Glad someone else noticed Rhaenys not even attempting to move Daemons hand from her lower belly lol I've been wondering how often that man does that to his cousin ever since because there was no hesitancy. And the way his eyes were locked on to that spot too!!!!! The look she gave him too lolol she's been denying him for years and still he burns for her, even after taking her daughter from her, she is exhausted
I've seen someone call them chaos cousins and LOL that so fits these two red dragons' dynamic hehe.
Daemon is such a psycho that Rhaenys denied him, so years later, he married her daughter.
!!!!
She definitely tried to burn him when she found out, that's the real reason they changed the relationship dynamics from the books, and had Daemon and Laena stay in Pentos all that time instead of coming back, Rhaenys wanted to castrate him for defiling her daughter because he couldn't have her and he knew it... but she couldn't help the softness that overcame her when she found out about the twins.. especially Rhaena, clearly named for a mix of Rhaenys + Laena.
Oh don't get me started on them and their dragons !! The symbolism of Rhaenys riding his mother's dragon Meleys, and Daemon riding her father's dragon Caraxes !!
Now I wish we got a visual of the two of them flying together in the show :( I want to see the two greatest beauty of red beasts flying together, the Blood Wyrm and the Red Queen :(
ALL OF THIS !!!!!!
they are so interesting !!!

Veritistrasz, And The Dragon's Pain Of Returning Home.
Tumblr media
I'm sure by now the quest in WoW Dragonflight where you simply sit next to a dwarf disguised Dragon and listen to a story is old news. Likely written about dozens of times on this very website, but, I really just want to do a post about how much I appreciated it, and how much it does for the overall vibe and feeling of Dragonflight as a World of Warcraft expansion. Veritistraz's story isn't an easy one for them to tell, nor an easy one to listen to. It's a brutally tragic story about their first hand experience of losing multiple loved ones in a war that happened so long ago he can barely remember, but put into the context it's in, it also becomes something of beauty. While the content of the story itself may be grim, it's paired wonderfully with the sweeping vista from the Ruby Life Shrine looking out into the Waking Shores area of the Dragon Isles. It's the harshness of biter memories colliding with something of true beauty in a way that can't really be reconciled, but should be thought about. It's also indicative, I think, of a new type of storytelling mission within Dragonflight, one that I greatly appreciate. While of course, it's an outlier, and most quests in the game still require you to kill 1-10 things, or collect up some magical artifacts, having this quest so early on sets a tone. Returning to the Dragon Isles isn't exactly a sweeping victory for the Dragon Flights of Azeroth. Not only are their the obvious issues to solve from a practical standpoint, you get the sense from many of these characters that they likely never thought they'd actually see this place again. Now that they're home, they don't know how to effectively grapple with that reality. This idea is communicated calmly, via this quest that consists almost entirely of listening to an old dragon speak about their life. You don't spur this memory by bringing Veritistraz the severed head of a dragon that wronged him. They just want to look out at their home that they only vaguely remember of their own accord, and it's up to you to join them. It's a quest that looks to show us that not every story beat in World of Warcraft needs to be about the end of the world, something Shadowlands struggled with especially.
For something as bombastic as "Dragons returning to their magical island", the undercurrent of pain that all these dragons feel returning to their homeland is a remarkable choice for a game like World of Warcraft. A game that, at best, struggles with complicated emotions, and at worst outright ignores them in favor of jokes or end of the world stakes that never slow down. It's an undercurrent I hope that not only this expansion continues, but also manages to find a way to stick around for further adventures in Azeroth. I love me some bombast, and I'll always welcome it, but sometimes, stopping and looking at the river is all we really want to do, even if we don't think about it.

Never gonna get over how the anime made this scene just so,, haunting and elevated. Like I love the manga but I love how the anime has taken these scenes and elevated the themes of death and rebirth with simple shots like this and it鈥檚 why even after reading all of the manga I still get excited for the anime because I *know* the anime will not only be a faithful adaptation, but also an artistic masterpiece as it uses the medium to its advantage

My favourite bit of BG3 lore is that Withers is legitimately responsible for the Dead Three, but he's probably too embarrassed to tell you, so every time you ask him to elaborate he just gives you a very stern, "Noooo."
Tumblr media
I also love that the reason he's responsible for their uprising is because he got bored. He literally got bored of his position as Lord of the Dead and wanted to retire, so when these three morally questionable humans came looking for godhood he was like, "Hmmm. Yes, okay. Here. Take my portfolios. Fight over them. I don't care. I quit."
Tumblr media
So after bowling with skulls in a friendly competition to decide who would get what portfolio, they took up his powers and wreaked havoc on the world. Only at that moment did Jergal, AKA Withers, AKA our precious Bone Daddy think, "I'm just now, internally, asking myself, in quite a worried way, whether I might've made an error."
Tumblr media
So he joins your merry band and watches your escapades, calmly twiddling his fingers while you clean up his mess. He's happy to lend his aid, even to the point that he'll bring Durge back to life if they reject Bhaal, even though he technically shouldn't. But he's Withers. The rules don't apply to him. If Ao doesn't like it, he can descend from the Heavens and say it to his rotting face.
Tumblr media
And the reason he saves Durge isn't necessarily because he likes them or because he's a morally good entity (though one certainly could make that argument), but because he wants to add insult to injury. He steals Bhaal's child with a big smile on his face, dubs them his Chosen, and praises them for rejecting all the power they were promised. But of course, he still doesn't tell them who he is鈥攐r rather who he was.
Tumblr media
Then, when all is said and done, he throws Tav and their companions a cute little party. No one knows it's probably half a thank you party and half a "Withers is bored again" party. And if anyone misbehaves, he'll get irritated and whisk them away. Because how dare they? He put a lot of work into that.
Tumblr media
And at the end of it all, he walks up to a mural of the Dead Three and basically goes, "Lmao. Thou didst fuck around, and thou didst find out." Just savagely roasting them.
Tumblr media
And then poof!
He waves them into non-existence.
