Aquila Review https://goo.gl/maps/tWPjEmoP5hGfVu5r5 Recommended by the Thailand Michelin Guide, Aquila is a small Italian restaurant with Thai fusion that perfectly combines the elements of home and fine dining. When picking restaurants to go to, I was hesitant to go to Aquila because I did not have an extreme amount of faith in the newly added elements of fusion cuisine to work, preferring traditional, authentic recipes. But, after my visit, I was glad I did. Prior to walking into the restaurant, I contacted them on Facebook and was met with a fast, efficient response. Upon entering the restaurant itself, I was shocked with the small size of the space, occupied by around four sets of table for four. However, the place was well-furnished with steel tables and wood chairs. I ordered the parma ham melon (190 Baht), Phubase's truffle gnocchi is here (350), snow fish (690), and the 1960s tiramisu. Prior to the meal, a basket of bread was served with, I am glad to say, a small dish of room-temperature butter, which is actually a rarity to see in the European restaurants I've been to in Chiang Mai. The parma ham melon came as a part of the chef's tasting menu, which provides the a la carte price of each dish. On the dish was balls of melon, tomato with a slice of parma ham on top, with the addition of raisins, feta cheese, sunflower sprouts, and olive oil. These new additions allowed each bite to be filled with contrasting flavours - saltiness, sweetness, and acidity. Next was the truffle gnocchi. As a person who previously despised the musky, sulphureous aftertaste of truffle, this dish has completely reversed my opinion. One sniff of the creamy mushroom sauce had me sighing in contentment. Each piece of gnocchi was nicely pan - fried. Paired with the mushroom sauce, the dish became something that would comfort both the stomach and the soul on a cold autumn day. However, in the summer day I was eating this in, the amount of fat in the dish made me feel slightly queasy. My favourite, the snow fish, utilized the concept of balance just perfectly. A firm piece of pan-fried snow fish is served in a plate full of sour, slightly spicy broth that was so good it could be a signature dish by itself. I am guessing the soup is a Thai twist on an Italian recipe, as it contained slight similarities with the iconic tom yum broth. The addition of the soup is a perfect counterpart to the slight fattiness of the fish. In truth, I usually regret ordering fish at European restaurants due to the overwhelming fattiness of the fish, making me glad I picked this restaurant out of other authentically Italian ones. Finally, the tiramisu. At that point, I was feeling slightly queasy, but I powered through. I did not regret it. Each bite was filled with creamy decadence, balanced with the aroma of coffee and slight hint of rum. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the staff were friendly. Aquila is highly recommended to anyone. Whether you're looking for a casual meal or fine dining, Aquila has something for you.

Update on Spare Me Your Mercy (Euthanasia) production
Today (28 August), we got a brief sneak peak at JJ and Tor on the set of Spare Me Your Mercy. JJ mentions that being on the filming set of SMYM is really fun with all the actors and not tiring (t/n: insane to me because their filming schedule is basically nonstop). They also celebrated JJ's birthday (15 August) on set while filming. JJ hopes fans will look forward to SMYM when it comes out because he's sure it's an interesting story.
source: clip from a segment of a show promoting JJ's restaurant in Chiang Mai
Additional latest updates
27 August - Director Wo updated that they've reached Day 28 of filming.
28 August - Tor's manager tweeted that there are only 4 queues left before they wrapped.
Based on Tor's tweet saying that there are over 30+ queues, SMYM should wrap filming at the end of this week or early next week. Regarding the release, there are multiple sources confirming that it'll be released at the end of the year (mostly Tor, screenwriter Lux and Sammon confirming it through their tweets).
But the most "on record" confirmation I've seen is JJ stating in his interview with Thanaerng for Harper's Bazaar Thailand that SMYM "should be around December" if all goes well. JJ also has a film coming out, around February 2025.

Plz send halp.
I have fallen down a MewTul rabbit hole and I can't get out.
Things Mew has said about his faen:
~Has blood type O (Tul's blood type is O)
~Lives in NYC (Tul lives in NYC)
~Was with him at New Year's (Tul was with him over New Year's)
~Is currently not active in the entertainment industry (Tul has retired to finish grad school)
~Thai reporters probably already know his faen (Tul is already known to Thai reporters)
~Does not like or play football (Tul hates football)
~Have met each other's parents (They've obviously met each other's parents)
~Is sulking because Mew is slow to answer his phone (Tul has several times, quite publicly on social media, sulked over Mew not answering his calls)
~The most expensive thing he bought his faen was a bag worth 100,000 baht (He bought Tul a Bottega Veneta bag worth 100,000 baht)
~His faen sent him a video of them singing Blood Type B in English that day (earlier that same day Tul posted then deleted a video of himself singing Blood Type B in English to his IG Stories, ie he probably meant to DM it to someone or filter who saw it)((THIS IS VERY SPECIFIC AND WHAT ARE THE CHANCES))
~He's traveled abroad with his faen (Mew and Tul have been to both Vietnam and NYC together)
~Their love blossomed while filming Ocean Eyes (Tul also worked on Ocean Eyes)
~They don't announce their relationship but they don't hide it either. They go out in public together and it's fine if fans see them together. (Fans have spotted Tul and Mew together many times, and they both appear in each other's and other's IG stories often. Meanwhile, there aren't any consistent fan sightings of Mew with anyone else.)
Things that make me go hmmm:
Mew has twice called Tul his "baby" in English.
Mew has said his happiest memory is in Chiang Mai (he and Tul just went there together over New Year's).
When at the hotel together in Vietnam over Christmas, Mew shared an IG story of the hotel's pianist and violinist performing Perfect by Ed Sheeran with the note that he had been the one to make the request. (Odd request for dinner entertainment with your bro, not so odd if you're with your faen.) Later Tul shared an IG story of a pic of NYC skyline with a clip of Ed Sheeran's Perfect playing over it. Mew later posted a throwback photo dump from Vietnam on his IG and in the pic from the Regent resort gym, you can see Tul reflected in the mirror as the person snapping the pic. Fans also have pics of them in the hotel together. And yet despite all this proof they were in Vietnam together, Tul posted a photo dump of NYC Christmas pics to make it seem like he wasn't there. Why the subterfuge?
Mew repeatedly posts to and tags an IG account (@growaswegoooooooo) with romantic language "You complete me. I complete you. We complete each other." "I'm already missing you" etc. The account was created during Mew's trip to visit Tul in NYC last October. None of the pics have selfies in them, but they are most often of places he and Tul have been together. Like Vietnam over Christmas, Chiang Mai over New Year's, and even NYC during October. He even posted pics of an overnight stay at a small B&B in Cold Spring, NY that were taken on Tul's birthday with pics of Tul's Bday cake (the one he posted himself holding a week later with the semi-nude IG pics) and a flower bouquet (how many bros buy bouquets for their bros on their birthdays?? while staying at quaint, secluded upstate B&Bs?? and apparently doing an almost nude photo shoot together??). In another pic, the account's "where we had our first brunch together in Chiang Mai" pics showed the table set up from Tul's POV, and Mew posted the table set up from his POV with a bit of Tul's shirt and arm in it on his primary IG story, and fans had pics of the two of them at that restaurant wearing those exact clothes. The mystery IG account is clearly run by Mew and heavily features Tul while not actually showing either of them.
If Mew's faen lives in NYC and isn't Tul, why did Mew spend Tul's entire winter break with him in Vietnam and Chiang Mai? Why not spend the holidays with his faen?
If Mew's faen isn't Tul, who else was 1) with him while filming Ocean Eyes, 2) famous enough that Thai reporters would know them, 3) no longer currently active in the entertainment industry, 4) also living in NYC, 5) also with him over New Year's in Chiang Mai, and 6) type O blood? That's just too many coincidences stacked on top of each other. You could argue it was an Ocean Eyes crew member from NYC who is also friends with Tul, but why would Thai reporters know a random set employee?
If Mew's faen isn't Tul, why create that secondary IG account using romantic language and tie it so closely to Tul?
If Mew's faen isn't Tul, then what's with all these weirdly specific answers that only apply to Tul? If they were an onscreen couple I'd immediately dismiss it all as fan service, but they have NOTHING TO PROMOTE together. They're clearly good friends in the very least, but he's got to know how his answers sound.
What is going on??
#mew suppasit#tul pakorn#mewtul#i am not delulu i just need to understand what is going on#also my only argument against their dating at this point is that Mew literally said they weren't when asked directly about it#which is worth a lot but also maybe not if the couple wants to control the narrative of if/when/how they make it public

Udon Thani
Udon Thani
Udon Thani (Thai: อุดรธานี, pronounced [ʔù.dɔ̄ːn tʰāː.nīː]) is a city in Isan (Northeast Thailand), the capital of Udon Thani Province and the sixth largest city in Thailand. The city municipality (thesaban nakhon / city proper) had a population of 130,531 people as of 2019, while Udon Thani's urban area, Mueang Udon Thani, has a population of approximately 400,000. Udon Thani is one of four major cities in Isan, the others being Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, and Khon Kaen. Together they are known as the "big four of Isan".
Location
Udon is approximately 560 km from Bangkok. It is a major official and commercial center in northern Isan, Thailand, and the gateway to Laos, northern Vietnam, and southern China.
History
The city's economy was boosted by the proximity to Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and retains reminders of that time in the form of bars, coffee shops, and hotels. "Udon sort of became like Pattaya when the GIs arrived," said a local architect. "Restaurants serving Western cuisine, hotels and nightclubs sprouted up everywhere to meet their needs. It was an extremely busy city back then."
The BBC has reported that Udon Thani's Royal Air Force Base was the site of a CIA black site, known to insiders as "Detention Site Green", used to interrogate Abu Zubaydah, Saudi-born Palestinian, believed to be one of Osama bin Laden's top lieutenants. In December 2014 the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) published an executive summary of a secret 6,000-page report on CIA techniques. The report alleges that at least eight Thai senior officials knew of the secret site. The site was closed in December 2002.
Earlier reports alleged that a Voice of America relay station in a rural area of Udon Thani Province, Ban Dung District, was the CIA black site.
Administration
Udon Thani town municipality (thesaban mueang) with an area of 5.6 km2 (2.2 sq mi) was established on 15 March 1936. On 27 May 1953, the area covered by the municipality was increased to 8.3 km2 (3.2 sq mi). As a result of the town's continuing growth, the total area of the municipality was enlarged for the second time to 47.7 km2 (18.4 sq mi). on 31 December 1993. On 25 September 1995 Udon Thani was upgraded to city municipality (thesaban nakhon), and is divided into 21 sub-districts (tambons), which are further subdivided into 248 villages (mubans). (chumchon), 130,531 people in 60,659 households.
Transport
Udon Thani International Airport, close to the city centre (within the ring road), serves a number of domestic airports: Chiang Mai International Airport, U-Tapao International Airport (Pattaya), and Phuket, with approximately 24 daily flights to Bangkok (Don Mueang International and Suvarnabhumi Airport). During the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic flights were reduced to 10-14 daily to Bangkok airports only.
Udon Thani railway station in the city centre receives four trains daily from Bangkok railway station (Hua Lamphong) including overnight sleepers.
Economy
Mining
Asia Pacific Potash Corporation (APPC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Italian-Thai Development PLC, owns the concession to the Udon North and Udon South potash mines and plans to develop them. Potash deposits in northeast Thailand are believed to contain the world's third-largest—after Canada and Russia—unexploited potash reserves. Potash is one of the main components of agricultural fertilizer.
Climate
Udon Thani has a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification Aw). Winters are fairly dry and very warm. Temperatures rise until April, which is hot with the average daily maximum at 36.2 °C (97.2 °F). The monsoon season runs from late-April through early-October, with heavy rain and somewhat cooler temperatures during the day, although nights remain warm. The range of reliably recorded temperatures in the city is from 2.5 °C (36.5 °F) to 44.1 °C (111.4 °F).

Climbing El Peñol de Guatapé
For the 700 stair climb, I wanted to arrive early and be among the first to climb up before all the tour buses started arriving from Medellín and bring hundreds of people to crowd the stairs. I woke up at 6:30 and got ready with my ankle brace. I tried to order an Uber about 5 times but no drivers were accepting the ride even when I added more money to the fare. It was 7:15am when I started placing my Uber orders and by 8:15am I still had nothing. Defeated, I walked down to the Guatapé bus terminal and hoped to get on a bus heading that way, and luckily a collectivo truck similar to the ones I’d ridden in Chiang Mai was heading that way so I jumped in the back. 3000 pesos later I was dropped off at a gas station at the base of the hill faced with either a climb up some stairs and then up a hill, or taking an expensive tuk tuk to the top. Since it was not that hot, I opted to walk and it was a nice scenic walk to warm up for the real climb. I sat to eat my pastry and have a short rest before buying my ticket and beginning the climb. There were only a handful of people climbing at the same time as me so the timing of my visit was perfect to avoid the masses. It wasn’t too difficult either, my ankle behaved and there were nice viewpoints and stops on the way up to take in the scenery, catch my breath, and enjoy a cool breeze. At the top I had a treat of a little tub of coconut arequipe ice cream and seat in the shade to rest. There were some convenient souvenir shops too with much cheaper prices than in Medellín or Guatapé funnily enough so I got a few little things before the walk back down the staircases. The descent took much longer than the ascent and was more painful, especially after resting which is usually the way it goes. The stairs were placed uneven heights and distances, and the handrail was there only 80% of the time to help me but I made it! At the base I wanted to take some photos of the Guatapé signs around the place but found they were all being guarded by aggressive restaurant hosts who demand a purchase to take a photo. Tourist trap! I wasn’t sure how to get back to the main town of Guatapé so I figured I’d have to walk back down to that gas station and try to flag down a passing bus but luckily at the bottom one of the motochiva drivers offered me a ride for 12,000 pesos which was about the price of the Uber estimates in the morning so I accepted gladly. He dropped me off near the Parque Principal de Guatapé where there was a line of waiting motochivas ready to drive to the rock and back probably. I walked around the Calle del Recuerdo and Plazoleta de los Zócalos before stopping at Café La Vina for my lunch of a caramel frappe and smoothie bowl that was probably the best of the trip so far. After sitting for a longer time I realised that I really needed to rest my ankle after all the climbing so I headed back to the room to lie down for a few hours. Once I was feeling better I walked up the road to a viewpoint for a quick look then walked into the town centre again which was in full festive swing with a market going on, music, and street food stalls. I grabbed some more baked goods from Panadería Orquipan as well as a couple of filled buñeulos, picked up a limon coco drink and went back to the hotel for Netflix. Definitely misread the amount of calories on the drink but I had earned it!
