To share my general revisions about the R1 bosses, I had an idea about merging Bzzit and Moskito into a single character. I just think it gives some character development opportunities that way.

Rayman’s ultimate ability is not his limbless body or his helicopter hair no it’s his ability to turn enemies into allies. It started off with Bzzit the moskito in Rayman 1. Then by origins he was straight up turning boss monsters into friends. He even befriended his evil clone.

That’s what makes Rayman a fearsome fellow

HEADS UP THIS IS GUNNA BE A LOOOONG ONE

The worlds from Rayman 1 are on a different continent than the Glade of Dreams. It's Rayman's birth place! After Dark's defeat, the bosses all treat Rayman a lot better and there's no hard feelings between any of them. They were tricked by Mr. Dark to think Rayman was an enemy. When the truth came out, they shunned Mr. Dark and are back to doing their own thing.

Though after these events, Betilla decided to go take the great protoon into safekeeping and travelled with Rayman to the Glade of Dreams and that's where they all stayed. The Great Protoon currently rests within the fairy council in their artifacts vault.

Whenever Rayman does go back to his birth home he'll stop by and meet with some of the old characters. He still hits up Joe's whenever he's there for example. He's always gotta grab an ice cream soda float since it gives him childhood nostalgia.

Out of the original boss roster (Minus Mr. Dark of course), the ones that do pop up outside of the Rayman 1 Universe continent (Haven't come up with a name for it yet) are Bzzit and the other mosquito boss (Bzzit having the role he had in Revolution where he acts as the Dockmaster. The other Mosquito is a relative of his), Space Mama, and Mr. Sax.

Skops just tends to keep to himself and doesn't really like having visitors. Rayman only goes to see him when he needs information. Skops knows Rayman doesn't normally bother him unless it's important. A mutual understanding between the two. Because of that, he doesn't pop up frequently. Same deal with Mr. Stone.

Mr. Sax is a famous orchestra conductor and actually does leave the continent with other members of Band Land for performances. Has even performed at some of Rayman's hero ceremonies and other events. He's also old friends with the Limbless Musician and his family.

Space Mama often leaves Picture City with her assistants to perform plays around the world. Rayman likes to get tickets to these and will take friends to these performances. Space Mama always makes sure Rayman gets the good seats.

There is one very important face from Rayman 1 that does pop up or is mentioned frequently, and that's The Limbless Magician. That character is Betilla's lover and Rayman's Father figure. Betilla created Rayman in his image. The Magical Academy Raymona and Ales Mansay attended was the same one he attended with his cousin, Andrew.

When Rayman and Betilla left that continent to safeguard the Great Protoon, he stayed behind to keep an eye on things. Mr. Dark is currently recovering at the candy chateau, so the Magician would be the first to know when he finally makes a comeback.

The Magician always writes to them both, and always visits for special events and holidays. It's just been hard on Rayman because he misses the days where both of his parental figures were a constant presence in his life and not separated.

Raymesis is also the same as the Dark Rayman from the first game. Over time he matured and gained more of a personality for himself that wasn't just an evil copy that mirrors Rayman's movements. He became his own person.

Raymesis also lost the ability to kill on touch. He's glad that ability is gone, but it does effect him to this day where he sometimes wonders if a person he touches is going to just die. When you touch him, it actually gets a reaction out of him. May even scare him a bit if it's someone that isn't Mr. Dark that gained his trust and respect.

Sorry for the long response there anon, but my world building does try to include faces from games past. The original Rayman and some of the educational games included. I've also considered adding some things from the fan remake of Rayman Redemption.

Heck even some scrapped content also appears in some way or another. Characters included!

Name: Bzzit

Debut: Rayman

Hello and welcome to Funky Friday, on this Funny Fly Friday! It is Funny Fly Friday because I have decided to write about a funny fly. This is Bzzit, and while I may not have played that much Rayman, WOW I love Bzzit! And you will too. If you don’t love Bzzit by the time you finish reading this post, I’m sorry for pressuring you. You don’t have to.

You can already tell by looking at him that Bzzit is an absolutely perfect darling, and an ideal cartoon mosquito, with big ol’ eyes and a proboscis! And a very neat segmented, retractable proboscis, too! Like so many creatures of this world, he also has floaty hands and feet, but not JUST floaty hands and feet... floaty white gloves and sneakers! That is so good! This is a mosquito living in a swamp! Where did he get those?

From the first image here you could probably tell Bzzit seems a bit Disgruntled. And here, you can see he is outright Angry! That’s because he is the first mini-boss in the game, so he means a little bit of business.

And it seems it’s not just his hands and feet that are floaty, because he completely disassembles temporarily when hit! Yeowch!

When Bzzit is defeated... he cries. Rayman does his silly victory dance, while this poor mosquito is legitimately hurt by this whole experience. But then, something wonderful happens.

Rayman notices Bzzit’s suffering. He stops dancing, and gives him reassuring pats on the eyeball. They high-five.

And just like that, so easily, they become friends! It was all just a misunderstanding, maybe they weren’t in quite the right mindsets a few minutes ago, but that’s okay, and it’s in the past now. A massive, needle-faced parasite is, in this game, someone with feelings, who really just wants a friend. And this, along with the simplicity with which this friendship is shown happening, is really one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen in a video game!

Right away, in the following portion of the level, Bzzit gives Rayman a ride across the water! What would Rayman have done without friendship? Died, I guess!

WhIn Rayman 2, Bzzit himself does not appear, but there are mosquitoes flying harmlessly around the environment. I know I said I love the big ol’ eyes and proboscis look, but this is a bit silly, now! Where are your thorax and abdomen? When you slurp, where does it go? Do you even slurp at all? It would be such a sad life to have a proboscis and not slurp!

Thankfully, in Rayman Revolution, the sort of remake/enhanced version of Rayman 2, Bzzit DOES appear, now with actual legs! And he owns a boat! Why does he have a boat? Maybe it reminds him of his aquatic larval and pupal stages. Regardless, Rayman could really go for a boat right about now, and Bzzit lets him use it, because they are friends who help each other!

While none are confirmed or denied to be Bzzit, many mosquitoes appear in Rayman Origins, where they are once again rideable friends! Mosquito riding is now better than ever, as they can not only shoot little energy blasts, but also inhale and blast enemies into and out of their proboscis! Bzzit was too shy to do that part. I just don’t like the new teeth they have. A distinct head base? On MY cartoon mosquito?!

Bzzit has not made any appearances in the series in quite a long time, but the appearances he did make were so wonderful! Look! He’s slurping.

I combined HoodlumHavoc!Rayman and a little of Brawhala!Rayman while with Bzzit, I mainly kept his original design but detailed him a bit more because to be honest, I think outside of the original game, he looks pretty ugly. This is the first time I draw most of these characters! Also the first time I draw Mr. Dark with his Rayman 1 design. I particularly struggled with Mr. Skops and Space Mama but I hope it looks alright!

My Digital Design class had a project recently where we pick a game, play the game, and make a storyboard based of that said game. You can guess which game I picked 😃

Btw, they are mainly very messy and mostly uncolored sketches because I have to do like 20 panels before June 2nd so I wanted to be quick and effectively as possible.

Oh and yeah, sorry about the computer screen affect on some images, can't help with that.

What are your headcanons on the first rayman bosses

Bzzit

Bziit is a pacifist at heart, so when he had to fight Rayman, it was more by obligation to Moskito than for anything else.After his battle, he stayed friend with Rayman and while his role was minimal, he was still an ally to Rayman when the Robo-Pirate attacked the glade.(I was so happy the first time I saw him in Rayman Revolution) He is now living peacefully with the other members of his specie.

Moskito 

Like many bosses in this list, Moskito was probably perturbed with the disappearance of the Great Protoon.Because of that he became very aggressive and he prompted Bziit (his Cousin ? Brother ?) to also attack RaymanAfter losing his battle, he disappeared in the forest for a while.He came around later, among with other members of his species in Rayman Origins and legends.

Mr SAX

Mr SAX is one of the many bosses been perturbed by the disappearance of the Great Protoon.

Mr Sax is a cool guy when he’s not out to get you. 

He’s still dwelling is the band land, and is visited sometimes by Holly Luya, who considers him as some sort of right hand.

Mr Stones

This one is a bit tricky. Unlike many bosses, he wasn’t perturbed by the disappearance of the Great Protoon. Mr Stones is also a bit ... Of a knucklehead.

He’s nice but when he saw everyone else turn crazy, he got defensive.

Mr Dark didn’t have to do much to convince him that Rayman was at the origin of the problem. Which ensued the evnt we all know.

On a side note, there is a nursery rhyme named Mr Stones, it talk about a monster who burps loudly in a cave, so i guess he’s not really the graceful/polite type either. (Rayman Maternelle)

Mr Stones is still in the blue mountains, and he is an ally of Helena Handbasket

He’s a Friend of Clark the Giant too.

Space Mama

Same as many others, Space Mama got crazy when the Protoon got stolen.Her madness was fuelled by the fear taht her popularity was threatened when Rayman started to kick the butts of the other bosses. Because of that, she decided to go full Diva on him and show him how dramaturgy is done.It’s been implied in Rayman Maternelle that she was short tempered, or has an aversion for clowns, or one, for that matters. In that game, said clown call her a witch and while it was probably meant more an insult than to state a fact....Well it would explain why she was able to shoot lazers out of her rolling pin. That or we found our missing Nymph.It would also explain why she was hunted by the count Razoff at one point (french dossier de presse).Little is know on her fate to this day.

Mr Skops

This one got reaaaaal crazy. Skops was a tiny scorpion before the loss of the Great Protoon and he became mad and aggressive as hell.

In a nursery rhymes in Rayman Maternelle, he is mentionned and shown as a little scorpion. I speculate it was him before becoming a huge beast.

His transformation is almost similar of what we have seen with the 4 kings, only to a lesser degree.When Skops is finally defeated he didn’t quite get back his original form back, but apparently, he became acquainted with Space Mama since he’s seen chillin’ on her drakkar.

Mr Dark

So uh... I have my own take Mr Dark.I have no basis on this, that just my pov, until Ubisoft decides otherwise.

I don’t believe he’s a teensie. The one we have seen in the kinda canon trailer, until further proof, I’m going to consider it was Ales in a cosplay. 

I think that Mister Dark’s origin is directly linked to Rayman’s. Or vice versa.First, why I think they’re linked to one another.Mister Dark is a magician. He has a lot of powers and different spells, unlike Rayman who’s more of a brawler who has to be give powers from Bétilla to get stronger. Which is normal considering game canons of the time, bad guys is completely different from good guy. But here we also have a difference in aspect.We have a RAY man, and a mister DARK. Light versus dark, yin and yang , you see what i mean.It wouldn’t be surprising at the point we’re at that the creation/invocation of one prompted the apparition of the other, to balance things out.And there is exactly a situation where it happened.

The chaos created by Jano might have prompted Mr Dark to existence (or who knows maybe Jano created him), as a mass of darkness taking it’s time to take shape and skills.And we know what prompted Rayman’s creation.It could also be the other way around, the creation of Rayman may have directly prompted the apparition of Mr Dark too.That’s how i see it anyway.
