My brainrot today is thinking about just how incredible for a character Eowyn is.
Genuinely. The series might not have many female characters but the ones we do get go so fucking hard.
To me, Eowyn is literally the definition of defining being a woman for oneself. She rejects the roles she is given despite acknlowdging the importance and its mostly because she knows part of the reason is that she is a woman.
The reason why she is obsessed with Aragorn isn't because she loves him but because she wants what he has. She wants the freedom and courage and bravery that Aragorn has at every turn. She literally has multiple conversations during the Two Towers about how what she fears most is a cage. All this girl wants is the freedom to be and not be forced into a role. The best thing is that she literally gets that.
The segment of Return of the King about Eowyn and Faramir is literally about her piecing together what she truly wants. She doesn't want Aragorn. She wants freedom and the ability to choose. Faramir does nothing but encourage that in her. Their love story is literally one of the healthiest love stories I've seen in a long time because at the heart of it, their love is a place to return home to for both parties. Both go off to lead and help their people for a considerable amount of time before returning to each other but that does not diminish their bond. Even Faramir, I believe, falls in love with her bravery and dedication to her loved ones. The reason she went to Pelenor Fields and Gondor with the troops of Rohan was because she had things she wanted to fight for. She wanted to fight for herself, her people, and her loved ones. She is the one who protects Theoden after he is killed so that his body gets the treatment it deserves. She encourages Merry and helps him go to the battle because she sees her struggle in Merry. They feel helpless standing around when there are things to be doing.
Let's also not forget the fact that she was around Grima Wormtounge just as much as the King was. She was exposed to the same poison and awful words that eroded the king. It's even implied that her care for him is part of the reason why Theoden was savable when Gandalf showed up. She had the same power and bravery as everyone else even if she didn't see it in herself.
Then at the end of the day, SHE decides where she wants to go and what path she wants to walk. She walked the path of a warrior. The path of a princess/ruler. The path of a caretaker. But in the end she decides which elements truly mean something to her outside of gender definitions. That is what makes her character so incredible to me. In this she literally kills one of the biggest enemies in that battle with such a badass line.
#i could talk for ages about how i see the struggle of defining being a woman for oneself in her#she rejects the feminine roles given to her but she also doesnt quite want the masculine ones#she just wants the freedom to choose and have the same respect that men are given#she doesnt want to be belitted because she is a woman#thats literally what Faramir gives her and why she stays with him#Faramir loves her for her not anything else#he respects her as she does him#i am someone who is a woman but rejects the definitons of being a woman because they are toxic and caging#all i want is the freedom and respect of being a HUMAN being#i lend more masculine because that is where that freedom is more often but i also see how toxic that relam is too#niether side is good which is why i choose my own path and defintiom#the fact that eowyn gets such a similar story in a series written by a man in the mid 1900s is incredible#i am someone who would love to have more female characters but i do not want them at the expense of them being proper characters and humans#ive read a lot of fantasy women do not always get the agency they deserve#i would rather take fewer well written women then a bunch of poorly written female characters#lotr has that#eowyn arwen and galadriel are all given agency and the space to be their own individuals which makes them incredible characters#thats what i want out of books and ficition#god im making myself insane about my own thoughts lol#i could talk for ages im not kidding#eowyn#eowyn of rohan#lotr#lotr rambling#lord of the rings#the two towers#the return of the king

Prompt three was favourite NPC and I nearly had a mini freak out because I wasn't sure who to pick to draw!! There's a lot of cool NPCs in Apotheosis, but I decided to draw Peter's old adventuring party because nobody draws them and that makes me sad :( Era was heavily based on sug4rc4ne's design because they're the only person who's ever drawn her on here and the design stuck to my brain (rushed concept sketches i did of the group under the cut).

Please don’t remember me as that man
When the Evil Garmadon is released from Departed Relam, Sensei Garmadon came with him like chained. But nobody don't see him at all,because he can't control his evil self.
Request from ao3!
Sensei Garmadon felt himself slowly departing from the Departed relam. He sensed someone calling out to him.
Except it was not him. Or was it?
As he left against his will, he felt his dark side pulling at him.
The sensation of becoming alive again intensified along with the feeling that he was bound without control over himself.
It was the most painful sensation he felt at every moment.
~~~~~~
"You have changed?" Garmadon spoke out loud. Even his dark side seemed taken aback.
"So have you!" Lloyd replied.
This struck Sensei Garmadon deeply. But he knew it was the truth.
He couldn't do anything while fighting against Lloyd.
He was there. He was tied to the malevolent Garmadon.
He still couldn't do anything.
Was this a cruel punishment for what he had once done as a Dark Lord?
Every blow he dealt to his son hurt him three times more. Every word...
"I have no son!!" Garmadon yelled as Sensei Garmadon screamed within him.
"Of course you do, fool! That’s Lloyd..."
No one could hear him. No one could feel him. At least that’s what he thought.
When Garmadon threw Lloyd through the walls, Sensei Garmadon wished to die on the spot.
He couldn’t bear it... It seemed he could somehow still influence himself.
Because Garmadon no longer pursued Lloyd but left him alone.
~~~~~~
At first, he could talk to himself.
It ended up with Garmadon yelling and destroying things around him.
"Stop, stop!" he shouted as he tried to free from himself.
Sensei Garmadon did everything he could to at least gain some control over himself.
No, he saw Oni but there became another way to prevent that. There is always another way.
Just when he thought he had established control, Harumi would ruin it all.
How he loathed that girl. No, he didn’t hate her; he felt sorry for her. Such a young soul full of bitterness and hatred...
He tried to reach out to her, but he never got the chance.
Soon, he became Emperor Garmadon. His power grew with the fight, while Sensei Garmadon grew weaker. Oh, how he wished to depart...
But he couldn’t; he was trapped by his evil self. And no one noticed him. Except for Emperor Garmadon, occasionally, almost never.
He recalled Lloyd's words as he fell deeper into despair:
"I saved you once, I will save you again!"
"Please save me, Lloyd." he cried internally. "Because when I was evil the first time, I was not aware of what I was doing. Now I am, and I can do nothing. Please save me."
~~~~~~
However, salvation did not come. One moment when he received another scar in his heart was the fight against Misako and Nya.
He heard his baby brother's scream. He could do nothing.
"I was married to him once, I'm upon everything," Sensei Garmadon felt his heart ache again.
What did she mean by that? And did she even see him as the same man?
He hoped that in her eyes, he could see that he wasn’t.
The fight was dreadful. Misako held her own very well, but every blow Garmadon dealt hurt him more than anything else.
He never thought he would hurt her, Lloyd...
~~~~~~
The moment he managed to regain control happened in the battle between him and his son.
Just as Emperor Garmadon attempted to throw Lloyd off the Borg Tower, Sensei Garmadon intervened.
"No, no, no, no!!" he screamed and ignited himself. Emperor Garmadon threw Lloyd aside.
"I cannot fight you, but I can resist you!"
He was so proud every time Lloyd said that sentence.He taught him that.
To fight without fighting, the art of the silent fist.
He felt stronger as Emperor Garmadon weakened. Finally, he was defeated.
Sensei Garmadon put in all of his efforts to stand his ground now. But he didn’t succeed.
Perhaps he didn’t want it badly enough, because he couldn’t bear to see their faces after everything.
What would they think?
He felt himself separating from Emperor Garmadon and returning to the Departed Realm.
He felt relieved; at least he could return to his parents...
When he fully arrived, he collapsed to the ground from mental exhaustion.
"Oh son..." He heard from behind but could not lift his gaze.
What would they say about what he had done? He knew he would never recover from that, just like many others...
Was destny punishing him for all his wrongdoings? Was he being punished by suffering while watching others suffer?
Perhaps. Destny is unpredictable.
He remained on the ground, apologizing to everyone in silence. To Lloyd, Misako, Wu...
He wanted only one thing. For them to be okay and not to remember him as that man. To leave behind only beautiful memories.
Deep inside, he knew that the good him was never blamed. That they wouldn’t see him as the same man.
This comforted him while he knew he would never forgive himself. He felt hands lifting him off the ground, asking if he was alright. His parents...
He wasn’t alright, and that probably showed.
"PPlease don’t remember me as that man.lease don’t remember me as that man." He begged of Lloyd, Misako, and Wu primarily and the others as well.
He spoke until he fell unconscious. His parents later took care of him. And he did not feel better.
Maybe he did, but only a little.
Very little.

bright-eyed idealist (hard-eyed realist)
*whips out a bazooka*
i think it'd be fun to have him summoned as a Rider class servant (Fenton assualt vehicle is just a tank to roll down the the streets at high speed with, lol)
he's kinda mad-scientist like for techonology, and tinkers with a lot of stuff and making 'traps' character who can make a bomb out of anything trope. his weapons can only hurt other servants, and he pretends to be bad at hand-to-hand combat but is still a brawler at heart. it confuses people when he starts wailing on another servant or throwing what looks like magic (ecto blasts) around.
when he activates his 'noble phantasm' the Ecto-skeleton appears, and his lichtenburg scars become visible.
his catch phrase is "beware!!" and goes by Bill until he decides to say otherwise (who knows if 'ghosts' ever existed here or the GiW y'kno)
he keeps his wish a secret i dont even know what it is

Do you have any mangas about superheroes? Just don't be One Punch Man. I'm trying to take a break from My Hero Academia and I'm already very frustrated with the story.
Honestly the only superhero manga similar to mha and that isn't one punch man that I have been reading so far is:
Ranger Reject
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other than that, you can definitely start to head into the American and much more Western depictions of the superhero genre with shows like:
The boys

Invincible

In the realm of magic...
Kolamano had taken care of the succession ritual for his colleagues immediately after talking to Clementine. The preparations had taken a few days, but now it was time to say goodbye.
Clementine came to stand by Kolamano in what was emotionally difficult for him and to say goodbye to the sages.
Tumblr media
Riku, the sage of mischievous magic, was very afraid, which is why Clementine cast a happiness spell on him. He shouldn't worry about anything anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also wished for peace and joy for Hersh, the sage of functional magic. She owed a lot to the sage, he had accompanied her into the world of magic alongside her father.
Clementine: "Everything will be fine."
She embraced him deeply.
Kolamano then took both of them through a portal.
Tumblr media
Only a short time later, Hersh's place as sage was replaced by a new woman.

What if, when you get those random shivers that wrack through your body without you being cold, it's actually someone or something from another realm failing the ritual to summon you?
Baphomet: *reading the news in a bath robe and fuzzy slippers with his morning coffee*
Some person: *tries a ritual to summon Baphomet for power or something*
Baphomet: *shivers and spills a bit of his coffee on the paper* Damnit...
The person: WHERE DID I GO WRONG!? THE RITUAL WAS PERFECT, WAS THE INCANTATION MISPRONOUNCED!? TIME TO STUDY THE ANCIENT TEXTS FOR HOURS MORE!!

Departed relam
Request from ao3.
Garmadon drowns in the cursed realm and moves to the Departed realm and meets his dead friends and parents.
Thinking about making second part.
He could not exactly recall the sensation of transitioning into the departed realm.
At one moment, he found himself bound in the cursed realm, and in the next, he felt himself sinking. He experienced countless emotions before finally finding solid ground.
"Where?" Garmadon inquired, realizing there was no one around. Nevertless, the sign itself provided an answer.sam
"Realm of departed," he sighed.
He couldn't be certain of his emotions. In some way, he was relieved that it was all over, but he mourned for Lloyd, Misako, Wu, and the ninjas.
"Enough," he warned himself. "You have already lost them; you can mourn later."
He surveyed his surroundings but still saw no one.
"Is anyone there?!" he shouted before realizing if that was a good idea.
"Garmadon," a voice, painfully familiar, exclaimed surprisingly.
"Who are you?!" Garmadon shouted. "Reveal yourself." He listened as his voice echoed, but he received no response.
"Garmadon..." the voice repeated before fading away. It sounded like a woman's voice.
"Misako?" he automatically thought but immediately dismissed the idea. It wasn't his wife; it was someone else...
"Show yourself!" he cried out once more but received no answer except for someone gently tossing a soft pink flower onto his head.
It was so delicate, so fragrant, so familiar. He couldn't see anything similar around him.
"Where..." he began, but he was interrupted by another voice.
"Garmadon?!" It definitely wasn't the previous voice, but it was undeniably familiar. It took him a second to remember.
"Libber?!" he exclaimed surprised and rushed toward the woman with blonde hair. They embraced.
"I'm so glad to see someone familiar..." Garmadon told her.
"Me too, but there are more of us," Libber replied. "Me and..."
"No, please stop," Garmadon said with a trembling voice, so shaken that Libber ceased speaking.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to see your friends?"
"You know I do," Garmadon replied to her. "But first, I must solve a mystery."
He said and showed her the flower.
"Perhaps I will lead us to them." Libber sighed. "You can tell us what has been happening..."
"No," Garmadon suddenly interrupted her."I must find out who that voice belongs to."
"What voice?" Libber asked confused.
"Some famous voice that has been speaking to me. I must find out who it is."
"Alright, but I think you will reconsider once you hear the story."
"I won't." Garmadon replied with a confidence that frightened even himself. Why did he even want to find out who that voice was?
"To enter the realm where that flower is located, you must pass through darkness."
"That doesn't sound so scary." Garmadon almost laughed at his friend's uneasiness.
"It's not, but later you come across a door." "
A door?" Garmadon asked confused.
"Yes, a door. It's what you enter through to get to a space. Don't you have doors anymore?"
"Yes, I have a door." Garmadon shook his head. "I just don't understand."
"Don't interrupt and you'll find out!" Libber snapped at him angrily.
"When you get there, you must ask for entry, and if they refuse you, no one has ever returned from there."
"Maybe everyone has entered?" Garmadon suggested.
"Don't be naive, Garmadon." Libber told him.
"Alright then, lead me to those doors."
"You will regret it, you will see." Libber said but still brought him along.
They walked in silence, which was unusual for her, and it began to worry Garmadon.
"Here." She said in a sly voice when they arrived.
"Thank you," Garmadon sincerely said. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me, it is better for you to return to your friends and reveal everything that has happened in these years."
Libber said and patted him on the shoulder. "Good luck, Garmadon."
"Thank you." He said as he slowly stepped into the darkness. He was not a person who feared the dark, he was the master of shadows, but that darkness...
It seemed to swallow everything in its path. He felt as if he was trapped in a void that was slowly closing in on him and devouring him.
"Keep walking." He discouraged himself when he heard how weak his voice sounded. He continued to walk despite feeling as though he would stumble and fall any moment.
After what seemed like an eternity, he finally arrived at something that appeared to be a source of light.
"A door," he exclaimed. "How did Libber know that there were doors here if no one had ever returned?"
He ventured forth alone and decided to save that thought for later. The doors were peculiar, adorned with intricate symbols.
"Who dares to step foot in this place?" a deep voice inquired.
"I am Garmadon, son of the First Spinjitzu Master," he declared and became aware of what he needed to do.
He placed a flower petal into the keyhole, which then opened. Inside, he found clean air and a room full of blossoming flowers.
"Father's monastery," he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Father?!" On the floor, with their back turned towards him, stood a silhouette in meditation.
"Garmadon, my son..." The First Spinjitzu Master rose and approached Garmadon.
"Welcome, this is now your new home."
"Do you truly mean it?" Garmadon lowered his head in sadness. It had been a long time since he had felt like a child.
"Of course," the First Spinjitzu Master replied, although it seemed as though he had a lump in his throat.
He gently lifted Garmadon's head with his hand, just like when he was a child.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"For what?" Garmadon met his gaze for the first time. "I am the one who made so many mistakes..."
"Shh," the First Spinjitzu Master silenced him.
"I should have taken better care of you." He told him.
"You did everything you could, it's not your fault that it wasn't enough, I..."
"Let's not dwell on that now," the First Spinjitzu Master interrupted him.
"You did many good things when you became good again, you took care of your family, sacrificed yourself for Ninjago. I couldn't have asked for a better son."
"You don't mean that," Garmadon bitterly said.
"We do, both of us," they turned to recognize the voice. Suddenly, everything made sense, the voice, the flowers, the surroundings.
"Mother?"
"We don't blame you. We both believe that you were a victim in all of this," she told him and opened her arms for a hug.
He immediately embraced her, wiping away a few tears.
"It's been so long..." his mother gently spoke.
At the same time, he both loved and hated the way his parents make him feel like a child.
"I love you," his mother said to him.
"And I love both of you," he replied, glancing at his father.
"I love you too, son," his father tenderly uttered. "Always have, even when you were under the spell. That's when I held you closest to my heart."
"Now go," he was instructed. Why were their voices always so gentle?
"Your friends are waiting for you. You'll come back here later." His mother pointed towards the opposite door.
"You'll come back soon," his father added.
Before he knew it, he found himself on the other side. There stood Libber.
"Why did you lie?"
"Lie?" Libber feigned ignorance.
"Yes, about my parents..."
"Oh, yes. I just wanted you to at least gather yourself... Are you crying?"
"No," he replied, wiping away his tears. "Maybe a little."
"Come then," Libber said to him and led him away. "Let's go to our friends."
"Wait," Garmadon interrupted her.
"What is it now?"
"I miss my family, Misako, Lloyd, Wu..."
"I know, Garmadon, I know," Libber reassured him and allowed him to cry on her shoulder.
