Sorry you’re still fighting the good fight vis a vis “chat isn’t a pronoun.” I had a mini epiphany to get closer to wrapping my head around it, so I figured I’d share and you can correct me if I’m wrong.

Like. You talk to chat. You talk to your bro. And you’ll say “chat, which of these games should I play?” But if it was a pronoun that would just be…. Really weird? Like if I’m talking to someone I don’t use their pronoun I use their name or something like “bro”.

I know that the same collection of sounds/letters could be two separate types of words (like dust the noun and dust the verb) but I’m assuming that’s not what’s happening here.

Anyway love your blog! I wish it could just be fun linguistics stuff instead of having to constantly fight lies but here we are.

yeah if i had to boil it down VERY simply i guess i could go with:

a pronoun replaces a noun. what noun is "chat" replacing?

(the answer is none, because chat IS the noun.)

hi 🫶🏽 welcome to round 6 of holiday pals, which i didn’t do last year because not as many people are interested but am bringing back because i hate to see this site losing more and more of its social aspect. it isn’t exactly secret santa in that it’s not christmas related even tho it still follows (almost) the same timeline. the idea is to spread some cheer as the year comes to an end and, ideally, make a new friend—or get to know someone better.

OR we’re actually getting divorced Polin at the same time as married Polin?? Because there’s something that some people have noticed and I find it strange. Married Polin on the day of their wedding are not smiling like they usually are when they’re around each other

Like weird right??? So it’s either the shots we got and we have a feeling they’re not in absolute bliss (I won’t say they’re not happy because I’m pretty much convinced they still are) or it’s that there’s just too much going on for them to be completely blissed out.

I know people have said it’s a happy wedding but what if we get a happy exchange of vows and the rest is bittersweet? What if the wedding is the end of ep7 and this scene

Is actually the start of ep8? It would make more sense why they’re sleeping in the same flat. It’d just be that much more angsty, because what do you mean they get married and they’re still not on great terms so they spend their first night as a married couple separated??? He offers her the bed, the bed they’ve already slept in together might I add, and he takes the couch. It would also explain why no one is talking about a wedding night in all the sex scenes we will get

dunno if this counts as an ominous sign but I went up a hill today and there were cows and cows terrify me for…reasons and so when I got back I fell into this apple juice induced fever dream which included the hill at night with a sign in it that was a head of a cow with the words ‘they feed’ under it. I might draw it for you too

Even if you just want to read and admire the jily fics and art, there's a dozen ways to be involved and the whole event is a great way to spread the jily love a little more ;-)

That being said... there's just eleven more days (timezone dependent of course) until November is here and with it a new Jilychallenge to participate in.

Like flared jeans, bangs and rectangular glasses, love to return once in a while, so do our most beloved tropes. So get ready for a month of Jilychallenges themed around the most nostalgic tropes out there (one bed, Friends scared to confess feelings, Order Jily sent on a mission posing as a married couple on honeymoon, Amortentia, dangers in the dungeons, working together on a class assignment, Quidditch accidents and confessions in the hospital wing, lost in the Forbidden Forest, Jily accidentally meeting in the Muggle world (on holiday), Jily getting a cat, etc, etc.)

We would love to hear what tropes in jily stories you loved (guilty pleasures and all, bring it on! Send your faves in the ask box or pm)

Hey artists, sign your art. When I save a picture because it's beautiful and I want to look at it again later, I'd love to remember who drew it. I save things for years. If I see something else amazing by the same artist later, I'll be delighted!
