My highlights:

0:10 - Straight up from the top, the Deacy amp! Brian struggles a bit to memorize its earliest use but he speaks fondly of it and of John ❤️ He discussed it in more details in another interview.

18:16 - Not a positive highlight per se but Brian shares his perspective on AI. Originally he is asked about the similar left/right guitars in Bicycle Race and AKOM, whether that was intentional. Then he goes on about musical vocabularies and into AI... etc etc.

26:31 - Remembering Cornwall 🥹 Brian recalls Roger and Roger's mum, how every time the band visits Truro, Roger always gets the best bedroom because he was The Legendary Drummer of Cornwall 😂❤️ (Edit: he also talked about singing in caves story, which has been talked about quite a lot recently!)

Marahuyo Project Eps 5 & 6 Stray Thoughts

Last time, Lorie decided to befriend King and Venice, and joined their club. When someone spray painted the mural of Ino’s ancestor, the other kids and dean blamed King, but Lorie stepped forward to claim she did it as well. The queer club was punished with community service to clean the beach, and the three bonded over their time together. We learned that Lorie’s queer awakening is complicated by her anger at her father’s infidelity (and men as a whole as a result). We learned about a young person who died on the beach, revealed to be a close friend of Venice’s and Archie named Christina. Archie refuses to use Christina’s name because he believes it was her queerness that got her killed, and it’s why he’s trying to protect Venice by demanding she withdraw from her expression of herself. We also learned that Ino’s dad likely left their family for a queer relationship, Ino is admittedly falling for King, and his mom told him directly to not be gay. Also, King’s mom cut his hair in his sleep and I am still pissed about it.

Episode 5: Hunyango

I do love the bits of history and mythology we get at the beginning of each episode. I liked how this one highlighted the journeys of many of the characters.

Few things more powerful than a bunch of out kids enjoying an early morning strut. Poor Lorena, though. She wasn’t ready for this divide between her and Lili.

Oh good. It was just Ino with a torch. I clearly play too much d20 fantasy.

The kids are right. Naming things is hard.

Growing up, my dad thought I might become a priest.

I respect this line that Venice is walking in the conversation with Archie to reach through his walls.

Oh wow. Archie is so stressed that he’s scratched up the whole back of his neck. That’s uncomfortable.

Aw, Venice. I’m enjoying the brainstorming session. It’s good to model what planning communication with people not predisposed to listen to you. I also love that they decided to build their plan around the local context of Marahuyo and then immediately transitioned to Lorie legitimately doing research about her home.

Lorie, your friend looks worried. Can you not look at her lips like you wanna kiss her right now?

Whoa, what’s going on with Lili? Are we going beyond the Q in the acronym?

Ino is also correct. You cannot frame a presentation around a local context without directly engaging with the locals who are the context.

Oh no. Please stop showing me Archie’s neck. It’s a good visual to show how these internalized pressures and traumas express in physical ways, but oof.

Episode 6: Sirena

Super amped about these kids taking the research component seriously within their specific connections. Lorie got info that her dad has access to as the mayor. Venice got info from the church through Archie. King got equipment so they can conduct interviews. Now they’re all gathered and reviewing the information they have.

“Joining us as an ally.” Wow, so many points to this show for reminding people that sometimes an ally is someone who isn’t ready to or can’t come out. In any case, they are with us in the movement.

Poor Venice. She just doesn’t know things.

Hold on…I think I recognize the Lola Puri actress. I will look her up when we get to the credits.

Good job on this show for priming people with the earlier lesson about babaylans for this reveal here.

Boys, are we doing a gay pinkie touch during the critical history lesson?

Hey, this is really good. They have an oral history now connecting a prized tradition to the yearnings of a respected ancestor for another man who turned on him in a cruel way. Unfortunately, the villain of this story happens to be one of Ino’s ancestors. Sad, but unsurprising, that a homophobe gained prominence for outing and robbing a queer man.

I’m really touched by how all of the kids had such an emotional reaction to the story and how it reflected some of their own feelings. I deeply appreciate this show for letting me see others experience how queer history feels for me.

Goddamit, Marco, I was enjoying a complicated, difficult moment. Can you fuck off?

And there it is again: Venice telling Archie that courage isn’t built around coming out. He still helped them where it counted.

Oh noooo. This is probably actually Ino’s dad. This scene is about to get even uglier.

Mmmm. I don’t like Lili giving up her shorts and then immediately going to a scene where she has to get rough with Marco.

Wow, this is horrible. What a way to end this episode.

I did recognize the Lola actress! That's Angie Castrence! I knew it was Gavreel’s homophobic aunt from Gameboys 2! This was a great 6th episode with very clear ideas and goals. This episode focused completely on coming out, who it’s for, and whether it’s necessary. I like that we had three characters all scared to come out, but it’s eating away at all of them. Archie is literally tearing his neck apart in anxiety. Ino is say gay and in love that it’s leaking out of him, to the point that he was forced to confront his own mom. Lili has been outed by Marco. I love that all of our out characters reassured our closeted characters that they didn’t need to come out. Can’t believe I’ve got two shows in contention for show of the year right now.

Update Ghost Files Live was a quality show, and also I was definitely the oldest person there who came alone. They played the season finale of the current season- which was easily the best episode of the post-BFU run- and then Ryan, Shane, and producer Lizzie chatted about it and had a Q&A, and also did an Estes session live on stage which turned out to be fucking hilarious

Before the unpleasantness, I used to go to a whole lot of live shows and con panels, and I got kind of inured to the whole thing? I kind of stopped being amazed or amped up by "hey look it's the people from the thing", and it was fascinating to have that again

But it was very funny, and Ryan and Shane clearly really love each other and the crew and the show a lot, so it was very sweet. Also someone complimented my Oxbox Hallowstream IV shirt and a different person complimented the back patch on my battle vest, so what more could you need

love is not enough | chapter twenty-three

He swore that he had something stuck onto his crotch as he made his way to the backstage area with the guitar slung over his shoulder. And yet, he had no time to play around lest he neglect his own personal rehearsal session a mere few hours before the show.

His band had gone off to their respective places for warming up for the night as well, and he hoped that no one would ask as to why the stud of a child prodigy guitarist was wearing a dress. He hoped that no one in the other dressing rooms would question as to why he was wearing a dress as well.

He set his guitar down on the bench, and then he reached behind him and adjusted the zipper on his back. He then gave his long black curls a little toss back over his shoulders: he then rested his hands on his chest, and for a second, he believed that he could feel something inside of him. The feeling that something within him had clicked.

He slid his hands down his body, and he realized that he had those leather pants to balance out the feeling of the dress, folded up there on the shelf against the wall right before him.

A quick glimpse around, and he lifted up the skirt to show off his underwear to the bare brick walls that surrounded him. He took a better look down, only to find that Q had in fact put something there, and he wondered what awaited him once he was up on stage. It was already harrowing enough to think about performing up there with a dress on over his body.

He took another glimpse back and, once he realized that he was alone, he reached down inside of the front of his underwear for a better peek. He turned away from the rest of the backstage area so he could have more privacy lest someone walk in behind him. It was difficult to do it with one hand given he had to use the other to keep the skirt up over his waist and his thighs, but he managed to open up with those long and lanky fingers.

He frowned at the sight of it. He tried to move his length for a better look at what she had put on him, but he couldn’t even if he had tried it, however.

He moved his hand down onto the actual length itself for a good feeling with his fingertips. Something smooth and silicone on his flesh; on one side was something square and smooth, as if there was a bit of glass on the side.

All kinds of things flowed through his head right then. Q was playing games with him, and he hoped that Jay could have a role in it as well.

He lifted his head as he moved his hand further down to the tip: she had latched it on rather tightly, such that he wondered as to how he would be able to use the bathroom once the time came for him. His one fingertip slid up inside of the tip to tickle himself a bit, and the ring tightened up against his skin. He gasped at the feeling, and he knew this was going to be bad.

He jerked his hand out of there and shook it about and flexed his fingers as if they all had fallen asleep. He nibbled on his bottom lip, and he thought about Q back there. There had to be a way to get back at her for that, especially when he knew he was going to have to use the bathroom at some point, and as far as he knew, the ring came with a key. If it did, he would have quite the struggle.

Definite revenge against her when the time came.

But he had to set his worries aside. Show time was nigh.

He picked up the leather pants from the shelf before him, and he slipped them over his otherwise bare legs. The button was slightly snug right under his belly button, but it fit him perfectly otherwise. Because it fit him perfectly, whatever it was that Q had put on over the shaft of his dick pressed harder against his body

He let the skirt drop down to his knees, and he picked up the guitar and slung it over his shoulder. A quick plug into the amp and he got started on a quick jam to have those fingers in prime form once the curtain drew.

He was about to launch into a solo when the ring on his dick vibrated. A low vibration, one that barely registered a tingling sensation down by his tip, but he could feel it, however.

The skirt of the dress flowed back from his legs and hips, but the leather jeans clung onto his flesh like a finely crafted glove. He hoped that it would continue to flow behind him once he was up on the stage in time.

In a strange twist of irony, he had hope that the skirt would flow once he was out there with his band mates.

Indeed, the collective gasp before him once he stepped up onto the stage left him reeling a bit. He then understood as to what Q was trying to do with him, between the leather pants and the fact that he had been talked into wearing a dress on the stage. He could slither and slip around like that of flowing water, and yet it would constantly rage within him like the hottest fire he could ever imagine.

Love simply was not enough for him to figure all of this out on his own. These two women had to guide his hand to the softest flesh on his body.

He was only focused on performing anyway. All of this with the dress and the leather was all a mere part of it.

He took a step forward. He could feel it vibrating right between his thighs, on the thickest part of his dick, inside of his leather pants. Then he realized what Q had put onto him back there. He licked his lips and let his mouth drop open as he strummed his guitar.

The silicone ring latched onto his dick made him think of the way the guitar strings vibrated when he strummed a bit too hard. She had turned it up a notch and it vibrated harder.

He swore that everyone in the room could hear it and could feel it like how he did, but no one seemed adept to it. They all wanted to see them there on stage, and they all came to see and hear him play his heart out as if he was about to die tomorrow morning.

He spread his legs for a power stance, but this also doubled as easing the pressure on his dick. The leather proved to be a bit tighter than before once he moved along in his solo. Somehow he managed to keep his composure when Q bumped it up more, but it was getting harder to do just that.

He was vibrating and quivering below the belt, and all manner of things whirred through his mind, but he managed to play. He still managed to play, especially when he knew that he could do it all in his sleep.

He could play in his sleep.

He could play with a vibrating ring strapped onto his dick.

The thought of that made him straighten his spine. He gave his long black curls a toss back with the flick of his head, and he let his lips slightly part on top of that. He could play in his sleep and he could do it all even if he wore something he never usually wore before.

Not a bead of sweat formed anywhere on his body, but the feeling of the heat still washed over him in the hottest wave. Ireland always brought a great deal of heat, perhaps more so than the desert venues back in the United States, and to the point it surprised all five of them. Indeed, when he took another glimpse out to the audience, he realized that no one paid any attention whatsoever to the dress on his body, and he wondered as to how they would react if he took it to the next level.

When he was about to switch guitars, he peeled off the dress and tied it around his slender waist, right under his belly button. The ring vibrated as high as it would go and a rush of blood flowed through him. Still not a single drop of sweat on his body, but he licked his lips and showed off his tongue to everyone as if he had shown up for the Kiss concert.

He then slung the guitar over his shoulder once again. His long black hair streamed down over his bare shoulders and onto his chest; his fingers crept over the fretboard like the creeping legs of a tarantula. He then jerked her head back and let the curls fly over his head.

It all flowed around him like the waters of a river. It raged within him like the hottest fire. It raged within him even as they reached their encore and they left the stage in a blaze.

At that point, he could feel a slight glistening of moisture on his forehead, but he only needed a towel as a result. He untied the dress from around his waist, only to see something out of the corner of his eye. Tucked over in the furthest corner of the backstage area, Q showed him a pretty little wave of her fingers, followed by a little remote control about the size of a saltine cracker nestled in the other palm of her hand. His body shook a bit from the feeling, and more so when he strode on over to her.

“I’m going to get back at you for that,” he scoffed at her once he walked on over to her, complete with a wag of his finger to her. She clicked her tongue against her teeth and showed him a mischievous grin. “I’m going to get you so hard for that.”

“Hard like how you’re hard right now?” she asked him in a singsong voice.

“Ha! Joke’s on you, I barely moved.” He pressed his hands to his hips as he stood before her.

“You sure? You’re about as red as a cherry tomato right now.”

He nibbled on his bottom lip again; indeed, the pants seemed to stick to him more than before, and he wanted to take them off and lay on the bed with his legs wide open and his ass all red like the flesh of a strawberry.

“I really have to take a piss,” he told her. “Take a piss after taking the piss.”

“Would you like me to remove it?”

“Is that a rhetorical question?” he chided. “Does a bear shit in the woods?”

“Does a boy shit in the woods?” she retorted, and she burst out laughing. Before he could slip another word in, she unbuttoned his pants for him and she reached right down inside of the front for the ring. He held still as she maneuvered with one hand on his shaft; she kept her other hand pressed onto his hip as if to steady herself against his body. He showed her the tip of his tongue and a raise of his eyebrows at her as if she was doing something scandalous.

She had already done something scandalous with him, and it had brought a rush of blood to his head and down his body to the space between his hips.

“Q… darling,” he breathed.

“Yeah, you like this, don’t you?” she teased him, and she unlatched the ring on his shaft. He breathed a shuddered sigh, one from both relief and from arousal that he could no longer deny from himself. She showed him the ring, which indeed had a lock on one side as well as a reading for the remote control.

“Keep those pants on, too,” she whispered right into his ear. “Big Mama Jay wants to see you snug in them.” She kissed him on the rim of his ear, and he opened his mouth to say something but no sound came out.

So I'm getting reeeally close to finishing up the Epilogue for Ride or Die. It will probably be up before the end of the week. If I were to do some kind of special event to wrap this mega work up and get us amped up for Volume 2 (Fly or Fall)- what would you be most interested in seeing/doing? How long after release should I wait to post (don't want to spoil anything!)?

If I do a Q&A, questions could be submitted at any time, I just won't answer them until the selected time period.
