They said “no one will ever be able to take away how important Tommy was for Buck.” This statement only enrages me more because it feels like gaslighting.

GASLIGHTING because what they said in interviews didn't match with what they did on screen.

❌️ We didn't see Buck treated Tommy as important.

Buck didn't fight for his relationship, like he had fought for his job after being fired, or like he had fought for a second chance with Tommy after the disastrous first date. Athena once said being Buck meant never give up, but what he did after the break up is pretty much giving up.

❌️ We also didn't see people close to Buck treated Tommy as important.

Bobby said Tommy was good for Buck, Hen asked Tommy about his intention to Buck. But after the break up, none of them talked to Buck or Tommy about it. Hen even assisted Eddie taking Buck's phone away, practically prevented Buck from having a proper discussion with Tommy.

❌️ Buck didn't look like grieving about the break up.

He looked anxious and baked a lot, but that's about it. His demeanor was back to normal whenever Tommy wasn't mentioned, like in emergency scenes or while watching Hotshots with the team. The audience are mourning the relationship more than Buck.

So, Buck and people close to him didn't treat Tommy as important, but they EXPECT US TO BELIEVE that Tommy is important for Buck. Why? Because Tim and Oliver said so in interviews???

not that thrilled about the interviews tone shifting from “Tommy’s gone, good riddance!” to “Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened”.

First of all, i’m capable of processing multiple emotions at once. I can both be happy bucktommy happened and be pissed that it ended and how it ended.

Second of all, you can’t say “no one will ever be able to take away how important Tommy was for Buck” because the show did just that. the show just told everyone explicitly that Tommy was important because he was Buck’s first boyfriend but that was it.

Before that, Tommy was important because he was the first partner to show up for Buck, the first partner to make him feel confident and comfortable in their relationship, the first partner his family already knew and approved of, the first partner who felt like he was Buck’s life partner.

They didn’t write a “good first boyfriend” for Buck. They wrote a “first good partner” for Buck. and then they wrote a breakup that makes sense for a “good first boyfriend” but doesn’t make any sense for a good partner.

so yeah, i’m gonna “smile because it happened” but I’m also gonna be very mad it’s over.

It's also a little bit funny that other people are calling the guy who shot a healthcare CEO with bullets that said "deny defend depose" and was carrying a manifesto about how corporate America is evil a "Nikki Haley Republican" or part of the "center right." I guess based on the fact that he went to an expensive private school was messing around in Hawaii pretending to develop a video game as work until recently? Like. This guy left a goodreads review about how the Unibomber was an "extreme political revolutionary." While also traveling around the world on the money his parents made off of real estate and owning a chain of senior rehabilitation facilities.

I think a lot of you are really uncomfortable with how common champagne socialism is and frankly I think a lot of this is projection. This guy is very obviously someone who considers themselves a leftist revolutionary, and yet everyone is kind of re-framing him as a "Nikki Haley Republican" because they're uncomfortable with acknowledging that far leftists are often very privileged and hypocritical people. I've been talking about this for a long time, but a lot of the left (at least on the internet) is quite in denial about the fact that a lot of their beliefs aren't widely shared by the working class. That often, the loudest voices in the movement are those belonging to the wealthy, who are at the end of the day cosplaying and are more interested in acting out heroic fantasies than improving life for the working class.

"Yeah, no one misses Alfie's dinner." Dick says, with a brilliant smile that Danny can't help but return.

"Precisely! What better time to talk to you all than when you're all actually here!"

"Wait, I thought you came round to work on our English essays?" Tim asks, blinking owlishly.

So I've been rewatching clips from the show lately to refresh my memory while I'm writing my Zuko Alone fanfic. And last night I rewatched the clip where Iroh teaches Zuko how to redirect lightning and I have had thoughts about this scene for years so I might as well finally throw them into the void of tumblr.

So, this scene is insane to me, because at the end of learning how he could-hypothetically- redirect lightning, Zuko looks at Iroh and, completely seriously says "okay I'm ready to try it with the real thing now". Like, Zuko, the boy with a massive scar on his face from where his father burned him just looks at his uncle and says, "shoot me with lightning".

And yes, he's 16 and not thinking but that's part of the point because the amount of blind, complete trust Zuko has in Iroh to look at him and say "shoot lightning at me" after the insane trauma he had at the hands of his own father- that is WILD to me. Zuko literally trusts Iroh so much that he just assumes, without even having to think about it, that no matter how volatile and unpredictable the lightning is, Iroh won't hurt him because Zuko cannot fathom his uncle hurting him.

And of course, Iroh's appalled because Zuko's standing there with a massive scar on his face from when his father misused firebending against him and likewise, Iroh cannot fathom hurting Zuko. And since IROH knows how volatile and unpredictable lightning is and how it could literally kill his son nephew he is absolutely NOT going to use it just to let Zuko practice redirecting lightning, but he's so flabbergasted that Zuko would even ask him that that he just kind of splutters angrily that he will ABSOLUTELY NOT shoot lightning at Zuko. (it's also just another layer of how messed up Ozai is because he shot lightning at Zuko without a second thought later)

But I hope Iroh thought about it later and realized the amount of pure, unthinking trust Zuko has in him because ;-; the child didn't even THINK about it. "Okay uncle shoot lightning at me now. I know I'll be safe because it's you." I love them so much 😭😭

I was watching Kengineer's 3rd solo playthrough episode last night when this quote from the Lotus popped up during the Once Awake quest, and it got me thinking about 1999.

1999 is when the Infestation pretty much shows up for the first time (at least as far as we know), which places the Radiation Wars after 1999 (of course).

...but how long after?

Now idk how old this Lotus quote is and whether it's in the devs' minds at all, but imagine that the Radiation Wars are directly after 1999, sparked by this recent apocolyptic infestation spreading all of a sudden.

Imagine the 1999 quest ends with nuclear armageddon, perhaps even on New Year's. We make that final New Year's kiss (or not), knowing that the people here are doomed to die (though they were probably doomed to die to the helminth strain inside them at some point anyways).

I imagine in this scenario that for the sake of replayable 1999 gameplay (and maybe even the opportunity to change romance routes) that this time fragment of 1999 we find ourselves in repeats indefinitely, always ending in the beginning of the Radiation Wars.

"Tell your baby that I'm your baby" but it's Severus watching as Sirius laughs and jokes with Minerva and Albus and he's calling her "Minnie" and she swats at him with a laugh and says it seems Azkaban didn't kill that cheeky streak of his now did it "ye wee sugar-tongued menace" but when Severus says anything even slightly disrespectful like that she scolds him and tells him to remember who his elders are, and Sirius is there and he's making her laugh, Sirius is there calling her "Aunt Minerva" after that and she's calling him her "lad" but that's what Severus gets to call her, Severus is supposed to be Minerva's "lad", but it only took a few moments for him to have what Severus has taken 13 years to catch even a tiny little piece of, Minerva's taken it away to give to Sirius at once, and there's Albus just smiling and his eyes are twinkling like stars like they've never twinkled at Severus, he can't remember if Albus ever looked at him like that, and it only took a short while for Sirius to once again have the favour, the love, that Severus has spent over a decade trying to earn even a fraction of, he's their golden boy again, he gets to sit with them and laugh with them and call them his mates, he's their boy, even though Severus has done everything he can, yet no, it's Sirius who they love effortless, it's Sirius who didn't need to do a thing to earn it, it's Sirius who has now taken his place, Sirius is their "snarky lad" now, he's come in and taken it all.

And neither of the two seem to care that Severus is the one who's supposed to be theirs.

I was homeschooled so essentially everyone was autistic or learning disabled etc in some way especially the second place I lived because there weren’t many religious homeschoolers there so it really was basically everyone and I will tell you 100% there was a very distinct hierarchy with kids who could fit in better or act in more socially acceptable ways (most of whom could not fit into a non homeschool environment at all) would treat anyone with less hide-able symptoms like absolute shit completely based on the severity of it some of them were actual pariahs just by virtue of being clearly autistic. And you know what I see the exact same thing from “neurodivergent” communities and people seem completely unaware of it but the dominant voice is almost 100% people who mask well and fit into society basically fine besides being perceived as a little weird who will punish anyone the second they say or do something a little offputting or that they don’t like or that doesn’t conform to their idea of what you SHOULD be doing for or as an autistic person. One of my favorite things ever as on display here is the number of times I’ve been called ableist for writing in walls of text without paragraph breaks or lack of punctuation and tone even though it’s like a comically autistic trait and I’ve made it about as palatable as it’ll ever get.
