I made a clone wars timeline to combine all of canon and legends into one cohesive and somewhat manageable timeline, mainly for fanfic and ttrpg purposes but I thought people might like it, it has a full workout of the galactic standard calendar and has precise(ish) dates for events (mainly republic commando) but I want as many people as possible to be able to see it and hopefully enjoy it
You can find it here:

like when my parents first adopted their dog she had been a breeder dog and she hadn't been abused but she had had extremely little social interaction ever and had spent most of her life inside in the same five kennel rooms. so when they first got her and you started petting her, her eyes would go incredibly wide and she would instantly just freeze up. there was not an ounce of aggression in her but she was so mystified by what was happening she had a sort of deer in the headlights reaction like "maybe if i stay incredibly still for as long as i am capable whatever is happening will stop. or... will not stop? i'm not sure what is going on, and i'm scared, but the longer it happens the more i realize i want it to keep happening." and that's how i conceptualize a lot of my undersocialized blorbos' relationships with affection also

Kal Skirata, Jango, Orum Wa and the Nulls (by me, Nocturius)
Nocturius: Oh crap, I thought I've already shared that one here, but, hey, enjoy!
It's a piece I made on Krita last Winter. It feel aaaaaaaaaaaaages ago since do RC and TBB content (well... mostly memes tbh) on a regular basis.
It took me over 50h to do. 9 characters, Tipoca City and the work of light and storm. That was an hard one for sure! Still not 100% happy with the perspective, shading and composition but that's a ''me'' problem as an artist. I tried hard to respect the books description and also material from The Clones Wars and Attack of the Clones for the visual as reference pictures. I found some useful concept art online too. That was a very formative project. I think it was the first time I did piece directly on Krita instead of scanning a sketch. I was getting more confident with my stylet and wacom!
----
Here some WIP, for the funzies.

Go well with that fine fan-made audiobook reading of that exact scene! (no need to have read the first book to enjoy ^^)

Reading between the lines, I sometimes get the impression that mando clans might operate a bit like warbands. But on the other hand, the Mandalorian society is millennia old so you’d think they would have figured out a system like this during the day when they had an empire and a large army. Supposedly they are effective warriors, after all.
But maybe during times of decline and diaspora, the Mandalorian society kind of collapses to smaller clan units again. So who knows, maybe it’s not that exceptional to serve in the same mercenary band as your clan members. Although you’d obviously still want to separate family members, if only as risk management (leave the children at least one parent and a clan members who can provide for the injured ones).
But back to Kal and the clones, I was perhaps a bit harsh because their circumstances really are exceptional. It’s not like the clones would have other parents if Kal didn’t step into that role. And it’s not like Kal would be able to stay in that role if he wasn’t also their training sergeant first, and commanding officer later. So for the clones, it’s either Kal’buir or no buir. It’s a fucked up situation, but he’s doing his best.
I guess I’d just like a bit more introspection on these power dynamics, especially given the clones status. But I guess moral philosophy just isn’t in Kal’s nature like that. It’s not like fate will always decide to put the best man on the job—it will put the job in front of some hapless guy, who will or won’t try to step up and do his best. It’s often not enough. Such is life. I have an expectation that fiction is not that random because the author is able to design both the setting and the characters; but perhaps Traviss doesn’t.
Trying the Republic Commando novels again,
spoilers under the cut!
At first I was really skeeved by both the pregnancy storyline and Kal’s character (he’s great as a fictional character, but man, what a piece of work). But now I’m starting to question why these elements were chosen for the story. What questions is the reader invited to ask? Is it just the author’s own biases showing, or are these elements there for a purpose?
I find the choice of Etain’s pregnancy storyline and her reasoning of “giving Darman a future” interesting. The “my line and legacy will continue after me” is a natborn concept. Would clones even attach similar sentiments to reproduction? I think not. If you shared your genetic code with millions of others, would you feel it was tied to your individuality, or would it feel more like common property? Would it be a part of what makes you, you—or would you find the part that’s not genetic to be a more important? Would giving it to a child be an act of tying you together, or would the act of raising them (like you were trained by your training sergeant or brothers) be more salient?
Is this a purposeful “cultural” misunderstanding from the author’s part? I’d find that an interesting angle to explore, but since the pregnancy is hidden, we don’t get Darman’s thoughts on the matter (at least as far as I’ve gotten so far). Or is it simply a misunderstanding the purpose of which is to illustrate the clones’ position and other people making all the decisions concerning them, even outside the military life (Etain’s to get pregnant on purpose; Kal’s to not tell Darman)? Is the whole point of the plot line that there are no civilian lives and freedoms for the clones? Or is it just the author’s own biases showing through?
Similarly, I’m starting to wonder whether the whole point of Kal’s character isn’t that even the clones’ own father figure controls all their choices? It’s repeatedly emphasised how Kal doesn’t like and refuses to share information, makes one-sided decisions all the time, and bullies around everyone from jedi generals to his own sons until he gets what he thinks is best. He’s a control freak who can’t deal with letting other people make their own choices.
I was first disappointed that even the story that was supposed to be told “from the point of view of the disposable grunts,” actually centred on a pregnant Jedi and a rogue natborn sergeant. But now I’m wondering if the point of these characters isn’t to tell something about the clones? Military fiction after all sometimes does include relationship subplots, to explore how serving in the military affects the soldiers’ relationships and lives beyond the military. So are Etain and Kal serving the same function here, only because the soldiers in question are clones without rights, it works out a bit differently?
I don’t know. I hope I’m getting on the right track here, and not giving too generous an interpretation to the books, because I really wanted to like them (military fiction! in SW!) but then to my surprise didn’t. So I’m trying again with a bit more deliberate engagement with the elements that bothered be the first time. 🤔

I would love to see a fic where Kal Skirata and his associates meet the Command Batch. (I'll write it myself. Eventually.)
The second Kal -- or any of them, actually, said something along the lines of, oh, I don't know, "Must be hard, working with a bunch a baby-stealers" or more Jedi-bashing shit like that, we all know how they'd react.
Cody: Listens for a moment, then politely sets off a riot.
Rex: "Okay, bitch, get over here."
Wolffe: There's a mass murder. How dare you insult his father?
Doom: Hits the speaker in the groin.
Neyo: "First off, FUCK YOU--"
Fox: "I want a Jedi! I don't give a fuck if they're baby-stealers, I need one!"
Bly: Strangles the speaker.
Bacara: He lets them talk for a while, laughs hysterically, and beats the shit out of them with his helmet. The only one allowed to be an acidic bastard toward his Jedi is him, goddammit! (If Ki-Adi is watching, he's touched by his Commander's display of affection.)
Gree: Proceeds to rip their reasoning apart with detailed fact-checking and citations. He has a slide show with dancing graphics.
Ponds: Gives them the glare his General gives to particularly enraging Separatists.
Monnk: Raises his middle fingers. Then he raises his middle toes.
