It’s like how there’s the other time-honored debate of whether Norman has white hair or the absolute lightest shade of blond. (Though his eye color has remained consistent; there’s also this post by @just-like-playing-tag​ showing the evolution of Emma’s eyes from a yellowish green to more of an emerald one.)

But if we’re going strictly by chapter cover art, the most recent ones are from the bonus chapters where they both have black/grey eyes:

And it’s the one he’s most commonly seen with.

Interestingly, Identity V gave him a different shade of blue from Norman:

I’ve seen him given every natural eye color in addition to purple at this point, and he can pull all of them off, without question. But with how this never serves as a significant plot point in canon proper, I think one can get away with headcanoning any darker color. As a treat, like I do lol; specifically in the way pan_ahoi frames it in this comic where they typically appear black, but in the right lighting show they’re the deepest shade of violet (translation courtesy of @1000sunnygo​)

Makes it more plausible for him to have some variant of them while still not being quite as obvious about their relationship. (Also rambled a bit about this here but I know you’ve recently seen it lol)

hi . im lana del ray anon . heres another thingy :

a little personal but i like to listen to the most melodramatic , sad romance type songs while playing idv . its just silly to do lol . so im just thinking the survivor / hunter the player is playing also has to listen to these songs while kiting / decoding ... just like listening to " blind " by sza and player is humming along or something ...

idrk . just a drabble .

While I don't play idv anymore, l've been having a great time listening to some old romantic songs like "Anyone Who Had A Heart" by Cilla Black and so this drabble is very relatable!

First thoughts they have: are you suffering through an unrequited love? Perhaps a breakup. Is someone or something bothering you? Actually, you probably just like to listen to melodramatic songs casually, it makes them ashamed of having sent worried glances at each other when hearing you humming along without any care. Also, wouldn't people try to hear something hype up their spirits in a match? The pieces of music are quite unsuitable for this occasion...If it makes you happy and focused, there are no major complaints.

When the distant sounds of calm melodies and the quiet humming came along, Aesop Carl knew that it couldn't be anyone other than you. The beautiful stillness of death was his companion since he knew how to hold a makeup brush, a silence that he convinced himself of being the only one to fully savor. With his hands, he can bring the joy of standing in front of the gates to the afterlife. He will stand by his ideals forevermore, but, for now, having your voice and tunes replace this empty room wasn't so far from what he deems as beauty.

disclaimer: i haven't played the game itself (no storage + i dont love multiplayer) but i have read the lore for the 'main story'. despite this i'm not done going through all the lore yet 😭 so take with a grain of salt

gameplay wise 🧂:

identity v is about 4 survivors playing tag in the woods with a hunter, until they either escape by decoding ciphers or die to the hunter via bleeding or rocket chair (i've heard this is very similar to dead before daylight).

there are 'story mode' cutscenes which play out the 'canon' events of the game

the game also has 'essences', which are a collection of skins and accessories with a common theme or storyline separate from the 'canon' events.

lore wise:

it's about an old mansion somewhere in england (?) where they hold death games in order to study 'something' about the participants (they havent explained why yet 💀).

the main/player character is orpheus, an author-turned-detective with amnesia who has a past in the manor. someone hires him to find their daughter, so he goes back to the manor for both the job and to figure out what he was previously doing there.

the story has a lot of reality-bending elements as well as dipping into supernatural areas with certain characters/games

manor games:

games keep private records of the contestants, and players also keep personal diaries of their events.

there are always 5 players, and usually a running theme between them. players are invited by letter from the baron of the manor

when all 5 players show up, they begin the game itself, which is where they start dying

sometimes- if not always, the games will drug the players involved. it's also the 1900s and they're probably inhaling microparticles of lead from the wall paint with every breath, so they like to emphasize unreliable narrators a lot. imo this... has it's ups and downs in terms of writing quality.

the cast:

i think? one of the biggest appeals of the game is the characters. like the majority of people (guilty myself) just focus on putting their favorites in weird situations. not saying the worldbuilding and overall lore is terrible, but it updates much slower than character releases. i've seen some fanart etc. disregard 'canon games' altogether and just post their characters in a certain 'essence' or use the non-story gamemode as their setting

each playable character has a simple backstory upon release, with more lore dropped every year on their 'character day' (i do not love this system lol but who am i to speak)

some characters are both survivors and hunters, called an 'identity switch system'.

BONUS who is ithaqua and/or nathaniel

Mister Ithaqua Identity V is a playable hunter

he was raised by a woman who was persecuted as a witch and he grew up isolated until the Incident, where she got kidnapped by a mob. then, he had to go bust her out and kill the main guy* who did it. but by the time that happened she was severely traumatized and he didn't know what he could do to treat her so he started pretending to be a monster with magic powers and killing people who went in the woods in an attempt to protect her.

i'm a big fan of his sigma mindset and creepy mannerisms.

*Nathaniel Norwell is a random npc. he's the 'only son' of the magistrate and also ithaqua's twin brother separated at birth.

he highkey sucks + gun to my head i couldn't tell you what i see in him 😔 but the seeing gaze itself is very strong i tell you. it's like a death ray and i'm killing him

OVERALL! it's a very mixed bag. there are more issues i didn't go into here 😭, and i think the story is a bit tricky to follow since it's very scattered and not chronological. regardless i still enjoy the lore and characters a lot 👍. idk if i can recommend since i don't play but it is free to play so there's nothing to lose but time

This is a surprise - a rare, out of the blue sort of surprise. Rarely did anyone approach him, not hunters, much less survivors, therefore, what could this one want to do with him? The distance closes, and despite his own cautious step backwards, an envelope's presentation serves to close- standing in that gap, polite in an invitation to take it from the hands of this young man, who looks distantly familiar.

"..." He takes it. Scanning over the words carefully, the message is...unexpected. 'Best Friend', it stirs memories of old, in golden rays, golden days - fond, this he could not deny.

Sincerely, he's smiling - "Thank you." ooc; hello again after three eons! i've at last crawled out of the current boss level being this uni term. it will be back, but for now i thought to update this blog a little, missed my grumpy fellow. hope everyone's doing dandy!

I did consider doing V's route first bc that's what I always see but when it came down to it I had to go for Ray, I could not wait. i love the twins too much (and tbh if I had enough hourglasses for the after ending idve played that before V's route bc i NEED to go save saeyoung)

That's so valid of you! It's a matter of personal preference at the end of the day. If I were to suggest the order-to-play routes, I'd say that is an order of Jaehee, Zen, Yoosung, Jumin, Seven, V, and then Ray. It's the one that slowly reveals more and more secrets in a deliberate way that lets you consume it with just a little more each time until you've got a lot of answers in your pocket! But, the desire to save the twins? I get it. I respect it.
