phoenix & miles defending you in court together
pairing: phoenix wright x gn!reader x miles edgeworth
tags: love triangle, angst with a happy ending, rivalry over reader's affection, phoenix is your lawyer, established romantic feelings
miles was a prosecutor and not a defense attorney, but he was willing to work for the opposing side for once, when you were the one being accused of murder!
or rather, miles was still the prosecutor in your case, but was working together behind the scenes with phoenix, exchanging information!
both of them knew about the other one's crush on you and while they usually would've worked alone, they were willing to go against their usual tactics, if it meant helping you!
as much as they might've want to show off and be the one saving you in the end, that type of behaviour would only make defending you more difficult
just for this one case, phoenix and miles put aside their rivalry, to make sure you'd get out of this, no matter what!
as someone who knows the two of them well, it becomes clear quickly that they are working together, as no updated autopsy reports show up during this trial, nor does miles press phoenix too hard
it almost seems as if phoenix already knows the answer to every question miles asks him, as if they practiced this…
miles doesn't even seem upset when phoenix ends up winning the case! you could swear there's even a small smile on his lips, almost as if he's reliefed…

It was unbelievably loud.
Far too loud.
An earthquake had just started to rung out,
and for the first time ever,
the demon prosecutor,
the one and only,
Miles Edgeworth had ran toward you.
He had most definitely wanted to curl into a ball on the floor, he needed to.
Instead of doing so, he ran to you and hugged you toward his body.
In his PTSD-ridden state, he felt the urge to protect you from his biggest fear.
He treasured you, more than anything. He wouldn't allow you to be hurt like his father was.
Despite his intense quivering, his grip on you was tight, and he didn't plan to let you go until he was sure that you were safe.
border is not mine. and I have no idea where this came from...
it just popped into my head....

can i rq edgeworth who has liiike a huge crush on fem reader :3 but reader is like super oblivious to it and she keeps accidentally doing things to fluster him 😭😭
Hellu anoon! I hope you're doing fine and that you take care of yourself! This is so cute, so I hope I wrote it well enough for you to like it ;v; Have a good day and remember the water! <3 -----------------------------------------
Miles Edgeworth x an oblivious crush:
We all know that Miles becomes emotionally incapacitated when it comes to handling feelings different from discomfort, anger or simply his neutral state of mind;
So you can perfectly imagine how many times he stumbles over his words and blushes per se when he's with her;
To start a conversation he has to think about what to talk about, at least two possibilities of her responses, and how to continue it afterwards;
That's the exact motive why her behavior DOES NOT help him, at all;
He doesn't understand if she does it on purpose or if she's that unaware of his own behavior in her regard;
But, from many points of view, Miles doesn't dislike it completely, since it allows him to be somewhat more free without necessarily embarrassing himself, since she doesn't suspect anything;
He often buys her small gifts or takes her to eat after work, but even if he tries with all his strength (which he never can fully use), she always sees it as a "date" between friends;
She probably starts to doubt after Miles' continuous kind gestures, but it's also the last thing she wants to illude herself of, so that's the main reason why she believes anything Miles does for her is just form a friend to another;
So she just tries to reciprocate his affection;
When she finds some particular tea leaves, he's the first one that comes to her mind, so she buys them for him;
Whenever they're together, she likes to hold onto his arm or when they're in very crowded spaces, she holds his hand nonchalantly and just drags him;
She sends some photos of her days and always makes sure to wish him a good morning and a good night;
When she can, she comes to his office to keep him company if she knows that he has to work for many hours (and sometimes even falls asleep on his sofa);
U s e l e s s to say that Miles is even more confused and flustered with each of her actions;
Mostly when she proposes to help him choose the outfits of the day and, once together, she fixes every inch of his, from the shirt collar, that irregular fold on his jacket and her beloved hair;
Oh dear, she has to only skim his scalp to make his temperature rise suddenly, his hands trembling in his pockets when he feels his locks being gently pulled to be styled;
And, of course, the nonexistent distance between their faces (a thing that Miles tries to ignore by keeping his eyes closed);
And at this point, even a whole poster on which is written "I LOVE YOU" will leave her doubting.
"Miles look!" She tugged his sleeve and dragged him near the lakeside "There are little ducklings" She knelt immediately and tried to have a closer look at them "Maybe we should leave them alone; if the mother's around I don't know how she would take two strangers" He lowered himself and made sure she wouldn't fall into the water "I'm not doing anything, yet" She grinned and looked around to see if there was something to feed them "Don't- They probably aren't even developed yet to digest something that isn't water-like textured" He held her still when she tried to get up to take whatever she saw "But I wanted to hold one" She got up anyway and waved to the babies when they started to go away "We should adopt some ducks" She went behind him and hugged his neck, slightly putting her weight on his back "Some? I think one is more than enough, and I'm sorry to say but you'll be the one to keep it" He tried his total best to control the trembling of his voice and put his hands in the water to stop them too, from trembling and to at least try calming the hot wave that started from his face and went everywhere "But why! They're cute, maybe noisy and not exactly calm in the house, but they are soft" "Dogs are also soft, and are way more manageable than a duck" He stood up, attempting to get her to break away from him, but she remained hugged to his neck, on her toes "Just becaaause, you already had one and blah blah, we'll see who's truly right" She moved her arms from the neck to his chest, squeezing him to bother him and prove her point. The laugh that came from her mouth made Miles melt for a second, breathing to calm himself down and -HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW AND WHY- placing his trembling hands on hers, taking the courage to turn around and seeking to clarify whether something could actually exist, between those two.

Hi!! I saw you were taking request and I’d like to request a Drabble or Imagine with Miles Edgeworth. Miles with an overly physically affectionate s/o and they had a small argument where he calls the reader ‘annoyingly clingy’. The reader gets frustrated and refuses to be affectionate anymore. Miles comes back but doesn’t apologize because he’s too embarrassed too, however he’s affectionate and is asking for some physical affection. Thank you if you write this! Have a lovely evening! <3
❝Hmm, I see..❞
author's note: Anon, this absolutely screams Miles. That man would have so much difficulty apologizing with words. Also, I feel like I definitely scuffed up the last part. To be honest, I was rushing a bit to get this posted so I'm very sorry if this kinda sucks!! I hope you can enjoy it in some form though!
cw + tags: Nothing big, other than an argument. [Established relationship. GN! Reader.]
summary: see request above!
“Hey, did I hurt you?” you ask frustrated, feeling a bit hurt.
“You’ve been all over me recently,” Miles remarked with a sharp inhale, trying to distance himself from his partner. “I know you like being touchy but it’s becoming annoyingly clingy.”
You let out an exasperated sigh. “How am I supposed to know that if you don’t tell me?”
“I have. You don’t listen to me.”
“Literally since when? You never say anything!”
“You know what?” Miles finally snapped loudly, still trying to maintain some semblance of control. “I need space, okay...go.”
You freeze from his tone. He’s never talked to you in this manner. Mile’s can get frustrated, yes, but he has never raised his voice at you. But in a fit of anger and hurt, you hurl back, “Fine! I’ll go, see if I care!”
The door to his private office slams, leaving a frustrated and guilty Miles in his cold office at the Prosecutor’s Office.
…
The air is cool from the AC blasting as Miles comes home to his shared apartment. He almost dreaded coming home, he hated the feeling of guilt he had. But he had to. Somehow, he had to make it up to you.
Unsurprisingly, the living room was quiet. Usually he would find you there when he came back home and would find himself with a wave of kisses. So he checked the only other place he could guess you were in; the bedroom.
Once he was in there he contemplated saying hi. Maybe an apology. Definitely that. But instead, he found himself sliding into bed with you after taking off his work clothes.
Miles expected you would yell at him. Kick him out and make him sleep on the couch tonight. He wouldn’t mind, he deserved it for being an asshole. But much to his surprise, you didn’t. Because he felt the soft contact of your hand hold his. No words were spoken between you two. Eventually as the night grew colder, Miles slowly scooted closer. And so did you.
..Perhaps this was an apology, and you accepted it. Regardless, he would enjoy this moment until the crack of dawn.
And will definitely have a proper chat with you in the morning.

Show 'Em How (Phoenix Wright x Reader x Miles Edgeworth)
𝗔/𝗡: 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗛

𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚? ⇒ 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩
𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙧?
𝙗𝙪𝙮 𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚?
When you were younger, you had a crush on two boys.
The type of crush that left people with heat stuck in their cheeks and eyes casted down at the ground. The type of crush that left people like you stammering and stuttering and trying too awfully hard to look cool yet cute in every moment they’re in view. But they grew up. So did you. Though those feelings you had for the now-grown men didn’t completely disappear. You’re not even sure if they lessened enough for you to no longer feel embarrassed about it all.
But for the longest time, you just didn’t get what you saw in both of them. After all, you thought that they couldn’t be any more different from each other aside from their shared strong will. So what made you like them still after all these years? What made you linger around like a ghost- hoping and hoping for the one who sees you. Despite knowing they would never see you as you’ve always seen them. Someone to love. Someone to adore. Someone to hold tight and want to protect for as long as they live. But that’s the thing.
“You’re getting so good at this, aren’t you sweetheart?”
You only thought you knew that.
“Mmm,” You make a quiet hum with the back of your throat as you look up at one of the men before you. “Mmm…”
You always thought of Miles Edgeworth as a gentleman- even when you both just attending grade school. You thought of him as refined and forever poised- even in the trickiest of situations. And now, you’d admit that some of that holds true. He’s still oh-so gentle as he cards his fingers through your hair and keeps the loose strands out of the way. He’s still oh-so kind as he looks at you with eyes that hold emotions so far away from disgust and malice that you could easily forget if you wanted to. If you tried. But most of all? He’s still oh-so-sweet in the way he calls on you- insisting on sweetheart even as you wrap your lips around his dick and suck him off while free hand focuses on his rival.
“I could have told you that,” A voice from your side grumbles. Some that have your heart thumping out of your chest and shivers running down your spine at the exact same time. It’s the same Phoenix Wright that you’ve always been smitten with. Though it’s admittedly more charming now that you’re able to hear him talking so casually. Without stress about investigations. Without drama from court cases. None of that stuff. Although… “And quit hogging! It was my turn to get sucked off ages ago!”
You suppose nothing can be quite drama-free with those two. But you suppose it’s your fault, isn’t it? It started with you getting a little bold one night. A little brave. Then suddenly, you’re writing love letters. Love confession with the hearts and the secrets and the obvious embarrassment dripping from every single word. But this running off of a courageous high (or rather, a steep amount of liquid courage), and suddenly yourself with new emails in your outgoing mail folder. And two emails in your ingoing mail folder- each agreeing to the time and the place that drunken you had asked to meet.
Truthfully, you don’t remember how exactly your confession went. Maybe you blocked it all from memory. Maybe you didn’t. But whatever happened must have been a good thing between all three of you.
Because why else would Phoenix be wrapping his hand around your neck and pulling you off of his rival’s cock all so he could lead you and your puckered lips toward his?
“Pay attention to me too, okay?” He reminds you gently as he gives you a big smile. Instantly, you’re enamored again now that he’s the boy with your most direct attention (even though Miles’ huff is very clearly an attempt to get your eyes back off him). But Phoenix doesn’t pay him any mind- instead, he’s too busy pushing your head closer and closer to him as his free hand holds his fully erect cock out for your to slide into your throat. “I’m willing to share but you can’t forget about me, alright?”
You’re barely registering his words. Just giving him a simple nod before your back up and sitting on your knees and wrapping your lips around the pretty dick in front of you. It stands tall and proud in front of you with quite a few noticeable veins decorating it in its entirety. A small bead of precum has been spilling from the top. But you don’t waste another second on dumb thoughts and inaction. Instead, you’re flattening your tongue and taking the thing into your mouth easily. Completely. Happily.
The salty taste hits your goosebumps a second later, but Phoenix is quick to ease you into taking his entire length all at once. He coaches you into breathing the way he knows you should, and you focus on relaxing your mouth the same way you did for Miles so he slides right in with little resistance. But Phoenix is thicker than Miles. Not as long, but much much thicker. And so the instant you feel him start to fill up your mouth in a way that feels like too much at once, you cough. Just a little.
Even so, it’s still enough to get Miles to hurry out a call of “Be careful” to the other man, much to his displeasure. But it’s not your first. It’s far from it and everyone in the room knows that by now. So you’re quick to right things yourself. To adjust so that you mouth things about fitting Phoenix inside rather than Miles. And all too soon, you’re bobbing your head up and down and up and down and up and down. Letting it glide through your warm, wet throat as the man you’re sucking off balls his hands into tight fists and leans back into his chair.
“Fuck, that’s good,” Phoenix all but groans as he closes his eyes and tosses his head back. His voice is much lower than what you’re used to. Softer. Quieted. More controlled even. Not that you really mind it though. As much as you love your Phoenix- the one who’s bright and loud and only just a little dumb at times- you like the way you’re making him come undone like this. Making him count his every breath. Making him rise out of his chair and curse under his breath. Making him feel good. All because of you. All because of you. “Keep going- keep sucking like that. And- and do that thing with your tongue again. Okay, baby?”
Your heart melts at the nickname. Baby. You’re so soft for these two it’s ridiculous. But perhaps it’s more ridiculous how soft they are for you. How willing they are for you. Most men would hate sharing a lover. And yet, here comes Miles- reaching over and pulling back your hair again so you can continue focusing on running your tongue against every vein on Phoenix’s dick again and again and again.
And sometime later, you’ll start stroking Miles’ cock again, not wanting him to lose the pretty hard-on he brought out just for you. Pumping your fist up and down and up and down- in time with the way you bod your head on the other man’s cock. But pretty soon all of Miles’ sweet little compliments will draw your attention away. Pretty soon, you’re pulling your mouth off of Phoenix’s dick and wrapping your lips around Miles’ once more- pulling out all the moves you know he likes. Playing a little with his balls. Sucking a little extra hard on the head. And looking up at him through your eyelashes all pretty like when he started mumbling all kinds of selfish yet adoring words towards you.
And at some point, the other man in the room is going to feel content will sitting and watching anymore. At some point, he’s gonna want a hand or a mouth or that pretty little hole that’s been hiding between your legs all this time. At some point, he’s gonna want to make you do the squirming. Just like your other lover is gonna want to make you squeal and feel good. Feel oh-so ridiculously good. But he can wait. They both know how to wait at this point. And frankly, you do too.
Because you waited so many years to confess. You waited so many years to know if they liked you back. And you waited so many years before realizing that the answer had to be both or absolutely nothing at all. But they’ve made their decision. And you’ve made yours.
You know they know how to wait their turn. You know they know how to play nice. How to share. And you know they know how to do that with each other. Because you were there when they learned those things. And if they refuse to do it now?
Well, you’ll just have to show them how it’s done.

pairing: Miles Edgeworth/Reader (can be platonic or romantic)
*reader is racially ambiguous, pronouns are unspecified, and physical descriptors aren't used*
summary:
Miles Edgeworth always has the most recent evidence and an updated autopsy report when he prosecutes a case. His secret? You: a talented LAPD detective with no honest concept of “time off work.”
word count: 3.5k | ao3 version
warnings: mentions of sleep deprivation, fatigue
This snippet is focused on Miles Edgeworth/Reader and the dynamic can be perceived as romantic or platonic. The reader is a detective employed at the LAPD. The reader is also racially ambiguous and gender is unspecified.
Since this fic is, well, fiction, some parts may be unrealistic. Keep that in mind before you read. (For example, this takes place in a rather unrealistic universe in which Miles Edgeworth isn’t in love with Phoenix Wright. lol.)
You’ve been working in the Criminal Affairs Department at the Los Angeles Police Department for a few years now. You started out as a wide-eyed rookie, but within a few weeks, you quickly learned that detective work isn’t the perfect, harmless job you thought it was. You still love your position, of course, but you’ve investigated rather gruesome cases in your time at the LAPD. Now, you find yourself accustomed to the scent of formaldehyde and the sight of blood splattered across skin.
Through your position at the LAPD as an investigator, you’ve met your fair share of interesting characters—namely, defense attorneys and prosecutors. Unfortunately, interaction with legal professionals comes hand-in-hand with your investigations. You can’t remember the last time you had the pleasure of performing an independent investigation. You’re almost always hindered by a prosecutor breathing down your neck or a defense attorney frantically pressing you for evidence you don’t have. The constant presence of overbearing lawyers is just something you’ve grown used to.
They aren’t all so bad, you think to yourself. Miles Edgeworth, Klavier Gavin, Simon Blackquill, and Nahyuta Sadmadhi are all rather unique individuals, but they care about justice and aren’t falling prey to the dark age of the law. You enjoy working with all of them, even when Klavier can’t shut up about his latest concert or Simon’s hawk constantly uses your head as a perch. Truthfully, Miles Edgeworth is the most tolerable of the group—but you’d never admit that aloud.
You’re in your office one night, reviewing some paperwork and thinking about the recent case you were assigned, when you hear a knock on the door. You give the person permission to enter and the door falls open, revealing Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth himself. He’s wearing his typical prosecutor garb—his burgundy-maroon suit and cravat. Glasses are perched on his nose and he pushes them up a little. “Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth,” you remark, blinking at him. “Good to see you.”
“And you.” The prosecutor responds, his arms crossed over his chest as his gaze flits about your office. You suddenly feel strangely self-conscious, despite the knowledge that your office is very sparsely decorated. There’s an award mounted on the wall from last year and a small photo of you and your friends on your desk, but that’s about the extent of your decorations.
“Are you here for the updated autopsy report?” You ask, deciding to cut to the chase. From what you know of the prosecutor, he doesn’t quite enjoy small talk. Indeed, Edgeworth looks relieved at the thought of being spared from casual conversation; he then nods at your question. You sigh and open your desk drawer, procuring the newest autopsy report. You hold it out to him and he takes it with a murmured thanks. The prosecutor’s eyes are locked on the paper as he takes in the new information. You watch him for a few seconds, before taking the opportunity to rub your eyes roughly. You’re rather tired, you have to admit. You should’ve gone home hours ago.
“Detective.” You flinch, opening your eyes to find Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth staring at you with a blank expression. You’re briefly hit with an intense wave of embarrassment at the thought of zoning out in front of the Chief Prosecutor himself. “The commissioner didn’t send you home,” the prosecutor remarks. You think his statement is meant to be a question, despite the fact that his tone doesn’t fluctuate from his typical flat affect.
“Well, he did,” you grimace, remembering his demands for you to return home immediately. He’d be furious with you right now. In fact, the commissioner pulled you aside a few weeks ago to inquire about your “workaholic tendencies.” You meant to take him seriously and even assured him that you’d start to leave work on time instead of staying late. But here you are—sitting in your office late at night with your findings from your after-hours investigation.
“Yet, you’re still here.” Edgeworth remarks with an intent gaze. Somehow, his frown only seems to deepen.
“Yes, well, I… felt like something was missing,” you decide to admit. The prosecutor is trustworthy. Besides, you’re sure he has much better things to do than report you to the commissioner. The notion then reminds you of Dick Gumshoe—particularly, a conversation you had with him the other day about his much-to-be-desired diet of instant noodles. You shake your head in a half-hearted attempt to clear your thoughts. “Here, look at these.” You pull papers from the file on your desk and extend them to him. Edgeworth’s gaze follows your gesture and his eyebrows furrow.
“The suspect’s fingerprints on the corpse,” Edgeworth remarks blankly. “Yes.” His eyebrows furrow. The prosecutor is evidently wondering why you’re pointing that out, considering the evidence is extremely self-explanatory. You take a deep breath.
“Look at the edge here,” you suggest, pointing to the very edge of the photo in question. It’s just barely visible and you watch as Edgeworth squints at the photograph for a long moment. For a second, it looks as if he’s not seeing it. You’re close to pointing the area out again when his eyes widen in realization.
“Powder,” Edgeworth realizes aloud. He crosses his arms over his chest and falls back into his unusually straight posture. His fingers tap against the crook of his arm rhythmically, in what you guess to be a restless gesture. “The prints were transplanted.”
“I believe so.” You nod.
The prosecutor frowns and looks askance. He seems to deliberate for a moment before turning his attention back to you. “Can you do something for me?”
“Sure…?” You respond, thrown off by the ambiguity of the statement. The prosecutor explains the task he’d like you to perform and you begin to understand. Acting on his orders shouldn’t take too long, hopefully. However, you are in a time crunch—what with the trial being scheduled for tomorrow morning. Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth leaves you with a murmured word of gratitude and a quick farewell. You stare at your closed office door for a moment, wondering if you dreamt up that interaction. The handwritten note sitting on your desk—created mere moments ago by Edgeworth—is proof that the prosecutor’s request was all too real. You don’t waste any time after that, immediately walking out of the police department and getting into your car. The Chief Prosecutor’s request isn’t too difficult—you simply need to revisit the crime scene and make sure everything is in order. Then you’ll return home, eat something, take a quick shower, and go to sleep. Everything will be fine. You won’t overwork yourself. You certainly won’t stay at the crime scene late into the night, until the point when you bear witness to the sun rising in the morning sky.
These promises fade into obscurity the moment you reach the crime scene. Your investigative mind turns on and all you can think about are fingerprints, footprints, and murder weapons. You meticulously review each piece of evidence for forensic data, in addition to reviewing the entire scene in your head several times. Your efforts are far from a waste of time, as you manage to tie up some loose ends and even determine that the murder weapon carries multiple sets of prints. Your knees are aching as you bend down towards the ground and survey anything of consequence. Time is entirely inconsequential. All you know is that the flashlight you had needed when you arrived is no longer useful, as hints of the sunrise begin to illuminate the area in a hazy dawn glow.
When your morning alarm goes off as you’re standing at the edge of the crime scene, you’re able to recognize that you may have gotten carried away. Just maybe. You sigh and trudge back to the car, before driving to the courthouse. When you arrive, you’re able to take a quick nap in the car and eat a protein bar you find in the console. Unfortunately, your nap is more than quick—it doesn’t last more than three minutes before you hear a knock on your window. It’s your least favorite defense attorney, Duff Endyu.
“Well, hello, Detective!” Duff remarks as you roll down your window, his cheery smile immediately ruining any of the rest you acquired from your brief rest. “Catching up on some Z’s, are we?” His grin seems to have a mocking edge.
“Yes,” you sigh, unwilling to entertain his attempts at provocation. “Are the doors open?” You look over to the courthouse entrance.
“I believe they are, sport,” he responds, patting a hand on the area where the unopened window rests and pacing towards the building. You take a deep breath and pinch the bride of your nose. It takes you a few moments to cross the parking lot and make it to the doors. Once you do, you find that the waiting room is blissfully empty. You sigh in relief and take a seat on the armchair, crossing a leg at the knee and pinching the bridge of your nose. You want nothing more than to fall asleep, but you know that would be rather unprofessional. Besides, you have a job to do.
You spend your time reviewing the information you gathered throughout your investigation, before preparing your statements and testimony as the detective on the case. You’re typically the first person called to the stand, so that you can explain the case to the judge and shed light on the evidence.
“Detective.” You flinch and look up, only to find Miles Edgeworth staring down at you. You resist the strange urge to get up from your seat and instead greet him. “Good morning.”
“Good morning,” you respond, pretending that you don’t need to blink the traces of exhaustion from your eyes.
“Did you have a chance to do what I asked?”
“Yes, I did,” You’re about to explain when the bailiff interrupts and asks you to go into the courtroom. You send an apologetic smile to the prosecutor, before slipping into the empty courtroom. The judge is the only person in the room, and he seems to be frowning at something on the surface of his bench. When he notices your entrance, he motions for you to come closer.
You’re familiar with this judge and have worked with him several times before. The thought reassures you, as you know you won’t have to sugarcoat your words or pretend to be someone you’re not on the stand. The two of you have formed a surface-level understanding of one another, which makes your job that much easier.
The judge asks you a few questions about your investigation and you answer them to the best of your ability. Eventually, he seems satisfied, because he nods and dismisses you. You never get the chance to speak with Edgeworth and brief him on your findings before the trial, but you know he’ll learn more once you take the stand.
The judge begins the trial with the standard procedure, questioning both the defense and the prosecution before Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth makes his case for the conviction of the defendant. Not for the first time, you find yourself impressed by how succinct and persuasive the man’s argument is. Endme, the attorney for the defendant, seems a bit intimidated. You think you would be too, if you were going up against the chief prosecutor himself.
The judge then calls you to the stand. You explain the crime and describe the crime scene in detail, before Endme, the defense attorney, cross examines you. His cross-examination isn’t super thorough, and you suspect it’s because your claims are all backed up with at least one piece—if not multiple pieces—of evidence. Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth seems to have quite the easy time with dismantling the defense’s argument. However, since you never got the chance to brief him before the trial, you’re forced to step in and correct an assumption when you hear it.
“Actually,” you break in, wincing at how everyone’s gazes lock onto you. You take a deep breath. You can do this. “Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth is right, but… an investigation earlier today revealed that the murder weapon actually contained the prints of the witness, in addition to the defendant.”
Edgeworth’s eyebrows steadily climb up his forehead. You want to feel guilty, but you know you didn’t leave him out of the loop on purpose. In fact, you were about to relay your findings to him when you were swiftly interrupted. Instead, you allow yourself a brief moment of pride. You caused that disbelieving expression on the chief prosecutor’s face. You found that evidence…!
The trial, understandably, is suitably affected by that revelation. You’re soon dismissed from the stand, as Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth calls the witness to the stand. You get the feeling he’s going to absolutely grill them—to see if they play a more active role in this case.
Truthfully, you want to leave the courthouse and go to sleep, but you know you should stay to see how the trial plays out. Thankfully, Edgeworth uses the forensic evidence you found to bolster his argument and, after only about an hour, the courtroom doors swing open and the chief prosecutor appears. His eyes narrow in on you immediately and there’s a frown on his face. You feel any good karma you may have accrued earlier completely dissipate.
“Detective,” Edgeworth says with a sigh. This can’t be good, you think to yourself. “I appreciate your efforts, and the fact that you did what I asked you to do.” He pauses. But…? “However, I do not recall telling you to avoid sleep entirely.” His eyes meet yours and you realize he must’ve noticed your fatigue earlier or the dark circles that currently reside under your own eyes.
“I know,” you acquiesce. The prosecutor nods knowingly, and you suddenly feel the need to defend yourself. “Still. I had a gut feeling there was something missing—and I was right.” Edgeworth sighs loudly. You raise your eyebrows at him knowingly, inviting him to argue with you. Fortunately for you, there’s not much of an outlet for him to argue—since your choice to continue investigating procured decisive evidence for the trial. The prosecutor evidently comes to that realization, because he crosses his arms over his chest and levels you with a furious gaze that spells you silent.
“Come on, Detective,” he remarks. “Unless you’d like the budget cut that Detective Gumshoe is so fond of.” You sigh deeply and follow after the prosecutor. This is the first time he’s threatened to reduce your salary. You certainly hope it will be the last—you’d rather not rewrite your budget for the coming month.
You follow after Edgeworth, who has yet to offer an explanation for why you’re supposed to follow him. The prosecutor paces out of the courtroom and walks through the lines of cars in the parking lot until he reaches a red sports car. Your eyebrows climb up your forehead as you see him unlock it.
“This is your car?” You hear yourself ask.
“You seem surprised,” Edgeworth notes with a tinge of amusement. He opens the door for you, allowing you to enter, before closing it behind you. The prosecutor then walks around the car and gets into the driver’s seat. Edgeworth looks at you expectantly, evidently waiting for elaboration.
“Sorry, you just didn’t seem the type,” you say. You quickly regret uttering the statement aloud after seeing the prosecutor raise an eyebrow; thankfully, he lets the comment slide. Instead, you get into the car and awkwardly stare down at your hands. You feel intensely out of place in this car, sitting next to the Chief Prosecutor himself. Edgeworth doesn’t seem to notice your internal panic, instead beginning to pull out of the courthouse parking lot and drive down the street. “Where are we going?” You eventually find the courage to ask.
“My office,” Edgeworth responds. You feel your heart stall in your chest. He isn’t going to fire you, is he? You’re not sure if he has that power… but you wouldn’t be surprised if he did possess that kind of administrative authority. Your fear must show on your face, because the prosecutor huffs in amusement before turning to look at you for a brief moment. “Lighten up, Detective.” Contrary to your expectations, you aren’t given any more explanation than that. Instead, you’re left to sit silently as Edgeworth
He’s taking you to his office. Oh no. You’re really going to get fired, aren’t you? Your heart races in your chest and you feel your hands twitching at your sides. Edgeworth leads the way to the Prosecutor’s Building, walking through the underground garage before reaching the door and opening it for you. You’ve been to the building before, but you’ve never been to the underground garage—which leaves you feeling a little turned around. You suspect there’s an elevator that will lead to Edgeworth’s office. However, the chief prosecutor walks past it and instead ascends the staircase next to it. You shrug and follow after him. One flight of stairs won’t be too bad.
One flight of stairs passes in the blink of an eye. However, Edgeworth doesn’t exit as you expect—instead he continues climbing up the stairs. Are you going to be taking the stairs all the way up to his office? From what you remember, quite a few of the offices are on the higher floors. You decide to keep quiet and follow his lead.
If only you had known that Edgeworth’s office number was on the twelfth floor . By the time you climb up the last set of stairs and reach the twelfth floor, you want to collapse on the ground and never get up. Edgeworth, on the other hand, isn’t even winded. You manage to catch your breath on the short walk from the staircase to his office, but you know your legs will be sore tomorrow.
You’ve never been in the Chief Prosecutor’s office before. It has more life than you thought it might, with a burgundy couch off to the left side, an ornate wooden desk in the center of the room, and rows of files lining the walls on the right. There’s a small figurine of the Steel Samurai and an award that you recognize to be the Prosecutor Trophy. The space looks like a good mix of professionalism and nonchalance that you think you’d like to emulate in your own office.
Despite your expectations, Edgeworth still doesn't give you an explanation for why you’re here. Instead, he settles into the chair at his desk and opens his computer. He’s quiet as he types on his computer. After a few moments of standing awkwardly, you decide to move and sit on the couch.
You don’t know how long you wait there, anticipating a remark from the chief prosecutor. Unfortunately, now that you’re left here with nothing to do, you feel your energy slipping away. Your exhaustion is beginning to catch up to you. You didn’t get much sleep ( read: any sleep) last night, thanks to your impromptu investigation. Despite your fatigue threatening to knock you out, you know can’t fall asleep in front of the Chief Prosecutor. You have to stay awake.
Surely, there’s something you could be doing right now. Your eyes are stinging from exhaustion and your blinks feel twice as long as normal. You rub your eyes roughly and pay a glance at Edgeworth, who is scrawling something down on a piece of paper.. Just what are you supposed to be doing here? The prosecutor hasn’t spoken since you left the car. Edgeworth isn’t shy about assigning you work to do, so why is he suddenly so silent?
Despite all these recognitions, and the intimate knowledge that it will not look good if you fall asleep, your exhaustion wins out. One moment, you’re staring blankly ahead at the wall of files; the next, your eyes are slipping shut and you’re falling asleep.
Your sleep is remarkably undisturbed, despite being in the company of another person. You occasionally hear the scrawling sound of writing or the pattering sounds of typing, but otherwise, the office is blissfully silent. Your head rests on your hand and you exhale slowly, feeling the day’s stressors slowly slip away.
You don’t intend to sleep for long. But, when you wake up, you find that it’s dark outside. There’s an added warmth that you didn’t have before. Upon further investigation, you find that there’s a familiar burgundy jacket draped over you. Is this… Edgeworth’s jacket? Your eyes widen as the characteristic burgundy color.
Your phone pings, drawing you out of your thoughts. You reach towards it and power it on, only to find that it’s nearly 6 p.m. The trial ended hours ago! You look around for Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth, but he’s nowhere in sight. All you see is the familiar wall of files, the chessboard in the corner of the room, and a mug of tea with a note next to it.
Wait. A mug of tea with a note? You frown and look down at the coffee table, finding a mug of warm tea with steam rising out of it and a handwritten note. The note reads:
Visiting the department. Expect a more strictly enforced schedule in the future. -M. PS: Stay as long as you need.
You smile to yourself.
“Duff Endyu” → “defend you.” lol.
hehehehehehheeeee… I just want to fall asleep in Edgeworth's office and for Edgeworth to look down at me and be filled with an inexplicable burst of fondness. is that really too much to ask?>??
Did “a more strictly enforced schedule” make sense? I was trying to find a characteristic way for Miles to say that your overtime would be prevented (aka that you’ll have to “clock out” and actually leave, instead of staying for hours after).
I just realized Miles’s initials are M.E.. Lollll.
anyway, thanks for reading! <333

hi!! I saw you were into the ace attorney games again, and I'd like to request... Edgeworth and Phoenix (separate) with an absolute baker of an s/o.. I'm talking constantly makes them things. coffeecakes, teacakes, even drinks at certain points; and it gets to the point where their offices are just littered with sweets EVERYWHERE (bonus if gumshoe absolutely sneaks some away from their offices hehe) thank you if you write this! have a lovely evening! mwah mwah <3
With an S/O That Won't Stop Baking
Fandom: Ace Attorney
Character(s): Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix Wright
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): Gumshoe absolutely sneaks baked goods out. If he can save money by stealing food from his boss then he will.
Edgeworth
At first, he found all the baked goods ridiculous. He's appreciative, but it's just so much and the last thing he needs is crumbs to get everywhere and mice to move in. Eventually he just gets used to it.
Honestly, he doesn't mind Gumshoe or even Phoenix showing up just to steal a cupcake or something. You make enough to feed a large family (which he hopes to have someday) so they can grab a donut or something. Might start making a small section of the office with baked goods for them to take.
If you ever made him a very fancy cake of foundant and other wild stuff that resembles the courtroom or a Steel Samurai scene then he'll be so hesitant to even touch it because it looks so good. (can you imagine making him a chess piece out of cake and he just doesn't realize until he touches the piece and gets icing all over his hand)
Edgeworth tries to watch his weight so he can stay active and do better with investigations. Your baked goods are causing him to put on a few pounds and develop some pudge. It makes him look softer and he absolutely gives you a stink eye if you mention it.
Phoenix
He thinks it's pretty funny how when his office isn't covered with Trucy's magic stuff and case files that there's baked goods covering the place instead.
Phoenix loves the muffins and pies and such you make him, but sometimes he hardly gets to eat it because his "kids" keep showing up and chowing down before asking him. I mean, between Athena and Maya, you might have to work double time for him to even get a taste of a bear claw.
It would be so cute if you made him little magatama-shaped cookies or cookies shaped like his attorney's badge when he gets his job back. Phoenix makes sure to feed you one because you baked them so you deserve to taste your amazing breakfast/desserts too.
Phoenix doesn't mind if he puts on a few pounds. He gets teased about getting a dad bod by Maya or Trucy, but he doesn't care. As long as he gets to eat your baking then he's happy.

miles edgeworth crushing on manfred von karma's assistant
pairing: miles edgeworth x gn!reader
tags: wholesome fluff, pre turnabout goodbye, nervous & flustered!miles, mention of manfred & franziska, crushes
as von karma's assistant, you were close to miles, but not as close as he'd like to be with you
you got to see each other a lot, but it was always just small talk and short glances between the two of you, barely a chance for anything more, as you had to return to work soon after
as much as miles would want to, he can't get himself to ask you out on a date. not even one disguised as a business meeting
but occasionally he suggests that the von karma's go eat dinner together after a successful case – and of course you're invited too!
manfred isn't aware of the feelings lingering between the two of you, as he frankly doesn't pay enough attention to it. he's too busy drowning you in work to consider your feelings
however, franziska eventually picks up on miles’ crush on you. though more than some teasing comments about what a coward he is for not asking you out, she doesn't do a lot more
while miles can't get himself to ask you out, there is something else he does. something that perhaps is even bolder than asking you out on a simple date…
he propose that you work for him, instead of manfred! of course, he'd double your salary and treat you well!
and if you were to agree and work with him, he might have some more excuses to ask you out to dinner. this time, it could just be the two of you…

Headcanons of how would (Ace Attorney) Miles Edgeworth, Godot, Simon Blackquill, Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, and Phoenix Wright react if their shy crush is shocked that they also wanted to confess their feelings?
Headcanons Simultaneous confessed feelings
⚖️ Phoenix Wright x Reader 🚲
Phoenix managed to get burned in love affairs, so he tried to approach this issue as seriously as possible. When you came into his life, he didn't know what to do. You were so sweet, sincere and shy. He just couldn't even think that it was a deception and fell in love with you, blushing often next to you
Maya saw perfectly well how her friend treats you and did not give him peace of mind. She tried to convince him to confess his feelings to you, but Phoenix refused, claiming that you hardly felt the same way about him. Every time he said that, Maya rolled her eyes. She saw perfectly well that his feelings were mutual, but she didn't want to put you in an awkward position, so she kept quiet, because you were friends after all. She was stubborn, so Phoenix eventually gave up, deciding to confess his feelings to you
Maya left the office on purpose, leaving you alone, and Phoenix was determined to tell you everything. When he called your name and said you needed to talk, the lawyer saw how much you blushed, but he continued. He told you that he was in love with you, trying not to get nervous and say something that you might think was stupid. When he looked at your face, hoping to understand what you were thinking, he saw how much you blushed, after which you hurried to hug him and said that you were in love with him too and that you were happy that he confessed first
As it soon turned out, you were in love with him for a long time, but you were afraid of being rejected, so you didn't tell him about your feelings. His confession came as a real shock to you, but you were happy that your feelings were mutual. Phoenix smiled, hugging you back, and realized that he would need to thank Maya for the fact that thanks to her stubbornness, you could now be together
⚖️ Miles Edgeworth x Reader 🚘
Miles Edgeworth devoted almost all his time to work. He did not waste time on personal relationships, much less on relationships, and was confident that this would continue for a very long time. That was until he met you. You were a quiet and shy person who helped him with his work. He was comfortable talking to you and the more time you spent together, the more he realized that he was falling in love with you
The realization of his own feelings for you came as a surprise to him. He tried not to pay attention to them, because he needed to focus on work, but every time he saw your shy smile and embarrassed blush, he couldn't help but think about how cute you were. Eventually, he realized that he couldn't resist his feelings for you, so he decided to deal with it once and for all by confessing his feelings to you. He understood that if you reject him, then he can try to let go of these feelings. And if you reciprocate his feelings, then he will be really happy about it
When Miles asked you to stay in his office, you were clearly worried. You didn't look up at him, and Edgeworth started talking about what had been on his mind for the last few weeks. When he looked at you again, he saw that you were looking at him in shock and there was a bright blush on your cheeks. When he stopped talking, you confusedly told him that you were in love with him, that you were glad that he had mutual feelings for you, and also that he confessed his feelings to you, because you could not decide to tell him what you felt
The next day, everyone who saw the prosecutor was surprised at how happy he looked, compared to how gloomy he usually was. The thought that his feelings for you were mutual really made him smile softly. You were together now not only as friends, but also as lovers
☕️ Godot x Reader 🕶
Godot was known as a mysterious prosecutor with whom it was difficult to find a common language. It happened to everyone except you. You were a quiet and shy person who helped him with his work, collected documents and just kept him company. At first, Godot treated you with simple friendliness. You seemed nice to him and he liked talking to you, but gradually he became more and more aware that he began to have feelings for you other than friendly ones. He fell in love with you
He didn't know what to do. There were still feelings in his heart that he felt for Mia, but he understood that he would not be able to be with her anymore. Another problem was that he doubted that his feelings were mutual. You deserved someone clearly better than him, but his feelings for you only got stronger, so he decided to confess to you in order to figure out once and for all whether this would have any continuation or whether he would just tell you about his feelings and try to drown them out and forget about them
When Godot was delayed at work once again, you kept him company, sorting out documents. He was looking at you, thinking about what he should do. Finally, he nodded to himself, took a sip of coffee from his mug and spoke. He said that he needed to tell you something, which attracted your attention, but when he told you about his feelings for you, he saw a bright blush appear on your cheeks. You looked at him in shock, listening to his confession, and when he stopped talking, you quietly told him that you also had feelings for him
You honestly told him that you were afraid to admit your feelings to him because you were afraid that he would reject you. That's why you were so surprised that he confessed his feelings to you, but at the same time you were happy. Listening to you, Godot smiled softly and felt his heart filled with warmth. His feelings were mutual and it made him happy
🪶 Simon Blackquill x Reader ⛓️
Simon worried a lot of people. His gloomy appearance, dark sense of humor and dark past repelled others, so the fact that you started communicating with him surprised not only others but also himself. You were different. You were a kind, shy, gentle and quiet person, so many people advised you to stop communicating with Simon, but you didn't listen to them, which bribed him, even though he would never admit it. Sometimes it seemed to him that you saw his true identity, which you shouldn't have known about
Although no one, including you, would have guessed it for anything, but he fell in love with you. Simon cared about you, even though he hid it behind a mask of sarcasm, but you never resented him. He did not know at what point you would decide that you would like to stop your communication, so he decided to confess to you so that if you stopped your communication, he would not regret not telling you about his feelings
You were together in his office and that's when he decided it was time to tell you the truth. You smiled sheepishly when he called your name and he confessed to you that he was in love with you. Simon paused, waiting for some kind of answer from you, and he waited for it. You blushed deeply and lowered your eyes in embarrassment, saying that you were also in love with him and that he had the same feelings for you made you happy. You honestly told him that you couldn't decide to confess your feelings to him for fear of rejection, so the fact that he beat you to the confession calmed you down and dispelled all your fears
Few people would have guessed that you started dating, but in private, Simon really became softer towards you. He wanted you to never regret accepting his feelings. He could be sincere with you, at least when you were alone
📿 Nahyuta Sahdmadhi x Reader 🦋
From the very first day of your acquaintance, Nahyuta treated you with gentleness. You were the one who helped him with his work to the best of your ability and at the same time you were probably the gentlest person he knew. You were a gentle, quiet and shy person who was always sincere in communication, but next to Nahyuta you always looked away in embarrassment and blushed. Your behavior seemed nice to him and you were always ready to listen to him when he talked about religion, even if you didn't understand it at all yourself. He could not have imagined that at some point he would realize that his feelings for you had ceased to be friendly
He was watching you and when you noticed it, he smiled gently, but did not say that he was in love with you. He understood that he had to do it and waited for the right moment. He didn't want you to feel awkward, because you'd already be embarrassed by his confession, and he didn't want that embarrassment to get any worse. That's why he decided to tell you everything when you were alone. His gentle confession did make you blush, but he was more surprised that you were not only embarrassed but also shocked
When he finished his confession, you approached him, not daring to look into his eyes and, taking his hand, confessed to him that you were in love with him, but could not decide to confess. Nahyuta seemed unattainable to you and you were afraid to hear a refusal from him, so you continued to remain silent, but he confessed to you and now your fear is in the past. You really didn't expect this, but you felt really happy knowing that your love was mutual
Everyone who saw you together couldn't help but smile. You both looked happier together. Nahyuta treated you with tenderness and care, and you always responded in kind. It was as if there was an atmosphere around you and no one dared to disturb your peace

hi do you think you could do a miles edgeworth x reader where reader comforts edgeworth during or after an earthquake ? maybe angst/comfort :) tysm!
Hello Anon, I'm glad to be writing again! Apologies for the late response, but I hope you're still around to read this :')
(Requests are now open again :D)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Comforting Miles Edgeworth during an earthquake:
Ever since the death of his father, Miles has always tried to avoid places where earthquakes are known to occur;
But with his constant traveling, he sometimes can't avoid it;
So when he's most insecure, he likes to bring you along, knowing that your presence alone is soothing enough for his terror;
Even if he knows that he's scared and knows how he behaves, he still cannot avoid fleeing to the first spot he deems safe enough and stays there, paralyzed;
He hates being in that state, remembering all the times it blocked him even at work;
But the worst times are when earthquakes strike where he thinks they're rare, like his home;
However, he noticed that whenever you were around, everything was easier, he would calm down faster and his reactions were milder;
He'll probably never recover from the trauma, so finding you was the best thing that could happen to him.
Miles set the freshly brewed tea on the table as he waited for you to return from the kitchen, sat on the chair and adjusted his glasses before pouring the drink into each of your cups.
"Which one did you prepare? Darjeeling again? Or the usual Earl Grey?" as you finally emerged from the room next door, drying your hands with a dishcloth, Miles felt a little tug on his lips and moved a chair closer to his, instead of in front of it. "It's the one I brought you from India, it's a green tea mix of Sencha and Assam, so it's a little less intense than a black one" he gently guided you by hand to sit "So I'm not allowed to add any sugar?" "Nu-uh" he sipped his cup, as his muscles melted on the seat.
Miles loved this moment of the week; after a long, usual day of work, he could relax all the time wanted, knowing tomorrow was a full rest. He would usually read one of his books, or a file case -if in a better mood- and just wait to fall asleep. Luckily, now with your company, he could also have pleasant conversations with someone equally lovely.
The time flew by between a teapot-amount of tea, some discussions about work, hobbies and a very long parenthesis about Miles' recent new assistants in his investigations. You moved on the couch and searched for something to watch as Miles took the tea set and brought it to the kitchen.
However, everything paused when the lights suddenly went out "Miles? Stay where you are, I'll go take the torch" You carefully moved around the apartment, making your hands go first. All the other buildings outside were in total blackout, so the research for the torch was sped up, feeling something bad was arriving.
Feeling that was confirmed mere seconds later, sensing the earth under your feet and the furniture around starting to tremble, first imperceptible, but soon became a true quake. Your first thought went to Miles. Found the torch, as everything trembled, the sound of many pieces of porcelain crashing to the ground of the other room made your guts fall to the ground, and your body followed soon enough.
You had to stay still until the tremors weakened enough to stand up again and rush to the kitchen, making way with the light in hand. As soon as all the ceramics on the ground were spotted, you searched for Miles and undoubtedly found him huddled under the table, quivering and protecting his head with his arms.
Miles froze on the spot when the light blacked out, holding tight to the tray with the tea set, but as soon as the smallest tremor hit his feet, he started shaking and searched somewhere to hold on, but a horrific shake made him fall to the ground, crashing everything in hands and banging his head on some counter. The already black vision didn't help his attempts to not go back to that elevator, all he could do was hug himself as strongly as possible and reach the first wall to have some sort of support around. When a light was pointed at his face, he somewhat understood that he was not inside the elevator, but his head couldn't come out of there.
"Miles! Miles are you hurt?!" you kneeled beside him and tried to "unlock" his head from the protection he created "Miles, it's okay, we're safe, it's gone" you attempted to make him better see around, but he was elsewhere right now, shaking uncontrollably and barely breathing. Nothing comforting worked, between cuddles and gentle whispers, he went increasingly apnoea and tears started falling.
To avoid panicking, you forced his hands away from his face, making him look at you, softly shaking his shoulders to make him inhale air again "Miles please, breathe with me, everything is all right" You found his hand and almost instinctively he clasped his hand with all his strength around yours.
Luckily, lights started to come back to the buildings outside, and when the kitchen ones turned on again, you turned Miles' face towards yours, seeking for any potential injuries, which were more than visible on his temple "I have to get something for your head, you're bleeding" you applied soft pressure on it, but instantly understood that no one was moving soon
Miles remained rigid for some more minutes before slowly coming back to earth. He finally recognized his kitchen and your hand, which up until three seconds ago was the gun he had thrown all those years ago. His mouth wouldn't open, his eyes wouldn't stop leaking tears and his body wouldn't stop shaking; all he managed to do was climb on your legs, searching for a safe position and trying to stabilize his breathing.
You slowly dragged his body from under the table, moving with him until a wall could be used as a backrest, covering his body with your own to give comfort and warmth. Your free hand gently stroked his locks while the one Miles held, kindly caressed his fingers. "Everything is okay Miles, as long as I'm here you're safe, nothing will ever happen to you again" Your thumb cleared his eyes of tears and slipped along his cheeks, allowing Miles to finally relax against you, keeping his eyes open to not permit his mind to play tricks.
"I'm sorry, I hate being like this" he mumbled and tried to straighten his back, loosening the grip on your hand "Don't even start, you're doing so good and it's not your fault. When you're ready we can go to bed and try to forget all this" You shushed him when he tried to talk again, probably about the tea set or the "nuisance" he's causing you "I don't know… if I want to sleep" he softly sobbed, holding his head where it banged "Everything could be worse, and my head is hurting like crazy" he fell again against your body, hiding himself where nothing could see all the overbearing emotions on his features "We'll do whatever you want, just don't hide. The only thing I ask is that you let me aid that wound on your head" You sighed and watched yourself around, noticing that almost all the other cups in the cupboards were destroyed, but everything outside Miles was a tomorrow problem "It's ok, just… stay with me".
It took another two hours to pull Miles up that floor, dragging him to bed first and convincing him to get in his comfortable clothes after "You don't want to try and sleep?" his head was finally patched and massaged carefully to relieve some pain "Not now, if I get asleep, good, otherwise I prefer staying vigilant for any other earthquakes" Miles melted against you, trying his best to listen to your advice and get some sleep, trying to forget what happened and how the perfect evening was ruined in the worst way possible "You can ask for some days off if you want to re-do this stolen time; I'm sure Gumshoe would help your request" Your mind could read his thoughts, and caught the opportunity to let his head wander somewhere else "I hate to skip work for such futile motives; my weakness shouldn't obstruct my work" "Oooh yes, sorry Mr. Chief Prosecutor, the office will crumble on its own weight without you" Your hands kept cuddling him softly enough to stimulate his sleep.
Miles stayed still and silent, eyes closed, ignoring the pain in his head and everything else around, and inside his thoughts. He'll never recover, he knows that perfectly, but if the reserved treatment every time was like this, he could learn to handle better his trauma, and learn how to be properly thankful for what life is finally granting him, not just inflicting; you.
