Lets stop making brown characters caricatures vs villains. The Sharmas are a successful business orientated family with strong values and good hearts. You do not need to have the happy go lucky crazy Rishi Sharma vs the evil money laundering Rakesh Kotecha. One perfectly assimilating clown and one criminal isolated villain. It's a damaging upsetting depiction of my community.

I knew that it’d be a bad episode when I saw that name - this is the man who continues to push the White (literally) saviour/victim complex - but he’s outdone himself.

Remember how I had hoped that there’d be an arc that brought to light the fact that marijuana is different the most other drugs to further remove the stigma (back when we thought that’s what Aaron was smoking in prison)?

Remember how Priya and Leyla are longtime best friends?

Remember how Leyla and Pete are “cute” together and have basically never fought before?

Remember how Priya was just about to steal from the company that she runs, and owns, with her father and one of her brothers to protect her husband?

Remember how they were going to stop the misogynistic practice of having a woman choose to cheat, and have her be immediately guilted, whilst the man gets a free pass or was not in a position to consent at the time of the indiscretion?

Remember how Lachlan’s a convicted sexual offender who pretended to hear voices as just one of his creep attempts to seduce Belle, a diagnosed schizophrenic, and how they’ve made her chase him around?

Remember how Ronnie knows about Lachlan’s past and how his current best friend is Belle’s mother?

Post Ep Ponderings June 14

So how much fun was watching everyone laugh at Rakesh? I saw a rumour today that he's actually left the show. My first thought? Maybe now I will start to like the Sharma clan more. This might be a stretch, but I often like Priya, and watching Jai cut into him was a lot of fun. Even Larry and Ronnie laughing at him. Oh man that was a good time! I'm not sure what I think of Lachlan and Chrissie turning in Priya. On one hand, it seems a bit like the usual shittiness of the Whites, but then I thought, what if that happened to a character I like? I think maybe then I'd be all for Priya getting arrested for letting Rakesh go. I hope that Paddy and Marlon can trust Rhona soon, though I suspect that won't happen until they find out what all really happened. I'm also suspecting that won't happen until Pierce comes back. Back to Lachlan, anyone else think Rakesh did him a favour by his presence making the hooker leave? Didn't really do Belle any favours as I'm sure Lachlan losing his V-card to a lady of the night while dating her might end that relationship, but still. I also got a distinct impression that the writers had just seen Risky Business. Lachlan is about as creepy as Tom Cruise. His cellmate friend (Jerry?) is the friend that sends over the first hooker and Rakesh is Joe Pants. Actually, I think that would be a really fun episode. Didn't I call Diane and Doug needing separate vacations?? I go away without my bf regularly and it is not a problem. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.
