On the passing of Queen Elizabeth II
"Lillibet" a familiar voice
Whispers in my ear
Philip holds out his hand
"it's time to go my dear"
"Already Philip?" but he just smiles,
"I knew you would protest,
But you've served your country well my love, now it's time to rest".
My family are gathered around,
I know their tears are for me,
But my body has grown tired,
And now I'm finally free.
"I broke the record, 70 years,
I suppose you are quite right"
I took his hand, and walked towards the tunnel of white light.
Then I stopped for a second,
And looked upon my son,
I knew I had four more words before my time was done.
I walked up behind him, as the bells began to ring,
I gave his shoulder a squeeze,
and whispered, "God save the King".
RIP Lillibet…

Queen Elizabeth II sits by the microphone, paper in hand, to prepare for her very first Christmas address to the nation from her study at Sandringham House, at 3:07 PM on 25 December 1952, approximately ten months after her father's death.
Five years later, the message was broadcast on television for the first time. 🎙️📺

The modern habit of doing ceremonial things unceremoniously is no proof of humility; rather it proves the offender's inability to forget himself in the rite, and his readiness to spoil for every one else the proper pleasure of ritual.

The newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation Day portraits in full coronation regalia, by Cecil Beaton.
She is wearing the Imperial State Crown, which is worn by the monarch as they leave Westminster Abbey after the coronation; the ring, which symbolizes kingly dignity; and the gold armlets called armills, which symbolize sincerity and wisdom. She is also holding the orb, which represents the sovereign’s religious power; and the sceptre, which represents the sovereign’s temporal power.
