thoughts on what kind of music taste t-141 has?? i can't stop thinking about this and your opinion 👀👀

I have a few! I tried really hard to think about what would be playing on the radio as each of them drove somewhere, and came up with this.

Price: I think he was an OG Alt Kid and did his research on rock which lead him right to the blues. And now his playlist is mostly a mix of blues and rock (garage, blues, alt, psychedelic), bluegrass. Folk. Divorced Dad Rock. 70s Roadtrip. Swamp Rock & Cajun Blues.

Soap: like Gaz, his taste is expands across genres but he's more of a Top 40 to Gaz's unending appetite. His choice mostly depends on his mood/the occasion. He has no shame when it comes to music, either. There's no "guilty pleasures" - just what he likes. Pop. Pop Rock. R&B. Soul. Indie. Folk. Rap. Hiphop. Rock. Metal. New Wave. Sea shanties. Traditional folk. If it sounds good to him, he'll listen. He also tends to adopt the music taste of whoever he's interested in - regardless of what genre it is. But he has a special kinda love for late 90s early 2000s R&B, and 80s synthpop/poprock, and a playlist for every occasion.

Ghost: I don't think his taste in music has changed at all since he was in his late teens, early 20s. Metal. Rock. Classic rock. Classical (Vivaldi. Bartók. Sibelius. Prokofiev. Shostakovich. Stravinsky. Verdi). It's not really because of any genre loyalty. I just think he adds those artists and songs under the umbrella of liked music because it's a habit, and something he used to do as a teen assembling mixtapes with Tommy. They probably hung out at local bars and listened to the underground music scene in Manchester.

Mainly because my biggest, unchanging headcanon for him is that he virtually stopped existing when he was 19-20 so everything has just been habitual. (Until he meets you or Soap teaches him the meaning of "we" and teamwork.)

It still blows my mind that Redbone released a double album as their debut album. And I still don't know why they did...or, maybe I should say, why they were 'allowed' to (by their record company). I mean, I hope it'd be because the album is fucking awesome and the whole thing deserves to be heard by everyone at least once. I'm just curious if there were other factors that led to that happening, though. And finding any sort of historical context about Redbone pre-Wovoka (1973) online is pretty much none, aside from some history of how the band formed.

i once did extensive research into this. way more than anyone should for a character way past his relevance. and i'm still discovering new tunes i think he'd be into all the time !! i'll try not make this long winded (it will be). but for now...

we already know pink floyd, rush, and nirvana are included. they're shown through the shirts he wears !!

rush is a major one. because unlike the other two, apocalypse era peter has rush all around him !! the rush posters in his basement. the leg cast with "i luv rush." it's safe to say he's kind of a rush fanboy (and he's so real for that because rush is rad as hell).

i have a list of bands/artists i can confirm he canonically likes, as they've been referenced before. whether it be through background clues (posters, background music, etc), or because they were explicitly mentioned by people involved in making the films.

peter definitely enjoys rock overall. but he doesn't seem averse to mainstream pop either. so we can probably assume he'll listen to anything, as long as it's catchy !!

Academy Of Music - New York City

This early show was first advertised in the final third of January, though initially only with Argent noted. Nazareth cancelled several weeks prior to the show (ads noted such as early as the first week of March), but had appeared in advance print ads, as had Graham Central Station in place of Redbone. KISS wasn't mentioned in ads until Mar. 14. Argent had recently arrived from the U.K. leg of their "Nexus" tour. A second concert was held at the venue starting at midnight with Renaissance, Soft Machine, and Eleventh House (featuring Larry Coryell). - From a local review: "Rock groups do not travel light, and six of them — heavily amplified and some decked out with special equipment — caused jams backstage and delays out front at the Academy of Music on East 14th Street on Saturday night and well into Sunday, thus giving their audience an eight‐hour composite of the state of the art. But if rock groups take their time setting up, rock audiences don't let it bother them. An hour's wait between two performing groups aroused mere sporadic clapping of hands. An 80‐minute delay in the start of the second concert elicited barely any criticism, and the appearance of the final group, Renaissance, at 4:25 a.m. yesterday was greeted with as much enthusiasm as the opener, KISS, at 8:20 p.m. Saturday. All this bears out the theory that a basic‐rock‐music audience sees itself as much an event as what happens on stage. KISS (dressed midway between kabuki players and Spiderman) let loose sirens, fireballs, dry ice fumes, smoke bombs, and as a climax a drummer with full gear ascended 8 feet on a special platform. This was all sound and fury, signifying yet another plastic and empty rock quartet" (New York Times, 3/25/74). From an industry review: "Somehow, even if you personally couldn't get into the glitter of them all, the night did seem to belong to the opening act, Kiss (Casablanca). Take away their frills (and maybe after they receive their due, they will!), and you've got a fine rock band. Right now, their act looks as if it were choreographed by the Temptations, with aid from Alice Cooper's wardrobe mistress and the Hello People's make-up staff. But from their single 'Nothin' to Lose' to their finale 'Black Diamond,' their flash was most definitely backed by more than trash. The crowd loved every shimmering moment, and this was especially evident as you moved back into the cheaper seats (sociologists take note!). This could be the next Grand Funk. Like the Railroad, the quartet might once again prove that across-the-board good press is occasionally irrelevant to the power of rock" (Record World, 4/6/1974).

“Good morning,” Harry says, smiling brightly as Hermione and I sit at the table.

“Morning,” we both reply in unison, Hermioen going to say something but is cut off when our attention darts to the old owl that all but crashes into our food on the table, sending bowls of cereal and plates of toast flying into the air.

“Ron! Get your owl in check!” I yell as Hermione magics away the spilt milk on my robes, leaving them brand new.

“Sorry, sorry. God this bird’s going to be the death of me.” Ron replies as he detaches the box in the owl's claws before shooing it away.

“What’s that?” Harry asks, pointing at the box curiously as Ron goes to open it and pulls out a long black robe with white ruffles at the collar.

“Mum’s sent me a dress!” Ron says in horror as he stares down at the old thing.

“Well, it does match your eyes. Is there a bonnet? Aha!” I shout through my laughter, pulling out a white collar with a black bow and holding it up at Ron’s neck.

“Oh shut up Y/N. You’re not funny.” Ron says dismissively as he walks over to Ginny and continues,

“Ginny here, these must be for you.”

“I’m not wearing that, it’s ghastly.” she says looking up at the dress in disgust.

Hermione lets out a fit of giggles as Harry and I smack each other, laughing at Ron, unable to control ourselves.

“What are you on about?” Ron asks confused.

“They’re not for Ginny, you idiot, they’re for you!” I shout as the Gryffindors around us join in on the laughter.

“They’re dress robes,” Hermione adds, calming down slightly.

“Dress robes, for what?” Ron responds with frustration in his voice.

“The Yule Ball has been a Hogwarts tradition since its inception,” McGonagall’s voice booms in the large room filled with girls on one side and boys on the other. Hermione and I softly giggle as we make small quips about how uncomfortable Harry and Ron look, having to sit next to Theo and Draco.

“On Christmas Eve night, we gather in the Great Hall for a night of well-mannered frivolity,” she says as she glides around the room, eyeing Harry and Draco as they make faces at each other, causing them to stop almost immediately.

“I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward. And I mean this literally as the Yule Ball is, as you know, first and foremost, a dance,” she says, sending the girls into excited conversations and the boys into a sea of annoying groans.

“Silence!” she shouts over the noise, clapping her hands together over her head, “Our school has commanded the respect of the wizarding world for over 10 centuries. And I will not have you, in the course of a single evening, besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons.” she finishes, sending everyone into quiet laughter. I look up from my fixed gaze at McGonagall at Theo who snickers softly and looks at me before mouthing, “Try saying that five times fast.”

I smirk as I try whispering it as he does the same, before McGonagall walks over in front of us, breaking our gazes at each other. “Now, to dance,” she says, waving her arms around gracefully, turning to the girl's side, saying, “is to let the body breathe. Inside every girl, a secret swan slumbers…longing to burst forth and take flight.”

She turns to the boys, cutting off whatever snide remark Ron was making, “Inside every boy, a lordly lion prepared to prance. Mr Weasley.”

She walks over to Ron swiftly as he cowers slightly, looking immensely uncomfortable as she asks him to join her.

“...Yes?”

Harry looks over at Hermione and me and we smirk at Ron as McGonagall lectures him how to put his hands on her waist.

They dance for a minute before McGonagall calls everyone over and tells us to partner up, and Theo comes up to me with a hand behind his back. “Join me for this dance?” he says jokingly as he bows forward slightly and puts one hand out making me smile and reach out for his hand before I swiftly grab Harry’s from behind him and say, “Sorry maybe next time!” over my shoulder, sending him into laughter, shaking his head as Harry looks up at me quizzingly.

“Leaving him wanting more?” he smiles at me, “Yep, I learned from the best.” I joke, referencing the endless amounts of times Harry and Ginny have gotten close but have never made anything official.

He rolls his eyes and says, “Shut up.”

“Have you even asked her yet?” I ask as we sway to the music, “Not yet, I think I’ll do it tonight…if Ron doesn’t interrupt us again that is.”

“Don’t worry,” I say nodding my head over to the other side of the room where Ron and Hermione are trying to dance, “I think he’s got other things to worry about.”

“We really need to get a move on, otherwise we’ll be the only ones without dates,” Ron whispers to Harry as we try and recreate the potion Slughorn’s just shown us.

Harry doesn’t say anything as he smiles to himself and focuses back on his potion, making me smile softly in return knowing he’s probably asked Ginny by now and she's said yes.

“What are you smiling about?” Theo asks, interrupting me from my thoughts as he adds fluxweed into our potion and looks at me confusingly. “No reason.” I smile up at him, noticing the ring I gave him on his finger.

“So,” I say, taking my seat as we wait for our potion to boil.

“So?” he replies, taking his seat next to me and resting the bottom side of his jaw in his hand with his elbow on the table, staring at me with his blue eyes.

“Yule Ball’s in a few days, have you found a date yet?”

“Mm no not yet. Why do you ask?” he smirks.

“Oh no, no reason.” I stutter, feeling embarrassed, as I try to distract myself with the brew in front of us.

“So your bruises have healed,” I say, reaching out and holding his face to the side to examine the area they used to be on top of his sharp cheekbone. “Mhm. All better now.” He smiles.

I sigh and say, “You shouldn’t have done that you know.” “Why not? I’d do it for Blaise or Pansy or even Draco, I’d do it for any of my friends, so why not you? Especially you.” he mutters the last bit silently but my ears catch it before it disappears, making blood rush to my ears and cheeks.

“A friendship between a Gryffindor and Slytherin is unheard of. Especially considering your family and my best friends, what makes you so confident in ours?”

“I don’t know. You’re…different,” he says, standing up, “You’re not like those other Gryffindors. They’re too proud.”

I laugh after him, gathering my own things as he goes to give Slughorn our finished potion, “You Slytherin lot aren’t all that humble anyways.”

“No Star, we just know our worth.” he winks back at me as he leaves and I notice something on his side of the desk. A little envelope with my name on it.

I open it to find,

“Meet me in the Astronomy Tower after curfew. Bring a jacket.”

“You took your time,” Theo says as I walk up the stairs, holding two cups of hot chocolate for him and me.

“Shut up, I was bribing one of the elves to give me whipped cream in these this time.” I hold one of the drinks up to him to take it before he grabs both out my hands and puts them down on the floor,

“You shouldn’t have, we won’t need them.” He smiles mischievously before taking my hand and running down the large, empty corridors.

“Theo stop! Where are we going?!” I whisper yell out of surprise, grabbing his hand tighter as I run to keep up with him. “You’ll see!” He says over his shoulder, leading us out the castle and giving a few galleons to the prefect keeping watch at the door.

“Come on,” he says softly now, both of us panting from the run.

The cold wind hits me in the face and immediately sends a shiver up my spine, making me pull my jacket up slightly to cover my exposed neck.

Theo lets go of my hand and pulls his black, green and silver Slytherin scarf off and wraps the cloth around my neck, 

“Theo, will you stop being a prick and at least tell me where we’re going?”

He grabs my arm and links it in with his before saying, “We’re almost there.”

I look up at him as we walk in comfortable silence, the soft moonlight reflecting on his sharp features, his rosy cheeks and the cold vapour coming from his pink nose as he breathes and he turns to me giving me a big smile as he stops walking, turns me around and covers my eyes.

“Theo what now? You drag me out of the warm castle and make me freeze out here in the stupid snow and you didn’t even let me drink my hot chocolate and you won’t even tell me where we’re going and I’m probably going to get hypothermia at this point because of you.” I finish my rant as he turns me around, slowly removing his cold fingers from my eyes.

“Shut up and open your eyes, you drama queen.”

I can hear the smile in his voice as I open my eyes and see a big tree with a covering on top, looking like a den adorned in fairy lights and snowflake decorations. A red checkered picnic blanket resting on the ground along with my favourite pastries, hot chocolates and movies all set up on a projector facing the castle. Snowflakes all form one sentence above the movie projector screen playing Tangled, making my breath stop and a huge grin form on my lips.

Will you get tangled with me at the ball?

I turn around to find a flustered-looking Theodore with his hands in his pocket, nervously looking down at me waiting for my reaction. “You did this?” I ask with a quizzical smile on my face, still in disbelief that he went through all this effort for me.

“Yeah. Well I mean Blaise, Mattheo and Pansy helped me. Draco tried but he wasn’t any good so I got Pansy to instead. And I asked Hermione for all your favourite movies and I’ve seen you with all these pastries and hot chocolates a lot this time of year so I thought you’d like them. But I mean if you don’t that’s perfectly fine, I can scrap it all and we can pretend like this never happened and-”

“Yes.” I interrupt his rant with a smile on my face, admiring his stress over whether I’d like the gesture or not.

“And I- Sorry?” He asks breaking his rant confusingly with his eyebrows furrowed.

“Yes, I love it and I’d love to go to the ball with you Theodore.”

“Oh, I- Okay well. Okay. That’s great, that’s…Wow.” He stutters out, surprised at my response.

Theodore Nott stuttering? Nervous? When did that happen? I think to myself as he composes himself again and asks, “Shall we?” pointing to the blanket and movie playing on the projector.

I nod, smiling brightly up at him as I give him a side hug. He tenses for a moment before wrapping his arms around me and hugging back tightly.

Hello again Fab! Loved reading your thoughts about Infamous band headcanons- thanks! Following that- you mentioned a love for the 'contemporary indigenous music scene.' It made me curious about who your favs were! Do you have any recs (for those of us who may be unfamiliar) or any particular artists/groups/tracks you would wanna shoutout? :D

👀 yes i would like to talk more about this!!

ok so quick disclaimer: i am far, far from an expert on indigenous music and i am myself not indigenous which like the music im going to share is, i am just very enthusiastic about the fact this music exists and i think it's really cool what people are doing with it. there's a lot i can't cover here and i would really implore anyone interested in this, particularly if you like anything here, to look into what indigenous people are saying and suggesting (or even look into what indigenous musicians themselves are sharing!)

so how this is going to work is im going to imbed a video per band/group/musician and then link some more songs to listen to, because that way no one has to jump off the post and you can get the general vibe of the group before listening to more!

though this will make the post kinda long, even with me trying to be brief, so i put it under a cut!

note: skip down to black belt eagle scout if you want something the most related to your initial ask about delsins band asdfghjkl. that's who i thought of first when receiving the ask and while i think delsins band would probably have a different sound, black belt eagle scout was on my mind the whole time asdfghjk

now onto the rest of the post!

my first recommendation is probably halluci nation, they're probably the one people know of the most? i also recommend them first because they're who i heard first. their song electric pow wow drum was in commercials and stuff for a minute. they do like a mix of pow wow music and dubstep, which i think is really cool.

i'm going to immediately break my rules but that's purely because these two are my favorite of their songs and i think more people need to hear them (also the art is really cool and by artist nalakwsis):

Also honestly their entire album, We are The Halluci Nation, is worth a listen to. Here's the first song off the album to give you not exactly the vibe you're in for but really just a strong thesis statement to what the group, and the album, is about

There's also Tanya Tagaq. I think she's fairly known? Her work heavily features throat singing! Her work has been featured in some films and stuff (you might remember the first song I'll post from commercials for Thoroughbreds):

SIMILARLY staying on contemporary throat singing for a moment, I would also like to mention the underrated Piqsiq! I haven't had the chance to dive as deeply into their discography as I would like (hopefully soon!) but I love what I have heard!

I also think people are generally unaware people are still making traditional music, in traditional ways! For that I would like to turn attention to some of these songs:

i also legally cannot make this post without mentioning redbone, the band behind hit come and get your love, who were themselves entirely indigenous and blacklisted after making the song we were all wounded at wounded knee

and again like there's tons and tons more artists, this is just a brief mention of some of the ones i first heard and some of the ones i'm interested in listening to more of and what not. like with any minority, where there is a music genre, you will find indigenous people making music there so if any of this interest I recommend googling around and seeing what people are talking about in indigenous circles, in music circles, who the musicians are collabing with, etc etc

i just think it's really cool that this is happening because, historically, there's been a lot of bans and limitations on what indigenous people were allowed to do with their cultures so it's really cool to see people doing stuff like this.

Silla + Rise are ALSO a throat singing duo! (I think throat singing is very cool and it is very cool what these musicians are doing in this space)

As a self-taught jazz and blues musician, Leon Redbone played by ear, sometimes changing the chords of established tunes, never rehearsing with a band, and not following set lists. Leon favored material from the Tin Pan Alley era, circa 1890 to 1910.

Leon Redbone (born Dickran Gobalian) died May 30, 2019 at the age of 69.

But also — imagine him sitting on your couch, all broad shoulders and bare skin as he lounges in just his briefs. Tacky with sweat, too hot to be comfortable, you’re just as heat sapped as he is in your stretch on the floor.

He smiles, taking you in.

“You know, when I suggested we strip down, I had something else in mind.” His words are spoken in a slow, low drawl, as if too lazy to speak.

“It’s so hot though.” You bend your arms at the elbows, folding them under your chin. “I used to do this, you know. Lay on the floor when it was too hot.” You rest your cheek against the polished with age wooden floors, cool to the touch. “When I was little.”

He smiles at this little nugget of information, eventually sliding off the couch to crawl towards you and you giggle, rolling over. In nothing but your underwear, the cool wood kisses your bare back.

He bends down above your thighs, kissing the front of one. Another, another one higher and you let him. Your limbs weighted with heat, you thread your fingers through his sweat damp curls and with hooded, sleepy eyes, watch the ascend of his dark crown.

You play with the shock of white when his lips catch against your nipple, sighing into his mouth when he reaches yours with his own.

"It's so hot," you whine against his mouth, when he covers your body with his own.

Rocking his hips forward with intent, he nuzzles the edge of your jaw. "Then we better take the rest of our clothes off, huh?"

You laugh underneath him, feeling him smile against your flushed skin and find yourself nodding - because when have you ever turned this man down for anything.

"Yea," you agree, slipping your fingers underneath the band of his briefs to push them down. He rocks his hips forward again, making the space between your thighs wider for himself and pulling back just enough, he grins down at you.

"That's my girl."

any song by vincent lima really mellows me out but especially "where you're coming from", "Orpheus", and any song of Man by the Coast. excellent indie folk vibes for every sad girl (gn) out there

oooooh there are so many songs that I can't help but bounce to. Come and Get Your Love by Redbone is one of my all time fave songs. it was me and my husband's walkout song at our wedding so it always brings me happy happy memories.

on a different note, ain't my fault by zara. that song is my get ready song

honestly i am singing along to every song. i have to so basically song in existence could go here. but uhhh right now Oh Susannah by Wyatt Flores is one of my go to jams. sooo good if you like country/folk and being sad lol

just because i just watched it again Unsaid Emily from Julie and the Phantoms. honestly the whole soundtrack slaps but that song gets the tears flowing every time

20. a song for a playlist for the person who sent this ask?

this is the hardest question of all. because like it you were a different planet (say Jupiter) there's an easy answer lol but i'm going with two very different options.

Mattering Ram by Penny and Sparrow. it is a sad folk song about how everything in life matters even the small "insignificant" things simply because life is beautiful

and then Stand Out Fit In by One OK Rock. Japanese punk band (a good portion of their stuff is also in english but their japanese stuff is also soooo good even if you don't speak the language). this song is just about the expectations and impossible standards that society puts on its young people (and really everyone) to stand out but also match the status quo. and you seem like someone born to stand out, Saturn💕

💜 - What genre of music do you think they would listen to? Do they have a canon favourite?

hard to say.

But in all seriousness, yeah, Quill being a huge classic rock fan is mentioned all the time. Who can blame him? The stuff's good.

He's got a couple of established favourite artists, including the fictional band Star-Lord from MGOTG 2021 (the game) and David Bowie (who he names one of his ships after). He also mentions another, but that's about to come up ...

💘 - Does your f/o have their own song? This can be a song they sing, a song related to them, or even fan songs!

So, he kinda has more than one! He has some that are canonically ones he associates with himself.

Obvious examples are obvious. In the MCU he outright says that Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Suede "belongs" to him, but that could be less related to the specific song and more related to the fact someone took his cassette player. Who's to say.

Zero to Hero is like, THE quintessential Star-Lord song to me. The band, not the character- there's actually a music video for the song on YouTube that you can watch. Obviously the band exists for his name to have been derived from, therefore the song itself only exists because of him.

The lyrics themselves are also definitely ones that you could tie to Quill. Like shit, just listen to the first verse.

There's another two picks that came up recently in the Marvel Rivals community that I know a lot of people associate him with that have shown up in source materials; Come and Get Your Love by Redbone and The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. I've seen a couple of edits and videos for Star-Lord, but those two songs seem to have come up the most. But these don't necessarily count.

So, Fox on the Run by Sweet was in the GOTG2 trailer. You guys remember that?

Well, I do, and it's also the song I like associating with him the most. Not just because it happens to be the one that helps me lock tf in when I play as him in Rivals.

I've liked comparing him to animals, and foxes tend to be one of them. He's sly and quick witted, two traits very often associated with them. The tendency to focus on him having a red colour scheme in the modern era does also add to that.

But, of course, there are two other reasons.

This panel is the thread that sewed the idea of him being tied to it.

You rush to the sink to turn it on you grabbed a rage to warp around your fingers until you go to get a band-aid

NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL 2024 - SUNDAY.

The Newport Folk Festival, the most important and enduring music festival in the United States, brought its 65th festival to a close with a beautiful Sunday lineup.

Conan O'Brien & Friends closed Sunday night with a star packed set. Dawes and Conan's longtime bandleader Jimmy Vivino were the backing band of the night, Nick Lowe joined to play his hits “So It Goes” and “Cruel to Be Kind,” Brittany Howard grooved to Redbone’s “Come and Get Your Love,” Nathaniel Rateliff hopped on stage for covers of Fred Neil’s “Everybody’s Talking” and Mavis Staples came out for The Staples Singers classic “I’ll Take You There.” Conan closed the set with Jack White!

The aforementioned Brittany Howard had a huge set on the Fort Stage before Conan. She's spectacular live and this set was no exception.

De La Soul played a very loud set at the standing room only Quad Stage. They were great!
