Werewolves explained - a terrifying history!
The history of werewolves goes back thousands of years to ancient Greece, Hindu mythology and countless stories of werewolf attacks
From Ancient Greek and Hindu mythology to the Vikings and medieval France and down to modern times – werewolves have enjoyed a long history. The idea of these half-human/half-wolf creatures that are capable of tearing innocent people to pieces. Transforming themselves, shape shifting from an ordinary person to a lupine monster. So what is a werewolf? Well, somebody transformed into a werewolf…

"Rākṣasa (राक्षस) and the rest (yakṣa and piśāca) are lower classes of beings, ignorant of the law relating to what should and what should not be eaten; and it is they that eat meat"
I wonder if this is why all Karma society bosses in DDS2 are Yakshas! As a reference to the fact that they gleefully eat the flesh of other humans to survive?

I've been sick, so I didn't feel fully drawing. These are some concepts I wanted to revolve around fire, but with something else- I decided to mix it with Rākṣasas/tiger. Giyu and he are the only ones with vague backstories (it was easier, and my sickness wasn't helping at all). As well, I can't imagine him as a demon, so the reason was difficult for me to come up with. In this Au, he became a demon before Tanjiro's time, so his brother Senjuro is grown up compared to the original. The blue fire is activated when he goes fuuull out/

☀KING HIRANYAKASHIPU ☀
“Hiraṇyakaśipu became the conqueror of the entire universe. Indeed, that great demon conquered all the planets in the three worlds — upper, middle and lower — including the planets of the human beings, the Gandharvas, the Garuḍas, the great serpents, the Siddhas, Cāraṇas and Vidyādharas, the great saints, Yamarāja, the Manus, the Yakṣas, the Rākṣasas, the Piśācas and their masters, and the masters of the ghosts and Bhūtas. He defeated the rulers of all the other planets where there are living entities and brought them under his control. Conquering the abodes of all, he seized their power and influence."~Srimad Bhagavatam 7.4.5-7

Eight Classes of Gods and Demons in Buddhism
In Buddhist cosmology, the Eight Classes of Gods and Demons, known as Aṣṭagatyaḥ or Aṣṭauparṣadaḥ in Sanskrit and ལྷ་འདྲེ་སྡེ་བརྒྱད་ (lha dré dé gyé) in Tibetan, represent a classification of worldly spirits. These beings play significant roles in Buddhist narratives and teachings. One particular classification includes:
1. **Dü (Skt. Māra; Tib. བདུད་, Wyl. bdud):**
- Often referred to as Māra, the personification of desire and the temptations that hinder spiritual progress.
- Linked to the Four Maras, representing various obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
2. **Mamo (Skt. Mātṛkā; Tib. མ་མོ་, Wyl. ma mo):**
- Mamo spirits are a group of protective and sometimes wrathful female deities associated with fertility and protection.
3. **Naga (Skt. Nāga; Tib. ཀླུ་, Wyl. klu):**
- Serpent-like beings often associated with water and weather phenomena.
- Both benevolent and malevolent nagas are present in Buddhist cosmology.
4. **Ging (Skt. Kiṃkaras; Tib. གིང་, Wyl. ging):**
- Ging refers to a category of spirits or beings with diverse characteristics.
- Their role can range from protectors to potentially harmful influences.
5. **Rahula (Skt. Rāhula):**
- Rahula is the name of the son of Siddhartha Gautama (the historical Buddha) and is also associated with an obstructive deity.
- Represents obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
6. **Tsen (Tib. བཙན་, Wyl. btsan):**
- Tsen spirits are generally considered malevolent and harmful entities.
- Associated with obstacles and disturbances.
7. **Rakshasa (Skt. Rākṣasa; Tib. སྲིན་པོ་, Wyl. srin po):**
- Rakshasas are demon-like beings known for their ferocity and malevolence.
- Often depicted as shape-shifters and troublemakers.
8. **Yaksha (Skt. Yakṣa; Tib. གནོད་སྦྱིན་, Wyl. gnod sbyin):**
- Yakshas are a class of nature spirits associated with the earth and natural elements.
- Varied in character, some are benevolent while others may pose challenges.
Inner corespondence:
- On an inner level, these classes of gods and demons are believed to correspond to the Eight Consciousnesses in Buddhist philosophy. The inner understanding emphasizes the psychological and spiritual aspects of these classifications, aligning them with different layers of consciousness.
Understanding these Eight Classes provides insights into the rich tapestry of Buddhist cosmology, illustrating the complex interplay between spiritual forces and the human journey towards enlightenment.

🌹 SRI SIVA MAHA PURANA - 876 🌹 ✍️ J.L. SHASTRI, 📚. Prasad Bharadwaj 🌴 Rudra-saṃhitā (5): Yuddha-khaṇḍa - CHAPTER 37 🌴 🌻 Śaṅkhacūḍa fights with the full contingent of his army - 4 🌻
33. He hurled his spear refulgent like the sun at the chest of the lord of Dānavas. At the blow he fell unconscious.
34. That powerful Asura got rid of the affliction in a Muhūrta and regained consciousness. With a leonine vigour he got up and roared.
35. He bit Kārttikeya of great strength with his spear. Not making that spear, a gift of Brahmā, futile, Kārttikeya fell on the ground.
36. Taking him on her lap Kālī brought him near Śiva. By his divine sport and perfect wisdom Śiva enlivened him.
37. Śiva gave him infinite strength. As a result of that the valorous Kārttikeya stood up and felt inclined to go to the battlefield.
38. In the meantime the heroic Vīrabhadra of great strength fought with the powerful Śaṅkhacūḍa in the battle.
39. Whatever arrows were discharged by the Dānava in the battle were split playfully by Vīrabhadra by means of his own arrows.
40. The lord of Dānavas discharged hundreds of divine missiles. The valorous Vīrabhadra split all of them by means of his arrows.
41. The valorous Śaṅkhacñḍa became infuriated and hit him on the grounds.
42. Regaining consciouness in a trice the leader of the Gaṇas, Vīrabhadra caught hold of his bow again.
43. In the meantime Kālī went to the battle ground again at the request of Kārttikeya to devour the Dānavas and to protect her own people.
44. Nandīśvara and other heroes, the gods, Gandharvas, Yakṣas, Rākṣasas and serpents followed her.
45. Drum-bearers and wine-carriers[2] accompanied them in hundreds. Heroic warriors on either side were active again.

Chapter 73 🌻 Mode of worshipping the Sun - 1 🌻
The Lord said:
O Skanda! I shall describe the (mode of) worship of Sun [i.e., sūrya-pūjā or arcana] preceded by the assignment (of letters) on the body. After having contemplated as “I am the Sun [sūrya]”, one should worship by offering waters (arghya).
2-4. It (should be conceived) as filled with red colour with the drop (of water) drawn to the forehead. After having worshipped it and after making the protective covering with the limbs of the sun-god, that water should be sprinkled on the materials of worship and the sun-god should be worshipped (remaining) facing the east. (One should recite) the syllables oṃ aṃ (hṛdayāya etc. and worship Daṇḍi and Piṅgala (attendants of the sun) respectively at the right and left sides of the entrance. (Salutations should be made to the gaṇa saying) aṃ gaṇāya on the northeast. The preceptor (should be worshipped) in the south-east and the lofty seat (of the deity) should be worshipped in the middle of the altar.
One should worship vimala, sāra, parama and sukha, (the rays of the sun), which are to be worshipped in the directions south-east (and should be conceived as) strong as the lion and of the colours of white, red, yellow and blue.
6-8. One should worship (the essences of the energies of the lord) rā-diptā (radiant), ra-jayā (victorious), ru-bhadrā (auspicious), re-vibhūti (prosperity), rai-vimalā (pure), rai-amoghā (profound), rau-vidyut (lightning), in the (quarters) east etc. inside the lotus (shaped diagram). The seat of the sun would be at the centre (established by the syllable) raṃ. One should invoke the sun and worship his form with the six-syllabled (mantra) oṃ haṃ khakholkāya. One should assign the sun-god after having meditated upon the altar with the folded hands lifted to the forehead.

🌻 16. The Mystery of the Interrelationship 🌻
The chemistry of elements and of a living body, known as inorganic and organic chemistry, also may be said to be closely associated with biological functions. This fact is brought to high relief in the effects produced by the administering of chemically manufactured drugs into the human system and the chemical effect of organic substances introduced into the body of a human being. Here again we have revealed before us the mystery of the inter-relationship obtaining among chemical, biological and psychological functions.
The bifurcation of these sciences into independent subjects unconnected with one another would thus be not proper. Chemistry is the study of the character of the molecular substances constituting the building bricks of all substances—earth, water, fire and air—whether these are studied in the external world or through the individual bodies they form by different permutations and combinations.

The Purāṇas speak of 400,000 humanlike races of beings living on various planets and of 8,000,000 other life forms, including plants and lower animals. Out of the 400,000 humanlike forms, human beings as we know them are said to be among the least powerful. This, of course, ties in with the picture that emerges from accounts of UFO encounters. I have been using the word “humanoid” to refer to humanlike beings reported in UFO encounters, and I will also use it to refer to the Vedic humanlike races.
UFO accounts often portray humanoids as looking strange or repulsive, but some have been described as beautiful. The Vedic humanoids also vary widely in appearance. Some of them, such as Gandharvas and Siddhas, are said to have very beautiful human forms. Others are said to be ugly, frightening, or deformed in appearance. One group is called the Kimpuruṣas. Here kim means “is it?,” and puruṣa means “human.”
Many of the Vedic humanoid races are said to naturally possess certain powers called siddhis. Humans of this earth can also potentially acquire these powers, and some people have greater abilities in this regard than others. Here is a list of some of these siddhis. Since they seem to be directly related to some of the powers attributed to UFO entities, I will discuss them in greater detail in later sections.
1. Mental communication and thought-reading. These are standard among Vedic humanoids, but normal speech through sound is also generally used.
2. Being able to see or hear at a great distance.
3. Laghimā-siddhi: levitation or antigravity. There is also a power of creating enormous weight.
4. Aṇimā- and mahimā-siddhis: the power to change the size of objects or living bodies without disrupting their structure.
5. Prāpti-siddhi: the power to move objects from one place to another, apparently without crossing the intervening space. This power is connected with the ability to travel into parallel, higher-dimensional realms.
6. The ability to move objects directly through the ether, without being impeded by gross physical obstacles. This type of travel is called vihāyasa. There is also a type of travel called mano-java, in which the body is directly transferred to a distant point by the action of the mind.
7. Vaśitā-siddhi: the power of long-distance hypnotic control. Vedic accounts point out that this power can be used to control people’s thoughts from a distance.
8. Antardhāna, or invisibility.
9. The ability to assume different forms or to generate illusory bodily forms.
10. The power of entering within another person’s body and controlling it. This is done using the subtle body (defined below).
Many different Vedic humanoid races are said to live in parallel, higher-dimensional realms within the earth, on its surface, and in its immediate vicinity. One striking feature of Vedic accounts is that different races such as Siddhas, Cāraṇas, Uragas, Guhyakas, and Vidyādharas are often described as living and working together cooperatively, even though they differ greatly in customs and appearance. These beings are generally well endowed with the various siddhis.
In the past, many of these humanoid types were to be found on the earth, either as visitors or as inhabitants. Indeed, large areas of the earth’s surface have sometimes been controlled and populated by a variety of humanoid species. This is the basic setting of the Rāmāyaṇa,which tells how Lord Rāmacandra rescued his wife Sītā from the kingdom of Laṅkā, to which she had been taken by a Rākṣasa named Rāvaṇa. The Rākṣasas are one of the 400,000 humanoid races, and they were ruling Laṅkā at that time.
In the Vedic cosmic hierarchy, there is a graded series of higher planetary systems, each of which is inaccessible to the inhabitants of the systems below it. The topmost authority in the material universe is known as Brahmā, and he lives in the highest material planetary system, called Brahmaloka. Beneath Brahmaloka there are the planetary systems Tapoloka, Janaloka, and Maharloka, which are inhabited by sages (ṛṣis) who live as ascetics and cultivate knowledge and transcendental consciousness. Beneath these planets, there is the realm of Svargaloka, which is predominated by the beings known as Devas. The Devas are organized in a military hierarchy. They engage in politics and warfare, and their battles with lower forces may sometimes have an impact on life on the earth. However, due to the extremely long life spans of the Devas, their social and political relationships tend to be stable.
Although the universe is completely under intelligent control, higher-level controllers such as the Devas and great sages do not generally intervene directly in the lives of subordinate beings, including earthly humans. Rather they make arrangements for these beings to transmigrate from body to body according to their work, and thereby allow for their gradual evolution in consciousness. They also make arrangements for the dissemination of spiritual teachings in various societies so as to guide embodied souls in the direction of higher spiritual development. According to the Vedic perspective, spiritual advancement should be the main goal of human life.
Among the different humanoid types, there are races who have an essentially self-centered outlook. These are distinguished from those who tend to be dedicated to the service of the Supreme Being and the cosmic hierarchy. Some are like celestial playboys who live in great opulence. Others are characterized by an alienated state of consciousness, and yet others are strongly inimical. The self-centered races tend to be greatly attracted to the exploitation of mystic powers and technology.
All of these different groups of beings are under the control of the universal hierarchy, and thus they are not able to act fully according to their own propensities. This would explain why we are not simply taken over by them. However, there are beings who actively rebel against the cosmic hierarchy and who do sometimes interfere strongly in earthly affairs.
The most famous rebels are the Asuras, who are close relatives of the Devas. The Purāṇas describe protracted wars in Svargaloka between the Devas and the Asuras, and the basic plot of the Mahābhārata has to do with an invasion of the earth by the Asuras...
Since the Devas are beings of a godly nature who hold administrative posts in the universal hierarchy, the word “demigod,” taken from classical Greek and Roman mythology, is often used to refer to them. In contrast, the rebellious Asuras are often referred to as “demons,” since they tend to be atheistic and to oppose the divine order. Actually, the word “demon” acquired its negative connotations under the influence of Christianity. This word comes from “daemon,” which in classical Roman times meant a being intermediate between the demigods and man. The Romans and Greeks thought that there were many types of beings in this category, and these were not all regarded as evil or “demonic.” The Vedic literature also describes many races intermediate between the Devas and human beings, and these include the Vidyādharas, Uragas, and Rākṣasas. The Rākṣasas are demonic and highly inimical to humans. The Vidyādharas and Uragas are essentially neutral—they cooperate with the universal hierarchy, but they have their own agendas to pursue, and they neither favor nor oppose the human race. They belong to a category of beings known as Upadevas, or almost-Devas.

Giving Up On Meat
Song of Advice for Giving Up Meat Eating
by Nyala Pema Dündul
When I think of the suffering that meat eating brings,
I cannot bear the pain and anguish I feel within my heart.
O maṇi padme hūṃ hrīḥ!
From a state of emptiness and compassion, you guide beings —
Noble Avalokiteśvara, to you I pay homage.
Without having trained in love and compassion myself,
I ate the flesh of my mothers while lecturing others about cause and effect.
Without realizing the absolute, I wandered along the path of empty words.
I, the parrot-like beggar of White Rock,
Was practicing austerities and ‘extracting the essence’,[1]
When, one day, while meditating on Lord Avalokiteśvara,
According to the union of stages from Self-Liberation Equal to Space,[2]
My own body and everything around me suddenly disappeared
And transformed into a luminous body like that of the Great Compassionate One,
Seemingly floating in space.
As I looked around while experiencing luminous awareness,
I saw the inconceivable miseries of the lower realms.
And, in particular, the vast sufferings of the Reviving Hell.
One of its quarters, I saw, was completely filled
With men and women, naked and helpless, before each of whom
Stood throngs of evil-looking servants with heads
Like birds, wild and domesticated animals, and ferocious beasts.
Many of the servants held sharp weapons in their hands,
With which to slice apart and devour the flesh of their victims.
Time and again they cut, and time and again flesh grew back.
Victims did not expire until their karma was fully exhausted,
And habitual tendencies did not diminish, but only increased.
For those who had performed ‘red offerings’ it was even worse.
Loudly, they all screamed in terrible pain and agony.
When I had seen this external manifestation of my own perception,
I wondered what might be done to stop such suffering.
And, in that very instant, in the sky before me,
The Great Compassionate One appeared, and said:
“Ema! My son, who has been close to me throughout many lives,
Listen well now, you who are diligent and determined!
You have gained stability in the generation stage of deity yoga,
And have even developed a few qualities,
But the root of Dharma lies in loving kindness and compassion.
Do you have real love and compassion within yourself?
How could anyone trained in compassion ever eat flesh?
Just look at how eating meat brings such suffering!
The results of our own actions will ripen on us alone;
There is nothing the buddhas of the three times may do.
Eating meat has no virtue whatsoever but entails many faults.
It is the source of 400 forms of disease and 80,000 obstructing forces,
And it naturally brings about the 84,000 afflictive emotions.
Other than as part of the fearless conduct of benefitting all one encounters,
Or as a medicine or sacred substance of the supreme Secret Mantra,
Consumption of flesh involves not the tiniest trace of virtue.
Eating flesh is a sign of being either a māra or rākṣasa demon.
It causes discipline to degenerate and negative emotions to increase.
Without the cause, which is altruistic love and compassion,
You will find it hard to gain the fruit, the essence of awakening.
Meat eaters are not accompanied by the wisdom deities.
They lack blessings, accomplishment, auspiciousness and activity.
The substance of altruism does not develop in eaters of flesh,
Whom gods, nāgas and others regard as demons.
Meat eaters are plagued by gandharvas, rākṣasas, māras,
Yamas, ghosts, spirits, gyalpo, gongpo, and samaya-breaking demons.
The result of eating meat is rebirth in the hells,
Or as a bird, a jackal, a cannibal demon, or the like.
Meat eating thus brings suffering beyond measure.
But by renouncing it, you are freed from all these faults,
And will always be revered by non-human beings,
Who will see you as a pure, authentic brahmin or god.
All the buddhas and bodhisattvas, together with their retinues, throughout the ten directions,
Gurus, yidam deities and ḍākinīs will gather around you like clouds,
And you will be accompanied by male and female bodhisattvas.
Quite naturally, you will possess the cause of loving kindness and compassion,
And swiftly reach the fruit, which is the essence of awakening.
These are just some of the inconceivable virtues to be gained.”
Thus he spoke; and then, once my own perception had returned,
I felt as if I had awakened from a lucid dream.
My body and mind were tormented as if I had swallowed poison,
And I shook with fear and panic.
Just thinking of the terrible sufferings of the Reviving Hell,
I wished only to exchange my happiness for others’ pain.
So utterly overwhelmed was my mind, I wept profusely.
And I felt intense, unbearable compassion.
Then, to take upon myself the sufferings of others,
And to purify their faults and obscurations caused by eating meat,
For every mother sentient being, as infinite in number as space is vast,
I made the following vow, true according to the two levels of reality:
“Aho! Mighty sage Śākyamuni and all buddhas and bodhisattvas throughout the whole of space and time,
Have compassion for this child who knew nothing of cause and effect!
Hosts of gracious root and lineage masters, care for me!
Have compassion for this child who knew nothing of cause and effect!
Supreme yidam deity, mighty Avalokiteśvara, care for me!
Have compassion for this child who knew nothing of cause and effect!
Overwhelmed by ignorance and the two obscurations,
I have often spoken of how all infinite beings have been our parents,
And while living off their flesh, lectured about cause and effect.
I had no idea that the suffering involved was so great!
Often have I heard it said that eating meat with threefold purity[3]
Is sanctioned by the Buddha and does not count as sin.
But this applies only to saints who benefit all they encounter,
Like pure lotus flowers, unstained by negative emotions,
And to practitioners of the profound path of Secret Mantra.
For my part, I have no instruction more profound
Than altruistic love and compassion,
And the infallibility of cause and effect.
To purify all the faults and obscurations of eating flesh
Among all sentient beings, who extend throughout the whole of space,
From this moment on, I completely renounce the eating of flesh.
This is my unfailing commitment, which I shall never forsake.
Even if all the animals upon this earth were to be devoured,
There would still be no satisfaction; hunger would only continue to increase.
Deprived of food or drink for just a few days,
We feel as if we have never tasted even so much as a single morsel or drop before.
Now is the time to escape this demon, hunger.
What, after all, is the cause of this flesh?
It springs only from self-clinging and attachment.
Merely to think of it makes me weary, nauseated.
This utterly unappetizing mound of mess and filth,
Bound up with the thirty-six impure substances,
A body of habitual patterns and aggregates, is the basis for all suffering.
Each animal has its own negative actions,
And whoever eats the flesh of such beings will find it hard to win liberation.
Meat and alcohol are impure substances,
And to offer them does not count as generosity, the Buddha said.
Who, therefore, would eat this food of the afflictions?
Pretas must live for many thousands of human years
Without seeing food or drink, enduring only suffering.
But we human beings gladly drink even ice-cold water,
And have plenty to sustain us besides meat and alcohol.
If we are still not satisfied by such delights,
How could we repay past kindnesses so unfairly?
Throughout the course of countless aeons past
In every world within this universe so vast,[4]
There’s not a single being who has not been our mother.
And the milk we drank from maternal breasts would fill a billion seas.
I abandon all pretence; let the Three Jewels be my witness!
In the past, under the sway of ignorance and habit,
I ate my parents’ flesh and did not remorsefully confess.
Now with pure motivation and the four powers complete,
As in the saying, “I was not, am not, and will not be attached,”
Henceforth, may the thought of eating meat never even cross my mind.
Should I ever fail, let the Three Jewels send their punishment.
May the protectors and guardians constantly keep watch.
Were I now to eat the flesh of my past mothers,
There would be no greater transgressor in all the three realms!
The Buddha said that harming others even slightly impairs one's vows.
So what need is there to mention flesh eating which involves taking life?
In the Parinirvāṇa Sūtra, Laṅkāvatāra and elsewhere, it is said
That eating meat is tantamount to killing.
It is forbidden in both the greater and lesser vehicles,
But is particularly unacceptable for bodhisattvas.
Our Teacher himself, when he appeared as a partridge’s young,
And as a ferocious beast[5] in the wild, would not eat meat.
How then could we, his followers, ever do so?
In accordance with the guidance of the Victorious One,
There were many great masters in India and Tibet who gave up meat.
As all this shows, the faults of meat eating are unimaginably vast.
Not cultivating negativity is itself genuine Dharma.
So may I always comply with the authentic teaching!"
Having seen the boundless faults that come from eating meat,
Even the thought of it is as nauseating as poison.
And so, I, the great beggar with the name of Dündül,
Composed these words of advice to encourage my own renunciation
In the Sky Fortress hermitage of White Rock.
As a result of this virtue, may all sentient beings
Purify all the faults and obscurations that come from eating meat,
So that they may see the thousand buddhas face to face!

Asuras – Maya / Mayasura
In Mahabharat, Maya or Mayāsura was a great ancient king of the asuras, daityas and rākṣasa races. Maya was known for his brilliant architecture. In Mahabharata, Mayasabha – the hall of illusions – was named after him. It is believed that he built an auditorium for Yudhishthira at Indraprastha.
Mayasura was such a brilliant architect that he created the three cities "Tripura". Tripura prospered and ruled the three worlds (heavenly, aerial and terrestrial worlds) with power. Two of Tripura's cities ruled the world from the sky and the heavenly realm.
Tripura was protected by Maya's power. However, during the time of Tripura Sura, Tripura was destroyed and the rule of the three worlds came to an end.
On top of that, Mayasura constructed a supreme iron flying machine like UFO which is known as the "Saubha Vimana" under Lord Shiva's order when the Salwa king attacked Dwarka.
You'll agree with me that the ancient Hindu gods' every supernatural power is superior. Mayasura's metal UFOs, missiles, parachutes and construction of futuristic cities that look like "Howl's Moving Castle" are some of the most remarkable achievements.
Is it the city of the future? Is it an ancient city?
