Know all the ingredients used in Cement Mixtures
Cement is the end-product of a combination of 8 main ingredients that go through the cement production process. These main ingredients are in general extracted from the materials limestone, clay, chalk, sand, marl, shale, bauxite, and iron ore. It is one of the main ingredients in the concrete mix used for construction. SD Conmix provides ready-mix-concrete of premium quality. A brief discussion about the contribution of different ingredients in cement is mentioned below: Lime: Lime constitutes about 60 – 65 % of cement which in turn contributes to the strength. It is highly imperative and proper care to be taken with respect to the right proportion to make the cement sound and strong. An additional quantity of lime could result in unsound cement and lead to the expansion and disintegration of the cement. Also, the use of deficient lime results in decreased strength of the cement and it will set quickly. Silica: About 17% – 25 % of cement consists of Silica which again is a contributing factor towards the strength of the cement because of the dicalcium and tricalcium silicates formation. If silica is present in excess quantity, although it increases the cement strength but would also result in prolonged setting time of cement. Alumina Cement contains about 3.5 % – 9% of Alumina and it is this product that imparts the quality of quick-setting to the cement. However, if there is an excess amount of alumina present in the cement it causes a reduction of strength. Iron Oxide About 0.5% – 6.0 % of iron oxide is present in the cement. In addition to strength to the cement iron oxide also provides colour and hardness to the cement. Magnesium Oxide It is important to add the correct proportion which is about 0.5 % – 4.0 %. of magnesium oxide that imparts colour and hardness to the cement. Again, the presence of surplus quantity will affect the soundness of cement which refers to the stability of the volume change involved during the process of setting and hardening. Sulphur Trioxide A small quantity of about 1 % – 2.0 % of Sulphur Trioxide is present in the cement which also helps to make the cement sound. Excessive sulphur trioxide results in the cement becoming unsound. Alkalis Only small quantities of Alkalis such as 0.4% – 1.3 %. of soda or potash should be present in the cement. Excess quantity of Alkalis leads to efflorescence and straining when they are used in concrete or mortar. Top 10 Requirements to be focussed on to ensure good quality cement: Cement should possess a uniform colour. Cement has to be free from lumps. Cement should have regular level and smooth finish such that it has to gel well and sink in completely when it is mixed with water. The total ratio in the percentage of alumina with iron oxide is not less than 0.66% of cement. The total percentage of sulphur content in cement should not be greater than 2.75%. The Magnesia content should not exceed 5% in weight. Insoluble residue in cement should not exceed 1.5% by weight. The cement should not lose its weight by more than 4% when heated. The initial setting time of cement should ideally be about 30 minutes. The final setting time should generally be about 10 hours. SD Conmix is known for providing the best-quality Ready mix concrete in Bangalore.

At Building Construction projects, from raft foundation to roof casting, concrete is the primary requirement at site. Production of Concrete & delivery of concrete are two major tasks to be dealt at Building construction sites. At projects where concrete quantity is large, Automatic Concrete Batching Plants are used for production of Concrete. As we know, building construction sites require supply of concrete at various height & depth. For raft foundation, concrete needs to be delivered below ground level & for roof casting works concrete needs to be at a height. This requirement of Concrete can be fulfilled with Concrete pumps. Concrete Batching Plant is a Concrete production equipment while concrete pump is a concrete delivering equipment.
Selection of Concrete Batching Plant & Concrete Pumps. There are many factors on which selection of Concrete Batching Plant & concrete pump is determined mentioned as below:
A) Quantity of Concrete required in Construction project?

Will the concrete crack under heat?
Concrete outperforms the other material that is used for construction. When the concrete is used for construction, it lasts for a longer time and reduces the frequent repairs and maintenance costs. Concrete is versatile, durable, and long-lasting, it is a cost-effective and sustainable choice for both commercial and residential buildings.
Concrete is a mix made of a few materials like aggregate, cement, water, gravel and stones, these materials act as the foundation for all types of construction. Concrete mix is the most commonly used construction material in the industry. SD CONMIX is one of the leading ready mix concrete manufacturers. They use high-quality raw materials and top-rated technology for their RMC.
Concrete is an excellent material for various applications right from interstate highways to the foundation of your homes. However, despite its popularity and strength, it is susceptible to cracking.
Understanding the reason for cracking
There can be many reasons for cracks to develop in the concrete, but the good news is that careful planning with the usage of the quality products in the right proportions can minimize the cracking. Hot weather conditions including high temperatures, strong winds, and low humidity in summer can lead to problems in the concrete. As the materials heat up, they tend to expand and as they cool down, they contract. Thermal cracking is far more likely when a part of the concrete structure is warmer than the rest. When an area of concrete cools, it contracts until it reaches the portion of material that is warmer, and the warmer area prevents any further contraction. In some cases, the restraint that the warmer concrete places on the cool concrete’s ability to contract will create more stress than the concrete is designed to withstand and therefore cracking occurs. SD Conmix’s  RMC  is manufactured from high-quality construction materials that give strength and long lasting durability.
Preventions for thermal cracking
When it comes to cracking, prevention is the key. There are several factors that significantly reduce cracking like good quality concrete ,addition of additives, supplementary materials and chemicals, the right water quantity, etc.  The ready mix concrete from SD CONMIX includes additives,  which play an important role in reducing and preventing cracks.
Curing the concrete properly is an important factor. Cracking will occur if the concrete lacks moisture or does not have enough moisture to facilitate the reaction, so proper curing and drying is crucial.
Another important aspect is to keep the ground prepared for concrete. Concrete cannot be poured directly on the frozen ground and it should be compact where the concrete is laid. A properly prepared ground is important for moisture and heat control, it also reduces the  likelihood of the cracks.
If you are concerned about cracks in your concrete, then prevention is possible by using the high quality concrete. When it comes to high quality concrete, then, SD CONMIX is the name that reckons. We have a team of professionals who are specialized in all things related to concrete and manufacture the best  ready mix concrete.

Why Civil Engineers Prefer Ready-Mix Concrete Over Site-Mixed Concrete in D-Wall Construction
Tumblr media
Before the foundation comes the right materials, hence most diaphragm wall construction companies pay high attention to the kind of concrete and slurry used in the construction process. With the right quality and quantity of materials, any construction can stand the test of time. One such vital material of the construction world is concrete, constituting refined and coarse aggregates mixed in a fixed quantity and water.
Though, selecting the right type of concrete is highly essential for any project as it can affect its strength, construction cost and time. This is why diaphragm wall contractors in India prefer using Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) over Site-Mixed Concrete (SMC) for all deep basement underground construction.
Tumblr media
Ready-Mixed Concrete as its name connotes is a tailor-made concrete, manufactured in a plant and delivered to the site in a ready-to-use state. Depending on the specification of the construction project, RMC can be delivered in the plastic state (similar to the concrete dough) in a barrel truck or in the dry state to be mixed on the site itself.
On the other hand, the concrete mix prepared on-site is known as Site-Mixed Concrete. There are various components involved in the preparation of SMC in specific ratios to obtain the desired strength and consistency. Hence it needs to be done under the eye of an expert.
RMC for Diaphragm Wall Construction
Tumblr media
Talking specifically about diaphragm wall construction, RMC with cement, sand, 10MM and 20MM aggregate, ad mixer, and potable water works most efficiently. The minimum cement content should range around 330 to 400 kg per cubic meter. It is vital to note that for any high water table or underwater project like diaphragm wall construction for dams, the cement content increases by 10%.
The RMC’s retention time is around 2.5 to 3 hours and can be maintained by using admixtures. To reach optimum workability it is advisable to maintain the slump around 170-190m. The top diaphragm wall contractors in India, suggest that the minimum grading should be M25 and M15 for a diaphragm wall and guide wall respectively.
