This one page completely broke me. There's so much emotion in just a few panels, I love it. There's just as much said with his face as there is with his words.

The pain in his eyes... for all he tries to deny it, he deeply cares for Akane. Despite all his constant jabs, all the constant bickering, he never wanted to hurt her, not really. Not like this.

Yet here she is, the one person he cares for more than anything, saying the easiest way to get someone to hate him so much they just leave, is to treat them the same way he treats her.

And he just... stops. Processing. So many moments replaying in his head. He doesn't have any comebacks, no defensive comments, no attempts at denying his feelings. Just immediately trying to assess how much damage he's actually done, how badly he's hurt her, without even trying.

She just kind of brushes it off, but she does so with a smile. She sees the uncertainty in his eyes, the concern in his voice. So she reassures him, she's still right there

Of course, he IS still a dumbass when it comes to these things, so...

Im going to start a dedicated ranma blog soon, but I just had to share this. in episode 6, ranma and akane are eating burgers. Ranma finishes 2 burgers, is starting on his third, then notices something. Akane just finished her first burger and started on her second, which was a double. This prompts ranma, in his dorky, stupid ranma way, to say, " Wow, you're hungry." He then, over the course of the scene, eats at least 2 more burgers. I love this little fucker.

I do really like this bit on the Ranma Fridge page that the reason why Akane is ostensibly the weakest fighter in the main cast is because she's on a consciously self-imposed handicap for almost the entire series.

There are implications that the original Tendo fighting style actually revolves around traditional samurai weaponry, and the few times Akane is seen wielding weapons she's actually really good with them.

Thing is that she (rightfully) hates Kuno so goddamn much that she probably switched to pure hand to hand in an attempt to distance herself from him, but the change was done when she just started high school so it hasn't been that long. She got good enough fast to effortlessly mow down waves of mooks, but she obviously struggles against anyone who has actually trained in their current style since childhood.
