In the past week or two an attempt to recommend Rogue Trader to friends now that I am truly in a dire place with it resulted in convincing them all to never, ever touch it... I need Owlcat to release a game I don't feel obligated to include a list of disclaimers with when trying to recommend </3 It's always like "Kingmaker is one of my FAVORITE GAMES and the writing is GOOD AND FUN it has some of my ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND PLOTS and the gameplay is SO BAD MOST OF THE TIME and it has SO MUCH JANK but it's worth it if you have DOZENS OF HOURS OF PATIENCE" or "Wrath has combat and characters MANY PEOPLE LIKE and is VERY CINEMATIC and SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVES QOL but the gameplay MIGHT PISS YOU OFF and you SHOULD DO PRE READING ON SYSTEMS AND ROUTES and the alignment dialogue is NOT GOOD somehow worse than Kingmaker's" or "Rogue Trader is a GREAT GAME with INTERESTING CHARACTERS and REALLY FUN GAMEPLAY except that the gameplay of the first fifteen hours is INTOLERABLY BAD AND BORING and the exposition for newcomers to setting lore is TERRIBLE also the scope of human atrocity is OFF THE CHARTS if that's hard for you and there IS A TORTURE PIT"

Hearing about Rooser Teeth's demise... admittedly I havent kept up with a lot of their content ever since they fired Matt Bragg. But the fact remains that I was a part of that community for several long years.

I made fanart. I made friends. My god, I made friends! Some of the closest friends I have we bonded through the AH/RT community or some branch of it. My current DnD group that streams on twitch, we were all connected to the community at one point, one way or another.

I attended RTX several times, which I maintain was a wholly unique experience unlike any anime convention I've also attended. I had so much fun in that community. I know RT has and had some problematic elements but it was also such a... force. I dont regret joining it. It got me into let's plays and streaming, it brought us RWBY which I still love despite everything and numerous other entertaining shows, and more importantly it made me laugh and connected me with friends.

To see it all dissolve so suddenly is... grief inducing. My heart definitely mourns. I've never been in another fandom community like it, and I dont know if I will again.

And of course, I hope the employees and contract workers affected can get back on their feet quickly. I cant imagine their position. Like the rug has been pulled from under their feet, I'm sure.

1. Where are they from? What is their homeworld like? Do they miss it?

(I'm kind of iffy on this one, haven't really settled for her canon yet bc i need to read more) she's from a Hive World, though her experience was mostly shaped by growing up in a noble family as sort of a pampered socialite. She's not very bright so she didn't get pulled into the planning politics or the family business (sorry babe.... -2 intelligence) but she is very good with people so she went to parties etc. She has a love/hate relationship with her past. Part of her misses those days of ignorance and indulgence but most of her realizes how vapid she had been for so long. She is pretty lonely, though, being used to her family constantly being around her.

7. Was there a defining moment in their life that influenced their Conviction?

Def. Rykad Minoris and hearing everyone tell her that the safest/right choice was to fire upon it from space and, instead of following the advice of her retinue as she had mostly been doing up until that point (because she didn't know what she was doing, she'd just do whatever they suggested) stood up for herself and ordered the shuttles to be sent to the planet. She realized that she could do something and people would follow her orders. It kind of gave her a high too, saving people, which is why she started doing it more and more...to her detriment.

8. What was their Triumph? Do they take pride in it?

Apex of Brilliance (ironically?)! She stopped a feudal war through the power of fellowship. Albireo initially did take a lot of pride in this but after becoming Rogue Trader started to view it bitterly as she feels it was naivete to think that 'apex' mattered, especially since she never once considered what the lives of people 'beneath' her were like.
