That moment when you get flashbanged by youtube recs about an old cartoon you watched and a pit of childhood memories flood into place and that flood posseses you to binge the entirety of said cartoon in two days

Anyway, show sucks lmao. The english dub is horrendous. Absolutely loved every single second of watch time. I had to draw the ✨them✨

Hear me out: AU for the cartoon where instead of Misha and Gabe, we get Raf/Urie and Sulfus/Kabale as the appropriate species “distraction relationships”.

Gabe/Raf and Misha/Sulfus suck and that was intentional.

They were designed to suck because that lowers our standards for what a better relationship has to look like.

They suck so that Ralfus only has to be the lesser of two evils to get the audience to root for it.

But if we instead had two okay ships like Urie/Raf and Kabale/Sulfus, Ralfus would have a higher bar to clear and would need to prove that itself as the better endgame ship. It would need to be good, not just less shit.

Raf and Sulfus would also need to get out of relationships where the blame for the relationship not working out can’t be all pinned on one person. Misha and Gabe are automatically the ones who have to take responsibility because they're older. Creepy unprofessional levels of older.

Urie and Kabale wouldn’t be introduced out of nowhere, nor would they be in a predatory position of power over their love intrests. They’d be decent partners who Raf and Sulfus have a real emotional connection with. Partners who might be better for Raf and Sulfus than Raf and Sulfus are for each other and who some of the audience could root for.

Not only that, but Gabe and Misha are fridged and forgotten once they've served their story purpose. Kabale and Urie would stick around, because main cast characters don't vanish just because the main part of their romantic subplot ended. That could introduce some interesting character dynamics. 

Amicable exes? 

“I’m happy with you, but wish I could have been with someone else”? 

“I love you but not the way you want me to?”

Friends to lovers back to friends?

There had to be a better way to execute that plot.

If your ship needs to contrasted with Gabe/Raf and Misha/Sulfus to look good, that is not a good look.

Tohmu Ralfu, Warrior Of Light

So this is the first of the Content of the WoL Jade AU that I’ve been thinking of doing for a while now.
