Jayfeather invented cat agriculture and not enough people talk about it

YES OH MY GOD YES I never talk about it because I don't know a lot about agriculture but my guy is just? Straight up growing herbs? He's an absolute fucking medicine cat prodigy like genuinely a prodigy.

He invents treatments, he completely overhauled the ability to get plants like catmint, he finds a herb scrap he doesn't know and goes out of his way to solve it, despite his prickly nature when it comes to honing his craft he's very open to just opening communication and bluntly asking "Do you know what this or have you dealt with this?" and then builds on that to invent REVOLUTIONARY new techniques, like everything with Briarlights treatment? revolutionary, never before seen, he's so fucking good at his job.

This is why when for my theoretical rewrite that i'll probably never make but is fun to poke, he starts out as a warrior but then gets bored of it because it's not mentally stimulating him. Which then he transfers into the medicine cat job, he takes to the researching and studying part of the job like a fish to water.

Jayfeather is an INCREDIBLY intelligent cat who deserves immense accreditation for his work in changing the way the clans can approach injuries and herb supplies and the series totally should have leaned into that by giving him more unusual cases that other medicine cats don't know how to handle.

Jayfeather is not the cat you want pulling thorns, Jayfeather is the cat you want working on new cures or experimenting with new combos or developing theoretical treatments. I want to see him take a poultice of multiple herbs, deduce the exact role each herb is doing, then use that to make a new specialized poultice for a specific kind of injury or infection. My man's not a doctor he's a scientist

Rereading Contagion and with 20 years of hindsight it is incredibly funny how much of this story just involves characters coughing and sneezing on each other because transmission is “aerosol mucous” and they want to illustrate all the transmission paths.
