Komala (Chapter 1- A Conversation)
The much anticipated Vanathi-Nandini confrontation is here.
Link to previous part: https://www.tumblr.com/thatacademic/716584149828452352/and-i-am-back-with-another-new-story-but-this-is?source=share
*****************
Silence prevailed after Nandini entered Vanathi’s chambers, though the latter felt like she was inviting someone capable of hurting her deeply within her safe space. And yet, that little voice in her mind told her, be kind to this beautiful Queen, and her strike will not be as hard as you think it would be.
“Vanangugiren, Ilaya Rani,” she repeated herself, chiding herself internally for being repetitive. This was not the grace she usually had, nor was it the poise she herself was capable of. She really needed to learn to be on guard at the flash of a second.
“Kodumbalur Kula vilakke, the hopeful future Queen of the Chozhas,” Nandini responded smoothly, her eyes calm and watching every move Vanathi made. Though she knew she was watching the latter as a leopard does its prey, Nandini felt a shining tigress within the Princess of Kodumbalur, who was well known for her incredibly kind heart and gentle smiles.
“Devi, please do not give me titles that are not mine by birth right,” Vanathi said politely, refusing to shutter under the now gleaming eyes of the Pazhuvur Raani. She knew the Queen’s tactics well by now, and she would not submit.
“They will be yours once you marry Ponniyin Selvan, will they not?” Nandini responded, surprised to see the flash in the demure girl’s eyes.
“I do not think I will be marrying him, thank you for asking, Devi,” the still polite Vanathi replied, her head held high, eyes holding fragments of her shattered heart clearly, and Nandini frowned mildly.
“Oh? So the rumours about him and that boat girl are true?” Nandini could not help but feel the pain of this young girl, too pure and innocent for the cruelty of the world, and yet braving it through; a warrior amidst the worst battlefield.
“How does it matter, Raani?” Vanathi asked, suddenly looking like she despaired everything, even life.
“Does it not? The entire Chozha Nadu is hoping for your marriage with Ponniyin Selvan, and him going back on the promise that has been made is an insult to the Irukkavel clan, Ilavarasi. Do you not see it?” Nandini responded, taken aback by the sudden flames that Vanathi’s orbs had become.
“I will not find fault with him, Devi. It is not possible for me to. I understand that he is the SuryaKula Manikkam, and I am but an orphan Princess,” Vanathi responded. “But I will not allow fault to be thrown at his feet.”
Nandini stared at the young girl, who declared herself as an orphan Princess, who would not hear any injustice against Ponniyin Selvan. And it was this light that he was ignoring? Were all men so thick headed, Nandini wondered, her mind flashing to the elder brother of Ponniyin Selvan, who had crushed her heart mercilessly.
“Life is not kind to you, Ilavarasi,” Nandini smiled lightly. “And it seems that the son of Kaveri, the one who is famed for his compassion, seems to carry none for you.”
“Devi, please,” Vanathi brought her hands up to her ears, unable to hear such minute diatribe against her chosen Lord. Her eyes were aflame like lightning, her ears containing golden earrings shaped like Lotuses, and strangely, Nandini suddenly felt herself reminded of Bhagavan Krishna’s Queens with Vanathi’s demeanor.
“How do you tolerate it, Ilavarasi?” she asked gently, as if searching for answers in Vanathi’s behaviour, in her body language, in her eyes, her heart.
“My love does not change whether his love is present or not, Devi. My love is for him solely, and if he doesn't love me, then it is the misfortune of this orphan, Ilaya Rani,” Vanathi smiled, a broken, broken thing, though the golden shine of her skin seemed to overpower everything suddenly.
“You… you shield yourself by accepting your situation as an orphan,” Nandini realized, able to appreciate the way the Princess, often seen as timid, carried herself. Maybe Vanathi rarely used her words, especially with Kundavai around to protect her, but she had studied and learned well. And used her words in such an honest, polite way. Nandini could not help but be moved, for this kindness was rare in this political world of Kingdoms and royalty.
“I am just being truthful, Devi.”
“And it is you that Ponniyin Selvar does not appreciate? You, who are like the lightning that flashes amidst the rain clouds? The stunning light of the Velar clan, the beloved and approved companion of the Ilaya Piratti, and it is you he does not appreciate?”
Nandini’s voice turned silvery, gentle and calm, as if trying to get Vanathi to look at her point of view. Vanathi stiffened, watching Nandini very carefully.
“Tell me, Ilavarasi, does it not hurt that Ponniyin Selvan does not care for you the way you deserve to be cared for?” Nandini’s words seemed like the strike of a cobra, but the pain that she hid mostly successfully was visible to Vanathi’s eyes, as she looked at the Pazhuvoor Queen.
“It does hurt, Raani, but that is my problem, is it not? Despite the insistence of the elders, I will not make Ponniyin Selvar do anything he does not want to. Nor do I want him to think of me as someone foisted on him.”
“But should he not know the pain you feel? To see the error of his ways?” Nandini responded, though astonishment rang through her at the powerful words of the supposedly naive Princess of Kodumbalur.
“Devi,” Vanathi said softly. “I pray that he never feels the pain I do, with all that I am.”
Nandini just looked at Vanathi, deep and hard, the latter calm in that moment for some reason.
“As a woman who has been hurt, Devi,” Vanathi continued, suddenly plucking the courage from nowhere. “I can guarantee that none would want the hurt they face to be rained on another, even if they think they do.”
Nandini let out a gasp, almost doubling over as if a force had shattered through her and rung in her head. Vanathi quickly moved to hold the Queen by the arms, seating her on the settee, making sure that Nandini was okay. She moved to fetch water, when the petal-like hand of Nandini stopped her.
“No need, Ilavarasi. I need to go,” she stood up, though looking visibly shaken, an expression Vanathi had never before seen on the face of the Queen. “Lest Ilaya Piratti finds out that I have been here in your chambers.”
“I am already here, Ilaya Rani.”

India Wins 5-0 to Kyrgyz Republic in Group G AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Round 1
The wards of Thomas Dennerby had not won in the previous five international engagements in 2023. And in Dolon Omurzakov Stadium, they finally unleashed a display of talent and skilled teamwork. They won over the hosts 5-0 clear, and the Kyrgyz Republic lost the first of the Group G AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Round 1 two-legged tie, on Tuesday. The victory increased India's likelihood of qualifying for the following round.
The two teams will confront each other once again in the second leg on Friday, wherein India will be already in the lead. The girls went on to win thanks to Anju Tamang's double strike and Soumya Guguloth's clinical volley in the initial half of the game, and then two more goals from Renu and Shilky Devi Hemam in the second half.
The Blue Tigresses began the game and took control of it in no time as Anju scored the first in the 6th minute. And she headed home from close range the rebound as Abibulla (opposition goalkeeper) attempted to save the freekick from Dalima Chhibber. Before even the hosts could gain some ground in the match, Anju scored repeatedly giving India an upper hand with a two-goal advantage.
And then Anju delivered an easy finish from Soumya’s cross from the right wing. India had a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half after Soumya's magnificent volley into the top corner of the goal four minutes later. Shilky scored the fourth goal in the 61st minute by smashing the ball into the bottom corner after receiving a thoughtful pass from Indumathi inside the box.
Renu took over for Sandhiya in the 62nd minute, and a minute later she scored the fifth goal of the game from a Dalima free-kick. India (Starting XI) has players such as Shreya Hooda (GK), Anju Tamang ( Karishma Shirvoikar 80’), Soumya Guguloth (Dangmei Grace 66’), Manisa Panna, Shilky Devi (Ritu Rani 89’), Sweety Devi, Ashalata Devi, Indumathi, Dalima Chhibber, Sandhiya Ranganathan (Renu 62’), and Karthika Angamuthu (Sangita Basfore 80’).

For so long Clementine hasn't spoken the language that she and her mother used to speak in private with each other, something that was uniquely their own. Mei had been determined to teach her only daughter her mother tongue; she had come from overseas from the motherland to settle in America for an acting career, and had attained that success, and she'd intended to pass that down to her daughter. That is, before the divorce happened when she was seven years old and everything went to shit in the household. Mei had left with her head held high with the dignity she had left. She remembered her mother as being one of the most beautiful women she'd ever seen, always poised and elegant even when relaxing or playing with her. The last time she saw her was when her dad was driving her home from her mother's larger than life estate after she'd visited her in Peachtree City, Georgia, standing by that... fucking peach tree, and the way she smiled sweetly at her, waving. That image burned inside her brain like bitter ashes in her mouth. Clementine had no idea what had happened to her when this all started. She was a wealthy woman, yes, but the walkers didn't discriminate between the rich nor the poor; Death came for everyone.
Sometimes she can still hear the screaming in that house years later. It seemed at this point that Clementine would never know what happened to her mother.
It left a sad, bittersweet taste in her mouth. Honestly, Clem had considered teaching it to both of her boys for the sake of honoring her mother, but honestly with the seemingly eternal threat of walkers all around them, adding another language onto both of them early into their curriculum when they were both so young just wasn't on the priority list, not when she was trying and breaking her fucking back and working her ass off to get food and supplies for her two growing boys, the tigress Rani and herself, not when they had Death following them around at every corner. Hyperthymesia had its pros and cons and retaining languages was one of those pros.
Upon turning around to look at her girlfriend, her brows raise in amusement as she looks at her in a soft, quiet awe, and she can't help but chuckle softly. Amber optics soften as she shakes her head, ❝Kèláiméntīng,❞ she says quietly, voice liquid smooth like a flowing river before pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead, ❝Nǐ zuò dé hěn hǎo, zǐluólán.❞ Clem encourages as her fingertips brush against her cheek and pushes a strand of hair back behind her ear. ❝Wǒ yǒu dōngxī gěi nǐ.❞ She momentarily reaches into her pocket before retrieving the purple flower of her lover's namesake and shows it to her, momentarily switching back to English, ❝Got this for ya'.❞ before she reaches over and places it into her hair; she'd gotten it from the greenhouse, God bless Ruby for maintaining the flowers. ❝Y'know, back in the old days, lesbians an' bisexuals used t' give violets to the girl they liked to symbolize their sapphic longing. It came from Sappho but it got real popular from the 1910's to the 1950's.❞ Clem had taken an interest in the newly reclaimed library now that the rest of the school was freed from the walkers. Who knows, maybe they could get a book club started? Maybe even start teaching the younger kids stuff when offduty. Only... no homework.
Aasim might like that, I'll need to ask him when he's not busy... like Lee promised me.
❝Ready for the mornin' patrol, wǒ qīn'ài de?❞
starter for @imaginarianisms ( clem ) from violet !
reconnecting with parts of her past had been difficult for violet in some regards—namely after everything that had happened with her grandmother. things really hadn’t been the same after that. sure, her mother still worked herself to the bone, and her father could never bring himself to put down the bottle, but the woman who had all but RAISED violet was gone; never having been the same after the loss of violet’s grandfather. and violet had been sent to ericson’s since her mother didn’t know what else to do with her—said she was troubled ( that something had to’ve been SERIOUSLY wrong with her ) since she hadn’t immediately phoned the police…something like that.
violet had been sure that she’d never even attempt to think back on those days, or try to revive the last, dying bit of mandarin she had left—until she met clem, the two bonded, and became connected in a way by the language. slowly, it had started to come back to her; bits and pieces, and her language still wasn’t perfect, but she was trying.
a ghost of a smile graced her lips as she approached clem, none too willing to start the day, but happy to see the other nonetheless.

Raat ki Rani
Pairing: Henry Cavill x OFC
Background: A story set in the colonial past of India.
Beta’d by my lovely friend @madbaddic7ed !
Warnings: harsh languange
...............................................................................................
Chapter 3
The hall looked magnificent as if the ghosts of the past had brought them back to the days of glory. The chandelier was lit up, its jewels reflecting light upon every nook and corner.
The musicians played with vigor, expecting a heavy reward for their best efforts and the sweet-scented welcome of every guest added to the pomp.
Every high born around the state was to be present in the feast, and there they were, happy to make the acquaintance of the new British resident. The only glitch was that the said officer was nowhere to be seen, making the Maharaja jittery and a little annoyed.
Soon everyone would start asking questions, for how long was he supposed to distract guests with starters? With this thought, Ganga nodded at Kulwant, asking him to get an update.
*******
Late again! But the blame was on the delay with the dress they insisted to be worn. What was wrong with the old ones? Nothing when I see them!
Who in their right minds would wear these? UGH. I will have to talk to the culprits after this goddamn feast for that buffoon!
As Damini walked through the seemingly deserted halls of the palace, fixing her stubborn hair, adding a gajra and cursing the dressmaker, she did not realise that she took a wrong turn.
Distressed by her woes of fashion and etiquette that mandated her presence in that debauchery, she walked in a jiffy towards her dear friend, Ashwanth.
The gajra, long forgotten, embraced the side of the marble tile near a very special room. Only the melody of her heavy gold trinkets echoed in the air paired with a certain gift, attracting the attention of a handsome blue-eyed devil who was switching to his suits after giving the Indian kurta a chance.
The sound made him curious like the first night, and his feet dragged him to the halls. Only half dressed, shirt unbuttoned, he looked around and tried to trace the echo. All that he could concur, was a moving shadow with the curves of silk, the bells moving in sync with those voluptuous hips. Coming back to his allotted room, the only remnant of that siren laid across the floor.
The gift.
That smell.
His hand snatched the bunched flowers, as if the grounds would swallow them if he wasn’t quick enough. One whiff and he knew he needed it in his life more than the opium his friends favoured.
So, it belonged to a person after all, and by the accompanying silhouette, a woman.
His woman.
A sudden realization had his pupil dilated, as he went back to the room. She might be at the feast.
If he heard them right, everyone significant would be present in that hall, and she was the most significant.
He chuckled at his poetry, what is wrong with me, he thought. He moved around the room with swiftness but also a renewed interest, humming tunes while he applied a dash of cologne and adjusted his jacket to perfection.
He passed the mirror one last time, stopping to fix his hair. He had to look perfect for his sweet maiden. His brows furrowed, a troubling thought flashing his mind. What if she was spoken for? What if she was claimed already, her heart in someone else’s hands?
Blue eyes turned colder than a foot of ice.
Hands on the desk,
He looked at himself,
A crooked smile gracing,
Then what?
Then,
A war like no other.
A war that would put Trojan and Mahabharata to shame.
A knock at the door tamed the raging storm in his eyes. Lord Cavill looked up, frowning at the distasteful intrusion upon his whims and fancies.
Ah, the big bad boulder.
“Come in, General! I assume you are here to escort me to the venue?”
“Khamba Ghani Cavill Saab. I heard that the British people are always on time, and yet here I find you, barely dressed for the occasion.”
A smirk laced the British resident’s face as he retorted, “Well you’re not wrong, but I happen to be the guest of honour and I may arrive whenever I may please. In fact, just for that comment, I would like to take a few more minutes before I leave.” And he turned towards his desk and picked up a recent correspondence from the Crown.
Kulwant couldn’t help but roll his eyes, a movement instantly caught by the blue-eyed man.
“Keep going! I will take an extra minute for each time you roll your eyes, kind sir.”
It was beyond the General’s comprehension that a man as petulant as this entitled bleached monkey, could even hold the post of a hawaldar in court, let alone be a Lord of some sort. Nevertheless, he was a guest, and of honour at that.
Thus, the loyal servant of the court stood tall and quiet while the firang made his point, albeit unnecessarily.
Once he was done having fun at the General’s expense, Cavill agreed to be escorted to the event. He reached the hall, and couldn’t believe his eyes for a minute.
The hall looked straight out of a fairytale, and the worth of the mere jewels studded on the walls could help him buy a couple of kingdoms.
He reigns in his musings, and walks toward Maharaja Ganga Singh.
************
“We don’t have time! Baba will decorate his court with my head! Let’s go!”
“Damu! Come on, wait! You don’t even have flowers in your hair.”
“You think I care, Ashwanth!? I can barely move in this outfit! It’s so heavy and so unnecessary! All for that invader and his honour! What can be more honourable than stealing lands you have no business with, right?”
“Damu, don’t be silly! You’re a princess, and you cannot just march into the hall like a maid! Here, let me put these roses and..Can you just.. oho! THERE.”
“That’s right! I am a princess and this is my palace! Watch me..”
The two friends kept bickering along the way. Anyone who had seen these two would mistake them for longtime lovers, and yet things remained strictly platonic, at least from Damini’s end.
For someone with an expertise in strategising, warcraft and literature, the princess often missed the veiled looks Prince Ashwanth threw at her. How he always brought gifts, only in exchange for her ruthless company and how he bowed down to all her incessant demands, all for her pleasure.
To Ashwanth, she was the key to his future and beyond. To Damu, he was the ever constant confidant, seemingly balanced and loyal to a fault.
As they moved towards the hall, she made eye contact with her father and naturally started walking to him, just like she has been trained to, her seat to his left calling out to its rightful master. What she didn’t realise was a figure moving in the same direction.
Lost in conversation and the pull of the decorum, she collided with a commoner, which only fueled her frustration.
“Dekh ke nahi chala jata kya? Humare raste aane ki himmat kaise hui?” (Can't you see where you're going? How dare you get in my way?)
“What did you just say?! How dare you use that tone with me?
“Poore mahal mein yeh gorey deemak ke bhaanti badhte hi ja rahe hain! Ek din ka bhi chain nahi hai!”(These white people are everywhere, like pests! Give me a break)
“Damu yeh..”(Damu this is….)
“Honge apne desh mein nawab, yahaan pe inki aukaat humaare naakhoon baraabar bhi na hain! Aur aise kya ghoor rahe hain yeh, laaj lajja kuch hai inko?” (He might be a Lord in his country, but here he isn't worth my toenail! And why are you staring at me like that? Have you any shame?)
Lord Cavill fumed at this disgrace of a woman, one who dared to look him in the eye and dared to speak while addressing him directly. Although he could not understand her words, her tone and posture were enough to get her backhanded, had they not been in the presence of company.
This unruly child must be taught a lesson.
If anyone asked Lord Cavill, a woman’s tongue is only good for two things, sewing her mouth shut and on his cock whenever he pleased. If he didn’t expect the siren of his dreams to be in attendance, he would have put her in her place. Even if he could not punish this puny, dusky troll, he still had a reputation to defend.
“You listen to me carefully woman! You are messing with the wrong man, and spewing gibberish in some primitive language is not going to save you! Do you even know who I am? You are in MY bloody court and if I please, I can rip that serpentine tongue out of that pretty little hole! So you better apologise!”
“Cavill Saab.. please.. that’s my..”
“APOLOGISE? For what? Standing on my own soil? Or comparing you to a termite? None of which are false in my eyes. So get out of my way and know your place or you know what, go cry to your incompetent Lord!”
A storm raged in their eyes, wrath of all oceans combined in his and a black blizzard stirred concurrently in hers.
“Eyes down now, foreigner. ” The Tigress growled in warning.
The entire hall was suddenly quiet at the outburst. The musicians had stopped playing, and by the look of amusement on their faces, this was not the first time Damini Bai Sa had been the centre of attention.
Ashwanth tried pulling her back, her father was shooting daggers at her, while her siblings stood with aggravated expressions, exasperated by this wild child. It was Ganga Singh, who walked towards the ruckus and roared, which broke the deadly silence that had thickly draped the occasion.
“DAMINI! Are you out of your mind?! Do you even know WHO that is? Forgive me my Lord! This is my youngest child, Rajkumari Damini Bai, and I do not know what got into her, she is nothing like this!”
Renu and Revati Bai snickered at this comment and tried to hide their glee when they could see their father’s plan failing. No way will Lord Cavill bed this wild boar! They were preparing themselves for saving the kingdom, all the while reaping the seeds of pleasure from it.
“Damu, this is Lord Cavill himself. What is wrong with you, my child? Apologise, right now!”
“I would rather do Jauhar..” (light a pyre)
“DAMI..”
“It’s alright, Mr. Singh! I cannot expect common courtesy from uncultured brats like her. It just saddens me that you bear this burden on your shoulders! She certainly must have brought tremendous shame to the title of a Princess!”
Damini was about to give him a piece of her mind when Ashwanth pulled her back and gave her a solid glare.
Lord Cavill continued, “ Forgive me, but Maan Singh and your daughters seem like true blue-blooded beings. Has she been adopted from the streets?” His condescending tone should have had all the swords in the realm drawn up, but the language barrier and a father’s resolution to shove his daughter at him, saved the British neck.
Damini could not tolerate the insult and charged at him, “ Oh this is it! You goddamn plague sore! I will..” but was blocked by Ashwanth who was done watching her embarrass the Rajputana pride like a common whore.
“THAT IS ENOUGH DAMINI! Go take a seat!” The Maharaja ordered. But when she moved to her designated seat, her father grabbed her by the arm and lashed out with gritted teeth, “Sit with the guests. That seat belongs to your Master now. And don’t you dare embarrass me further. You are to serve him, and make sure he is left wanting for nothing. Nothing.”
Tears threatened to fall as the Tigress straightened her back, the princess coming to the fore, taking her position in the room, finding her place in the oppressive hierarchy.
Cavill watched her change her stance, a subtle nod to whatever her father threatened her with and for a second, he was impressed by the precise mutation. That is when he noticed the princess for the first time. Not so bad for a desert kingdom, blooming in all the right places.
Back home, feisty women were his speciality, and he would often tame the likes of this woman, ploughing through their virgin lands.
His eyes wandered to her navel, as she walked to the guy who took her away earlier. Must be fucking her, and not enough at that! If she were in the right bed, she would be blissed out and her tongue tired. He could see her under him, screaming for an entirely different reason.
As the lust awoke, the mere thought of breaking this ballsy female had blood rushing to his groin, steeling his resolve as well as his cock. He had never bedded a princess, and was primed to claim her body for one night.
If that man could have her, she was fair game to all.
He strode towards the prize, steps decisive and eyes frigid. That is when he heard her voice, lowered but not discouraged by any means.
“Ashwanth, they let him take my seat, MY seat! And how could he say that about my lineage!? It was my seat!”
Ashwanth patiently replied, “ Don’t create a scene Damu, a chair does not define your position in the house, neither does some outsider! And can you please stop talking in English? You know how our people feel about it!”
Damini was feeling suffocated and needed to take a breath, but her luck soured the moment she felt thick fingers grabbing her arm, and felt his breath at the nape of her neck.
“You don’t need to get so riled up, princess. You know you can always sit on my lap like the little bitch you are.”
Damini looked at him with such fire in her eyes that it would have put Hestia to shame.
"Take. Your. Hands. Off. Me."
Taken aback, Cavill's grip loosened and she jerked out of his grasp with a rippling force. Much to the astonishment of the onlookers, she turned on her heel and stormed off.
The pride of her tears matched with the stride of the Tigress, refusing to fall before anyone.

Also, Carrie, Nell and Tiff were all “Batgirls-in-Training” before they got their ‘official’ Batgirl names. Both Helena-Huntresses exist in this universe, yes, as Helena Wayne crossed over from Earth Never-Two And Irey and Jai’s superhero names together make Hypervelocity, which I thought was super cool! :D

❝ When I was a girl of twelve, I’ve heard of a man known as Rick Grimes when the leaders of The New Frontier were discussing alliances with other settlements. A year later, a man named Paul Monroe, or as his friends liked to call him Jesus, told me about a man waging war on the coast against a tyrant and his so called Saviors, and how I should seek him out, but I had another mission in mind. Another year passed and I make a stop at a tavern on horseback and kept hearing stories about you, how you were so noble and yet so ... ruthless. And just I’ve heard from a few reliable sources of information that you and your forces crushed The Whisperers and now The Commonwealth are ... displeased with you. ❞
The Lady of The Enlightenment sat in her chair and crossed her legs, hands clasped neatly together with her back perfectly straight, as she held herself with all the composure of a queen. The dining room had just been revamped with the assistance of her hired workers from The Commonwealth. Clementine eyed the older man sitting before her as commanded. She would’ve normally had him meet her in her office but she wanted to loosen up the formalities a tad. Red, orange, gold and white candles lit all across the table, where a deer’s skull sat in the center, and her great tigress, Rani, lay at her feet, snoozing away. Besides, her mother always taught her to treat guests with the utmost respect and hospitality and the man must be hungry from his travels.
❝ I must admit, my people aren’t too fond of you, let alone most outsiders. They have had crushing losses over the past decade and very recently, we’ve just barely managed to get out of a war. You’re a long way from Alexandria and no man, especially not a supposed great, noble leader like yourself comes alone unless he is truly desperate. So, tell me, Rick Grimes .. what brings you here to The Enlightenment? ❞
A loooooong overdue starter for @nebraskaseemsnice !!
#nebraskaseemsnice#v; I AM THE FIRE. ( POST-THE FINAL SEASON. )#i hope you don't mind !! i remembered you liked a starter call a while back and im just like oH SHIT CLEM HAS TO MEET RICK GRIMES

This is my OC Rani the elephant, from my other show idea called Travellers of Shola Jungle. Its basically one of those stories about cute animals getting into harrowing situations. Rani is a playful young elephant, who is notorious in her herd because of her tricks, she's never mean-spirited in her jokes but she struggles to take things seriously, however her world is turned upside down when her mother ( Buddihimatta) is killed in a great fire, so she and a few other baby animals (who I'll make drawings of a bit later) must go on a journey to a new home called Shola Jungle to reunite with their families. On their way they are perused by a Tigress who has very specific reasons for wanting Rani dead, that I will also go into later. Let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: Sitah Lost her Tiger
Sitah had lost all of her tiger cubs. One could be excused, two could be explained, but they were right behind her, she could swear to you and she had lost all of them.
That day was no different. Like every other day, they had crossed the bridge over the River, walked through the blossoms near Ilavarronta. Ilavarronta, the land of the ripe guavas. Ripe guavas hmm, yummy, but way too ripe! Sitah liked them when they were pink, right in between too raw and too ripe. It was only when she reached Ajji’s kitchen did realise that all her cubs were gone.
——————————————————————————————————————————
Sitah was worried sick. She’d never been that careless before. How could she explain this to Ajji, her very very strict grandmother? What would she tell Rani the tigress when she came to pick her cubs up?
She had been babysitting the cubs ever since they were old enough to walk. Sometimes, she would take them for a dip in the pond by the lemon trees that were near the Ashoka trees. Sometimes, they would play in the clearing by the very Big Banyan Tree. Sometimes, they went chasing insects and bugs in the shrubs. They played hide and seek all the time but never before had she managed to lose them this badly.
That afternoon, she had been angry with Ajji. Ajji had told her she was not to take the cubs into the village. Ever. And when she got so angrym she would usually cry. It was involuntary, and she hated it but she would cry and cry and cry till her head hurt. Her voice would turn into a squeak and she found herself unable to argue with her grandmother.
Sitah herself was allowed to go to the village from time to time, though, she was never allowed to go on a Sunday. It was an hour’s walk from Ajji’s house. She didn’t have any friends in the village and Girija Ajji was to blame for it. She knew it was because she was never allowed to stay there long enough.
The only people she knew were Kamalamma, her grandmother’s friend who ran the tea shop. Sitah would bring Kamalamma the herbs and instructions from her grandmother, and the tough old lady, would fuss about it without fail. Atleast, Sitah was allowed to sip on tea through the ordeal of doing her grandma’s groceries.
Sitah’s only friend, or perhaps, the closest she had to a friend was Kamalamma’s husband Gopala who discussed the matters of the village with her as she sipped on sugary tea. She felt very important when he spoke to her like that.
Gopala and Kamalamma had a grandson who studied in a place very very far from Silsi. He lived there with his parents. Gopala promised Sitah the most wonderful set of colours when his grandson came to visit them.
The children of the village were not very nice to Sitah. They would pull her hair and call her names but she knew they were scared of her. They ran away the minute she turned around. She knew she could make friends if only she could take her cubs with her. They would see how much fun she was.
But Ajji had put her foot down that morning. She had refused to let Sitah take the cubs with her. Ajji was odd like that. She usually let Sitah do as she pleased in the forest but never in the village. “You are too young. You don’t know these things. Do as I say,” she would say.
Sitah had to point out every time that she was in fact ten years old and she could swim across the River Reshma on her own. But there was no convincing Ajji.
That afternoon, she took the cubs to the clearing by the Very Big Banyan Tree. She wasn’t in any mood to play with them. Instead, she wept under a tree. She wept in uncontrollable sobs because she would grow old like her Ajji and she wouldn’t have anyone to talk to. At least, Ajji had Kamalamma. After a while, she rounded up the cubs to go home and they were there. Somewhere along the way they had slipped away, and, in her sorrow, she hadn’t noticed.
Oh what was she to do? How could she tell them she lost five tiger cubs? The jungle was a very big place and her cubs very small.
She dashed back to the clearing as soon as she could. Nothing there. She wished Koro the dog was there, but he had gone to his village to visit his pups. She told asked every animal she meet on her way – nobody had seen the cubs.
She ran and ran looking everywhere. She ran till the sun set and she knew she had to go home. But how could she face her Ajji?
She began to cry. Sobbing, weeping and puffing – she sat down and had another good cry.
Tired from the running and crying, Sitah dozed off after a few more silent sobs.
——————————————————————————————————————————
Girija Ajji was livid. Sitah had taken the cubs to the village. How many times had she asked her not to do so?
Perhaps, she had been too harsh on the child. She knew a girl her age wanted nothing more than friends, but how do you explain to her that she couldn’t have them because she was the bastard child of the village traitor?
But to go into the village with animals, they would brand her to be devil’s child. How could she explain this to Rani the tigress?
Stupid child.
She rushed to the village at once. Villagers turned the other way when she tried to ask them. Some went into their houses and bolted their doors.
Kamalamma was surprised, “What business brings you here?”, she asked.
“Sitah! Have you seen her?’
Kamalamma got up at once – “I’ll go ask my husband.” If Girija had stepped out of the jungle, something was definitely wrong.
“Oi!”she shouted into the shop, “Have you seen little Sitah today?”
Gopala abandoned the boiling sugar tea at once and stepped out wiping his forehead, “No, I haven’t. What is the matter?”
Girija Ajji shook her head and took off at once, mumbling a few words of thanks. “Tell me if you see her, “she said walking away.
“Tell me if you need help, I’ll have my boys ready, “Gopala shouted behind her. By the Girija Ajji was thinking - if there were tiger cubs in the village, there would definitely be noise.
Girija Ajji came home at sunset to find the cubs playing outside her kitchen. They were trying to get to the food. “Where is Sitah?” she asked them.
In her worry, she forgot tiger cubs spoke with a babble she didn’t understand.
What if Sitah had run away from home? The jungle was a big place, and her little Sitah so small.
O, stupid child.
Sitah woke up in her bed, still smelling vaguely of damp earth and dry grass. Her head hurt from all the crying. The first thing on her mind were the cubs she lost. She couldn’t help the sob that came out.
“Now now child, don’t cry first thing in the morning,”Ajji came into her room, “Go brush your teeth.”
“I’m so sorry Ajji. I was really taking care of them. I don’t know where I lost –“
“Brush your teeth and eat your breakfast, we will talk after that, “came the reply.
Breakfast was excruciatingly painful. She wanted to cry every time she swallowed her food. “Is Rani very mad at me?”
“No. The cubs went home last nig-“ Sitah knocked her breakfast over and flung into her grandmother’s arms.
Her grandmother fought a smile as she said, “Eat your breakfast, we still have to talk.”

Rani
Every day, Carricado purchases a quarter of beef from the local butcher and returns home with his wife before sunset, foreshadowing the unveiling of his wife’s nightly transformations into a tiger in Carlos Peralta’s “Rani.” One day, Peralta, the narrator, notices that the butcher, Don Pedro, is carrying a quarter of beef through town and wonders who it could be for. When Peralta realizes that it’s for a childless couple, he can’t imagine how they consume it all. Peralta is surprised to discover that his friend Carricado purchases the meat and is invited to his house to catch up. When he arrives, Peralta meets Carricado’s beautiful wife Rani, who moves with a “feline grace,” (Peralta 211). He’s fascinated by her and surprised when Carricado insists that she take a bath. After a few moments, Peralta hears a purring he cannot ignore. Despite his friend’s insistence that it’s nothing, he goes to investigate and finds that Rani has turned into a tigress. As Carricado explains the transformation, Rani escapes. Alarmed, Carricado comforts Peralta and says he will take Rani to a magician. Peralta moves away and notices Carricado after several months—he is walking a large dog, Rani.

Senju left us as soon as we arrived in Tokyo and thanks god because her flirt was getting annoying. I used Vee's phone to call Sanzu and he was supposed to arrive soon.
Now the two of us were waiting in front of Tokyo Station.
'Did you like our trip to Osaka baby?'
You didn't laugh but I chucked.
'Sorry sorry'
'Mikey!'
Turning my head I was met with Sanzu's car, and himself.
'Sanzu, what's up?'
'You look like shit'
'So do you'
Grinning he popped a pill while opening his door and took the bags Vee and I were holding.
'So, what happened?'
'The Sicilian mafia tested Bonten. They're probably going to cancel their contract with the Yamaguchi-gumi. I think that I acted as they wanted me to so don't be surprised if they contact us at some point'
'Understood. Now I need to know how the hell you got all these injuries? Some of them look serious'
'Vee took care of them.'
'So you were asleep the whole night?'
Not really but I guess I had to save Vee's ass.
'Yes. As I said before, got shot twice and had to jump from the first floor. Got scratches here and there. Nothing too dramatic. Got stitched up by Akashis's sister.'
'Akashi's sister?? Wait that don't fucking make sense?'
Noticing that Sanzu was going to change the trajectory to go my place I turned to you while stroking your thigh.
'You wanna see Natalie for a while?'
'Yes please! If it's possible ?'
Smiling a bit I nodded.
'Go to your place then Sanzu. How did it go?'
Erupting in a loud laughter he shrugged.
'If only you had a look at my back, man your friend is a tigress!'
'Huh? You fucked?'
I was acting like I was shocked but Vee and I almost done it too.
'Of course we did. Now the Yamaguchi-gumi is still around, no surprise. Speaking of which, Ranis waiting for you tonight.'
'Good. Nothing else?'
'Nothing else.'
After driving few minutes we eventually arrived at Sanzu's apartment. He was living at the top floor of a luxurious building with a 360° view on Tokyo.
-Mikey
These posts are a bit slow yeah but I want fluff rn lmao so be prepared for that and sorry for the time taken, I finally arrived!
sanzu pretending like senju isn’t his sister too is KILLING ME.
Walking up to Sanzu’s apartment, I masked my excitement through my actions, allowing Mikey to use me as a crutch as we navigated through the large building. The lavish material made me scoff. So much for being inconspicuous, Sanzu.
At the front door, I don’t bother to hide it any longer. I missed Nat and I wanted to see her. Sanzu opens the door and I scurry in, following the sound of Nat’s voice asking if that was him at the door. Banking a corner that leads into the kitchen, I’m immediately met with her face. Natalie’s eating wings over the countertop, and me jumping on her nearly makes her choke on a bone.
Christ, Vee! At least let me put it down first! she yells over my laughter as I rock us from side to side in the embrace. Where have you been anyway?
I pull away from her, anchored to her shoulders by my hands. We were in Osaka that entire time. Sanzu didn’t tell you?
No, he didn’t. Sanzu’s timing is awful. He enters the room just as she says it, catching her fiery glare head on.
Don’t blame me. That was the boss’ orders. He points to Mikey who’s coming in behind him.
Damn. Natalie whistles lowly. You look like shit, Sano Manjiro.
Always a pleasure to see you again, Natalie, Mikey retorts, words laced in poisonous sarcasm.
Now, back to you. Natalie wraps an arm around my shoulder, tugs me closer into her side. How was Osaka? Did you see any sights? Shop? Get some new dick?
She winks at Mikey when she says new and I chance a glance at him. There’s not a trace of a smile on his face. I’m kidding! Geez, lighten up every once in a while! I see Vee’s hickeys, Mikey. I know you’ve marked your territory.
I slap a hand to my neck, suddenly embarrassed. I didn’t think to cover them at all. Sanzu laughs and through the corner of my eye I can even see Mikey fighting a smile at my mortified expression. Dumb asses.
Tell me all about it, Natalie orders, then turns to the boys as if they were an afterthought she suddenly returned to. You two do whatever it is crime bosses do. The girls want to gossip.
I almost think they wouldn’t listen, put a gun to Natalie’s head for talking to them so lightly, but Sanzu just shrugs and walks out of the room, Mikey taking his leave shortly after but after confirming with me through his eyes that I’d be okay. Natalie and I move over to the couch, where I tell her all about the trip to Osaka in detail, making sure to omit everything… explicit Mikey and I did in the meantime.
I would’ve spit on her, Natalie rants. She’s talking about Senju, immediately not taking a liking to her from my description. Thirsty bitch. Did she not see you were there?
She thought I was a whore.
From what you’ve told me, the only whore around during that trip was her. She flicks my neck right on the spot where Mikey’s mark lay. And besides, he practically spelt it out that he’s with you when you two fucked. S’her fault she wanted to be dense.
We didn’t fuck, Nat.
Then what the hell did you two do? He surely left the impression that you two had done at least that with these marks.
Um he— I never liked talking about things I did with my partners in bed. I felt like it was private, but when you had friend like Natalie, what was privacy?
He ate your pussy? she asks candidly.
Nat! I groan, smacking her arm.
Hey if it makes you feel any better, Sanzu and I fuck. All the time. It’s practically the only thing we do when I’m not kicking his ass in shogi or we aren’t getting high.
Thanks for the mental picture.
Any time! Natalie grins and I almost feel… at home. Like I’d just look past her shoulder and Ang and Tati would be right there laughing with us. The reality is painful. The same thing must’ve struck Natalie because she’s immediately on her feet, bringing her hands together in a loud clap. Okay. It just got majorly sad in here. You know what would make this night better? Wine. Lots and lots of wine. I try shaking my head, remind Natalie that her being drunk is not so much a solution to our current problem, but could well possibly be a creation to another one. But she’s not listening. Come on! I’ll go grab the glasses and you can model all the shit you bought for me.
I hope Mikey’s injuries start acting up. Give us an excuse to get out of here.

Wild World by Deepak Arora I picked up this book because of its quirky cover. I love reading and watching jungle book, and this book definitely reminds me of the adventures Bagira & Mougli had. Wild World is all about the adventures of Bali, the langur and Bhola, the bear. Bali and Bhola return to jungle after their own unpleasant experiences in the city. But when Bali returns to the jungle, he saves Raja, the tiger and becomes a hero. This leads to an exciting adventure where Bali has to go back to city and save Rani, the tigress. Bali asks Bhola to come along. Will they able to save Rani? To know the answer you will have to read the book😉 The book is fantastic, narrations are gripping and the language is very simple. There is humour, adventure, love and a little bit of mystery too. The book is not only entertaining but also addresses a very important issue of human atrocities towards animals. Does not treating animals well, using them as slaves, caging them in zoos for entertainment, make us HUMAN? The author has brilliantly portrayed the lives of animals and what they go through because of us. Definitely a must read! Wild World: The Adventures of Bali and Bhola
Wild World: The Adventures of Bali and Bhola by Deepak Arora
Bali, the langur, decides to move back into the Wild World after getting fed up of chasing monkeys in the city. Bhola, the bear, escapes to the jungle from the brutalities of his human owner to lead a happy and satiated life. On the night of Bali’s welcome party, Bali saves Raja, the tiger, from the bullets of a poacher. The other animals are impressed and request him to go back to the city and help Rani, the tigress, to escape from the City Zoo. Wild World is a whacky and hilarious tale of a runaway langur and an ever hungry bear who join paws to save the jungle from becoming a human colony.
