I’m going to credit Unus Annus’ Hunting Heehoo documentary for teaching the internet that television quality content doesn’t have to have an inflated budget

I feel like tumblr has somehow accidentally signed some agreement to trade YOI and Watcher for Hades 2.

Is anyone else thinking of the amount of unused footage they have for Ghost Files that they’ve mentioned multiple times? Like they’re talking about upping the production and how much Ghost Files production already costs but like is it worth it when you only use a small amount of what is filmed? Idk if you only use a small amount of what you film maybe the best idea isn’t to try and film more in a more expensive way when ultimately the content isn’t going to change. Like Shane has said no one wants to see them sit in the dark and quiet for hours so what else would they add to make the videos “better” ?

If you want to watch a channel shoot themselves in the foot, this is the video to watch. I actually didn't see this video first, but I saw the mass backlash on Tiktok and Twitter. This video documents the shittiest business decision made by any former Buzzfeed member, and that's saying something. If I had a nickel for every video made by former Buzzfeed stars that's making a controversial announcement where the thumbnail is three dudes on a couch with shitty lighting, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's wild that it happened twice.
The video is full of empathy farming while simultaneously putting all of their content behind a paywall. If you want to know what's going on, I don't actually recommend this video. Watch penguinz0 or any other commentary YouTuber for the tea because this video is not worth the watch. The best part of this video is literally the comments section.
I guess we'll see how they walk this one back.

$6/month is ludicrous for roughly 8 episodes. imagine if netflix only let you watch 16 episodes a month. i love shane and ryan but it is insane to say "everyone can afford it" when you're fanbase is primarily college students. and they hired MORE employees. i am disgusted this beloved series is being driven into the ground because steven wants to be Icarus.

Trying to shift blame away from Shane and Ryan is parasocial cope. No way a decision like this is made without the implicit endorsement of their top talent.

I hope the boys have a clearer understanding of why their audience likes them and what (WHO) they love to watch the most. Bc you’d think the views would speak for themselves but it feels very clear from all of this that Steven overestimated his appeal, I hope he is humbled and just accepts that Ryan and Shane are the stars and that’s just how entertainment businesses go. I don’t think Steven deserved all of the hate he was getting especially the nasty stuff but some things were true that his type of content and his on screen personality is just not that entertaining and he isn’t relatable enough to make up for that. But no one should be nasty to any of them, some “fans” true colors came out as well.

something about ryan bergara constantly popping up on my phone screen asking for ghost files evidence makes me chuckle a little bit. he's just a little guy going door to door asking for donations but the way he does it is strangely endearing and actually makes me wish he comes back to ask for my money again even though i don't have anything to donate.

Really liking how Grian was forced to just sit by and watch both his teammates die. He had insider knowledge, guided their plans and sought out schemes, actively gave them an advantage, but it was for nothing. Through their own actions they perished and Grian was forced to bear witness. Grian was only ever meant to watch.
