redid a piece I never finished in 2019, original below the cut

I gave up on the original pretty quickly because I discovered that casein is even more of a nightmare for portraits than gouache. I didn't save the original reference, unfortunately, so I had to cobble together several images of people during twilight to get a grasp of the lighting.

Gave Rebelle a whirl a little while back and this is my first experiment with it.

Since then i've used it in a few other pictures for Conway and i like it, though it feels more limited than photoshop. Which i guess just is every art program ever. Like, it's got stuff that is really cool, the way the brushes interact, how much of it is similar enough to photoshop for me to be pretty comfortable with it right from the getgo and so on (Liquify tool right on the painting? Their Nanopixel stuff is amazing for upscaling. Like, if you want, for whatever reason, you can get this in a 2x36 inches. I have no idea WHY, but you COULD). But i still found that i usually end up hitting a wall with larger paintings where i then have to hop over to photoshop. Soooo yeah, idk, it would be great if i get comfortable enough with it to just take over fully, but we'll see how it goes.

I got Rebelle 7 and wanted to take it for a spin. It's pretty cool. I need to get the hang of the brushes still. Didn't even try most of them. I like how this turned out. Hisuian Typhlosion is such an excellent Pokemon. Beware of future Hisuian Typhlosions on this blog.

decided to try out metallic materials in rebelle so, naturally, i picked miraak''s mask because im in love with him. im very happy with how it came out and i think mimi would be appeased

Trying the melted dry pastel effect again. Just love using Rebelle. I can mix 2 mediums I can't mix. Pastel papers can't always hold water, and it's expensive AF 😵
