while i’d love to read peoples reasonings for their answers, i’d ask that you don’t put your answer in the tags so that your followers aren’t influenced by your answer
i’ll try to edit this post with the answer shortly before the poll finishes so you can check when you get the poll complete notification!
reblogs appreciated! i want to get a feel for how people use/understand these terms

"Being nice and being kind aren't the same thing.
And often look like opposites."
Nice: Sure, I'll pray along with you, if it would make you feel better. Kind: No, thank you. I don't believe in your god, so I'll just wait until you're done.
Nice: Sure, sweetie, you can have that tattoo for your fifteenth birthday because you want it. Kind: No, a tattoo is inappropriate. When you're older you can make those decisions for yourself. Yes, I know you hate me, but my job is to be your parent, not your friend.
Nice: Sure, I'll call you xhglir/xhglem because you say that's what you feel like this week. Kind: No, I don't think it's healthy to reinforce in a girl the delusion that she's not a girl simply because she likes quadbikes and basketball and hates long hair. You're not defined by stereotypes about what you like, but you are what you are. Hopefully you'll see that one day. Until then, fine, be mad at me.
Nice: Sure, I'll stop posting uncomplimentary things about your religion because seeing them bothers you. Kind: No, your rules about your religion apply to you, not me. Your beliefs aren't immune to criticism or scrutiny just because they're "dearly held" by you. You should probably get used to the fact people are going to talk about them in ways you don't like and don't get to control, because there's a lot of people out there. Getting upset all the time is only going to give them ways to get under your skin.
--
Niceness frequently looks like pandering and lying, because it's easier in the short term.
Kindness often looks like healthy boundaries and telling the truth, because it's better in the long run.

What does neglect look like when it's not obvious? Because I didn't grow up in a hazardous environment, but my trauma points at serious neglect (enough to enrage my therapist). Well... in short, it's a lack of support and/or an invalidation of support.
"I support you," is a phrase that gets weaponized in unhealthy relationships. Words people use to appease or soothe or control a situation. Parents who defined support as, "I gave you life and I pay for you to live here". People in authority defining support as, "I'm paid to put up with you". Or friends defining support as, "I laugh and cry in your presence". None of which are very supportive, and all of which were fairly the norm in my life. I accepted this ^^^ as being the support I deserved while witnessing others receiving real encouragement, acceptance, and upliftment.
And before anyone gets started: I was a child; a child doesn't innately know how to ask for things (it's taught, not innate behavior), nor should a child have to beg to be loved.
So neglect can look like a lack of encouragement. Neglect can look like justifying bare-minimum "service" or obligation as support (eg "I could turn you out, but I keep you here out of the kindness of my heart"). Neglect can look like failing to teach your child/student/ward how to ask for help or express what they need (and then failing to give them what they ask for OR failing to explain why it can't be given). Neglect can look like refusing to reinforce - expressing a kind of support once, and then losing patience the next time instead of remembering habits take time and repetition to develop.
Supporting someone doesn't need the words "I support you". Support can look like genuine interest in someone's well-being. Support can look like assistance or picking up slack. Support can look like a silent present when the world hurts/sucks. Support can look like keeping someone on task for success (eg "Did you take your meds", "Have you eaten", "Are you prepped for the test", "What's the thing you needed to do by next week", etc). Support can look like clear, detailed instructions, especially for the neurodivergent. Support can look like reinforcing someone's pronouns or vouching for their identity or their hyperfixations. Support can look like going up to the painting made by the one person in the room that seems to have no friends, and finding something genuinely uplifting about it to say to the artist. Support can look like offering to come to the house of a parent with a newborn to do chores, prep food, and let parent take a nap and a shower (not to see the baby and bounce). Support can look like holding a person's boundaries in the face of someone they bend to. Support can look like paying attention. Support can look like equity vs fairness.
Imagine a LACK of all of the above. Imagine someone who might have never faced hostility or a hazardous environment, but also never received any form of acknowledgment, validation or encouragement. Imagine someone who has received this support, but not in a particular circumstance, or that it was backhanded or came with expected reciprocation. And now you have a picture of just how common and widespread neglect really is.
Be aware that it takes a lot of energy for a neglected person to encourage themselves forward. If you see it (or even if you don't see it), offer the pick-me-up that's in your spoon drawer to offer. SHOW your support, don't TELL them you support them. And let others know when you need it, too, by being exact about explaining what you need.

I think it's really important to remember that many of the behaviors that we see as "problematic" are perfectly natural behaviors for dogs, and that many of the things that we ask them to do such as walking in a straight line beside us are unnatural and hard asks for them! This is why it's so important to take the time to teach dogs what we are asking for with compassion, and remember that while these tasks may seem simple to us, they are a lot for them! In addition to this, when training a new behavior to replace natural behaviors, that we give them other ways to fulfill that need or better yet, come to a compromise that works for both.
For example when teaching a loose leash walk, I want the dog to keep the leash loose, and I don't want them stepping right in front of my feet (for safety), but I'm happy to have them sniff plenty, walk ahead of me, and cross sides safely. I tailor my criteria to teach this so that I can walk comfortably, their joints are kept safe, and they still get to do all of those doggy things!

Lemme Clear Sum Up About R-
In a previous post, I went over how using R- principles is fine when used correctly. I mentioned how it's the mindset that tends to slip in when using a pressure/release system often goes to a more manipulative side. What I should have mentioned when giving examples such as those who justify hitting, slapping, or smacking the animal no longer makes the training R-.
R- means Negative Reinforcement. The negative just means something is being taken away. So if you're lunging, you have a whip and the whip is supposed to be there to apply pressure within your pressure/release system. When you take the whip away and the animal stops what they are doing, that is supposed to be the reward because the pressure is off.
The hitting, slapping, or smacking is actually Positive Punishment. This is when you add a consequence to an unwanted behavior like how you may punish a child for not doing their chores and you decide to add more chores on top of it. The positive in positive punishment is the addition of a punishment.
Therefore, many traditional equestrians use R- principles but somewhere along the way the R- becomes P+.
Example:
You're lunging the horse using a whip to apply the pressure (R-)
The horse stops suddenly and instead of tapping it with the whip as you should, you chose to smack its back end until it gets moving again (P+).
The horse stopped when you didn't want it to, so as a consequence of its actions, you add a punishment.
R- does get a bad rep. If not for having "negative" in its name ( a lot of people get thrown off by that), it's that most horse people do R- and then slip into P+. This is a common trend and is why people get confused and defensive at the same time.

Benefits of Using Epoxy Coated Reinforcement Bars in Construction in Russia
INTRODUCTION
In the construction industry, selecting the right materials is crucial for ensuring the durability, safety, and longevity of structures. Epoxy coated reinforcement bars (rebar) have gained popularity in Russia as an effective solution for enhancing the performance of concrete. In this blog, we’ll explore the numerous benefits of using epoxy coated reinforcement bars in Russian construction projects and why they are becoming a preferred choice for builders and engineers across the country.
Corrosion Resistance
One of the standout advantages of epoxy coated rebar is its exceptional resistance to corrosion. In Russia, where harsh weather conditions and varying climates can lead to significant moisture exposure, traditional steel rebar is particularly susceptible to rust. The epoxy coating acts as a protective barrier, significantly reducing the risk of corrosion, which extends the lifespan of reinforced concrete structures. This is especially important in coastal and industrial areas where corrosive elements are prevalent.
Longevity and Durability
The durability of epoxy coated reinforcement bars contributes to the overall longevity of concrete structures. With reduced corrosion risks, projects utilizing these bars often experience longer service lives, leading to lower maintenance costs and fewer repairs. This durability is particularly beneficial for critical infrastructure in Russia, such as bridges and highways, where the consequences of structural failure can be severe.
Enhanced Bonding with Concrete
Epoxy coated rebar offers superior bonding properties with concrete compared to uncoated steel. The textured surface of the epoxy coating promotes better adhesion, essential for effectively transferring loads between the rebar and the surrounding concrete. This enhanced bonding translates to increased structural strength and stability, vital for the demanding construction standards in Russia.
Cost-Effectiveness Over Time
While the initial investment in epoxy coated reinforcement bars may be higher than traditional rebar, their long-term benefits can lead to significant cost savings. Reduced maintenance and repair needs, coupled with increased longevity, make epoxy coated rebar a cost-effective choice in the long run. For construction projects in Russia, this means a better allocation of resources over time.
Versatility in Applications
Epoxy coated rebar is suitable for a diverse range of construction applications across Russia. From residential buildings to industrial facilities and major infrastructure projects, these bars can be effectively utilized in various settings. Their corrosion resistance is particularly valuable in regions with extreme weather conditions, ensuring reliability in diverse environments.
Environmental Benefits
The use of epoxy coated reinforcement bars also has positive environmental implications. By minimizing the need for repairs and replacements due to corrosion, these bars contribute to reduced waste and resource consumption. Moreover, the longevity of structures built with epoxy coated rebar can lower carbon footprints over time, aligning with sustainable construction practices increasingly emphasized in Russia.
Regulatory Compliance
Many regions in Russia have specific regulations and standards governing construction materials, particularly for public infrastructure. Epoxy coated reinforcement bars often meet or exceed these regulatory requirements, making them a compliant and safe choice for projects that require adherence to strict safety and durability standards.
Safety and Performance
In addition to enhancing structural integrity, epoxy coated rebar improves overall safety. The durability and corrosion resistance provided by these bars help prevent unexpected failures, ensuring the safety of construction workers during the build and the future occupants of the structures. This focus on safety aligns with Russia's growing commitment to high-quality construction standards.
Conclusion
Epoxy coated reinforcement bars offer significant advantages for construction projects in Russia, enhancing the performance, longevity, and safety of concrete structures. With their corrosion resistance, superior bonding properties, and cost-effectiveness, these bars are becoming a preferred choice for builders and engineers looking to create durable and sustainable constructions. As the industry continues to evolve and adapt to new challenges, the adoption of epoxy coated rebar is likely to grow, contributing to the resilience and safety of Russia’s infrastructure for the future.
