her hurt and pain… She can finally just be a kid.”
Without another word, he understood. Hesitantly, he took you in his arms, pulling your shaking figure close as he rested his head atop yours.  At some point, you moved to the twin-sized bed in the corner of the room. You relaxed into his chest, finding solace in the sound of his steady heartbeat.
“Why are you always so hard on yourself?” He wondered to himself, his voice coming out at no louder than the squeak of a mouse. He must have assumed you to be asleep. “I care about you, a lot.” A breath of air passed his lips as his heartbeat rose. “Of all people.” He tsked himself. “It had to be you.”
The two of you fell asleep, a calm peaceful sleep with no jittering kicks or unnerved grunts. It was quiet. It was nice.
“Have you seen [Name]?” Urbosa hollered from outside the Outpost to a groggy Daruk who shook his head and looked to Link who did the same. “Revali isn’t up on the tower, and I just worry that something…” She opened the wooden door to find a predictable scene, at least predictable to her. Rays trickled in from the window shades, the subtle glow giving the room enough light for her to make out the silhouettes of yours and Revali’s figures lying in the bed. The soft snores emitting from your direction made her smile.
“Find them?” Daruk rubbed his eye as Link rolled back over.
“No, but I’m sure they’re around here somewhere.”

Note
Hello, could I request hcs of what Revali would be like with a reader that happens to be links sister? Maybe she’s a champion too or something. Quiet like him (but just out of shyness), but certainly talks more then him and is very positive and kind. Maybe Revali try’s to just keep the crush secret, revealing it later?
(I haven’t finished Age of Calamity yet, i just finished the part where Zelda went to the spring of courage. I know Revali is still a butthead, but he’s still a favorite. I actually play his character Quite a bit. I find his play style easy)
I'm SO sorry if this took time, I was so busy with work, but now I'm kinda free and ready to write this.
And don't worry about AoC, I can use it as example but at the same time, no, you will understand it later.
Revali
At first, he thought you will be the same as Link.
You didn't talk that much and you were always behind Link
He thought that maybe you were worst then him, that you were even uncomfortable being near him.
But then... You speak
OH SHIT
THE FAMILY OF LINK CAN ACTUALLY TALK
It happened after the ceremony on the Hyrule Castle and the group photo.
Revali and Mipha fell due to Daruk, you almost fall too but you we're saved for Link.
Being fair, the big guy doesn't know how stronger he is, don't blame him.
After the scare, you we're worried for Mipha and Revali, Link helped Mipha to get up and you helped Revali.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt? Daruk, please do not to that again without warning, please, you probably hurt Revali and Mipha”
Revali at first is impressed, there's people that really care for him.
And then he realized, your voice was BEAUTIFUL.
You sounded so kind and sweet.
He was so perplexed by this new acknowledge that he didn't even realize he was staring at you.
“Revali... You are staring”
Haha feathers go FLUFF
He was embarrassed, like, REALLY EMBARRASSED
He make an excuse to go and he just flew away fast as he could.
The next few days he couldn't practice, the only thing that que can concentrate was your voice.
Extra extra! The Rito Champion is in love!
He wanted to hear your voice again, but there is a problem...
You didn't wanted to go even near to the other Champions, even if you were one of them.
Revali make multiple attempts to get closer to you, none of them work.
Well, yes and no.
His attempts of trying to show he was really skilled in archery, didn't work.
But when he attempt to ask you if you wanted to practice together, and accept, he felt like a dumb ass.
He just realized that you weren't interested on the character that he created it, you were interested on the real him.
Time passes and you two get more closer.
Yes, that also implies that the crush of Revali to you increases.
Sometimes you give him company when he is practicing and take care of him.
You don't like too much the cold of the Hebra Mountain and the nights on Rito Village are freezing.
So Revali let's you hug him, because feathers.
One time you fell asleep on him, he didn't move a muscle until you wake up.
Yes, he sometimes stares at you.
When you're not around, Urbosa makes fun of Revali for his obvious crush.
Link is going to take care of it, don't worry.
“Link, what are you going to do with the master sword? Link? LINK NO”
Link is ready to kill a b*tch that dares to hurt your heart or hurt you at all.
And so is Revali, he will snipe the sh*t out of anyone who dares to make you sad, upset or hurt you.
Or dares to flirt with you.
Revali is jelly jelly.
If you think that the destruction machine you have for brother already causes a lot of people to not talk to you for fear.
Now imagine Revali.
It's the same but he will destroy any person who tries to flirt with you eloquently.
He is really new for this crush thing and doesn't know what to do, he also does not know if you share the same feelings.
And that scares him ✨✨✨
It goes to his deepest insecurities, not being good enough.
So he will flirt with you much as he can until you get it.
But, not flirt like really annoying.
He is not much of compliments, he is more of actions of care.
Like: “Don't forget your things”, “Be careful, you can get hurt”, “I will help you with this” and more.
He might even call you with a nickname, but is kinda embarrassing for him when someone else is around.
I like to think that Revali will call you songbird or morning bird, it depends really what's your personality and interest
If you hug him without warning, his feathers will go puff
“Excuse me, when I give you permission to hug me? It's not even cold”
“But... Your feathers are so soft, I think I can hug you all day”
And that's how you reset a Rito.
Days passed and Revali still doesn't confess, so he decides to do it.
He prepares everything in order to make it perfect.
Then he confesses to you.
He is really worried and nervous, but he hides it really well.
Well... No but yeah
He can't help but just look at you all the time.
Normally I will put something like it doesn't matter if you reject him.
But in this account we simp for Revali, so we are legally obligated to NEVER reject his confession.
He is a happy short bird boy.
Of course, Link won't be a problem because he respects your decision.
Even if is his bird rival.
Cuddles for life?
Yeah... Cuddles for life.
I swear, I can feel the fluff from over here.
He normally doesn't let anybody enter Vah Medoh, except for the princess, but he makes an exception for you.
Now you know how to snipe the sh*t out of everyone with the bow.
He normally is really cocky with everyone, but also sweet and polite except Link, in some occasions.
But you? You have all his soft side
Cuddles? Of course, appreciation? Don't even ask, love? TAKE IT ALL

9. Work I’m most proud of (and why):
on our way to twenty-seven! i was digging into some identity and sexuality issues that i myself have dealt with in the past and writing about it was the first time i’d really dove into some of that stuff, so i really enjoyed writing it and i think it’s some of my best.
i’m also really proud of i’m taking back the crown and i wish i could say why. i just really like the way it came out. writing oikawa as this desperate dethroned prince trying to reclaim his kingdom at any cost only to be beaten at his own game in his own home was just...ugh. it was so much fun to write.
10. Work I’m least proud of (and why):
one more time as if we planned it, definitely. i just felt super rushed writing it. it was for the one direction rarepair fest, which was super fun, but i had Just finished a longer fic a few days before this one was due and i initially tried to drop out because i thought i wouldn’t be able to finish it, but i did, but i still feel like it’s rushed and just not as good as it could have been if i’d planned better and given it some more time.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
im gonna do what i did last year and post more than one, because 1. i can’t decide and 2. i quite honestly am pretty proud of a lot of what i wrote this year
from when the letter says a soldier’s coming home —
Tooru’s squealing somewhere behind them, and Hajime’s gruffly trying to get out the door, and he’ll have to call the school and make up something about being sick so he can spend the day catching up with Daichi, but it can wait. It can all wait. Because Koushi’s waited long enough. It’s about time the rest of the world waits for him.
from strawberries on a summer evening —
Suga hums against him, licking strawberry seeds from between Daichi’s teeth, like he’s just as intoxicated by Daichi as Daichi is with him. Daichi could live here, in this feeling, ignoring everything except how Suga sounds (like bliss personified), smells (like sunblock and sweat), tastes (like sugar and salt). He’s the hottest part of the summer, high noon in mid-August, just this side of too much to handle, but addicting in how it leaves you at its mercy.
from on our way to twenty-seven —
“Sorry, what was your name again?”
Tetsurou opens his mouth to say his American name, but he catches Daichi and Suga looking at him, and he swallows it down. “My name is Tetsurou. Tetsurou Kuroo.”
“I thought you wanted people to call you Tyler,” Timothy says.
Tetsurou shoots him a glare and says it again, feeling his confidence start to grow. “My name is Tetsurou Kuroo. Tetsu is fine, too, but I don’t go by Tyler anymore.”
12. Share or describe a favorite review you received:
any time tasteofsummersnow left me a comment, it made my heart go doki doki!! her comments are so in depth and so very sweet and it’s so much fun to see her real-time reactions to my writing. i go back and reread them like once a week they’re so nice ;_;
13. A time when writing was really, really hard:
the spring/early summer in general was tough, like from march to june. i didn’t post anything between february and may, and i feel like i was struggling a lot creatively around like may/june of this year. i think it’s because a lot of stuff in the 1d fandom was really turning me off at the time and that’s when the burnout fully hit.
14. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
definitely sugawara in the city is at war. i was writing that first chapter and initially i just wanted to see him step up when daichi wasn’t around but he very quickly turned sadistic and ruthless and scarily sharp, which is just so much fun to write him as. and his relationship with daichi is just—ugh. love that violence-fueled romance. they would kill a hundred men for each other and be turned on once they were finished.
honestly, all of the city is at war has surprised me. the idea came to me in a dream on a long bus ride, of all the clan leaders having a meeting and being attacked, and i woke up and banged it out in 36 hours. i meant it to be a oneshot but as i wrote it, i realized i loved the au so much there was no way i could leave it at that. so now it’s got a whole plot and all that. fun!
15. How did you grow as a writer this year:
last year i said i felt i grew writing angst and exploring different emotional themes, and i think i built on that even more this year. i did a bunch of shorter pieces this year and i feel a lot of them really explored emotions and characters more than plot, and that’s been so much fun. and then as well, like i said before, i’ve branched out into the crime-action genre with the yakuza au. and! iwaoi horror week was my first real attempt at spooky/creepy/horror-type writing, and, it was a fun challenge for sure.
i also said i wanted to just keep writing and be spontaneous and i definitely did that this year. i posted so many fics not caring how long it had been since the last one—sometimes it was less a day. numbers stopped mattering to me. i posted just because i wanted to put my writing out there and share it with the world, knowing there had to be someone out there who’d like it.
16. How do you hope to grow next year:
i feel like 2019 was a year of trying a lot of new things, so in 2020 i’m hoping to explore some different ships and tropes. the sheer number of characters and ships in haikyuu means there’s a ship for just about every trope and au out there, and i want to play around with some dynamics i’ve never written before.
17. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
as always, a shoutout to the loggies, who have been a fantastic source of inspiration and support all year even after i retired from 1d fic. and i would also like to thank the people i met via various hq discord servers—you know who you are!! thank you for the sprints, the encouragement, the inspiration, and the friendship. as someone brand new to the fandom, the support and sense of community has been nothing short of amazing, and you guys are part of the reason i felt so comfortable in this fandom so quickly.
18. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
actually, yeah. even mountains crumble into the sea was written the night before i broke up with my ex. i wrote it as an exercise to get all my feelings out, lay them all on the table where i could see them and pick through them, and then imagine the best possible way the scenario could go.
19. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
honestly—just write! write what you’re happy with. write even if you don’t post it. write, because everything you do is practice that’ll help you improve.
and don’t be afraid to write out of order or write more than one project at a time. i know that won’t work for everyone, but for me, if i didn’t immediately write what was on my mind, i probably wouldn’t have posted half of what i did this year.
20. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
hey remember last year when i said i was gonna finish the breath of the wild au?? L M A O i’m really gonna finish it next year i swear!!
i have a fic posting in the spring for the nsfw big bang which i’m ALSO very excited about! i’m lucky to be working with such a talented artist and the end result is gonna be amazing and i’m so so excited.
i also want to keep going with the city is at war, because that plot was a pleasant surprise. and there’s an ever-growing list of fic ideas and aus that i’m so excited to write—some of them were originally for larry aus but i’ve repurposed them for haikyuu pairings and that’s helped breathe new life into some old ideas.
