but uhhh controversial opinion for a fandom that does not exist on tumblr dot com:
walker is not a cool or admirable character, period. he serves as a good villain in both the sense that he has a flawed ideology AND he has a huge history with nomad. but other than that? he is such a pathetic character. he is not a sigma male. he is not a guy to look up to/aspire to be. walker is an ultra-nationalist turned destructive warmongerer (literally willing to start ww3 and blame it on the middle east to "prove a point" about red tape). not to mention just a white supremacist as a whole oh and the red tape in question? him not being allowed to legally torture prisoners of war and have pissing contests with command for intel that could, quite literally, destroy the world. i'm glad we kill him in breakpoint, actually. he deserved it.
and i say this having a ship with him and my nomad. i never said she was innocent either. she's a military brat through and through. and unfortunately that means not seeing the flaws of the complex. she's a thorough agent of it.
the only difference between her and walker is that she wisens up throughout the plots of the two ghost recon games and realizes that hey. maybe this approach is bad. maybe we can actually, i dunno, TRYYY to solve things without genocide?
you could say she's an idealist because she genuinely believes the military does well. but from a meta perspective we know that isn't true. that, and her and walker are only a true thing before the events of either ghost recon (though they do have a fling in wildlands) but i digress-
#txt#ask#OOP i apparently had more feelings abt this than i thought yeehaw#yknow what? this goes in my tags i like this#my ocs#meta analysis#otp: quantum impact

“Well it clearly obviously does favour you.” He’d be pouting if he could.
Rin manages a soft chuckle. "My Jay reacted the same way. Then he had the audacity to get mad at me when he learned I could make waves. Pouted and said the ocean liked me better."

Origin Stories Part Three: Stumble and Fall
"Thank you for sharing." Elliott said over coms. There was a pause. Then as if not wanting to accept that the story had ended, he continued. "Say. Did you find anything interesting at the Truck Stop?"
Boop chuckled and leaned forward in the cockpit. A black gloved hand tapped a weird figure on the dash. Something Pip had decided was a 'Bobble Head'. Shaped like a moose, it's comically oversized head bounced back and forth. When they had found it, all those years ago, the plastic’s color had faded and spring rusted away. With a little care it looked almost good as new. Turns out Boop was halfway decent with a paintbrush.
"I'll have to show you sometime. Old world figure. Think you'd like it."
"So, guess it's my turn?"
"Nah. Take a nap. I could use some quiet myself. We should be fresh for landing anyway."
"Thats fair." There was mild disappointment in Elliott's voice. "Poke me if anything comes up."
"Will do." Boop muted the channel, and reached back into the thick black fur lined hood, causing Pip to release an angry sounding series of beeps. "Stop that. I want to recline. I can't do that with you there!"
"Oh fine." Pip grumbled as he was removed from the hood, but the lights flowing across his eye was a slow content parade of color. He resettled in Boop's arms once the Hunter had leaned the seat back, and the two settled in for some nice reflective quiet.
---------------------
"Arrival in fifteen minutes."
Elliott jerked awake, the scraps of some dream involving Hive fading quickly from memory. He rubbed his face and shook his head, trying to remove the fog of sleep. Caush hovered steadily at his shoulder.
"Pip's chosen landing zone is an estimated twelve minutes, twenty second sparrow ride from the target. Should give us an element of surprise. I would have picked a location further out, to reduce the chances of the ships being spotted, but calculations show the distance is… adequate."
Caush was rambling again. Elliott squeezed his way out of the small cockpit and into the only slightly larger space behind the pilot’s seat. He had to stoop quite a bit.
"It's an industrial area, lots of cover. Target is holed up in a shipping warehouse. We unfortunately don't have recent info on the area, but I've prepared multiple calculations on the most likely scenarios."
Their ship wasn't appointed great for long trips away from the tower, but the two of them wouldn't trade it for the shiniest exotic. It was a junker Caush had discovered many years ago, long before finding Elliott. Keeping the ship's location secret the Ghost had waited till his Titan's first Dawning to reveal its location. Together the two had worked many long hours fixing it up. To them it was worth the world. It could seat four between the cockpit and a wide bench behind in a space not big enough to call a cabin. However, there was plenty of storage hidden in the walls and floor. And while the ship did boast some decent communications and recon equipment, it completely lacked any form of living luxuries. But they made do.
Fighting with a latch that probably should be replaced, Elliott opened one cabinet and stored his empty thermos, and retrieved a second one. He cracked it open, and smiled in relief at escaping steam. He always brought multiple.
"Pip passed on that Boop said to be ready for a fight. In a confined area." Caush sounded miffed. "As if I hadn't already considered that possibility. What do they think I am? Some kind of Battle Frame?"
"I'm sure it wasn't meant that way." Elliott opened another cabinet, this one was in much better shape. He started pulling out ammo packs, holding each one up for Caush to store in a flurry of sparks. "Now. What do you think we should take?"
Caush's solitary eye was a flurry of color as he ran calculations again. Potential threats, the target's location, all known data was sifted through till he was satisfied with the outcome.
"Take that absurd auto rifle of yours. The spread will be useful in close quarters. That new scout we found might come in handy, If we need the range. And, of course, the machine gun."
"Sounds good to me."
Elliott pulled the suggested gear from various cabinets, giving Caush the machine gun to hold on to. The scout went across his back, the auto he'd keep at the ready.
"Brace for landing." Caush said, and Elliott widened his stance. Not that he needed too, Caush was an impeccable pilot and there wasn't even the slightest bump as the ship was set down.
The two disembarked just in time to see Boop summoning a black sparrow that was as sleek and silent as the Hunter's jumpship. Elliott did the same, his own being in better shape then his ship, as it was quite a bit newer. It had been gifted to him by the first Guardian he had ever met. A Titan by the name of McKay.
Their Ghosts dematerialized and they took off In silence. Well, almost silence, as Caush gave regular updates to the both of them as they traveled. They had done countless ops together, they knew their roles.
As they got close to the location, Boop picked up speed, and Elliott slowed, letting the distance widen between them. He watched as his friend took a hard left and vanished down a side street. Elliott did not follow. He’d approach the obvious way. Draw attention to himself, while the Hunter snuck in to cause chaos from behind.
“Large building with blue trim. Up on the left.” Caush said, and while his voice was calm and steady, there was a slight hint of anticipation to it. “Adjusting calculations.”
“How close are your predictions so far?”
“Too soon to tell. Estimated thirty minutes of engagement remaining to make an accurate calculation. But 99.8 percent. Prior data suggested the building’s trim was green.”
Elliot laughed and shook his head, Caush loved his data. The Titan accepted the roles in their relationship. His Ghost did the thinking, he punched things.
Reaching the building Caush had pointed out, he cut the sparrow's engine and jumped off, letting it glide to a halt without him. He hit the ground running towards a gaping hole in the wall where an entrance might have once been. It looked suspiciously like something large had forced it's way in. He had to watch his footing as he went, for a series of evenly spaced potholes, like small impact craters, dotted the already heaved and cracked asphalt.
"Well, that's familiar eh?" He joked, not slowing his pace.
"Updating calculations. It was an unfortunate possibly."
"We'll handle it. Update Boop."
"Already done. Not answering me, but that's expected."
Suddenly he was through the gaping hole, sunblind in the dark interior. He ducked to the right, to put his back against a wall, auto rifle at the ready. Keeping the potholes in mind he threw his shoulder forward, forcing his Light into a glittering barricade in front of him. Elliott waited the breathless heartbeats as his eyes adjusted, listening expectantly for the sounds of wire rifles.
But nothing came. All was silent.
"Huh."
"This is quite outside my calculations. I'm not detecting any lifeforms."
"None?"
"Nothing."
"Ok then. Let's take a look around."
Elliott stepped forward through his barricade, auto rifle up. Still there was no movement. No sound.
The interior of the warehouse had been modified into Eliksni style housing, a true maze of ramshackle walls and fabric. Elliott slowly worked his way through twisting halls, noting the signs of a hasty exit. Debris of all sorts strewn about the alcoves. Articles of clothing, household items, technology scraps and things he couldn't name.
"Odd. Very much outside of expected parameters." Caush's observations were made from the safety of non material space. No way he would risk exposure in such an unknown situation. "Signs of quick vacation. Estimated time, three days ago."
Eventually Elliott came to a large open area that was roughly in the center of the building. Here the concrete floor gave way to wood and salvaged carpets, and a good chunk of the ceiling was gone, letting light in and illuminating the area. A central square? Gathering place?
Curious he stepped into the space, eyes sweeping left and right, looking for trouble. It was quiet.
Suddenly, something small pinged off his helmet. His auto rifle came up instinctively, looking for the source. A thumbnail sized pebble rolled to a stop in front of him.
Scanning the environment again quickly, something caught his eye. Up. A silhouette was outlined against the sky waving hands in an almost frantic chopping motion. Boop.
“Caush?” He started, but he didn't need his Ghost to tell him this had most likely been a trap. Boop wouldn't have let him walk blind into something unless… suddenly he remembered the radio silence.
The darkness to his left shifted. Then his right. Far to many sets of sickly yellow-green eyes started appearing all around him as the forms lumbered forward from the dark. Elliott glanced back the way he came and saw more. Totally surrounded. A slightly manic grin came to his face. Of all the enemies of humanity, Hive was his favorite to fight. Why they were here and not Eliksni, he didn’t know or care.
Caush started rambling away inside his head, listing positions and numbers, possible cover locations and anything else he thought might benefit the Titan. Elliott leveled his auto rifle at the largest group, and pulled the trigger.
PAFF.PAFF.PAFF. The auto rifle chuffed, kicking back violently in Elliott's hands. PAFF.PAFF.PAFF. With each firing four barrels went off in unison, creating an unavoidable hail of death not unlike a shotgun scatter, but with the reach and predictability of an auto rifle.
In the heartbeats between trigger pulls, he was dimly aware of the crack of Boop's sniper.
Hive Thralls fell in droves from bullets and Elliott's Arc covered fist. Knights slowed their charge to a standstill at his onslaught. But when an Ogre lumbered out of the shadows it was Elliott who gave ground. He did so willingly, needing the space. If he didn't thin the masses soon he would be overwhelmed. Out in the center of the open area his mind touched Caush's. No words were exchanged, just impressions. They were ready.
Elliott jumped, utilizing Light to gain extra height. His body exploded in a fury of Arc energy. Fists together, eyes blazing, he plummeted towards the Ogre, alight in a maelstrom of lightning.
One good slam should clear out enough to turn the tide.
Boop screamed his name, voice filled with panic.
As Elliott hit the ground and broke through the false wood floor he understood why.
It had been a trap after all.

Humans are Space..... Pets?
I am really sorry guys. This was a new idea and style that turned out to be kind of complicated, so it will be longer than usual. As someone who typically writes novels, this short story stuff is really demanding since it requires you to be entertaining and concise without description which is my favorite. So, Hope you like it.
“Tell us your oddest story, Captain.”
“Weirdest story, huh?” Captain Vir sets his glass down on the bar and tilts his head back thinking as he stares at the ceiling, “Well, you know what, since it’s been declassified, I suppose I can go ahead and tell you.” He picks up his drink again and takes a draw.
“Have you ever heard of Heaven’s Gate Nebula?”…”Of course you have. Well, so it’s this really weird cluster of stars just off Andromeda, not technically part of the galaxy but sort of orbiting it. Now you Know Nebulas are actually star nurseries, so generally stars within nebula tend to be really young….. the problem here is that emissions form Heaven’s Gate indicated 100-200 main sequence stars. I know, not a whole lot for a cluster. The GA had tried to investigate before, but with no real luck, they thought maybe a human crew would have more luck. And as a newly promoted captain with a newly christened ship, I was ready for any job they wanted to throw at me. So, with my new crew, and my new ship, I headed in, this was all before I met Sunny and Krill, and before I lost my eye.”
He finishes the glass and wipes his mouth on his sleeve, “We took it into the dust cloud, and I had to take manual control of the ship. I was nervous, I fly jets, and jets are relatively small, but I had to remember that I was about a thousand feet wider than I am used to. We were navigating mostly by short range radar, so I would only have a few seconds to make it through. Luckily there was no real debris in our way, and when we broke out of the cloud a few hours later, we enter this ….. Open area about solar system wide. Scans showed it had one main sequence star and four planets with a collective 12 moons. There was one planet in the goldilocks zone, so we took her in. I ordered our navigations expert to plot a landing course onto the planet for a shuttle, and then I went down and got together a team of Marines to take our first look. Ok, maybe I was being an idiot, I’m the captain, leading search parties isn’t exactly my job, but I would be damned if I was going to miss exploring an entirely undiscovered planet.”
***
“Alright, Jar Heads, suit up, we’re approaching the LZ.” Behind him the sound of helmets clipping into place over suits was comforting. Captain Vir pulled on his own helmet quickly locking it into pace with one hand as he maneuvered the shuttle towards the planet’s surface. It was green, Like Earth, very green though it wasn’t really due to trees. The ground itself was covered with a very thin layer of moss…. Or so it appeared. The foliage itself was rather sparse, with an odd assortment of trees, and some sort of ferns.
He chose an area next to one of these little clusters, lading their craft with a soft whirr of air. He cut the engines and grabbed his weapon.
The marines were waiting for him ready for exit weapons at the ready, “Alright, Chairfroce, your orders?” The sergeant asked with a good natured nod.
“I defer to you, jarhead. This is simple recon, stay quiet, and keep low. If you see anything, do not engage, we aren’t here to start trouble.” The men nodded, at the front one held up a hand counting down from five before pressing the button to drop the ramp, and in a coordinated unit, the group rushed from the craft and into a wide circle around the ship leaving the copilot to watch over the ship. Captain Vir stopped behind the point man lowering his weapon and checking the readings from his suit. He had been trained to determine the safety of a particular atmosphere. It was a chill 22 degrees F but the oxygen level was 14.8% oxygen content which would equal out to feel like a relatively high altitude. The rest was nitrogen like you would expect on Earth. With one hand, he slapped the point man on the shoulder who, in turn, gave a hand signal to the rest of the group. One of their designated men reached up, and pressed the release sequence on his helmet. It dropped into his hand with a hiss and he took a deep breath. The group watched as he took a few more deep breaths monitoring his blood oxygen content from the monitor on his suit before giving a nod to the captain, who gave another signal. The rest of the group removed their helmets, though a few kept face masks close at hand, not comfortable completely with the low oxygen content. Helmets were strapped to their waists.
Captain Vir ordered them into a loose arrowhead formation at a good 20 feet apart. He fell in at the very far left of the formation towards the thickest area of foliage weapon pressed into his shoulder lowered into a ready position as they began moving slowly through the foliage. He the advanced eye piece over his left eye to keep track of the crew as their red dots moved through the foliage. He couldn’t always see the next man over and up, but he could see the dots.
He was coming up on a very thickly wooded area now, and cut into the trees doing his best to keep up with the marines who moved low and fast through the trees. They were near silent, and he did his best to emulate them as he did so. Yeah, he was trained in combat, but the last war he was in took place strictly on stone, moss and ash, branches hadn’t really been a problem.
He took another step forward into the foliage trying to find a grounded place to put his foot… but then…. There was nothing there. He had one moment of horrible realization before his stomach dropped out from underneath him, and he went plunging downwards.
He hit the rock with a hard crack maybe five feet below, and then bounced over to go tumbling like a pinball down the hill. He might have heard the cry of one of the marines over the com before it was dashed to pieces against a rock. In an attempt to keep his head covered, he turtled into the collar of the space suit, allowing it to take most of the impact as he rolled into another rock and was sent flying down a mossy incline. His weapon was ripped from his hands, and the sling snapped catching him on the cheek as it went.
Now loosed from its grip, his arms flailed and clawed at the ground as he fell. Body crying out in anguish against the pain of his fall. The end of the hill came, and he was pitched over another, small, five foot drop. Landing flat on his back… The pain was incredible, not as bad as losing his leg, but still. He looked down through his bleary vision…. Shit…. His leg, the entire F***ing thing was gone…..
A shadow passed over him from above, and in groggy delirium he looked up squinting against the silhouette, massive, hairy, and reaching out towards him.
He blacked out.
***
He woke up to the chatter of unknown creatures, lying on his back on a bed of soft moss staring up at a leafy ceiling above. Squinting past his own delirium and the bright light in his face he tried to make sense of the scene forcing himself to sit up past the pain in his body and the weight of his suit. The striations in the leafy ceiling resolved themselves as he stared on….. realizing in horror that he was looking at bars. He pushed himself upwards the rest of the way limping/hopping over to the bars where he stopped staring out at the world around him. Stacks and stacks of cages, full of strange alien creatures with fur and feathers, and spines chattering and gambling about their cages hissing and yapping at each other.
He rushed around the cage tugging at the bars, trying to find a locking mechanism, but seeing nothing. He tried to force himself through the bars cursing when his chest was too wide to make it through, even sideways. He tugged even harder and came down hard to the ground without the support of his prosthetic. Missing a leg, there was only so much he could do. The boot of his suit and half of the lower leg had been ripped off leaving him with a useless and dangling bit of fabric. He cursed the stupid thing silently. His REAL leg wouldn’t have just fallen off like that. Sure his remaining leg hurt like a bitch, but at least it was still working.
Piece of garbage.
He glanced around a little more taking a deep breath. First thing was first, he had to find out where he was. He didn’t get much time to figure this out before the air itself was rocked and shattered by an immense vibration. It was a sound like someone had turned the base all the way up on their car speakers. The bars of his cage rattled, his insides rattled, his teeth rattled. Whatever made that sound had to be f***ing massive.
And that’s when the absolutely immense creatures stepped into the room. It was at least 40 feet tall and looked like a cross between Sasquatch, a bear, and King Kong. With a gasp he scrambled back in his cage, as two of the other creatures stepped into the room with it. One of them was about as tall if not taller, and the other was maybe 30 feet tall give or take. As their mouths open, the entire room rumbled with the deep base of their voices. He fell to one knee hands to his chest as if he was trying to hold in his bones.
He couldn’t have known that the creatures were quite sentient naming themselves the Magnites of the Magnapedibus, and they were here for one very specific reason. The taller, and older of the two guests browed their way around the room glancing in cages and speaking to each other in their impossibly deep voices. A couple of times, they opened one of the cages and took out one of the other creatures. Vir watched from the confines of his cell with a sense of growing horror.
This could not be happening, and to make it all worse, his coms were down, and those things were getting closer to him their feet thudding like thunderclaps on the floor below. Quickly, he burrowed himself under a layer of the moss staring out form a minute hole at the scene unfolding before them. He could see that the cages lifted from the top, but there was no way he was going to manage to make it out if that was the case: no way in hell he was going to be able to lift that thing.
The creatures had moved onto the cage right next to his looking over a creature that had some odd recumbence to a giant rat. The smaller creature didn’t seem particularly interested in it. Little did the captain know was that the creature had daned the rat to be not cute enough for its taste. They were arguing among themselves about what the third creature was looking for. What could possibly pique interest when they had gone over the entire place, and yet there was nothing to be seen?
The shop owner gave them one last option, something strange he had picked up out in the woods today, but something he didn’t think was likely to survive. It would require special care, and he had yet to look it over for injury. They moved over to the next cage, just to find nothing visible in site. The larger creature gave a look of confusion to the owner who waved him off. The creature was scared, probably hiding. He threw open the cage lid and reached in prodding around in the moss.
Captain Vir lay as still as he possibly could feeling the ground rumble beneath him eyes closed teeth gritted. And then a massive weight pressed down on his back. Like someone was standing on him, making it hard to breathe. The weight lifted off him and light poured into his little hiding spot. The ground trembled with another mass vibrating noise
Shit! He rolled to the side just as a massive hand came down towards him. He barely escaped crawling up to one knee and scuttling to the side as the hand came after him again. A line of expletives ran through his head as he rolled dodged ad ducked out of the way hindered by his missing leg forced to scramble on three limbs as he tried to get away.
He wasn’t fast enough, the cage wasn’t big enough, and he was caught around the waist by a massive hand. He gasped for air, as the hand grew tight around his middle against his struggling and squirming. He panted pressing his hands against the clenched fist trying to pull himself out, but it was no use.
The massive creatures looked down at him with surprise and confusion. What was this thing? The owner wasn’t totally sure, but he had found it lying injured in the forest. He thought it was supposed to have four limbs, and if that was the case than it was missing one of them. The smaller creature thought that it was horribly sad…. The creature in itself looked terrified squirming and wriggling as it was, and with only one leg it must have been in immense pain. It had very large eyes, a brilliant green color and a small tuft of hair atop its head, kind of adorable, otherwise it was furless…. It must have been very cold. It held out its hands begging to hold the creature, and finally they gave in.
Vir was transferred from one hand to the other, a grip that was lighter this time, the smaller creature. He tried to squirm away again, but then became very aware of the twenty to twenty five foot drop….. he didn’t think he was likely to make that unscathed. Another massive hand was lifted up, and he cringed away as a single huge finger rubbed against the back of his head and down his upper back. Damn, it was like being stroked by a ten pound dumbbell….. it was rubbery and the palm was cracked like the pad of a dog’s foot.
The creature thought it was very cute, whatever it was, and it didn’t seem too dangerous, just an adorable, crippled little creature.
He swore that if they did that again he was going to have to beat someone’s ass, he didn’t care how tall they were…. That was just as soon as he figured out how to get away from this nonsense. That didn’t seem likely to happen as the large creature took him back, and began looking him over pinching his limbs between its massive fingers flipping him into his back like you would to examine a lab rat. He kicked out with his remaining foot as the creature tried to get a good look at his severed leg. He’d be damned if he was going to ACTUALLY get probed by aliens. At least the last ones had asked nicely.
There was more roaring, more rumbling as they tried to figure out what exactly the thing was, despite missing a limb, it didn’t appear to be in pain, but it was a feisty little creature. If they were to sell it, it would need special care, somewhere warm, a special diet, but perhaps it would make a good pet.
***
Vir was about 0% pleased with the outcome of this. His first mission and things had already gone to hell in a handbasket, or in this case what felt like a massive ass paper bag. He had been dumped into one with a handful of the strange moss, and breathing holes poked in the side. Outside he could hear more grumbling and could feel the ground underneath thudding with the footsteps of the giant creatures. He couldn’t stand with only one leg, and lay in the bottom, face pressed against the moss as they moved in short starts and stops. Eventually the rumbling died off a bit, and the movement continued bouncing him up and down inside the bag which swung back and forth.
***
Is this what it was like to be a hamster? Whatever it was like he was done. The creature had barely let him go since it had brought him back to its den. It let him go in its lap, and he’d try to scramble away only to be pulled back. If he was let down on the floor, he would have tried to run, but he was missing something kind of important. There were tons of these things being invited over to hold, pet stoke, and play with him, and he hated every moment of it. He tried to bite at least once, but that turned out to b not worth it at all, the things tasted like ass, and their skin was too thick to bite through. And then it insisted on wrapping him up in randomly soft items like it thought he was cold, like he wasn’t wearing a thermal conserving space suit. This was just a load of bullshit.
Giving some time alone, he was sure he could construct a decent pair of crutches, but that wasn’t going to happen if the creature kept insisting on holding him.
He had one other option…. He could play dead, at this current moment, which seemed to be his best option, so the moment that someone stopped paying attention, he fell limp eyes half closed just willing them to fall for it. When they came back, he watched their shadows moving around, could hear the thrumming and thudding of their voices. They picked him up, and he let his body flop to the side, he did his best to breathe as little as possible, hoping they wouldn’t notice when he did. The roaring grew more urgent, he was moved around constantly laid down prodded, poked, and he refused to move, did his best to keep still as they picked him up. There were many of the creatures there now speaking rapidly, one of them sounded very upset.
He just had to stay still.
And that’s when he heard the roar of the shuttle. The creatures apparently did too, and he watched as the ship roared in through an opening over the heads of the creatures before circling down. The creatures made some more roaring sounds. He could hear voices as the carrier landed. Wind whipped at his clothes, there was more roaring.
“CAPTAIN!”
He opened his eyes just in time, as one of the marines grabbed him by the arm and hoisted him over his shoulders racing back towards the carrier as the others covered him from behind. He was thrown to the deck inside the carrier as the ship lurched form the ground and roared forward.
The roaring grew louder, the ship tilted and swung. The marines held on for dear life as one had him pinned to the ground keeping him still as the ship rocked and rolled.
And then they shot forward and the roaring died away. Captain Vir let his head rest back on the floor breathing heavily.
“Are you alright, Captain?” The marine asked looking him over for injuries.
“Relieved to see you Marine….. relieved to see you.”

From Outer Space, the Earth is quickly coated in the purple Sigma Virus, spreading from North America to Canada. Spreading down to South America and across to Africa and Europe. Soon the entire world is draped in purple, smothered with Sigma’s Virus. The Space Colony, Eurasia seems to be in bad shape as well, with a visible explosion at it’s main entrance.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered, interference) Th…s… Hunter…ase… This is Hunter Base. Do you read me? Are you all right? Any damage?
SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) Are you all right? X! Zero! The entire Earth has been thrown into a panic because of the Sigma Virus. It’s dangerous to stay there. Report back to the Base!
ZERO: (o.s, filtered) Damn it! Sigma! You will pay for this!
X: (o.s, filtered) Even if we fight, what good will it do? A battle won’t solve the problem.

Caption: 3:30 PM
Tau, Venzo and Takuma arise from the wreckage. Venzo and Takuma look around worried, while Tau stares at his blade in awe with a purple, wicked glare in his eyes.
He holds up his large blade, which now bears a dark aura and displays a Sigma logo.
TAU: Whoa guys. Check out this power up!
VENZO: (gasping) Tau’s blade has been infected!!
Takuma shakes his head.
TAKUMA: Not just his blade. Tau, too!
Tau looks at them with an evil grin.
TAU: Sorry, guys. But I just realized that you’ve both been holding me back all this time.
VENZO: What the- No! Tau!!!
Tau swings his blade right into Venzo’s stomach without hesitation.
VENZO: Auu-uu-ughhh…
Venzo falls and twitches on the ground as blood quickly leaks out onto the floor.
Takuma takes out his T-Hammer and stares at Tau with an unforgiving face.
TAKUMA: AAAAAAAGH! TAAAU! HOW COULD YOU????

Recon Raccoon and his whole team of Special Ops look at the sky in fear. What was once a simple celebration amongst their ranks had now become a confusing stir of panic.
FRENZY FOX: What the Hell is going on, guys?
TURIAN: It’s the Sigma Virus… It’s… spreading everywhere.
RECON RACCOON: Holy shit. We gotta get out there, guys. People need us.
BARYON: If I were you… I’d worry about myself.
RECON RACCOON: Hm???
Without warning, Baryon blasts Recon Raccoon as hard as he can.
RECON RACCOON: HEY! What the Hell was that for??
FREEZE ALOPEX: He’s a Maverick!!! Watch out.
SCORCHE: Shut up, Alopex!
He pulls out his flame whip and strikes her with it, hard.
FREEZE ALOPEX: Aaaaiiii!!!!
She gets knocked down, struck hard from the blast.
FRENZY FOX: HEY!!
He stands by her and helps her up.
Tethlon looks at the group and nudges Blizzard and Blaze to help out, but they do not budge. They simply look at him with evil eyes and shake their head.
BLAZE: Stay out of this, Teth.
BLIZZARD: This has been a long time and coming… Hasn’t it, sis?
She just nods and pounds her fist.
BLAZE: Let’s settle this, right now. Who is the strongest… You? Or me…
TETHLON: GUYS, are you kidding me!!? DON’T DO THIS! Hold it together, will ya??
Turian pats Tethlon on the shoulder and shakes his head.
TURIAN: It’s no use. The Maverick Virus isn’t something you can just snap out of.
TETHLON: …Zero, did.
TURIAN: That’s a mystery that still keeps me up at night. Come on!

Takuma and Tau clash blade against hammer, pretty evenly matched.
TAKUMA: Hrrrh. Huhh. Haaah!!! Damn you, Tau. I thought you were BETTER than that!!!
He strikes Takuma hard at the side, which causes him to fall down.
TAU: (hurt) AGH. I am better than this. I’m better than ALL OF YOU!!!!
TAKUMA: NOO!!!
He raises his arms to plant a finishing blow on Tau. As he does so, Tau thrusts his blade directly through Takuma’s chestplate. Takuma’s hammer smashes through Tau’s skull and bashes his body in half, as Takuma feels the blade rupture his core.
TAKUMA: GAAAAAAAAHHHHH…. N-n.. noooooo!
His body erupts, onto Tau’s broken corpse.
Just a little farther away, X and Zero run over to witness this horrible massacre.
X: Oh my God!
ZERO: They killed each other!!! Our Elite Shinobis are gone!
X looks at his partner, sad and annoyed.
X: We’re on our own…

He turns to his dispatchers.
SIGNAS: Lucas, David. Seal the doors to every room. Hector, Kirk be ready to teleport all survivors on my command.
LUCAS & DAVID: Yes, sir!
Hector gasps and Kirk nods.
SIGNAS: I’m afraid we have no choice but to wait this out. Some of us have been infected by the Maverick Virus, while the rest of us are forced to weed out the bad ones…
He looks at one of his screens and can see that Green Noir has been infected by the virus.

He holds out a blaster to a nervous Oliver and Sierra.
OLIVER: Commander, please… Put the gun down.
GREEN NOIR: I’m in Command here! And you’re either with me, or against me!!!!
He shoots Oliver and Sierra down, which immediately sets off Rho, whose attention was on the quarreling pups.
RHO: God DAMN IT, Noir! That’s enoooouuuugh!!!!
He fires a drill from his buster, which pierces right through Green Noir’s heart.
RHO: Hmph…
Having quickly settled their dispute, he turns back towards the pups and witnesses Snowflake get killed by her brother Snowball.
Frostbite growls at Snowball and immediately attacks him. With a flurry of tackles, bites and ice blasts, Frostbite eventually gets the better of his brother and looks up at Rho with bloody lips.
RHO: Stop right there, Frostbite. Are you friend or foe…?
Frostbite twitches and looks at him with a dogged glare.
FROSTBITE: Don’t test me, Rho… I just watched the last of my family die.
Rho immediately drops his guard and crouches down.
RHO: Then it’s just us… I’m sorry, kid.
He pats his chest, welcoming Frostbite to come in for a hug.
Frostbite grimaces and slowly walks over to Rho. The two share a mournful embrace.

He unleashes a dark new wave of power, which completely overloads Recon Raccoon’s circuits.
RECON RACCOON: Gaaaaahhhh!!!! Damn it…
He tosses a pack of plastique at the overpowered Maverick.
RECON RACCOON: This should do the trick, you fucking asshole!!!!!
ANTI-BARYON: What the-
The Plastique sticks to his chest.
RECON RACCOON: Hit it, boys!!!
Turian and Tethlon look alert and they immediately fire at him with their standard blasters.
The plastique erupts into a giant explosion which overtakes Anti-Baryon, Recon Raccoon, Turian and Tethlon completely.
ALL: GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
From very nearby, Scorche and Frenzy Fox lock whips as the explosion erupts beside them. Fire and Electricity ignite as they take crack after crack at each other.
FRENZY FOX: What the Hell, Scorche!? I thought we were friends.
SCORCHE: It’s not personal, man. I just don’t like your sister.
FRENZY FOX: That’s no excuse to hurt her, you Maverick.
SCORCHE: I’m not a Maverick..! I just don’t like any of you. I never have. And it’s about time I acted on it.
FRENZY FOX: (livid) …Screw this.
He unleashes his Frenzy Mode, which loads his entire body with a nova aura.
At a sonic speed, he dashes into Scorche and claws him with his burning sharp nails, right at the scar in Scorche’s armor.
SCORCHE: Aghh!!!
His torso separates.
FRENZY FOX: Singe and Scourge were cool. But together, Scorche was an asshole.
Scorche furrows his brow at Frenzy Fox, helpless.
Frenzy Fox strikes Scorche with a final electric flash from his spark whip, which destroys his opponent.
He turns around to see that Blizzard and Blaze have cancelled each other out with their powers, and his sister is in bad shape.
FRENZY FOX: Is this really it??? …What’s become of us…?
He walks over to his sister, who hopelessly reaches out to him, in pain.

CASSANDRA: Psi, no! What are you doing!!??
PSI: Oh, come on, dear sweet Cassandra. You can feel it too, can’t you? That electricity in the air???
She shakes her head with the utmost concern.
CASSANDRA: Something’s come over you, sir. Please, let me look at it.
PSI: (creepy) Mmm, no. I have something else for you to look at. Come here, dear…!

Completely blind-sided, a Lifesaver comes to Cassandra’s aid, punching Psi square in the head.
PSI: (annoyed, irate) Huurhh.. How dare you!!?
He powers up and grabs his cane.
LIFESAVER: I’ll protect you, Cassandra.
She nods, quietly as she attempts to get her bearings.
The Lifesaver covers Cassandra, but Psi is too quick for him in his newly powered state.
Psi bashes the Lifesaver in the neck, which takes him down. Then,he whacks her with his cane three times until she is on the ground again.
PSI: Damn you, Cassie!! I’ve always had feelings for you, and I’ve kept them repressed until now. But now none of that matters, don’t you see!? The World has gone Mad and everything is going to end. So why stop now!?

Signas turns to his command staff with a defeated look on his face.
SIGNAS: Unlock the doors. Send all the survivors, here.
Without a sound, Lucas, David, Hector and Kirk remorsefully comply.
In an instant X, Zero, Frenzy Fox, Freeze Alopex, Rho, Frostbite, Douglas, Alia and the Lifesaver are teleported to the room. They all look at each other with grief-stricken faces. Frenzy holds his sister up who has been badly wounded. Zero appears to have self-repaired as he still favors his arm, folding it tightly behind his good arm.
Their Base Commander lets out a deep sigh and begins to brief them.
SIGNAS: (regretful) I can’t believe what just happened.
RHO: Sir, what’s going on???
He pulls up a map of the World, which shows that the Virus has now scattered to South America and the other continents. Zero, X, Alia and Douglas step forward to view this information at their Commander’s side.
SIGNAS: The situation is far worse than expected. Sigma’s explosion has spread the Virus all over the Earth. It’s affecting both people and Reploids.
Video images are pulled up of the Police Forces amidst Newport, Salem and all of Hexagon.Various Officers are struggling to move and breathe as their armored suits become self-aware and seem to mechanize them in a horrific way.
X: (gasping) This is horrible…
SIGNAS: What’s worse, the Space Colony, Eurasia, is heading straight toward us.
He pulls up a satellite image of Eurasia, which has been mysteriously damaged from the inside. With an explosion at it’s main doors, the colony appears to be off balance, not in it’s usual point of orbit.
SIGNAS: At this rate, it’s going to crash into the Earth… in 16 hours.
The whole group looks shocked and afraid.
SIGNAS: Everything… Including Reploids and the entire human race, will be…… annihilated…
Freeze Alopex passes out in Frenzy Fox’s arms.
LIFESAVER: She’s hurt. I’d better look after her.
FRENZY FOX: Good idea.
They both walk for the door.
Rho and Frostbite look at their cohorts, then back to the awful report.
ALIA: We have no choice… For the sake of the world, we must destroy the Colony!
Rho and Frostbite look at the door again.
RHO: Hey, wait for me!
Rho runs after them and Frostbite quickly follows.
On Signas’ Monitor, an image of a large cannon is pulled up.
ALIA: …But the only weapon we have in the Hunter Base that still works is……the Enigma… And it’s very old.
X: (surprised) You call 3 years, old???
She raises two fingers and turns to him.
ALIA: (snobby, matter-of-fact) It takes 2 years for technology to become obsolete.
X: What do you call me, then?
ALIA: …An ancient anomaly.
ZERO: (bothered) Can we get back to it?
ALIA: Certainly. We also have a Space Shuttle, but it’s been affected by the Virus, and the Auto-Pilot function doesn’t work…
ZERO: Damn it!
ALIA: So we need someone to fly it to the Colony and let it collide… It’s almost certain death, but we have no other choice.
Zero nods with a firm look in his eyes. X is concerned by this.
SIGNAS: How’s the condition of the Enigma?
Douglas uploads his data onto the Halogen Monitor, as this is his department.
DOUGLAS: Far from perfect… In order to use the Enigma, we need to build it up with some devices. The Enigma doesn’t work as is.
SIGNAS: Under the influence of the Sigma Virus, a lot of Maverick Hunters have become Mavericks, and only a few Hunters remain normal. Let’s join forces with the rest of our brothers and complete the Enigma!
He walks around the monitor and puts a comforting hand on Hector’s shoulder.
Hector looks up at his Commander with a brief smile and then focuses back on his monitor as he pulls up information for the team.
SIGNAS: We only have 16 hours left before the collision! We have to upgrade the Enigma before then. There are 4 Reploids that have the devices required to enhance the Enigma. Hector?
Hector nods and pulls up a familiar mugshot of a gruff bear with a scar over his right eye. It is displayed at the top of the Halogen screen for all to see
SIGNAS: Grizzly Slash – a weapons broker. He has a Crystal Ball.
ZERO: Hmph… I remember him.
A mugshot of Tidal Whale from the Repliforce is pulled up.
SIGNAS: Duff McWhalen – he lives in the ocean. We will have access to Hydrogen if we can secure the ocean.
X nods, feeling hopeful for a moment. Then, an image of Volt Kraken is displayed on the screen, which causes him to actually quiver.
SIGNAS: Squid Adler – an Ex-Maverick Hunter. He has an Energy Cart.
Finally, an unfamiliar image of a Firefly with a distinguished moustache is displayed.
SIGNAS: And this is Izzy Glow – a Doctor of Engineering. He has a Laser Device that would benefit the cannon entirely.
SIGNAS: There are 4 other potential Mavericks from our list of Suspicious Reploids, but right now, these 4 are Priority! They are the only ones who have the devices to upgrade the Enigma.
They both nod in understanding.
The other 4 are displayed on the other side of the screen. The only two recognizable suspects are Spiral Pegasus and Burn Dino-Rex of the Repliforce. There is also a Rose-based Reploid and a Humanoid Bat that they have never seen before.
SIGNAS: X, Zero… You are the only Maverick Hunters that can match these Reploids, should they fail to cooperate. Split up so you can gather the devices!
X & ZERO: Yes sir!!
X turns to his partner with a curious look.
X: Where are you gonna go?
ZERO: I think I’ll pay good old Grizzle a visit… We have an old grudge to settle.
X: (smiling) Don’t have too much fun with this.
ZERO: (smiling) Hm.
He lets out a light chuckle as he chooses his mission.
X: Alright. In that case, I’ll visit McWhalen. He’s closest in vicinity and is probably the most willing to cooperate.
SIGNAS: (hopeful, proud) Good luck, men! Remember that you can always check back on the devices you have acquired here on our Main Computer. Douglas is quite the handyman and he might be able to equip power-up parts out of any materials you recover from your missions. Prepare your equipment and fulfill your mission!
ZERO: I don’t need any power ups…
DOUGLAS: You sure about that? Your arm looks pretty banged up.
Zero smirks and walks over to Douglas.
ZERO: Hmph… you think you’d be able to fix my Z-Buster?
He admittedly shows Douglas his defunct buster.
Douglas takes a good look at his arm, and inspects it carefully. The cracks within his buster are corroded and completely rusted out.
DOUGLAS: Hm… Maybe if we build it up with some new parts, but right now, I’m just not sure. Sorry, man.
ZERO: Figures… Thanks anyway.
He turns away and looks at David.
ZERO: Alright, I’m ready. Send me to Grizzly Slash.
David nods and punches in the coordinates. Within seconds, Zero’s body teleports away.

Caption: 2:15 AM – Russian Time
10 hours ahead of Hexagon time, it is well into the dead of night as Zero descends upon the back of an open trailer of a large armored truck. It is hitched to a series of other trailers by an array of light beams, but something isn’t right. This truck seems more weaponized than it should; even for a Weapons Dealer. Zero must shut this operation down before reaching his target.
ZERO: (muttering) Grizzly Slash, what have you been up to…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Destroy the Maverick trucks! Then you'll be able to reach the security warehouse.
ZERO: You mean, his whole truck went Maverick???
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Looks like it!
ZERO: (nodding) Right!
He dashes and jumps to the next trailer, where he climbs over to see a wheel-based rollin’ gear mechaniloid hop around. Zero drops down to impale it with his Z-Saber. Then he moves on to the next trailer with another dash-jump. Once there, two spikys bounce in his path, as a laser is shot at him from the truck itself.
Zero’s eyes widen, as he destroys the spikys and narrowly dodges the laser with a side-dash. Then, he rushes over to destroy the laser gun, only to find that missiles have fired upon him, also from the truck.
ZERO: Jeez! What is with this thing??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Sigma’s virus is awful… I can’t believe what it’s done to everyone and everything on Earth, living and non-living alike.
Zero jumps to the front of the truck as more missiles fire upon him. He quickly dashes to the front of the vehicle, where he can see a giant blue mechanical core, which almost resembles that of an eye.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) The blue core you can see below you is the weak point. If you destroy it, the truck will begin to explode. But you'd better jump to the next truck before this one blows! Then, head to the end of the line.
ZERO: Right!
He carefully drops down to the front of the truck, where he rests his feet on the front bumper and proceeds to slash away at the core. The eye quickly retaliates with a large laser blast of energy.
ZERO: (hurt) Augh!!
He crouches and carefully slashes up at the core until he destroys it. Just as Alia said, the whole truck explodes before Zero. He turns around and jumps on to the next truck along the route, where a Mad Taxi is waiting for him.
ZERO: Hmph…
This mad taxi unleashes missiles upon Zero as well as it’s unrelenting buzz saw arms.
Zero fearlessly runs into the missiles and slashes them, while attempting to dodge the buzz saw arms. He bats them away and slashes the main cab of the tank with a swift three-hit combo.
Upon exploding, Zero can see the cannons of the truck fire lasers and missiles upon him again.
ZERO: Damn, this is gonna be a long night.

INT. PACIFIC OCEAN – Surface Caves – DAY
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: 4:20 PM – Hexagon Time
X teleports down to the surface of the Pacific Ocean near Hexagon Bay with hopes that he can find Duff McWhalen and convince him to allow them to siphon the ocean’s hydrogen into their Enigma Cannon.
He intakes a lot of water as he inhales deeply and exhales slowly, trying to keep his thoughts together. Then, suddenly a giant submarine creeps behind him, which catches X off guard.
X: Huh??
He runs away from the Sub-marine, unsure if it is friend or foe, as Alia com-links in to his ear-piece.
ALIA: Wow! It looks like the giant ship "U-555" is coming right at you! I don't believe it. It belonged to a marine museum. What an incredible influence the Sigma Virus has!
X turns around and notices that the U-555 appears to have developed a mouth with sharp teeth and four scaly cannons from the Sigma virus.
X: ...it's horrible
ALIA: I know, but so be it... To secure the sea, we have no choice but to fight against the U-555. Be careful not to get stuck on the complicated terrain.
X: (sarcastic) Great…
X clenches a fist and calls upon the power of the Force Armor. With a flash of light his white gloves turn blue, and his blue armor transforms into a shiny white armor with blue, red and gold designs amidst his arms, chest, legs and helmet.
X: Okay… Let’s go.
He continues to run away from the machinated Submarine, which proceeds to shoot lasers at X from it’s scales and four dejira mechinolids from it’s mouth.
X: Hmph!
He charges up and destroys the four dejiras with one plasma shot. The residual plasma takes care of the rest, while the U-555 inches closer.
X notices that the plasma residue affects the top and bottom of the U-555 before they dissipate, so he charges up once again.
X: Take this!
He fires a plasma shot at the bottom jaw of the submarine, which overtakes the scaly cannons completely.
X: Alright!!
The top scales fire at X, while the bottom two re-generate, almost holographic.
X: What the-? Oh no!
X proceeds to dash further away, along the winding terrain. He charges up again once he reaches the bottom of a short tunnel. Then he turns around and fires at the bottom lip of the U-555 once again. This time the plasma shot fully corrodes the scales to the point where two holes are blown off the ship completely. Clearly showing signs of damage, the bottom scale cannons will not regenerate again.
X gasps.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Nice shot, X! Keep it up.
X smiles and charges up once again as he dashes away from the U-555 It spits out more dejiras, which chase after X. He blasts them down, then finds himself at a short wall, which he must climb.
Upon climbing the wall, he finds himself at the perfect vantage point to blast away the top scales, which he does so with another Charge Shot.
Affected, but not fully destroyed, the scales regenerate, while X jumps away and moves on to higher terrain. He has to contend with narrow corners, but he gets even higher than before, which is perfect. He charges up once again and turns around. With a confident blast from his X-Buster, he destroys the top of the U-555 at last. Now the scaly cannons are completely destroyed, however the U-555 continues to pursue him.
X: (surprised) Damn, this thing won’t let up.

Zero jumps from an exploding truck and air-dashes onto an extra large trailer from the truck. This one provides rigging, which holds up a ceiling to the construct, which makes Zero suspicious.
ZERO: What the Hell is he doing; transporting a lair??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I don’t know, but you have to stop him soon!
ZERO: Agreed.
He runs and takes a ladder down, inside the trailer. He destroys a rollin’ gear, then kick-jumps up to the next part of the trailer where a hover gunner and mad taxi await him.
ZERO: Hmph. I’ve had just about enough of these guys.
He destroys the mad taxi as the hover gunner fires at him. Zero ignores it and moves on to the next trailer. After climbing a ladder, he notices a rope amidst the rigging above a set of spikes, which forces him to use his wire hook.
ZERO: Damn him.
Zero uses the wirehook and gets shot at from behind from the hover gunner he ignored, as well as a new one ahead of him.
ZERO: Agh. Damn it!!
He swats at both of them with his saber and moves on once they’re destroyed. Making it to the other side of the rope, he is able to dash-jump over to the end of the trailer, which is more ordinary once again. The front-end of the truck still fires lasers and missiles at him, however as a rollin’ gear mechaniloid turns around.
With a persistent glare, Zero dashes over to the rollin’ gear and destroys it with a few slashes. Then, he takes out the laser cannon once again. Missiles rain down upon him, which affect him, but he perseveres to the front of the truck again and destroys the core.

The U-555 fires a long orange blast of power, which threatens to take X out, but he thinks fast and jumps towards a hanging rock from the ceiling. He does his best to kick-jump against the rock and stay afloat until the power beam lets up. Once it does, X drops to the ground and dashes away from it again.
The U-555 blasts X again as he air-dashes over some spiky terrain and again evades the blast by remaining afloat near the ceiling with the aid of his thrusters. Once he finds the clearing, he moves on to the end of the cavern. The U-555 has him cornered now.
X: This is it. There’s only one thing left to do, now.
He opens up his X-Buster and charges up.
The U-555 comes after him with another heavy blast.
X crouches down and fires his Plasma Shot right at the cannon, interrupting the blast.

ZERO: What the-?
He jumps over and lands onto the back of the exploding truck.
ALIA: This truck has already begun to explode! Hurry and move to the next!
Zero does a mad-dash upon the trailer and ignores the mad-taxi ahead of him. With a far jump ahead of him, he barely makes it to the back of the next truck as he kick-jumps up and climbs inside. This truck is exploding as well and hosts a series of drills, which threaten to impale Zero as they expand and retract into their bases at the walls.
ZERO: (gasping) This is wild! This can’t be Slasher’s work. He’s not smart enough for that. It’s gotta be the Sigma Virus doing this.
He quickly dash-jumps and kick-jumps over to each corresponding wall, treading carefully amongst the trailers.
Then, he notices a sub-tank at the front of the truck, so he grabs it.
ZERO: Maybe this was a trap, after all… Not a very good one though!
He jumps over to a new truck, which is not currently in danger of exploding.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hmm, I don’t know…
Zero runs on and takes out two hover gunners with a grin on his face. Then he makes it to the top of the truck.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) ZERO LOOK OUUUT!!!!
Before he knows it, the truck collides into a parked truck, head on.
ZERO: WHOAAAA!!!!!!
He high-jumps as the trucks collide with a massive explosion.

The U-555 explodes as it slowly retreats away from X, moving ahead, mysteriously through the cavern walls.
X: Man… this Sigma Virus is becoming.. strange.
He shakes his head and proceeds to hop down the descending caverns when suddenly, the back-end of the ship seems to mysteriously reappear through the walls and attack him again.
X: What the Hell??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Those are its fins! Be careful. They’re loaded with missiles.
X: (nodding) I will!!
Four orange barrels are strewn about the back fins of the ship. A large thruster is centered between the barrels.

Gamma Sprite [2/6]
The beeping of the onboard tracking sensors go into a frenzy. Heart pumping nearly as fast, Bucky leans over the dash where Tony is punching buttons with a frown.
“Is she here?” Bucky asks, for about the fourth time.
“I don’t know,” Tony says, his voice only slightly exasperated. “But the gamma readings are enormous. They’re interfering with the tracking signal. I’m going to improve the tracking devices when we get back. Jarvis, make a note. And while you’re at it, analyze those gamma rays for me.”
“Yes, sir.”
They are somewhere in Canada, flying high so that only the dark tree tops were visible. Bucky’s fingers are clenched on the headrest of the co-pilot’s seat, where Nat is sprawled as she checks the fastenings on her holsters.
“You seem calm,” Bucky snaps at her. It’s hard to think of politeness at the moment. Or anything except his own fear. For Natasha’s credit, she doesn’t look up at him, but says coolly,
“You’re tense enough for the rest of us, Barnes. I promise I’m just as concerned as you, but freaking myself out isn’t going to improve the outcome.” At this she does glance up, unimpressed. “You know that.”
He only grunts in response.
“Aha,” Tony breaks the silence. “Now this is a unique, and very familiar gamma signature. Jarvis?”
The voice overhead is cool. “Can confirm a match, sir. Scans show an underground bunker.”
“Match for what?” Bucky asks.
“Your girlfriend is underground,” Tony says, pushing his seat away to stand. “And...well - ” He hesitates, meeting Bucky’s forbidding gaze, and says no more. “We’ll drop down.”
The forest is suspended in chilly silence. Bucky’s senses go into overdrive; he hears Nat some distance away, reconning the concrete bunker door which will lead underground, and Tony flying overhead to make sure there were no surprises coming. There were only a few guards above ground; easy to pick off. A few pops of gunfire, and Bucky grits his teeth as he runs to the door, slinging his rifle over his shoulder. The grey mist of the forest has clung to his hair, and he pushes stray, damp strands from his face with one gloved hand.
“Steve will be sad he missed such an easy infiltration,” Nat says breathlessly. She’s torn the keypad from off the concrete wall by the iron door, sticking a flash drive into a port. There are several beeps of red lights, and then the sound of iron bars being disengaged from within. Efficient. Bucky ducks in behind Nat to enter the dimly lit corridor. The door closes with a resonant thud.
“Okay…” Nat says, staring around. There’s nothing but the hallway. “Directions, Tony?”
“Aw, man, did you go in without me?” comes Tony’s voice over the coms.
“Yeah, and we feel really bad about it,” Bucky cuts in. “Tell us where to go.”
“Fine. South in the hall you’re in for about 600 feet, then a left, a right, a right, a - ”
“Tell us when we get there,” Nat says. They break into a jog.
“Stay away from the north wing; there’s about twenty people there. Extraction, not a fight. Remember, Barnes?”
Bucky scowls, even though he knows Tony can’t see it. “I remember.”
“Good. We’ll save it for another time. Promise.”
The bunker is silent. No surprise there - most of the bunkers Bucky has been in were silent. Only the sounds of his and Nat’s footsteps can be heard. If he focused, he could hear the group far away which Tony had warned him about, and ahead - a rumbling, a whirring. Probably a machine. The generator that powers the bunker? Probably.
“The room on the left is the one you want,” Tony says.
Bucky doesn’t question how Tony knows this. He and Nat stop by the door, making brief eye contact. Bucky pulls the rifle back into hands, securing it in his metal shoulder with his jaw set. He gives a nod. Nat lifts the latch on the door, and with a grunt pushes it open. Side by side the enter, scanning the room.
It’s empty.
Arranged around an enormous generator throbbing with yellow light, there are metal desks covered in stuff - computers, lab equipment, notes. Things are fluttering, as if left by someone in great haste. A desk chair squeaks. At the far end of the room, a structured room with glass windows, dark.
“There’s no one here, Tony,” Nat’s voice breaks the silence.
“No…” Tony’s crackling voice says slowly. “I’m pretty sure she’s there. Jarvis says so.”
“The room is empty.”
“No...try about ten yards southwest.”
Bucky strides forward, eyes darting around the room with great mistrust. The hairs on the back of his neck are standing up, and he hears Nat fussing on a computer.
“You’re right there, Barnes,” Tony says into the coms. “Your heat signatures are melding.”
“There’s no one here, Tony,” Bucky snaps, his patience snapping from its taut hold. “No one, it’s completely deserted - ” But as he speaks, he looks around one more time, this time up; he hadn’t regarded the ceiling before, and - he curses under his breath, the knot in his stomach tightening with dread. “Aw, no.”
It’s your wan face that Bucky sees, so high and lonely and small and damned forlorn. The voices have roused you from your stupor, and pulling yourself to your knees you had grasped hold of the bars of your cage, peering out.
“Bucky,” you whisper through your dry lips. Your limbs are shuddering - with lingering fear, with hunger, with cold. You reach out from between the bars as Bucky reaches up towards you, and you place a single hand on the gloved knuckle of his index finger. His eyes are glassy and wide - horrified. You wince. “Bucky, I’m sorry - ”
“Hey, shh.”
You bite your lip, and you feel burning tears fill your eyes. You can see the attempt he’s making to smile, and it looks painful. He lets out a breath, lips twisting into a semblance of a grin.
“You missed your party,” he tells you, clearly attempting to keep his voice light. It hurts.
“I know, I know - I’m sorry - I didn’t know Professor Stern was working with AIM; he caught me completely unawares and I should have drop-kicked his butt in his office but I panicked; I couldn’t even think - ”
“Shh,” Bucky repeats. His brows are creased together now. “Let’s get you down. I’m going to take you home.”
Well, of course he is. You take a steadying breath, and sit back in the center of your cage as Bucky backs up several paces. Nat has wandered over, her expression shielded as she positions herself directly beneath the cage.
“Ready?” Bucky asks. He’s aiming his rifle upwards, squinting.
“Ready,” Nat says.
Silence, and then a cracking gunshot. The cage shudders, and you can’t help gasping as it hurdles down to the ground. Nat catches it with a jostle. Your stomach protests this treatment, and you moan a little.
“Got any wire cutters?” Bucky asks, striding up with his gun slung back on his shoulder.
“No.”
He swears again. But Nat, lifting the cage carefully to her face as you brace yourself, only shakes her head.
“You’re hopeless, Barnes. It’s not even locked.” And with a flick of her fingers, a little windows falls open.
“Well, thanks,” you say shakily, standing and grasping your way to the window. Bucky holds out his hand, and carefully you climb into it. Safe. You let out a breath, and Nat drops the cage onto the floor dismissively.
“Got her. Is the path clear back to the entrance?”
You can’t hear Tony’s reply, not having a com, but Nat’s expression hardens, and you see Bucky’s jaw clench as he lifts you to the pockets of his tactical vest. Must be trouble.
“Wish there was somewhere safer to put you,” he mutters to you as you climb inside the itchy fabric. So thankful to be out of that hard, cold cage, you sigh, rubbing your aching eyes with your hands.
“I need to talk to Tony,” you say as they turn away from the generator to leave the room.
“You will,” Nat assures you. “I’ll go first, Barnes. There are only two coming - I’ll be quiet so we can slip out.”
“Ok,” Bucky replies. His voice is a rumble through his vest. You’d missed him - so much that it hurt - but being back with him surfaces a thousand realities that you do not want to face. You’re small again. And as much as you had tried to spy on Professor Stern when he wasn’t blowing up test subjects, you hadn’t seen the device which had changed your size. If he was smart, he wouldn’t have it in the same room. He was proving clever enough so far.
Nat shoulders through the door first, and there comes a shout from the hallway. It only lasts a split second, and then there’s silence again. Bucky leans his head out, and then sidles on at a brisk pace. You peek out of the vest pocket, eager to see - Natasha is jogging onward, and Bucky passes two bodies wearing guard uniforms. Excellent. You smile grimly.
“Tony’s back on the jet,” Bucky says as he follows Nat through the hallways. “We’ll get out before anyone sees us.”
Or worse, you think to yourself. But you bite your lip. You need to talk to Tony.
The woods have darkened and chilled with the setting of the sun. You shiver in Bucky’s pocket until they reach the Quinjet - Tony is already there, helmet off, and talking to Jarvis.
“Let’s go,” he says, not looking up as the ramp closes behind Nat.
“Tony,” Bucky’s voice is coming through gritted teeth as he strides forward. “We have a problem.”
Still Tony doesn’t take his eyes off of the control panel. “Er - yeah. I know.”
“You knew?”
“Bucky - ” Nat tries to interrupt.
“Yes, I knew,” Tony says. “It’s the gamma signature in her blood when she’s small that Jarvis was able to pick up on. That’s the only reason we were able to find her.”
Bucky’s next words are biting. You wince, hearing the fury in his voice. “Are you serious, Stark? Why didn’t you tell us?”
Tony, relatively cool, tilts his head to scowl at Bucky. “Well - probably because I figured you’d react like this, get a little angry, maybe shoot some people that don’t need shooting up.”
Bucky wrenches the strap of his rifle over his head. “Well, now you’re top on my targets list, so.”
You see Tony roll his eyes, and before things can escalate further you slap the vest above your head to get Bucky’s attention, his frown turns down to you. But the hard light in his eyes softens. “Is there something I can eat?” you ask plaintively. “I’m hungry.”
“Of course, spri - ahh, sweetheart.” His ears turn red as he puts his rifle away in a nearby cabinet.
“Let me sit with Tony for a minute,” you say.
Reluctantly, he lifts you from his pocket and sets you on the control panel. It’s warm - it feels good, and you sigh a little as Bucky saunters away towards the supply drawers. When he’s out of earshot, you turn to Tony and take a deep breath.
“Fill me in,” he says quietly.
“One of my professors from Columbia has been working with AIM. He read my dissertation and must have put two and two together - he figured out who I am, and used a gamma ray gun on me that mimics the effects of the explosion which took Banner and I out in the first place.”
Tony gives a short nod, and you see his thoughts moving quickly behind his shielded expression.
“They’ve been inventing a generator of sorts which is supposed to extend a burst of rays over long distances,” you inform him. “He told me that the effects can be random - but when Hulk blood is included, the effects are more streamlined into...well, he didn’t say exactly. He said there was just...more rage.”
“And this generator works?”
You wince. “He was still working on it. There have been a lot of tests...nothing stable. It’s ugly stuff, Tony.”
“I don’t doubt that.”
“He also mentioned electromagnetism playing a key role in reversing and harnessing the effects of gamma rays,” you continue. “That’s how the effects on me were reversed by that scientist a year ago. The one - ”
“Who should now be in prison…” Tony says slowly. “Jarvis, can you confirm that there have been no breakouts from the interdimensional prison?”
“Yes, sir. Just a moment.”
“So let’s get this clear,” Natasha says, twiddling her thumbs in the co-pilot’s chair. “AIM made a biological weapon out of gamma rays to use on a global scale and turn everyone into Hulks.”
“Basically, yes.”
She exchanges a look with Tony. “This is getting to be kind of a big deal.”
“I know,” Tony says, his lips twisting in thought. “If we had brought more of the team, I’d say we should go back down and take care of it. But I picked up on an alarm just as we were taking off. They know that we were there.”
Jarvis voice pings overhead. “Sir, there have been no breakouts.”
Bucky is now mounting the top deck again, frowning. You smile, reaching out for him and the protein bar he’s carrying, and without a word he picks you up. Curling up onto the warmth of his flesh hand is like riding a bike. It feels familiar, with only a tinge of strangeness. Heartbreaking, but mostly familiar.
“Thanks for the report, sprite,” Tony says absently. “We’ll take care of it.”
The hour-long flight back to the compound is spent with Bucky in the rear of the Quinjet. Growing warm, and your hunger abated, you perch on Bucky’s knee as he listens patiently as you tell again the story of your capture. Stern, the electromagnetic gun, the experiments. He doesn’t interrupt like Tony had, but the expression his face is a thousand times worse: absolutely shattered.
After you finish, it has grown quiet in the jet. You reach out to place a hand on his metal one, which is curled into a fist on his leg. His head is drooping, but at your touch he lifts it and tries to smile.
“Thank you for finding me,” you say simply.
Bucky opens his mouth to speak, but only a choking noise comes out, and he shakes his head.
“I’m sorry,” he says finally, his voice rough. “I should’ve - ”
“No!” With a fierce frown you squeeze his thumb. “Don’t do this, Bucky. It’s not your fault.”
“But - ”
“But nothing,” you cut across, and the look in his eyes softens ever so slightly, though into exasperation. “It’ll be fine, Bucky,” you tell him with a smile. “I know it.”
But you don’t.

Battlefield 3: The brand new King of Console FPS Video games?
While human beings think about First character shooter (FPS) Games, Name of duty is nearly usually the name that is synonymous with FPS gaming. For better or worse, COD has been a juggernaut on the subject of FPS console gaming. But, in February 2011, Dice (EA Digital Illusions Innovative Leisure) discovered they have been working on Battlefield three, and this despatched shockwaves via the gaming community. For the primary because 2005, they have been freeing an immediate sequel to Battlefield 2, one of the best FPS Games of all time. Now not handiest become Battlefield 3 rather hyped, however, it was also coming out per week before Present day War three. It quickly has become a Battlefield.Vs. Call of obligation competition for FPS supremacy. This has become an indirect message to infinity ward that once four years, their reign because the kings of FPS Games was being challenged and in all likelihood coming to an give up. Now after almost a yr of each Video games being launched and all the hype is long past, did Battlefield 3 dethrone Call of obligation as the king of console FPS Games?
Pix, Sound, and Setting:
Battlefield 3 is ready inside the near future. The sport is particularly a multiplayer game, but it does have a single participant campaign mode. inside the unmarried campaign, you are taking manager of numerous army operations including a force recon marine, a Russian spec ops officer, an F-18 fighter pilot, andanM1A2 tank operator. The tale of Battlefield three is especially interesting and attractive. As you development through the story there are many twists and turns. The main issues of the tale are an upcoming struggle in 2014 which spans from Iran to France. Battlefield 3 does an excellent job of mixing the movement and the story together. Normal, Battlefield 3 has a solid unmarried player tale.
While the story is strong, a huge question that many human beings marvel approximately are the Images. When Cube showcased Battlefield three at gaming conventions, the Photos regarded out of the ordinary. The pictures of the tank and the sands of Karkland have been really first rate. The level of detail turned into unseen in another sport before this.
But, all that photos was pre-rendered and anticipated to appearance right. Whilst put into a real-time Placing with lots of converting variables, did BF3 deliver the identical quantity of intensity and rich realism in it’s Photographs? It truely did. Battlefield 3 is virtually placed a beautiful game, Dice put $one hundred million greenbacks into advertising and marketing and it’s apparent they desired to expose off a product they are happy with. Battlefield 3′s Pictures are made on a brand new Frostbite 2 engine and new character animation era referred to as ANT. The frostbite engine permits The game to create monstrous details, dynamic shadows, and smooth textures all at some point of a massive environment At the same time as it is all destructible. The ANT person animation is terrific, each soldier appears distinctly realistic with facial expressions that change While the motion heats up.
The single player campaign in Battlefield 3 spans many locations together with Iran, Big apple, and Paris. Maximum of the areas are city with many homes and Dice did a exquisite activity adding clean element to every place. There are lots of colourful colorations and Battlefield three has brilliant distance terrain.
The Images within the multiplayer maps also are very astonishing. There are nine most important maps, No longer such as the downloadable content material. These maps are Caspian Boarder, Damavand Height, Grand bazaar, Kharg Island, Noshahr Canals, Operation Firestorm, Operation Metro, Seine Crossing, and Tehran Highway. each of these maps has it’s specific elements and style. Dice did a outstanding activity of creating the multiplayer enjoy one-of-a-kind in each map. Caspian Boarder is a forested map, that’s sincerely big. It consists of buildings and forests and is remarkable for sniping and using cars. Damavand Top is set in a dark and rainy marketplace vicinity. Kharg Island is ready in a rocky island and has an ocean surrounding it. Noshahr Canals is about in an business location with diverse canals you do war in.
Seine Crossing is a vibrant coloured map targeted in Paris. Tehran Highway is the last primary map and it’s centered in an urban place in Iran in the course of the night. Common, the Photographs in Battlefield three are excellent, from the single player campaign to the various multiplayer maps, there is lots of variety in every map graphically.
The sound in Battlefield three is some of the quality sound quality I have ever heard of any game. each bullet whizzing with the aid of sounds sharp and realistic and while you get right sufficient you could pinpoint in which it came from. The tanks, jets, and different car sound results are all amazingly realistic. The voice performing is terrific, and it surely looks like your a part of the movement. The sport additionally features a 19 song respectable soundtrack composed by Johan Skugge and Jukka Rintamki. The sound in Battlefield 3 may be very extraordinary. Average, the Graphics in Battlefield three are tremendous, from the unmarried participant marketing campaign to the various multiplayer map, there may be plenty of variety in each map graphically.

Controls and Gameplay:
The controls for Battlefield 3 are your wellknown First person shooter controls. They may be custom designed, however the default Setting is pressing L1 to purpose and R1 to hearth, movements completed by the left analog stick. The proper analog stick allows you to move the digicam around. Conserving down the analog stick allows you to dash. urgent triangle allows you to change weapons, circle is used to have interaction with items inside the environment, rectangular is used for reloading or picking up a weapon, and the X button is used to leap. The proper and left diagonal buttons are used to switch among technologies you’ve got, the up button is used to toggle laser sight, and down is used to toggle between firemodes such as automated and burst fire. The R2 button lets in for a quick knife, While the L2 lets you throw a frag grenade. The controls are easy to research, however tough to grasp. Gaining knowledge of the controls for riding a tank or flying a jet may be perplexing at the beginning, and do have a small Mastering curve. Universal, the controls are extremely good for Battlefield 3.
Even as the Photos, terrific sound nice, and interesting tale all powerful and set the inspiration for a sport. None of this stuff preserve a candle to the Most important part of Games. The gameplay is the coronary heart and soul of Video games. Dice had a bold task Whilst creating gameplay that might be speedy, interesting, and severe sufficient to knock Name of obligation from it is throne as console gaming king. The team at Dice delivered in lots of areas, however additionally fell brief in pretty a few.
Battlefield 3 makes use of the Frostbite 2 engine. This engine permits for absolutely destructible environments, superior physics, and real-time radiosity. All of these things basically imply that the physics and Photographs of Battlefield three are vastly stepped forward for every pretty much every game before it. Bullets are capable of penetrate via walls seamlessly, the the front wall of a building may be blown open from a tank shot, a grenade can ship particles flying anywhere Whilst it explodes. Battlefield three is one of the Maximum practical FPS Video games accessible. Such a lot of things can show up, but the frostbite 2 engine streamlines them and permits The sport to run smoothly by way of rendering textures at a quick fee. This allows the action and exhilaration to occur with none lag. There are 3 modes of gameplay in Battlefield three: the single player campaign, a co-op mode, and multiplayer mode.
The single player marketing campaign appears great and has many distinct places, But it can get a bit repetitive. The fact of the problem is that Battlefield three is commonly a multiplayer sport. The single player marketing campaign is a good manner of Studying the basics before you go online or in co-op, but it offers no actual replayability. It would have also been high-quality to peer the offline map mode from Battlefield 2, wherein you could play with bots. However, Battlefield three does Now not offer this.
The co-op mode permits you to crew up with a participant on line and complete 6 missions. There are an expansion of objectives which you and your companion have to entire in every project. Co-op may be lots of a laugh Whilst your gambling with a friend, But Battlefield three doesn’t offer any break up-screen co-op. This may certainly suck if you have pals over, as theres no way to play collectively except you have 2 Playstation 3s.
The multiplayer mode is The principle appeal of The game. In Battlefield three, there are 6 multiplayer gamemodes: Conquest, Rush, crew Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Conquest Domination, and Squad rush. every gamemode has a one-of-a-kind objective and gambling each one is a exclusive multiplayer enjoy all collectively. A few gamemodes require particular teamwork, Whilst others can be every guy for himself. The Conquest gamemode is the classic Battlefield 3 gamemode, in which groups fight in a large scale map for manage of diverse bases. This gamemode is great appropriate for teamwork and automobile Warfare. In my view, conquest continues to be the great gamemode. it is exciting and you have a selection of ways to gain factors.
In Rush, there are groups. One group tries to attack and damage an M-COM station, Even as the alternative defends it. Squad Rush is largely the same, however in a extra constrained surroundings. team Deathmatch is any other traditional mode in which you’re part of 12 man or woman team vs any other 12 individual crew. The goal is largely to kill as many enemies as you may and attain a certain quantity of kills as a group. This mode does not have any motors and is all approximately just going out with weapons blazing and killing as many humans as viable. Squad Deathmatch is similar to group Deathmatch, but in preference to 2 teams of 12, there are four groups of four humans scuffling with each different to reach a sure quantity of kills. Conquest Domination has two groups of 8 humans fighting in a near quarters vicinity. it’s just like Conquest, essentially the identical, except for it is extra restricted and has extra tactical making plans When attacking a base.
when you pick a gamemode, you’re given four lessons to choose.there is the Attack elegance that are the infantry infantrymen however also the medics. Choosing Assault permits you to rack up kills and additionally revive dead teammates. The Engineer elegance is able to repair automobiles and convey rocket launchers to take out different cars. The Assist class is a category that offers others with ammunition and additionally bring heavy guns which might be capable of kill many enemies. Recon is the remaining and final magnificence, and they’re the snipers in The game. Recon is useful for removing opponents from a distance.
Battlefield three places a huge emphasis on teamwork and squads. each magnificence has predominant strengths and weaknesses, and to be successful and win having the ability to utilize each one is crucial. Upon joining a conquest game or another gamemode you are positioned into a squad. Being able to provide you with processes and choosing the proper instructions for the proper situations is what makes Battlefield three stick out from other First man or woman shooter Games. Battlefield 3 has VOIP Aid which means you can talk on a headset together with your teammates, additionally it is ingame messaging. Battlefield three is a strong recreation in case you play it with none other buddies, but with friends it’s quite genuinely one of the first-class Video games ever made. This game prospers on teamwork.
One of problem of this recreation are the maps. The equal maps that are very specified can turn out to be traumatic, because they are very massive. you can pass mins with none fight, and also health is misplaced very easily. it’s very easy to die in this recreation whilst you first start off. every other predominant problem is all of the downloadable content material. You are No longer obligated to buy DLC, but The game does sense empty while not having all the maps and objects. The DLC can bring the $60 price tag of Battlefield 3 all the manner up to $one hundred twenty five. One huge hassle in BF3 is this game requires you to have a web pass. New Games include an online skip, however used Games don’t. an online skip can most effective be used once, and shopping for a brand new one charges $10. This became carried out to enhance income, however it absolutely does hurt the resale cost of Battlefield 3.
Controls: 9/10
Gameplay: eight/10
Is that this recreation worth buying? final Mind:
Battlefield 3 does loads of things right: the Pictures are outstanding, sound nice is exquisite, and the multiplayer could be very numerous and interesting. However, it also misses in plenty of regions. No cut up screen co-op, no replayability within the unmarried player marketing campaign, no offline maps, luxurious DLC content material, and gameplay that can turn out to be repetitive after some time depart a lot to be desired. Battlefield three is in the end Not the progressive recreation that it changed into hailed to be While the first couple of minutes of footage were found out. On the same time, it’s in no way a awful sport. when you buy Battlefield three, You are getting a solid, finely made First individual shooter. it’s similar to name of duty within the FPS factor, however the squad based totally gadget, cars, and huge maps make it a totally exceptional revel in. I’d notably endorse buying Battlefield three, it is one of those Games that you could locate your self coming lower back to time and again once more. Battlefield three is a solid recreation and a specific buy for Playstation 3 proprietors. I deliver it a 9/10.

"I didn't want to insult you by dropping the formalities too quickly, but if you're fine with it then I suppose I can just call you miss Ensign."
He's smiling though you can only tell via his tone just now.
"Well it looks like the topic has been dropped and the.. uhh.. 'excitement' dissipated. Hopefully you can get a good night's rest and not get bothered further by such things."
dadj:
“That’s very kind of you, but I must insist you just direct them back to me…” he slumps his shoulders… another sigh.
