Okay...I've been asked about this movie before. A movie Doris said I wasn't allowed to watch. I thought WHY THE HELL NOT! I've seen the most brutal stuff in anime. What could be so bad that this was a no? All she told me was she's seen it once. She had known some toons that appear and felt like she had to, but thought it's best to just leave that in the past.

So obviously, I had to see this. (Don't watch it? How are you going to stop me? streaming exists!)

Late at night, I found it on PlutoTV. I could've watched it when she was out or just in my room, but after all the don't watch talk I wanted to see this in the living room and still treat this like a weird secret. close the blinds, you can't stop me! but no one must know!

At first, It looked like a completely different film from what I expected. Like post war stuff, soldier coming home. Then Brad Pitt's mom is thrown off a motorcycle and shit got....well it GOT!

First off, they call toons doodles. That's cute. I'm forever connected to this. Second, GOOD GOD THIS MOVIE IS HORNY! Like I've seen movies with sex in it. I watched Poor Things. It's whatever. But this! I was alone in the room and felt so uncomfortable! This thing just dry humps your eyes until the end. And Cool world is like going to the seediest alleys in South LA at 1 am, but on like AAAAAALLLLL the drugs.

I'd get into the story, but they were just making up this shit as it went on. "Don't you know that when a noid is kiled by a doodle in the real world they become a noid in cool world!?" What is that?!?! I guess fuck me for asking questions!

BUT! You want to know the weirdest part! Your girl was watching this movie. Your girl who loves horror, animated and live action. I got through this and for whatever reason...I felt scared of this film and disturbed. the whole thing made me feel so uneasy with the look of Cool World. Not the buildings with eyes and teeth, that was scary but like fun scary. I'm talking about when they had rooms with flat board standups, and toons and things floating around, vanishing for no reason. That look actually had me shrinking back into the couch. It was uncanny. Toon Uncanny!

And then the ink pen, the ending with thing flipping from human to toon, a whole wacky world ending thing. I was disturbed, almost sad. WHY WAS I SAD!!??!!? not for any character but like for existence I guess?

This movie was a weird watch and I don't think I can do it again. In the morning I couldn't even keep it a secret. I was still on the couch, looking confused. Doris found me sighed and said "You watched it."

I needed a day outside after that. I found out later that it was first meant to be a horror film. If what I watched wasn't a horror film, how disturbing was it originally going to be?
