Back from the Dead... sort of.

He hasn't seen them in ages, and as a fan of such an iconic(and unfortunately deceased) character, the smallest crumb or appearance of his favorite Evil Resident character is enough to have him obsessing over the remake just to view the Reader in all their glory. In which, Loser! Wesker starts raving like the fanatic he is over his beloved villain.

When it was first announced that they were remaking the fourth installation of the mainline game, Wesker couldn't say that he really cared, the protagonist of that game wasn't his favorite to play through but it set the foundation for how the future games would play like. The grinding for better weapons wasn't all that great either, and there were certain parts that he'd rather skip over from how tedious they were, and he honestly wouldn't have pre-ordered it had it not been for one very important detail. Since the fifth release of the Evil Resident franchise, you would finally be making a return, and such was teased in the trailer for the remake. He recalls watching it for the first time, with baited breath as the teaser played out. The better graphics was certainly something to behold, but none of that mattered until he saw the familiar outline of your face, only in better detail and played by someone who encompassed the very idea of who you were.

And then, when he didn't think it could be any better than it was, he was graced by that lovely voice of yours. The sweet sound of your timbre elicited a response within himself that could be likened to a starving dog, just about ready to have his treat. Swallowing thickly, he had to calm himself, pressing a gloved hand to his mouth to quickly muffle and suppress the downright joy at finally having his muse return to him. And in such an honorable fashion. Wesker had his doubts, because there was only so much a mere actor could comprehend about you, they likely wouldn't play you to the tune he desired for your image and character... but this was something, something after years of nothing. The only thing he could celebrate your existence through was the erasure of your death via fanfics and indulging in the content that others lovingly crafted for you.

Now he could have more to play with, more content to keep him pacified and sated until the next installment receives its inevitable remake or remaster. You might be nearing the precipice of your death, retold for the next generation, but he would savor every moment he could have with you. Yet again, you're at the front and center of his mind, this time seating yourself(literally) in the center of his screen as he analyzes every subtle movement that he can. Hell, he hasn't even started playing it yet, and he's already taking as many pictures as he can for his designated folder on his hard drive. The devil works hard, but Wesker works harder. And when he finally receives his copy, he cannot help himself but to stare at the paused cutscene where your mocking grin graces his monitor. Observing you closely, he wants to make sure that he gets everything right, equipped with a notebook in hand even.

If you think the slightest thing is getting past his eye, you'd be dead wrong. This close appraisal of your character is imperative to the new wave of fics he has to write now, because if even the slightest detail is off, it will irritate him. Especially if some upity new fan thinks they can unseat him from the throne he has crafted within the community. No one gets you like he does, and Wesker isn't shy of announcing that to the new fans that make abhorrent judgements about your character. The mischaracterization of his beloved muse could very well be his demise, but he would rather die than to let those degenerates capture you all wrong. Your time might've been sparse in the remake, but it was time enough, DLC included.

I'm not sure if you've answered this question before but when did you realize that you liked Leon a little more than the rest?Let me explain, before the remakes my goat was Chris.BUT AFTER RE2r???????I put him on the back of my mind for Leon and by the time I realized I didn't even think about Chris as much as I thought about Leon lol

Leon was the character my later father really loved.

Before RE4 entered in our homes, I've never had any dialogue with my father. I ever only saw him as this protector and provider.

You could never tell us "No" without my father jumping in and shield us from dangers that were never there. But, dialogue? Never.

He was... My father. And just that.

Until he started playing Resident Evil 4, and me (as a HUGE game lover) would start to play with him. Through our long playing hours, with me counting the minutes to quit school to go home to play with him, we bounded like never before.

Leon made my father quit smoking when he saw Leon refuse it. My father laughed, it was our 50x time playing that game from the start and watching the same cutscene (my father NEVER skipped any cutscene).

My father bought me my Degeneration DVD. We watched it together, and played Darkside Chronicles Together, too.

But a few years later, my father died. Re5 was just announced, but no Leon, so my father didnt bothered with it lol

We were just being happy fanboying over Leon and enjoying our walkthroughs...

And then he died.

I think Leon is more than just a character for me. He is a symbol. Leon gave me a friend... He gave me a dad. I've always had a father, but Leon gave me a Dad. During his last years with us, he became the dad he always dreamed to be.

And Leon broke that ice...

Up to this day, I can not hear the ending credit song Sorrow without crying. It hurts. Physically...

But I cry with a smile, too.

Leon is... Leon is a memory, Leon is a life changer, Leon is the character who gave me a dad for a few years. Leon is...

I cant even begin to tell you how Leon is not just a "character" to me. He is beyond that. It is so strong, my entire family actually knows Leon...

If Leon appears in RE9... Boy he will break my entire family into a crying mess (even though I will be the only one to actually play it lol) we all used to reunite during christmas to play that freaking game in my granny's huge TV on her second floor living room after dinner....

Leon is almost... A family member at this point. He remind us all of great times we had with a great man that is no longer with us.

Cause I've been on a Resident Evil bender for the last couple months, I've decided to dig up some old hypothetical video game ideas to fanfic muse about.

So since Umbrella and Tricell are gone, and The Connections are too shadowy, we need a new RE evil mega corp.

(Actually these ideas have been bouncing around in my head for years, and predate 7 and Village's The Connections. This logo is something I just recently made though.)

Anywho so evil mega corp needs a hiding in plain sight lab for their evil research so... (Very Early WIP)

The Krystron Advanced Research Center (Formally Krystron Advanced Medical Research Center). So the basic plot idea was that one of the characters would wake up in the hospital in a city in the middle of a Raccoon City Incident level biohazard outbreak. I'm debating if there will be connected buildings or what those connected buildings will be. (At the least I'd keep the parking garage...)

Basic floor plan for the (main) building.

The 1st Floor, central lobby will have vibes of the Air Dome Laboratory from Resident Evil: Degeneration. The water pools may have fountains, probably have fishies...

The Central Lift.

B1F is all maintenance/industrial stuff, so there's no need for the central lift to stop here. If the water tanks break, the design allows all the water to drain into three emergency drains. Water tight doors prevent the water from going anywhere else.

Central lift dome is inverted in B2F, there's a walkway and lift exit on B3F. So the basement floors all take cues from RE2's NEST, three areas mostly isolated from one another by walls.

And here's B6F, and the secret dock area, which connects to the sea. That water pool is 50 m wide by the way. B6F is probably going to end up entirely warehouse space. Remember those drains from B1F? They go all the way down to the bottom do dump out into the underground river.

The thing about Resident Evil, though, is that “from the beginning” can mean one of two different things. You can start from the beginning with Resident Evil (1996) on PSX, I suppose, but Resident Evil 0 (2002) is chronologically the earliest point in the series.

And, in my opinion, starting with either of those games is a bad idea if you’re coming in from RE4.

I’m going to give you two viable paths through RE, and you can choose the one that you think would work better for you personally.

If you came into Resident Evil through RE4make (and/or OG RE4), and you are only interested in seeing Leon’s story before going into the wider canon, this is the path you take:

Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 2 Remake (it doesn’t matter which one you do first, but you should do both. RE2make cuts some shit that’s actually really super important.)

Google search “Resident Evil 3 Leon epilogue.” It’s a single image. Just read it.

Darkside Chronicles (game)

Congrats, you are now up to date with everything (important) that happened to Leon pre-RE4, and you now have a better context for who he is/what he does in that game. From there, the canon timeline for Leon’s appearances then goes:

Degeneration (movie)

Infinite Darkness (Netflix series)

Damnation (movie)

Resident Evil 6 (game)

Vendetta (movie)

Death Island (movie) (releasing in July)

And that’s it. You’re up to date with Leon’s story, and now you can go through the rest of the games at your leisure. The good news is that Leon is in every single canon CGI movie that’s been released, so you don’t have to worry about tracking down anything other than games in order to go into the wider canon once you’ve reached this point.

If you came into Resident Evil through RE4make (and/or OG RE4), and you want to go through the canon because you’re interested in the world and not necessarily hyperfixating on Leon, I actually suggest going backwards and out of order. These are the steps that I would take in order for the series to make the most sense as you’re going through it:

Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 2 Remake (again: do both). Doing this gives you more context for RE4, and it introduces you to Claire and makes you aware of who Chris is.

(optional) Resident Evil: Outbreak. Nothing that happens in this game matters, and you’ll never see any of these characters again. This is the only non-essential RE title that I’ll mention, and only because Kevin Ryman is delightful and was supposed to be the guy training Leon if Leon had ever actually started work for real.

Resident Evil Remake. Ignore RE1 on PSX. It’s been erased from canon and overwritten by REmake. This now gives you the setup for why Chris wasn’t in Raccoon City when Claire went looking for him, introduces you to him, and also the rest of the recurring main cast. It will also explain to you who Wesker is; he’s the guy who was talking to Ada in the post-credits scene in RE4make (and who called Leon a dog over and over lmao).

Resident Evil 0. This tells you how Rebecca got to where she was when you meet her in REmake and finishes fleshing out STARS and Wesker for you. By the time you’re done with RE0, you’ll have a full understanding of who the main players all are and how this all started.

Resident Evil 3. Original or Remake. Doesn’t matter, really. I recommend the remake just because Carlos is hot in that version and the game is overall more palatable, but the changes that happen between OG and remake don’t really matter in the way the changes between RE2/RE2make matter.

Code Veronica X. Now that everyone’s out of Raccoon City, the next event chronologically is Claire continuing her search for Chris (and finally finding him).

Umbrella Chronicles followed by Darkside Chronicles. This is just to cap off the Raccoon City saga. Most of what these two games are are recaps of all the games you just went through, but there are extra bits in there that are important. Like, the original version of Operation Javier is shown in Darkside Chronicles -- and, once you see it, you’ll understand why RE old guard says that it’s been changed and retconned in RE4make. The rest of this list is just how the series then unfolds chronologically, because we are now caught up to Resident Evil 4.

And that’s it. That is the list of essential RE canon. Everything else in this series is just a spinoff that’s there for funsies, and some of it explicitly is not canon. If you want to be a complete and utter crazy person and go through it all, feel free, but I promise you that you don’t need to know who Morpheus D. Duvall is (nor do you want to), or about that dude who fucked that spider in Gun Survivor 2 (though it is the funniest bit of RE lore to pull out and shock people with. DUDE PUT HIS DICK IN A SPIDER).

Resident Evil is a series that sells in the multi millions.

Two thousand people on the internet are a drop in the bucket -- especially when you consider that not all of those people actually buy and play the games (they just watch them instead).

If you removed the aeon cult from RE's sales, Capcom wouldn't feel their loss. That's why we keep getting things like Degeneration and Infinite Darkness and Vendetta and Death Island and the soon to be Operation Javier game.

People like Leon. They put up moneybucks for Leon. And they put up that money regardless of whether Ada's with him or not. as for the inprnt thing, i never begged anyone to buy my stuff. i literally started selling my prints because people have been asking it for years, and ive stated MULTIPLE TIMES that no one should feel obligated to buy anything from me because its not my main income and its just a side extra thing i do. PEOPLE WANTED PRINTS OF MY ART, THEY ASKED FOR IT FOR LITERAL YEARS, AND IM JUST GIVING THEM WHAT THEY WANT. if youve ever seen me beg people to buy my art please let me know because i sure as fuck dont remember doing it. the only reason why i post my inprnt stuff so often is because the site has sitewide sales often, and if i have a way to let people pay less for my art if they want to im going to give them exactly that.

i know selling stuff with other people's IPs isnt exactly legal, its a big grey area that has no 100% rights or wrongs. but im not actively harming anyone just because i made art of a character and sold it online. the big companies arent losing any money because of me, you can always take the money youre paying for my prints and just buy official merch. i dont care. im going to repeat myself again and tell you that im only selling prints FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WANT IT AND CAN AFFORD IT.
