The Chilliwack Poltergeist - Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada - 1951
An outbreak of poltergeist phenomena that occurred in the 1950s in Chilliwack, British Columbia, probably due to the human agency of a teenaged girl. The girl's aunt believed that racial prejudices were the cause. The residents of Chilliwack called whatever was causing the disturbances "The Thing."
Tumblr media
Anna Duryba
Anna Duryba was a Ukrainian immigrant who moved to Chilliwack from Saskatchewan in 1933. She worked as a domestic, saving her money until she could buy a 10-acre chicken ranch a mile out of town. She lived there in a four-room cottage. In October 1951, her 14-year-old niece, Kathleen, came to live with her. Several months later, poltergeist disturbances began. Objects flew about and damaged windows, and loud, violent hammering sounded throughout the cottage, as though someone were using a jackhammer. The noises seemed to emanate from the northeast corner of the house. No damage was ever visible, despite the terrible pounding sound.
Anna thought a local trickster was the cause, but soon felt that someone was deliberately trying to drive her off her property: Durybas brother, Alex, who lived nearby, believed that someone local who did not like Ukrainians was trying to force his sister out. On at least one occasion, a sheriff's deputy was called to investigate.
The deputy, A. J. Edwards, agreed with Alex, whereupon Alex armed himself with a shotgun and stationed himself at his sister's cottage. When the disturbances commenced, Alex fired off shots and shouted threats. Neighbors armed with shotguns stood watch as well.
The disturbances not only continued, but got worse. The hammering and banging occurred up to 30 times a night, even when the house was floodlit and under observance by neighbors, and also during the day. The noise raced about the cottage. Anna would run outside and try to catch the perpetrator, always to no avail.
Even more maddening, "The Thing" seemed to react to people. Once when the hammering began, Anna ran to a window and yelled, "Go ahead, do it again, you silly fool." The hammering moved to beneath the window. No one was outside. When Alex challenged "The Thing," it answered by shaking the cottage and windows.
Locals offered explanations. Maybe the noises were being caused by exceptionally dry ground beneath the cottage. Another explanation proposed was that an electrical problem of some sort was to blame.
Anna refused to leave. But niece Kathleen, whose health was poor and who suffered from "nerves," was showing strain. The Reverend W. T. Clarke recognized that Kathleen might be the focal point and persuaded Anna to send her away to Vancouver for a while. During the 10 days the girl was gone, the poltergeist disturbances stopped. They resumed upon her return.
Others wanted to investigate the link between the girl and the phenomena, but Anna and Alex refused to cooperate—or even to deal with anyone on the matter anymore. Their explanation was that everything was mysteriously caused by racial prejudice.
One person who was able to witness the disturbances before the Durybas ceased communicating was psychical researcher R. S. Lambert. He wrote that he heard the sounds on four occasions: rapid, violent rapping on the outer wall near a window, between 8 P.M. and midnight. The noises sounded like a pneumatic hammer and lasted for one to two minutes at a time. Anna and Kathleen were present on three of those occasions; Kathleen was asleep in her bedroom on the fourth. However, Lambert agreed with the Durybas that a hostile person was trying to drive Anna and Kathleen out.

Ep 282: The Elusive Force – A Powerful Polish Poltergeist Part 2
"Physics is the science of probabilities, whereas biology is the science of improbable phenomena. The living organism operates on the basis of reactions that are statistically improbable."  -- Nobel Prize winner Albert Szent-Gyorgyi as quoted in "The Elusive Force"
Description:
For part two of our examination of the elusive force that flowed through Joasia Gajeweski, we're fortunate and honored to present a conversation with three knowledgeable professionals familiar with the case. We first learned of this fantastic story and the book that documented it from a clinical therapist, author, parapsychologist, past show guest, and friend, Brandon Massullo. Brandon then offered to put us in touch with psychologist, researcher, and author James Houran, Ph.D., who studied the case extensively. And for the trifecta, another past guest and friend, Michael Kishbucher, connected us with Joel Stern. Joel was a staff translator and reviewer in the Office of Language Services at the U.S. State Department in Washington, DC, for 28 years. He translated The Elusive Force: A Remarkable Case of Poltergeist Activity and Psychokinetic Power into English and spent decades attempting to get the book published, which finally occurred in 2023. Joel also spent time with Joasia and her family during the process and has specific insights into the people and their circumstances. Join us tonight for a lively discussion from the viewpoint of parapsychology and human behavior when it collides with the paranormal, and the impossible becomes impossible to dismiss.

Found out the poltergeist at my house was my fault at age 26. HPS, Empath, with RSPK abilities. It took years to learn how to deal, control, and shield. My mom's mom also has the ability but it drove her slightly mad. The younger you find out the better.
10 Crystals For Empaths
Tumblr media
Crystals have been used for thousands of years to protect and enhance personal vitality. They have the ability to focus energy and generate minute electrical currents that interact with the currents in the human body and environment. Crystals are an amazing way to cleanse, amplify, and protect one’s energy.
As a highly sensitive empath, I absorb energy from everything. Not only am I affected by the emotions and attitudes of other people, but I’m extremely sensitive to things like geopathic stress and electromagnetic stress. This often leads to exhaustion, irritability, and overwhelm.
Geopathic stress: Stress created by electromagnetic radiation, ley lines, and underground water. It’s also present in “sick building syndrome”. Injurious to health, it can affect the immune system as well as the body’s innate psychic protection and may attract ghosts or hold impressions of previous events.
Electromagnetic stress: Disharmony caused by the subtle emanations of electrical, microwave, computer, phone and radio frequencies, as well as power lines.
The following list features 10 of my favorite crystals that have been the most beneficial in managing sensitivities and raising my vibration:
Labradorite
Known as one of the most protective stones, labradorite creates an interface around the aura that filters out energies that are not beneficial and enhances spiritual connection. It allows one to be aware of other’s feelings and emotions without being overwhelmed by them. Labradorite enhances psychic abilities, aligns physical and subtle bodies, and strengthens the aura.
Tip: If you’re prone to nightmares and restless sleep, try holding a labradorite palm stone at bedtime. I sleep with one every night and it has helped me immensely. Just remember to cleanse it in between uses!
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: rainbow moonstone, black moonstone, spectrolite
Celestine
Also known as celestite, this high vibrational stone links one to higher realms and stimulates spiritual insights. It facilitates inner peace, helps to disperse anxieties and calm the emotions while promoting clarity of mind. This beautiful crystal heals the aura, assists in conflict resolution, and helps maintain a harmonious atmosphere in times of stress.
Tip: Try meditating with one of these stones and record any insights you might have in a journal afterwards. I’ve been amazed at some of the profound breakthroughs I’ve had while spending time with this amazing crystal.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: blue lace agate, angelite, phantom quartz, apophyllite
Lithium Quartz
This variety of quartz is a natural antidepressant. Its powerful healing energies gently lift the conditions underlying the depression to the surface, neutralizing ancient anger and grief. It can reach back into past lives to dissolve the roots of emotional dis-ease that is pervading the present life. Lithium quartz is an excellent cleanser for the body’s energy centers and is extremely useful as a healer for plants and animals.
Tip: If feeling lethargic or low on energy, carry a small lithium quartz point with you in your pocket. Lithium quartz can function like an emotional battery for those that are sensitive to its vibration.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: quartz with hematite, elestial quartz, vanadinite, zeolite
Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline, also known as schorl; protects agains cell phones, electromagnetic smog, radiation, ill wishing, and negative energies of all kinds. Black tourmaline is the most effective block to psychic attack and is extremely efficient at absorbing negative energy. It helps one adopt a positive attitude regardless of the circumstances.
Tip: Black tourmaline is super effective as a gem elixir that can be added to cleansing sprays and used to purify the aura.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: shungite, black kyanite, jet, tourmalinated quartz
Rose Quartz
Known as the stone of unconditional love and forgiveness, gentle rose quartz opens the heart and transforms negative emotions into positive ones. It’s an excellent stone to use during crisis or trauma, as it quickly brings peace. It transmutes negative emotional conditioning and supports positive affirmations. It purifies and opens the heart at all levels and brings deep inner healing and self-love.
Tip: Wear a rose quartz pendant over your heart to promote self-love, tranquility, and emotional healing.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: rhodochrosite, pink danburite, rhodonite, pink petalite, pink kunzite
Fluorite
A strongly protective stone, especially against electromagnetic and geopathic pollution, as well as psychic attack. Fluorite stabilizes energy and shuts off mental manipulation. This stone cleanses and stabilizes the aura. Fluorite grounds and integrates spiritual energies and assists in dissolving illusions and negative mental patterning. Emotionally, fluorite has a grounding effect.
Tip: Place a piece of fluorite on a computer or between yourself and the source of electromagnetic fog.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: amazonite, green aventurine, bloodstone
Smoky Quartz
Smoky quartz is one of the most efficient grounding and anchoring stones. It helps alleviate fears, soothes an active mind, and promotes emotional calmness. This protective stone gently neutralizes negative vibrations, absorbs electromagnetic smog, and blocks geopathic stress. Smoky quartz is a powerful antidote to stress and assists in tolerating difficult times while bringing in positive energy.
Tip: To dispel stress, place a stone in each hand and sit quietly for a few moments. Cleanse the stones thoroughly between uses.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: hematite, smoky elestial quartz, apache tear obsidian
Amethyst
Amethyst is an extremely powerful and protective stone with a high vibration. It guards against psychic attack, transmuting energy into love. A natural tranquilizer, amethyst blocks against geopathic stress and negative environmental energies. Its serenity enhances higher states of consciousness. Amethyst has strong healing and cleansing powers, and enhances spiritual awareness.
Tip: Place a cleansed amethyst point towards you to draw in positive energy, and point one away from you to dispel negative energy.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: ametrine, lepidolite, rutilated quartz, lilac kunzite, purple fluorite
Selenite
Selenite is a high vibrational stone that is said to occupy the space between light and matter. It’s an excellent crystal for repairing and re-energizing the aura. Selenite is a calming stone that instils deep peace and is excellent for spiritual work and meditation. Selenite does not allow outside influences to penetrate. A large piece within the house promotes a peaceful atmosphere.
Tip: Place other crystals, talismans, and pendants on a piece of selenite overnight for cleansing.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: dessert rose selenite, peach moonstone, himalayan rock salt
Carnelian
An excellent stone for grounding one in present reality, carnelian is one of the oldest known healing stones. It energizes and restores vitality to the immune system. Carnelian promotes positive life choices and immense motivation, and assists one in trusting perceptions. This is a useful stone for overcoming negative emotional or mental conditioning. It calms anger and assists in banishing emotional negativity, while sharpening concentration. Mentally, carnelian improves analytic abilities and clarifies perception.
Tip: Carnelian placed near the front door of a home invokes protection and invites abundance.
Stones with similar vibrational qualities: citrine, tigers eye, golden calcite, orange-brown selenite, amber
I hope you find these crystals as beneficial as I do. Enjoy!

Overview: An Involuntary Movement
Tumblr media
An Involuntary Movement, better known as AIM (į„Ąč‡ŠčĶš Mujikaku (AIM)?, lit. "No Awareness"), is a term used to refer to the phenomena where an esper involuntarily emits an invisible energy field from their body, known as an AIM Diffusion Field (AIMæ‹Ąæ•Ģ力å ī AIM Kakusan Rikiba?, Yen Press: Involuntary Diffusion Field).
Closely connected to the Personal Reality that is the source of their ability, it is an esper's unconscious interference with reality. Differing between espers and usually having microscopic effects, it can only detected through the use of machines or specialized espers.
Principles
Tumblr media
AIM is a weak energy that is unconsciously emitted by espers. Similar to how living beings radiate body heat, this energy emanates from the esper's body into their surroundings, forming what is known as an AIM diffusion field. These fields produce tiny effects on the regions they cover.
The form taken by an AIM diffusion field and the effects it creates will differ based on the ability of the esper producing it. For example, pyrokinesists produce heat, telekinesists exert pressure, electromasters release electromagnetic fields, etc. The attraction of vampires by Deep Blood is also a likely example of this phenomena.
When the AIM diffusion fields of espers with the same type of ability overlap, an AIM diffusion field resonance can occur, which augments the effects they have on the surrounding area.
Tumblr media
As the effects of the AIM diffusion fields are usually microscopic in scale, AIM cannot be detected by the five conventional senses. It can only be detected through the use of machines, precision measuring devices or by certain espers, either through resonance or specific abilities. However in some cases under normal circumstances, certain secondary effects resulting from the effects of the AIM diffusion fields on their surroundings can be observed. An example of this would be wind turbines turning due to the electromagnetic fields released by Misaka Mikoto.
There are a number of espers who have abilities which allow them to sense and even manipulate AIM. One notable esper of this kind is Takitsubo Rikou, whose ability AIM Stalker allows her to detect and track the AIM of espers whose AIM diffusion fields she has memorized. She also has the potential to be able to use an esper's AIM diffusion field to manipulate their ability and Personal Reality.
Due to their supernatural origin, the Imagine Breaker can nullify the parts of AIM diffusion fields it touches, and their effects with it. The effects of the Imagine Breaker on the AIM diffusion fields can be used as a way to monitor its power.
Relation to Personal Reality
Personal Realities are irreconcilably connected to AIM, as Personal Realities are the source of esper abilities and all phenomena manifested by espers in the real world. Since an AIM diffusion field is unique to the esper emitting it, it can be assumed that this is due to the esper's Personal Reality.
In cases of RSPK Syndrome, an esper becomes stressed or traumatized to the point of being unable to view reality properly and loses control over their Personal Reality, which then affects the esper's surroundings through their AIM diffusion field in a manner similar to that of a poltergeist (hence the alternative term used to refer to the condition). Additionally, interference to AIM diffusion fields can lead to a simultaneous outbreak of RSPK Syndrome.
The connection between Personal Reality and AIM diffusion fields can be exploited in several ways. Analysis of a person's AIM diffusion field can be used to figure out the nature of their Personal Reality and in turn, investigate their personality and behavioral traits. It is also possible to influence a person's Personal Reality via interference to their AIM diffusion field, and at a certain level, it is apparently possible to modify a Personal Reality through it.
Following on from this, it would be apt to refer to AIM diffusion fields as a conduit through which an esper's Personal Reality affects the real world and manifests their abilities.
Relation to Magic
By themselves, AIM diffusion fields are not usually harmful to magicians. Despite the massive aggregation of AIM diffusion fields in Academy City, magicians are not harmed when they enter the city or use magic within it. Even if they are a hybrid, the presence of AIM by itself will not harm them. However if an esper uses magic (or a magician somehow uses an esper ability), they would suffer injury due to the fact that magic and esper abilities operate through different formats and conflicting laws, leading to a damaging rejection reaction.
When a major AIM diffusion field aggregation such as the Imaginary Number District is 'brought out' into the world, bringing the different laws along with it and disrupting the existing laws, it produces an effect similar to the aforementioned rejection reaction within the region it covers. A pressure is exerted which affects all magicians and magical items within that region. Magicians within lose control of their magic, leading self-destruction, and magic-based objects and structures would similarly collapse. The Imaginary Number District was developed in order to bring about this phenomena, and did so with the manifestation of Fuse Kazakiri.
Research and Technology
Tumblr media
As AIM is deeply connected to esper abilities and Personal Reality, there are many scientists and researchers, such as Kiyama Harumi, who devote themselves to studying it, with numerous theses written on the subject, and various facilities dedicated to such studies, like the AIM Analytic Research Center. It is also very important in the Academy City curriculum and is taught to students as early as a student's first year of middle school. Data on espers' AIM diffusion fields are stored in the Bank.
Uses
Due to their connection, AIM diffusion fields are used as a means to investigate espers' Personal Realities, personalities and behavioral traits.
As AIM diffusion fields are a common denominator between espers, it is possible to construct brainwave networks between espers with the same brainwave patterns, such as the Level Upper Network between users of the Level Upper and the Misaka Network between the Sisters. As shown in the case of the latter, brainwave networks can be used as a control mechanism to guide the aggregated AIM diffusion fields.
Since AIM diffusion fields follow the principles of fluid mechanics, it is possible to use them as a medium for a Shading Computer. The Shading Computer requires a large amount of a suitable medium, constantly controlled and influenced, and ideally within an isolated container. With one made using AIM diffusion fields, there are several risks and effects. As even the smallest movements of the target fluid are used to perform calculations, it is possible for espers whose AIM diffusion fields are being used to influence the operations of the Shading Computer through that connection, even if they are a Level 0. Additionally, changes in pressure can flow back and affect the espers involved, potentially altering their state of mind or inputting information into them. This effect was exploited during the Agitate Halation Project to send 'revelations' and manipulate the target 'heroes. The processing power and medium of an AIM-based Shading Computer is also capable of sustaining an AIM thought being within the diffusion fields.
Counters
There have been plans to develop a restraining device to restrict the use of powers by taking advantage of the AIM diffusion fields of espers, though Shirai Kuroko states that the restraining device would be too dangerous since esper powers originate deep within the brain.
There are certain devices which are meant to interfere with AIM diffusion fields in order to disrupt the use of esper abilities within their area of effect. One example is the AIM Jammer, which emits special electromagnetic waves and diffusively reflects an esper's AIM diffusion field, causing the esper to interfere with their own power. Abilities using complex calculations are essentially prone to disruption from an AIM Jammer, and the danger of losing control and sustaining serious injury increases the more an esper requires such calculations.
STUDY developed a space-based missile weapon, designed to work in conjunction with Janie's Diffusion Ghost, intended to release transmitters for her ability into the atmosphere over Academy City and send it out of control to cause a fissive chain reaction in the AIM diffusion fields in Academy City, as a last resort to kill the city's espers during their Silent Party.
Aggregations
There are a number of effects which occur due to aggregations of AIM diffusion fields.
Tumblr media
An illustration of AIM Diffusion Field Resonance.
One important phenomena which can occur when AIM diffusion fields gather is AIM Diffusion Field Resonance. It involves espers in close proximity and with the same type of AIM diffusion field resonating with each other, which causes the effects of the AIM diffusion fields to become more prominent. Normally, this phenomena is relatively harmless and can be used by certain espers to detect others with the same ability in the vicinity. However if an overloaded esper is involved, it can cause an outbreak of RSPK Syndrome.
Tumblr media
However the prime example of an AIM diffusion field aggregation is the Imaginary Number District–Five Elements Institution, a separate realm existing in the same location as Academy City, formed from the AIM diffusion fields of the 2.3 million espers residing there. The Imaginary Number District plays a key role in Aleister Crowley's plans, being a means which can be used to achieve his intermediary and ultimate goals.
AIM-based Entities
Another important aspect of AIM Diffusion Field aggregations is the capacity to create and maintain certain AIM-based entities.
Tumblr media
One type are beings which are sometimes referred to as Artificial Angels (äššå·ĨåĪĐä―ŋ Jinkō Tenshi?), due to displaying similarities to conventional angels. These include traits such as a core, halos and wings, as well as residing in another, unseen 'realm' like angels in heaven. Unlike those angels though, these beings don't follow the laws of any religion, instead being formed through the AIM diffusion fields, something falling within the realm of science. Examples of these artificial angels include Kazakiri Hyouka, who was born in the Imaginary Number District and molded by Aleister Crowley, with the angelic form Fuse Kazakiri, and the AIM Burst, an aggregation of the AIM diffusion fields of the espers connected to the Level Upper Network, after Kiyama Harumi lost control of it.
Artificial Angels tend to possess formidable capabilities. The AIM Burst could use the abilities of every esper connected to the Level Upper Network as well as growing and regenerating while connected and with its core intact. Kazakiri Hyouka exhibited tremendous strength and self-regeneration, and displayed even greater power as Fuse Kazakiri.
Another type of AIM-based entity is an AIM thought being. These beings are similar to 'artificial angels' in that they are conscious existences tied to the AIM diffusion fields. They differ from 'artificial angels' in that they lack physical or visible bodies, though they are still capable of communicating. An AIM-based Shading Computer is capable of generating and sustaining an AIM thought being within the AIM diffusion fields it uses as a medium, and as long as the processor and medium that sustains the thought being exists, it can be revived. The only example seen so far is Yakumi Hisako who became an AIM thought being by having her consciousness transferred to a Shading Computer using Academy City's AIM diffusion fields as a medium, which was also being used for Agitate Halation, with her physical body being devoured by man-eating cockroaches in order to facilitate the transfer. After becoming an existence fixed in the city's AIM diffusion fields, she sought to remove the linchpin in order to facilitate a transfer to a further medium, such as the oceans or the atmosphere.
The most notable AIM-related being is the entity known as Aiwass, an 'angel' from the deepest layer of the world, beyond the phases of religion and magic. Similar to artificial angels such as Fuse Kazakiri, whose purpose was to have it take shape, Aiwass also requires a vast amount of AIM to manifest himself on the 'surface'. Aiwass's power far exceeds that of Fuse Kazakiri, overwhelming Accelerator and Kamijou Touma in one-sided clashes. Due to its immense power and special position as a being from the deepest layer of the world, it forms a key part of Aleister's anti-Magic God countermeasures and holds the potential to destroy the phases.
AIM entities are closely linked to the AIM diffusion fields and usually dwell within them. Those with the ability to physically manifest themselves are usually only able to do so within areas covered by the diffusion fields. Additionally, their connection with the AIM diffusion fields means that it is possible to influence their form and actions by tampering with those diffusion fields.
Being formed from aggregations of AIM diffusion fields, AIM-based entities are vulnerable to Imagine Breaker. Kazakiri Hyouka was aware that she'd be erased if she came into contact with it, and its threat played a key role in the formation of her consciousness in the first place. Yakumi Hisako's form as an AIM thought being was destroyed in a single strike and her consciousness only survived due to a secret back-up she prepared on a different medium. The effects of the Imagine Breaker on Aiwass haven't been shown, though it is apparently required to access Aiwass's core, together with Accelerator.

The Zugun case, world famous – and much disputed – in its day, is unique in several aspects, primarily
in the sheer number of phenomena recorded (more than 3000, out of which 844 are extremely well established)
in the fact that the focus person lived close together with the prime researcher, ZoÃŦ, Countess Wassilko, sharing even their room for a period in excess of one year
and in the methodical approaches implemented in the course of its investigation:
the attempt to communicate with the unconscious of the focus person by various means, none the least in order to provoke phenomena
the attempt to transform the character of the phenomena systematically from spontaneous ones to sÃĐance phenomena
a psychoanalysis of the focus person (this case appears to be the first one where psychoanalysis has been applied on an RSPK focus person)
confrontation of the focus person with other mediums or psychics
cinematographic documentation of part of the phenomena.
In other aspects, however, the Zugun case fits well into the general character of RSPK cases, e.g. in respect of the age of the focus person at the onset of the poltergeist phenomena, the bandwidth of categories of phenomena observed, etc.
With regard to the sociology of science (i.e. of Psychical Research), the impact of this case may be seen as dialectic as the above: on one hand – one is tempted to say: ‘as usual’ – an eventual exposure of the focus person with an ensuing endless discussion between the two camps, and on the other hand the unique fact that this case ultimately was to become the cradle of the later Austrian Society for Psychical Research (now Austrian Society for Parapsychology and Border Areas of Science).
The events in short: the case commenced mid-February, 1925 in the Bukowina (Romania), three months before Eleonore Zugun’s 12th birthday, and it lasted for some two years. (In comparison to the material of some RSPK databases, the focus person may be called rather young when the phenomena started, and the duration of the phenomena which terminated shortly after her first menstruation, may be called rather long.)
The poltergeist phenomena started with inexplicable movements of various objects, throwing of rocks as well as locomotion of household items. These were attributed by the superstitious peasant populace to the devil, in Romanian "Dracu", based on an alleged remark made by Eleonore Zugun’s grandmother early in this case who might have induced a devil complex in the girl by that malediction.
When the case came to the knowledge of the regional media, the then eminent German Psychic Researcher, Fritz Grunewald was dispatched to the scene where he was able to establish the occurrence of "genuine paranormal phenomena". As Grunewald happened to die but short time later, the Countess Wassilko whose family used to live for centuries in the Bukowina (the easternmost province of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy before WW I) firstly visited the girl in her native environment and subsequently took her to Vienna into her own household some time afterwards (end-January, 1926). After a period of some eight months there, she took her for another five months on an extended tour through several European countries, thus enabling many Psychic Researchers as well as interested lay-persons (several hundred people altogether) to witness the Zugun phenomena which had at that time actually changed from the locomotion of small objects, mainly interpreted as apports, to dermographic phenomena (scratches and bites all over her face and her arms). Thus, the Zugun case shows several distinct phases. The case ended practically with the girl's first menstruation, after which there was a quick decline in the number of phenomena. Following that – the "case" being no more a case, only a biography – the girl spent a few more months in Vienna, finishing her training as a hairdresser before eventually returning home in 1928, where she started working, later became married (with no children), widowed, etc., living a "normal" life.
My own research in the Zugun case – the support of which by a grant provided by the "Institut fÞr Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene" (Institute for Border Areas of Psychology and Psychic Hygiene), Freiburg i. Br., Germany, is gratefully acknowledged – concentrated on the two phases, the period in Vienna (= Phase I) and the tour (= Phase II), with emphasis on the former, and focussed on addressing i.a. the following problems:
establishing the total number of phenomena (Phase I: 1754, Phase II: 1306, totalling 3060, as opposed to Countess Wassilko’s estimate of 5000 approx)
evaluation of the original reports in order to identify indicators for possible fraud (or otherwise pointing towards the "genuineness" of the phenomena):
the original researchers, i.e. Countess Wassilko and her colleagues, had already pointed out that Eleonore Zugun sometimes, if not controlled properly, would resort to trickery, i.e. they viewed upon this case as a "mixed" one
the analysis of the documentary film did not reveal any indicators for fraud
in particular, the film shows Eleonore wearing no ring on her finger, hence the allegation by Dessoir of her fraudulently producing the scratches by pointed fingernails or the sharp-edged setting of her ring, as still perpetuated in Kurtz’ "Skeptic’s Handbook", must strongly be refuted
scrutiny of Rosenbusch’ alleged exposure, the analysis of which showed that it is not tenable; based on his skeptical belief system, Rosenbusch mistook harmless touches evoking reflex dermal phenomena for fraudulent scratches, etc.
(translation and) evaluation of Eleonore Zugun’s psychoanalysis:
This analysis, however, has been carried out somehow amateurish and I have reasons to presume that a few of the underlying complexes (i.e. an alleged rape and an incestuous episode) attributed to Eleonore by the Countess might have been connect to her own unconscious (countertransference). This supposed countertransference is likely to have been instrumental for the transformation of the Zugun phenomena from apports or locomotion of objects to dermographic phenomena
though being very likely, it could, due to the lack of sources, still not positively be established whether the Zugun case was brought to the attention of Sigmund Freud himself
investigation of the frequency distribution of the phenomena, the question being whether the distribution of maxima and minima showed an internal periodicity or any correlation with external variables (or is entirely random):
Countess Wassilko, after observing the phenomena for two months, hypothesised that the frequency distribution showing one distinct maximum per month was an anticipation of the female cycle
Schrenck-Notzing, who, by the way, supported the Countess’ research by a substantial grant, hypothesised that the maxima of phenomena appeared to coincide with the full moon
Neither of these contemporary and somewhat premature hypotheses, formulated after too short a period of observation, could be supported. The distribution of phenomena during the entire time of more than one year does not show any periodicity that comes even close to an equivalent of the menstrual cycle nor could any correlation be found when probing modern hypotheses (correlation with maxima/minima of the geomagnetic field [Persinger] the values of which were supplied by the World Data Center C1 for Geomagnetism, Copenhagen, Denmark; or LST [Spottiswoode]). The correlation coefficient for the geomagnetic hypothesis is
r = 0.085 and 0.021 respectively
(for the two phases ea.), whereas for the hypothetical dependency upon the phases of the moon the respective values are
r = 0.028 and r = 0.015.
Hence, it has been established that these external variables had no influence on the frequency of the Zugun phenomena whatsoever. The circadian distribution is significantly different btn Phase I and Phase II, due to the different circumstances of everyday life, obviously dependent upon the Countess’ daily rhythms, i.e. a social variable. Moreover, it could be demonstrated that there is an apparently strong albeit hard-to-quantify correlation with purely psychological variables, such as suggestions, or skin contact, etc. that had impact on the phenomena, on both their frequency and their character, e.g. reflex reactions on being touched.
After all, this extraordinary case offers the feasibility to discuss all the above on two (or even more) levels, i.e. the case as such, and the case as a prime methodological example for applying quantitative methods on a hitherto apparent qualitative case, thus combining proof-oriented and process-oriented aspects. This approach to historic cases is different from mere reception studies. It demonstrates that the existing abundance of historic cases in parapsychology is a most valuable "treasure" that needs to be re-evaluated periodically – a permanent process –, and that the gap between idiographic and nomothetic approaches can indeed be bridged.

A Famous Case of Truly Frightening Entities
Hauntings truly run the spectrum of the weird. You have some that merely involve moving objects, others that entail roving apparitions of some type, and still other more malevolent case that have reports of physical violence and assault revolving about them. Then you have the truly frightening accounts that involve all of the above. One of the most terrifying hauntings in history seems to have settled down on one very unfortunate family in the 1970s, involving a group of specters with an inclination for violence, mayhem, and even rape, and which would go on to become one of the most ghastly incidents of paranormal activity on record.
The story of one of the most frightening and violent hauntings of all time starts in 1974, with a single mother by the name of Doris Bither, who lived in in Culver City, California, with her four children. The family had moved here from Santa Monica in order to try and start a new life after a string of abusive relationships that Doris had been in, and to try and escape her demon of alcoholism. It was a rough time of things, as Doris had barely enough to raise her four children, all born of different fathers, and they were a broken family living in dirt poor conditions, but things would soon get worse still, when something decidedly dark and paranormal came calling.
It started rather creepily enough, with an elderly woman who came over one day shortly after they had moved in to tell Doris out of the blue that she had once lived in the home and that it was evil, before wandering off to never be seen again. So far, so eerie, but it would prove to be almost prophetic. Not long after this, there would be instances of classic poltergeist activity, such as lights turning on and off, objects moving on their own, and anomalous noises, all of which were witnessed by all of the family members. Then things graduated to the more frightening when apparitions would start appearing.
At first it was just glimpses, a shadow figure moving across the living room here, a movement in the periphery of the vision there, but it got steadily more intense, and even neighbors began seeing these things around the house. The figures that were seen started to take shape, appearing as fog-like humanoid shapes that would move about or merely sit in the corner and simply watch. In an interview with Ghost Theory, Doris’s middle son, Brian Harris, would describe them thus:
It was never clear. When they would make themselves known, it was always like a fog. Like a humanâ€Ķbut not quite. It was like a sculpture. Like a chiseled body. Not a full figure, but at times we could see some of it. At times, it would be annoying. We would be watching television and these things would walk by. Like nothing. We were so used to the poltergeist, that we just got to a point were we wouldn’t even care.
It became increasingly clear that there were more than one of the entities as well, either 3 or 4 of them, depending on who you ask, although Harris has said that there were 4. This spooky paranormal activity, although at first scary but mostly harmless, would not stay that way for long, soon becoming increasingly terrifying. Not content to just mill about and cause mischief, the entities began to lash out at the family, pushing, shoving, hitting, and even clawing or biting them, and this would happen at all hours, even in the middle of the daytime. Harris would say:
We all experienced some form of attack. There was the pushing, biting and scratching being done to us. There were about 4 entities in the home, and they made themselves known by appearing all the timeâ€Ķ.I think it took a lot of energy for them to do that. It was as if they [the four entities] showed themselves whenever they felt like.
Although he said there were four of the specters, Doris herself would later claim that there were only three, but the true number was- too many. Even more terrifying still was that the entities began to actively target Doris the most vehemently, and it went from simple pushes, scratches and bites to full on assault, with the ghosts even allegedly holding her down and raping her with abandon. This would often happen in the next room while the terrified children listened to the bangs, thuds, and their mother’s desperate screaming as they cowered in the shadows, but it also sometimes happened right in front of their eyes, and Harris has described these spectral attacks thus:
The whole rape thing was real. My room was right next door to my mother’s. I would hear the attacks happening. Things being thrown, her screaming. Then she would come out of the bedroom and have all these bruises. On her legs, her inner thighs. There were times were we would see it happen in front of us. It was like if a man was standing in front of my mother and would start to beat her. Imagine a woman being beaten. You could see her being picked up and thrown around. Sounds, slapsâ€Ķbut there was no one there to actually do it. We all felt it too. pulling, biting and scratchingâ€Ķwe were all attacked.
These viscious attacks and sexual assaults went on unabated, with the apparitions appearing without warning practically every day and night, and it got to the point where the family was desperate for anyone to help them. The biggest of the entities even gained a creepy nickname for himself, “Mr. Whose-it.” Doris took it upon herself to approach paranormal investigators and parapsychologists Kerry Gaynor and Dr. Barry Taff, who were intrigued by her harrowing tale to say the least, and went about arranging a full investigation into the claims. They would not be disappointed.
The team moved in for their investigation on August 22, 1974, thinking at first that there would not be much to this all other than a seriously disturbed young woman. The first thing they did was take a look at the myriad bruises, scratches, and scars that she had all over her body, especially along her inner thighs, allegedly inflicted by the entities and which proved to be far more savage and severe than they had expected. She gave them additional information on the attacks by saying that there were 3 of them (despite her son’s claims that there were 4), and that the two smaller ones would hold her down while the bigger one raped her.
Intrigued, but not yet sold, the investigators set up their equipment in an effort to gather any evidence at all of a haunting. When this was done, they had Doris go into one of the rooms where the most activity had been occurring and told her to start yelling and cursing at the unseen entities, trying to draw them out. Almost immediately there was intense orb activity captured on the equipment, with spots of light flitting all over the place like angry bees. After this Doris was seen to be enveloped by a greenish mist, followed by the materialization of what appeared to be the upper torso of a man, which hovered there in the mist and was apparently so terrifying that one of the investigators fainted. This torso could not be captured on the equipment, but there is a photograph of Doris with a strange arc of light appearing over her.
This sort of intense paranormal activity would could continue virtually unabated for the next several months of the investigation, including apparitions, mysterious lights, temperature drops, horrific mystery odors, and moving objects. It was even noticed that the invastigators’ presence actually seemed to anger and irritate the entities, and it was also found that playing music by the metal group Black Sabbath also seemed to cause an uptick in activity, making it all stronger, but then it suddenly started winding down and stopping altogether for no discernible reason.

One of the photos taken during the investigation
In later years, Doris would move her and her family to other places on several occasions, but according to her each time the entities would follow her wherever she went, although somewhat weaker than they had been. She would even claim at one point that she had been impregnated by one of the spirits. Although her case had become quite well-known at the time, Doris herself would drop off the radar for years before finally succumbing to cardiac arrest in 1995, leaving us no further along as to what happened to her than when these supernatural forces first targeted her.
What exactly happened to this poor woman and her family? What sort of spirits or entities targeted them and why? That would depend a lot on who you ask, but according to Taff himself, it has nothing at all to do with ghosts or spirits as we imagine them. Taff is convinced that the phenomena were caused by the subconscious human mind lashing out to affect the world around it though psychokinesis, the ability to move objects with the mind. In his theory, this is all the result of various factors coming together to cause the mind of a victim to reach out to wreak havoc on the outside world, most often without their awareness that they are even doing so. So insistent is he that this is the case, and that such hauntings are caused by the projections of living beings rather than demons or the ghosts of the dead, that he has expressed disdain for these “paranormal” ideas, saying:
I don’t, for one second, believe this is the work of dead people throwing living people around. As there are no academic credentials required for anyone to go out and investigate the paranormal. Every new age groupie is out there looking for demons, emulating the garbage they’ve seen on cable TV paranormal shows. To fully comprehend the possibility that a living person’s subconscious mind can involuntarily generate such power as to manifest luminous anomalies, apparitions, and macroscopic psychokinetic events, is for me, far more compelling than if a discarnate intelligence was responsible.
The evidence and collected data suggests these effects are the result of what’s called Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis (RSPK) There’s two types of psychokinesis (moving physical objects around without physical means). There’s microscopic, which works on very small scales, things like affecting random number generators, random event generators, and moving subatomic particles around. It’s usually electrostatic-based, fatigue in the individual is shown, as it’s done on a conscious level. And then there’s macroscopic, what we call ‘poltergeist,’ and that’s a whole different ball of wax. We’re talking about the ability of moving very massive objects, hundreds of pounds easily. It’s done on a subconscious level, as there is no fatigue seen in the person at the core of it. Like the microscopic type, it’s believed that the phenomena are generated by a living human agency.
Taff has used this explanation to explain a wide range of what are traditionally considered to be “paranormal phenomena,” which he has compiled into a book called Aliens Above, Ghosts Below: Explorations of the Unknown, which takes the approach of trying to explain all of these disparate phenomena with possible real world rational solutions. Others disagree, and say that this was some sort of demonic presence, a trio of ghosts up to no good, or just the delusions of a fractured mind. It has never been solved either way. Whatever the case is remains to be seen, but in the meantime the Doris Bithers story has gone on to become one of the most frightening and controversial accounts of a haunting on record. So famous and noteworthy is this mysterious case that it was made into a 1983 Hollywood film based on these events called The Entity, starring Barbara Hershey and directed by Sidney J. Furie, and which is loosely based on the real events. What was it that terrorized this family so violently? We may never know for sure.

Ep 281: The Elusive Force – A Powerful Polish Poltergeist Part 1
"There is a fundamental difference between the scientist and the scholar. Only someone who has the courage to pursue and uphold the truth regardless of his colleagues’ reactions, the etiquette of his profession, and conventional wisdom deserves to be called a scholar."  -- Professor Julian Aleksandrowicz, 1985
Description:
Significant poltergeist events often start with a minor incident and incrementally grow with a bit of intensity until they eventually fade. This is somewhat true about the paranormal activity in a small town in southern Poland in 1983, except in this case, what started as a weird action by an unseen force quickly escalated into one of the most extreme and extraordinary poltergeist cases ever recorded. Around 3:00 a.m. on April 4th of that year, Marian Tomecki awoke to a decorative straw mat falling on his head. He tried to fasten it back to the wall when it "tore itself from his hands and danced around." Immediately, glassware and household items erratically fly around the apartment belonging to his daughter and son-in-law where he was staying, smashing into walls and furniture. Andrzej and Ewa Gajewski's 13-year-old daughter and Marian's grandaughter, Joasia, appeared to be the catalyst for the impossible destruction, consistent with current theories about human conduits in many cases of the phenomena. As the Gajewski family continued to be terrorized by the violent trashing, neighbors, local authorities, Joasia's school, and even a Japanese news crew became eyewitnesses to the bizarre happenings, becoming national news in Poland. What also makes the Gajewski case groundbreaking is that it continued for an extended period and with such consistent power that scientists could study it. Join us for a case of RSPK or "recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis" so disturbing and astonishing it has divided the parapsychologist community.

Parapsikoloji nedir ?
Tumblr media

Parapsikoloji gÞnÞmÞzde inceleme sahasÄąna giren konulardan bazÄąlarÄąnÄą sÄąralayabiliriz;
Psikokinezi (PK) : Telekinezi/ RÞyada ESP / Hipnoz ve Hipnoz AltÄąnda ESP I Hayvanlarda ESP (ANPSI) / Bitkilerde Parapsikoloji / Duruişiti /Psikometri/ Levitasyon
