Disney Channel Sets Rebrand With New Logo And Graphics, Slated To Debut September 30.

Disney Channel has just updated their YouTube Channel profile picture and banner, ahead of the channel's upcoming rebrand which is expected to launch on September 30th.

The rebrand showcases new graphics alongside a new logo that drops the Mickey Mouse ears that where around for almost 10 years.

Like the Disney Jr. rebranding from earlier this year, they seem to be swapping out the Mickey ears/head element of the logo design and having a deeper focus on the Disney logo itself. Disney Channel, however, also seems to be retaining a Mickey head element that will be used in the new graphics and design of the rebrand, though it's too early to say given the regular assets have yet to play into the equation ---- @disneyschedules

What are your thoughts that The Book of Bill has references to Amphibia, The Owl House, Star Vs The Forces Of Evil, Wander Over Yonder but not Big City Greens despite that show being a Gravity Falls alumni show?

Personally it adds to my belief that Big City Greens is more of a Harvey Beaks/C.H. Greenblatt alumni driven series than a Alex Hirsch alumni series specially with the Big City Greens crew members taking the torch of the Gravity Falls crew for future Disney series.

Another proof for me is this cool merchandise crossover collaboration with Alex Hirsch, Dana Terrace and Matt Braly with Gravity Falls, Amphibia and The Owl House considered as "the big three"

“Football Camp” was written by Carson Montgomery, Steve Wolfhard, and Raj Brueggemann! They’re all wicked funny and yes, it was the first episode of BCG that Raj storyboarded/wrote! Raj is hilarious!! More episodes from all three of these guys are comin down the pike!

Disney Channel Getting Rebranded With New Logo?, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Poster Semi-Confirms It

It seems that after 10 years Disney Channel is getting rebranded alongside a potential new logo, speculation on a possible rebrand came at D23 Expo with a new pin showcasing the logo mixing the old 2000s logo with the current 2019 logo.

Recently Disney Branded Television has unveiled the premiere date of the Discom "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" slated for a October 29 premiere on Disney Channel however the poster includes a brand new logo

The logo is more simplified as the Mickey Mouse ears on the "I" are removed, it seems that like the Disney Junior rebrand we might have two versions of the new logo, the new logo is most likely going to be like what we saw with the Disney Channel pin back at D23.

What was your first reaction when you found out that Big City Greens/Harvey Beaks/Jellystone! alumnis and creators of those shows will lead the Disney Channel Animation lineup after 10 years of serialized shows by Gravity Falls alumnis?

When i knew about those shows on development on early 2021 and my reaction was these.

Super happy for @chgreenblatt and his Harvey Beaks alumnis to pave the way of Disney TVA at Disney Channel on the 2020s as a rare case of animation snowball effect after HB was canceled at Nickelodeon.

The guy and his crew deserved it and i hope his and their alumnis shows from HB/BCG & JS! people get a greenlight PR this year and that one of them becomes the 100-Disney TVA show to air on 2024 as part of their 40 Anniversary.

The Houghton brothers have been amazing mentors for me. Even as I pitched my own show and started developing it and started producing it, they’ve always been there if I need a listening ear or anything. While I was working on their show it was very interesting. Because they have a very specific brand of humor. So it was interesting for me to be able to hone my own humor based off of what they thought was funny. And we worked very closely together because as a director, it’s literally just like sometimes the three of us in the room throwing ideas around and rewriting things and reshaping scenes. So I definitely got a sense of what their flavor is. --- Kline

Harvey Beaks premiered 9 years ago on Nickelodeon, the show trained the next generation of Disney storytellers with The Houghton Brothers & Jeff Trammell with "Big City Greens" at Disney Channel and "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" at Marvel Studios.

Other Harvey crew developing their own shows at Disney Television Animation are MONICA RAY, HANNAH AYOUBI & RAJ BRUEGGEMANN. ICYMI Since 2021, Monica Ray has been trying to get the rights back from Magic Children Doing Things from Nick to pitch it to other networks including Disney. In 2023 Ayoubi mentioned that Disney is interested on Monsters Abroad but couldn't set a buy back due the cost cutting from Bob Iger at The Walt Disney Company

Chris Houghton and Shane Houghton Extended Overall Development Deal With Disney Television Animation, Ink Overall Development Deal With 20th Television Animation And Disney Branded Television In Multi-Year Agreement With Disney.

Chris Houghton and Shane Houghton, creators of “Big City Greens,” have struck a wide-ranging deal with Disney Branded Television and Disney Television Studios, it was announced today by Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television, during the 2024 Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, California. 

Under the deal The Houghton Brothers will also have full access to legacy and modern Disney IP to develop potential new animated series for Disney Channel and Disney+ based on heritage and modern Disney IP

“Big City Greens,” which debuted in June 2018, has been making kids laugh for four seasons and nearly 100 episodes. It was the No. 2 most-watched kids animated series of 2023, with more than 2 billion hours watched across linear and streaming since it debuted in 2018. The “Big City Greens” franchise will soon expand with a movie, set to premiere this summer. Additionally, “Big City Greens” recently collaborated with ESPN for the “NHL Big City Greens Classic” — a live, animated NHL game telecast, powered by volumetric and motion capture technologies — which is returning for a second iteration this year. The franchise's content also extends into many of Disney Television Animation's hit animated short-form series, including “How NOT to Draw,” “Chibi Tiny Tales”, "Theme Song Takeover" and “Broken Karaoke.”

Under this multiyear producing deal, the Houghtons will produce animated series,films and speciales with Disney Television Animation studio while also providing opportunities to develop live-action projects within Disney Branded Television across linear and streaming platforms like It's A Laugh Productions. Additionally, the deal includes development opportunities for adult animation projects with 20th Television Animation for ABC Network, FX Networks, Freeform and Hulu.

The Houghton Brothers and Big City Greens have trained the next generation of storytellers at Disney Television Animation with upcoming shows on development like chicano-lead comedy Primos created by Natasha Kline slated for a summer release on Disney Channel, other creators with shows in development include Monica Ray with an original show and potential buyout of Magic Children Doing Things, Hannah Ayoubi with a original show and a potential buyout of Monsters Abroad, both projects originally with pilots at Nickelodeon (Both pilots buyouts have been on freeze at Disney Legal department due Bob Iger's cost cutting and content overhaul at Disney), Raj Brueggemann and Amy Hudkins are also other Big City Greens artists and alumnis with a chance to get their own animated series for Disney Channel.

The brothers also collaborated on “Harvey Beaks,” with Chris serving as a storyboard director and Shane as a staff writer, "Harvey Beaks" creator C.H. Greenblatt has been developing a Disney Channel animated series since 2023.
